Chapter 1: Monday, 01/26/2004 – Love at first sight - Paco arrives in Maranhão and meets Preta, owner of a medicinal herbs stand. When they first start to talk, Preta gets annoyed with him but later starts to like him. Paco is about to kiss Preta but is interrupted by the ring of his cell phone. Preta uses the opportunity to leave without Paco seeing her. Afonso asks Felipe to help him convince Paco to marry Barbara. Barbara tells Kaike that she’s pregnant with their baby but is going to make Paco think it’s his to marry him for his money. Kaike feels that Barbara’s plan won’t work. Paco and Preta meet again, decide to spend some time together, and end up falling in love. Paco has to leave Maranhão but assures Preta that he’s going to return to marry her. Preta reveals to Helinho that she’s in love. Apolo loses a wrestling match to Thor, his brother. Tina breaks up with Apolo and starts flirting with Thor, causing an argument between the two brothers. Paco tells Felipe that he’s leaving the city forever because he’s in love. Afonso gives Paco the engagement ring that belonged to his mother. Preta breaks up with Dodô. Barbara tells Paco that she’s pregnant.
Chapter 8: Tuesday, 02/03/2004 - Apolo and Ulisses are in danger! – Preta finds out that Paco didn’t tell Barbara that they’re together. Ulisses rents out his boat against Apolo’s wishes. Verinha and Eduardo plan the forgery with the forger. Preta is stunned to find out that Barbara is pregnant with Paco’s child. Barbara leaves, saying she doesn’t want to hurt anybody. Preta sends Paco after Barbara. Germana confesses to Afonso that she doesn’t want Barbara and Paco to get married. Afonso misses Paco. Germana sees an old photo of her and Afonso and cries. Paco tells Barbara that she’s going to marry Preta, which upsets her. Helinho and Cezinha tell Preta to fight for Paco. The bandits plan to eliminate Apolo and Ulisses. Edilásia has a bad feeling. Barbara assures Kaike that she’ll do everything to break up Paco and Preta. One of the bandits sees Apolo opening the box with the gold and points a gun at him. Helinho tells Paco to be insistent with Preta. Apolo and Ulisses jump from the boat. One of the bandits shoots at Apolo, who sinks in the sea. Paco goes to Preta’s house and yells that he loves her.
Chapter 14: Tuesday, 02/10/2004 – Paco and Barbara have an accident! – Paco thinks Preta is drunk and leaves, crushed. Cezinha tells Helinho that Preta was seen in a taxi with Dodô. Helinho goes to Dodô’s house and takes Preta away. Helinho and Cezinha try to make Preta wake up but can’t. Worried about lack of news from Paco, Afonso travels to São Luís. Barbara tells Afonso that Paco lost his mind and imagined she had a lover. Afonso sees that Paco is agitated and thinks he’s not well. Barbara suggests that Afonso put Paco in an asylum. Preta despairs when she finds out Paco saw her in bed with Dodô. Once again, Ulisses leaves to find Apolo. Edilásia makes Tina swear that she’s going to separate from her sons. Verinha and Eduardo receive the money for the sale of the fake painting. Afonso sends two nurses to capture Paco, but he manages to flee. Barbara chases Paco, who gets into Afonso’s helicopter. Preta despairs when she finds out that Paco was going to be put into an asylum. Against Paco’s will, Barbara also gets into the helicopter. Tormented by Barbara’s threats, Paco says his life is over and pilots the helicopter into the sea.
Chapter 21: Wednesday, 02/18/2004 – Barbara and Preta’s children are born – Paco rescues Ulisses. Ulisses suggests that once and for all Paco assume Apolo’s identity, and he agrees. Tina humiliates Thor and says she’s going away with Solano. Preta finds out she’s expecting a son. Six months pass. Barbara feels contractions and goes to the hospital but prevents Kaike from accompanying her. Preta also fees labor pains. Helinho takes her to a public hospital, but the workers are on strike. Kaike is upset that he’s not able to attend the birth of his son. Germana reveals to Edilásia that Barbara has a son named Otávio. Kaike barges into Barbara’s hospital room but is thrown out by Afonso’s security people. Without money for a taxi, Helinho and Lita take Preta by bus to a private hospital. Since they don’t have medical insurance, Preta can’t be attended to and leaves for another hospital. Preta gives birth to Raí on the bus, helped by the passengers. Seven years go by. Raí is a healthy, intelligent, and loved boy. Otávio is spoiled and rude because Barbara doesn’t know how to teach him and doesn’t give him affection. Helinho comments to Preta that Raí should know his grandfather. Raí overhears it and asks Preta who his grandfather is.
Chapter 22: Thursday, 02/19/2004 – Raí finds out that his father died – Preta tells Raí that he’s still too young to know who his father is, which upsets him. Kaike gets annoyed because he can’t show Otávio that he and Barbara are together. Thor and Dionisio become friends with Moa, a surfer who arrives in Rio to design surfboards. She’s pretty and is a good surfer. Raí asks questions about his father, and Preta avoids answering them. Paco confesses to Ulisses that he never forgot Preta. Barbara assures Afonso that it would be good for Otávio to study in a boarding school in Switzerland. Thor thinks it’s strange that Moa lives alone and thinks that she has some secret. Ulisses continues to try to find the gold. Stela tells Felipe that Afonso is going to promote him. Raí goes through Preta’s things and finds a photo of Paco. Otávio creates a scene when he finds out he’s going to be sent away to school. Raí asks Preta if Paco is his father. Preta confirms it and reveals that Paco is dead. Raí despairs and runs out of the house.
Chapter 23: Friday, 02/20/2004 – Lita on the brink of death! – Preta chases after Raí but doesn’t reach him. Kaike wants to get close to Otávio, but Barbara tells him that he’s going to live in Switzerland. Helinho and Preta look for Raí. Otávio sees Barbara and Kaike kissing. Raí is taken in by Pedrão, a stranger who offers him food. Thor and Dionisio meet Sal, a boy who’s a good surfer and who lives on the street. Pedrão puts Raí out on the street to ask for money along with the other boys. Thor lends his surfboard to Sal to use. Luis refuses to lend his boat to Ulisses again. Raí finds out that Pedrão beats up boys, which makes Raí incite the boys to escape. Pedrão pursues Raí. Italo assures Felipe that Afonso isn’t going to promote him because he’s Black. Laura fires Abelardo because of his crazy makeup jobs. Raí finds Preta and Helinho. Felipe isn’t promoted and is disappointed. Ulisses takes Luis’ boat without his knowledge. Preta finds Lita on the floor.
Chapter 24: Saturday, 02/21/2004 – Preta decides to find Afonso – Preta takes Lita to the hospital. Luis realizes that Ulisses took his boat. Ulisses looks for the treasure with Paco’s help. Preta and Lita wait in the crowded hospital. Barbara grabs Otávio and makes him say that he didn’t see her kissing Kaike. Felipe feels bad because Tony was promoted in his place. Helinho manages to get Lita attended to. The doctor warns Preta that Lita is very sick. Dionisio lends his surfboard to Sal so that he can participate in a surfing championship. Afonso tells Germana that he didn’t promote Felipe because he’s Black, which disappoints her. Kaike threatens to tell Afonso everything if he sends Otávio to Switzerland but loses his courage. Lita sends Preta to find Paco’s family and then dies. Paco offers to dive in Ulisses’ place and finds the sunken boat. Preta leaves with Raí to find Afonso.
Chapter 26: Tuesday, 02/24/2004 – Barbara finds out Preta had a child! – Barbara, with disguised concern, asks the security guards to remove Preta and Raí from the exhibition. Sal is very happy with his surfboard. Tony becomes interested in Barbara. Brad and his bullies break Sal’s surfboard. Moa invites Sal to work with her and tells him he can get another surfboard. Julia, a biologist, wants to rent a boat to go scuba diving. Thor confesses to Edilásia that he’s now afraid to fight. Ulisses and Paco offer to take Julia scuba diving. Barbara tells Kaike that she fears that Preta had Paco’s child and begs him to help her. Ulisses gets jealous when he sees that Julia liked Paco more than him. Kaike pretends he’s Afonso’s secretary and goes to talk to Preta, who reveals that Raí is Paco’s son. Julia and Paco kiss. Barbara becomes enraged with hatred when she learns that Preta had a child with Paco.
Chapter 29: Friday, 02/27/2004 – Preta is released, but Raí has disappeared – Raí tells Barbara his story, and she promises to help him. Preta despairs when she finds out Raí escaped. Barbara tells Raí that she’s going to take him to Afonso’s house but takes him to a youth shelter. Ulisses gets upset when he sees Paco with Julia. Sal falls in love with Moa. Edilásia tries to get Thor out of his depression but fails. Kaike tries to get close to Otávio, who doesn’t understand his interest in him. Helinho disguises himself to get away from his clients but is recognized. Barbara tells Kaike that she took Raí to the police, which angers him. The police chief begins to think that Preta is telling the truth. Felipe tells his parents that it’s necessary to be a bad person to succeed in Afonso’s firm. Preta is released. Raí runs away from the youth shelter. Barbara gets furious when she finds out Preta got out of jail. Paco tells Julia that he can’t stay with her. Preta desperately looks for Raí. Barbara sees Raí sleeping in the street.
Chapter 30: Saturday, 02/28/2004 – Preta finds out Kaike works for Barbara – Barbara tries to convince Raí to come with her, but he runs away. Paco and Julia say goodbye. Preta goes to a radio station for help in finding Raí. A taxi driver hears Preta’s appeal, recognizes Raí on the street, and takes him to the radio station. Barbara sees Raí and Preta together and gets furious. Kaike asks Barbara to let him offer Preta money for her to go away. Barbara agrees. Tina flirts with Thor and tries to convince him to fight with Solano. Dionisio asks Edilásia to let him fight with Solano. Kaike assures Preta that Afonso won’t receive her and offers her money. Preta doesn’t accept the money but tells Kaike that she’s leaving. Barbara sees Preta at Afonso’s office. Moa sees that Sal is interested in her and tells him to get a girlfriend. Dionisio challenges Solano. Ulisses drinks and decides to go after the gold. Paco tries to stop him, and they fight. Preta follows Kaike and finds out that he works together with Barbara.
Chapter 31: Monday, 03/01/2004 - Raí saves Afonso’s life – Kaike tells Preta that he only works for Barbara, but she doesn’t believe him. Preta and Barbara confront each other. Afonso comments to Germana that he doesn’t like being in Otávio’s company. Preta goes with Raí to Afonso’s house, but he refuses to talk to her. Tony manages to get Eriberto to sell his factory for very little money. Eriberto is assaulted and the bandits take all the money from the sale of the factory. Barbara sees Preta in front of Afonso’s mansion and orders her to be thrown out. Germana hears the conversation and decides to look for Preta. Tony shares the money with the bandits who assaulted Eriberto. Germana lets Preta and Raí enter the house. Paco asks Ulisses to forget about the gold. Eriberto accuses Tony and Afonso of having robbed him. Germana takes Preta and Raí to Afonso. Raí sees that Eriberto has a pointed gun aimed at Afonso and runs to save him.
Chapter 32: Tuesday, 03/02/2004 – Afonso looks for Preta - Eriberto has a heart attack and dies. Raí tells Felipe that he’s Paco’s son. Verinha overhears everything. Preta reveals to Afonso that Raí is Paco’s son, but he doesn’t believe her, which infuriates her. Felipe asks if Preta wants to make another attempt with Afonso, but she says she never wants to see him again. The police remove from the river the van the assailants used to rob the gold from Afonso in Maranhão. Abelardo puts seasonings in Edilásia’s soup, which ruins its effect. Dionisio drinks the soup and prepares to fight with Solano. Thor can’t bear to watch Dionisio get beaten, jumps into the ring, and defeats Solano. Germana tells Afonso that Preta could be telling the truth, leaving him perturbed. Paco is worried when he finds out that an investigator from Afonso’s firm is coming to the area. Raí tells Preta that she should have a romance with Felipe. Afonso goes to Preta’s hotel and asks to talk to her.
Chapter 34: Thursday, 03/04/2004 – Afonso gets attached to Raí – Afonso and Raí get along well. Barbara fears that Afonso will start to like Raí, but Kaike assures her it’s not going to happen. Paco tells Ulisses that he can’t be seen by Afonso’s representative. Afonso perceives that Raí likes the same things that Paco used to like. Felipe tells Preta that Afonso is going to end up getting attached to Raí. Helinho decides to face the spirit of Tancinha’s husband. Tony asks Stela to talk to him about Barbara and Paco’s relationship. Sal confesses to Thor that he’s in love with Moa. Thor advises him to declare his love to her. Edilásia wants to know what Abelardo is up doing late at night. Tina throws herself at Thor, who can’t resist her. Preta lets Felipe kiss her but later confesses that feels it won’t work. Afonso confesses to Germana that he liked Raí, and she suggests he doesn’t let Raí leave. Tony invites Barbara to dinner. Raí says goodbye to Afonso, who’s touched.
Chapter 35: Friday, 03/05/2004 – Paco hides from Felipe – Preta is happy to learn that Raí and Afonso got along well. Laura perceives that Felipe is interested in Preta. Afonso asks himself if Raí could really be his grandson. Barbara ridicules Tony when he asks her if he has a chance with her. Abelardo returns home late and refuses to reveal where he was. Germana asks Preta to stay in Rio, but she says she’ll stay only if Afonso asks it. Afonso compares Otávio to Raí. Helinho implores Pai Gaudencio, a powerful seer, to stop him from embodying Feitosa’s body. Gaudencio tells Helinho that he could be harmed by it. Felipe goes to investigate the disappearance of the gold. Paco hides from Felipe. Tony sees Barbara with Kaike. Paco tells Ulisses that Felipe can’t see him. Preta thinks about Felipe. Raí and Preta get ready to leave but see Afonso approaching their bus.
Chapter 37: Monday, 03/08/2004 – Tony discovers that Otávio is Kaike’s son – Paco assures Felipe that he’s Apolo Sardinha. Since he’s drunk, Felipe gets confused and ends up passing out. Afonso makes it clear to Barbara that if Raí were Paco’s son, he’d have the right to his inheritance. Afonso gives Raí many presents. Tony gives Kaike the money to repair his car and places a listening device in his photography studio. Eduardo remodels his part of the room. At Edilásia’s request, Dionisio invites Abelardo to a party at the bar for his birthday. Verinha and Laura agree to take a course. Sal promises that he’ll never abandon Moa. Helinho agrees to convoke Feitosa’s spirit, who does away with Tancinha again. Afonso hopes Raí is his grandson. Abelardo is bored at the party. Brad provokes Thor and the fighting begins. Edilásia begs Laura that Felipe doesn’t comment to Afonso about the likeness between Apolo and Paco. Tony finds out Otávio is Kaike’s son.
Chapter 39: Wednesday, 03/10/2004 – Paco tells Ulisses he knows where the gold is! – Tony demands a kiss, and Barbara throws him out. Felipe comments to Preta that he met someone whose face was exactly like Paco’s. Preta thinks it’s a sign and asks Felipe not to seek her again. Ulisses, who’s drunk, tries to control the boat in the middle of a storm. Paco and Luis go out to look for him. Tony eats tapioca at Preta’s stand. Afonso gets annoyed when he finds out that Preta turned into a chameleon. Tony assures his boss that he knows a good clinic that does DNA tests. Paco and Luis find Ulisses unconscious on a beach. Edilásia and her sons tie up Abelardo, who refuses to say who B is. Helinho, dejected, asks Gaudencio to make Tancinha love him. Edilásia is moved to find out about Raí. Verinha starts her course. Tayanni dances for Abelardo, who remains tied. Preta doesn’t submit to Afonso’s orders. Luis dismisses Ulisses and Paco from the gym. Raí argues with Afonso because he spoke badly about Preta. Barbara tells Kaike that Tony is blackmailing her. Ulisses doesn’t find the gold. Paco tells him he knows where the gold is.
Chapter 41: Friday, 03/12/2004 – Preta gives Felipe a chance – Paco helps Ulisses ascend with the bar of gold. Preta also apologizes to Afonso, who invites them to his birthday celebration the following day. Tony tells Barbara that they’ll go together to the party. Afonso runs into Barbara and Tony in the lobby, but she makes an excuse. Paco suggests hiding the gold bar and later melting it. Carvalho arrests Ulisses and Paco when they return. Abelardo buys a fare to Paris. Helinho performs witchcraft and waits. The doorman helps Eduardo, who lets the ostriches loose on the street. Edilásia runs to the airport when she finds out her son in traveling. Germana takes Preta to the house that was Paco’s. Luis withdraws the complaint against Paco. Under the effect of the spell, Tancinha grabs Helinho. Abelardo dresses like a woman to get past his mother but is discovered. Edilásia assures him that she’s very proud of him and loves him. Abelardo hugs his mother and decides to stay. Felipe asks Preta for a chance. Luis catches Paco when he stirs in the boat. Preta and Felipe kiss.
Chapter 42: Saturday, 03/13/2004 – Preta faces Barbara as an equal – Felipe makes plans to go to the party with Preta. Paco lies and says that he left his backpack in the boat. Tony arrives at Kaike’s house and tells him he’s going to marry Barbara and that their romance will be announced at Afonso’s party. Tony and Kaike get into a fight. Kaike throws Barbara out of the house when she tells him she has to submit to Tony. Germana takes Preta shopping for a dress. Paco tells Ulisses that he’s leaving for São Luis and will return to pay for Luis’ boat and for the bail. Laura gives Abelardo another chance. Tancinha unties the sack that holds Feitosa and the room starts to tremble. Helinho fights with Feitosa. Eduardo goes to the beauty salon and demands half of Verinha’s profits, or else he’ll tell the pupils who she is. Cezinha wakes Helinho. Afonso feels ill while he plays tennis with Raí. Felipe is dazzled when he see Preta all dressed up. Afonso doesn’t much like Otávio’s gift but loves the kite Raí gives him. Preta arrives at the party looking stunning and confronts Barbara.
Chapter 43: Monday, 03/15/2004 – Otávio and Raí get into a fight! – Preta feels uncomfortable at Afonso’s party, but Felipe assures her that everyone thinks she’s pretty. Otávio tells Raí that he’s the one who gives the orders in Afonso’s house, but Raí doesn’t pay him any mind. Barbara insults Preta, who controls herself to keep from responding. Afonso perceives Preta’s concern and orders Barbara to respect her. Tony tells Barbara that he’s going to help her defeat Preta. Raí makes a touching speech for Afonso. Barbara spills food on Preta on purpose. Preta gets upset, leaves the party but tells Raí that he can stay. Paco goes to São Luis to melt the gold and finds out that Preta left for the South. Gaudencio manages to liberate Helinho from Feitosa. Edilásia finds Tina in her house and orders Thor to choose between them. To Edilásia’s despair, Thor chooses Tina. Otávio insults Raí, infuriating Afonso. Raí tries to talk to Otávio, following him to his tree house, but loses his patience when he speaks badly about Preta. Otávio pushes Raí, who falls and passes out.
Chapter 44: Tuesday, 03/16/2004 – Helinho sees Paco – Afonso despairs when he sees Raí has lost consciousness. Tony fakes surprise when Preta assures him that Barbara is a good-for-nothing. Paco asks a smelter to melt his bar of gold and some smaller ones. Raí tells Afonso that Otávio didn’t push him. Otávio is shocked by Raí’s attitude. Paco sells the gold. Helinho feels guilty because he knows he won Tancinha thanks to Gaudencio’s magic spell. Tina invites Thor to live in a beach stand with her. Abelardo tells Edilásia that it’s better for her to let Thor have a romance with Tina or else she’ll end up losing her son. Edilásia asks Thor to return to the house, but Tina says she’s coming with him. Helinho confesses to Tancinha that he bewitched and captured Feitosa. Tancinha leaves in a furor. Kaike demands that Barbara let Otávio sleep at his house. Tony suggests to Barbara that they alter the DNA test and find someone to pass off as Raí’s father. Helinho sees Paco.
Chapter 45: Wednesday, 03/17/2004 – Preta sees a photo of Apolo at Edilásia’s house and is stunned – Helinho and Cezinha go after Paco but don’t catch up to him. Helinho thinks it was a hallucination. Tony insists in spending the night at Barbara’s house, which infuriates her. Kaike tries to get close to Otávio, who behaves very poorly and disdains the photographer’s house. Paco pays Ulisses’ bail and gets him out of jail. Tony introduces himself to Verinha as Barbara’s boyfriend. Verinha is delighted by Tony. Edilásia makes Tina help with the household chores. Eduardo demands that Verinha give him money to stop him from telling her clients about her past. Sal departs and leaves a letter for Moa telling her he can no longer live with her and not be her lover. Moa despairs and asks Thor and Dionisio to help her find Sal. Ulisses and Paco pay for the damages to Luis’ boat and announce that they’re going to return home. Carvalho wonders how Ulisses and Paco got a hold of so much money. When Felipe comments to Preta that the son of his neighbor, Edilásia, looks very much like Paco, Preta asks to meet her. Preta sees a photo of Apolo in Edilásia’s house and is stunned.
Chapter 46: Thursday, 03/18/2004 – Afonso believes Raí is his grandson! – Preta promises Edilásia that she won’t say anything to Afonso. Preta says she’d like to meet Apolo, which makes Felipe jealous. Germana suggests to Edilásia that she reveal the truth about Apolo and Afonso, but she refuses to. Eduardo finds out that Tony is blackmailing Barbara and fears that she’ll no longer give him money. Moa feels bad for not having perceived what Sal felt for her. Tancinha tells Helinho that she likes him for himself, without the witchcraft, which makes him very happy. Tina gets mad because she has to do all the work in Edilásia’s house. Feitosa takes over Helinho’s body. Brad makes Sal get drunk and leaves him naked in the middle of the beach. Ulisses and Paco get the gold from the bottom of the sea. Afonso is moved when he sees that Raí is color blind because Paco was too. Kaike and Otávio start to get along well. Barbara asks Kaike to help find something with which to incriminate Tony. Afonso believes Raí is his grandson.
Chapter 47: Friday, 03/19/2004 – Barbara goes to visit Marina, Tony’s mother – Preta tells Felipe that she’s happy with him and the two of them spend the night together. Paco tells Ulisses that they can’t spend all the money at one time so as not to draw attention. Kaike follows Tony and sees him entering the clinic where his mother is a patient. Barbara searches Tony’s apartment. Tony leaves a suitcase full of dollars with his mother. Afonso tries to convince Preta that working with her is not the best thing for Raí. Paco takes all the gold to the smelter and asks him to shape them into pieces of the boat. Feitosa’s spirit passes to Gaudencio’s body and Helinho expels it. Gaudencio gives Helinho a bracelet for his protection. Moa finds Sal, but he refuses to return to her house. Ulisses starts to spend the money lavishly, which annoys Paco. Afonso misses Raí. Carvalho sees Ulisses with new clothes and asks where he got the money. Barbara goes to visit Marina, Tony’s mother.
Chapter 48: Saturday, 03/20/2004 - Paco and Ulisses are jailed! – Barbara manages to get Marina to reveal some of Tony’s past secrets. Tony asks Barbara what she went to do in his apartment, and she changes the conversation. Edilásia calls the city where Apolo and Ulisses were staying and finds out that Ulisses was in jail. The smelter hands Paco and Ulisses the piece of gold he turned into a boat part. Preta explains to Raí that he’ll have to have a test done to find out if he’s Afonso’s grandson. Tancinha tells Helinho that she’s pregnant with his child. Feitosa takes over Cezinha’s body and attacks Tancinha. Laura tells Verinha that she no longer wants her to give the etiquette course. Thor tells Sal not to abandon everything because of his love for Moa. Feitosa ties up Tancinha and Helinho and threatens to take both of them to the other life. Chapter 49: Monday, 03/22/2004 – Barbara makes Raí look like a thief – Carvalho searches Paco and Ulisses’ boat but doesn’t find the gold. Germana tells Afonso to accept Raí as his grandson without knowing the results of the test. Gaudencio saves Helinho and Tancinha from Feitosa, who was embodied in Cezinha. Sal decides to return to Moa’s house. Thor and Dionisio take revenge against Brad and his gang. Laura accuses Verinha of stealing her money, but she denies everything. Tony makes Barbara throw Kaike out of her apartment. Ulisses asks Paco to return to Rio with him. Preta tells Raí that she doesn’t love Felipe like she loved Paco. Raí tells her to continue dating Felipe just the same. Afonso tells Barbara that he doesn’t know if he’s going to ask Raí to take the test, leaving her confused. Eduardo and Verinha cry from hunger. Otávio, following Barbara’s orders, takes a gold watch from Afonso and puts it in Raí’s backpack. Paco thinks about going to live in Rio. Afonso finds his watch in Raí’s backpack.
Chapter 50: Tuesday, 03/23/2004 – Ulisses and Paco arrive at Edilásia’s house – Afonso is shocked to discover the watch in Raí’s backpack. Otávio falls into Afonso’s pool, and Raí saves him from drowning. Paco decides to go to Rio with Ulisses but warns that he’ll reveal to Edilásia that he’s not Apolo within a month. Edilásia decides to go after Ulisses and Apolo. Abelardo, Thor and Dionisio try to stop her, in vain. Afonso asks Raí if he stole his watch, and he denies it but is very hurt by his grandfather’s distrust. Helinho fears that Feitosa will come back to attack him. Raí decides to leave Afonso’s house. Otávio feels guilty about incriminating Raí. Germana distrusts Otávio and tries to make him tell the truth. Edilásia manages to escape from her sons and leaves in search of Apolo and Ulisses. To Thor and Dioniso’s despair, Abelardo takes charge of the house. Preta consoles Raí. Otávio accuses Barbara of being a bad mother and runs away from home. Afonso asks Raí to return to his house, but he refuses to. To everyone’s joy, Edilásia returns. Otávio goes to Kaike’s house. Ulisses and Paco arrive at Edilásia’s house.
Chapter 51: Wednesday, 03/24/2004 – Barbara tries to turn Afonso against Preta – Edilásia faints when she sees Paco and Ulisses. Germana tells Afonso that Barbara found a way to incriminate Raí, but he doesn’t believe her. Afonso tells Germana that he was never loved by anyone, leaving her very perturbed. Raí tells Preta that he wants to return to Maranhão. Ulisses tells Paco some details about Apolo’s life. Otávio confesses to Kaike that he did something wrong at Barbara’s request. Sal becomes interested in Kika at the skateboard area. Tony deduces that Otávio could be at Kaike’s house and tells Barbara to go there to find him. Preta confesses to Felipe that she can’t forget Paco, and they end their romance. Otávio tells Barbara that he’s not going to obey her any more. Feitosa scares Helinho and Tancinha. Preta tells Raí that it’s better if has the DNA test done. Barbara reveals to Afonso that Preta was already jailed for stealing. Preta overhears everything.
Chapter 52: Thursday, 03/25/2004 – Afonso and Raí have blood drawn for the DNA test – Preta slaps Barbara. Afonso asks Barbara to leave. Ulisses announces to the family that he earned money while he was away and that now they can open a gym. Everyone is thrilled. Preta tells Afonso that Raí is ready to take the DNA test. Barbara and Tony plan to switch Raí’s test. Edilásia sees that Paco forgot a lot of things. Ulisses says he suffered an accident and has some memory loss. Paco worries because Ulisses thinks only about spending the money. Otávio treats Barbara poorly. Italo tells Felipe not to leave Preta. Felipe looks for Preta, and they make their peace. Eduardo and Verinha place an ad in the newspaper to try to find rich suitors. Felipe tells Afonso to look for Raí. Tony finds out when the test will be done. Afonso tries to talk to Raí, but they don’t see eye to eye. Afonso and Raí have blood drawn for the test.
Chapter 53: Friday, 03/26/2004 – Preta sees Barbara and Felipe talking – Afonso tries to get close to Raí, but he treats him coldly. Ulisses and Paco take the entire family for an outing on their boat. Afonso tells Germana that he regrets having asked Raí to take a DNA test. Barbara fakes getting ill to distract everyone at the clinic while Tony switches the test samples. Preta suggests to Raí that he forgive Afonso. Kaike asks Otávio if he wants to be his friend, and he says he’ll think about it. Eduardo goes on a blind date and is disappointed to see that his date is Stela, Afonso’s secretary. Verinha meets with a young, handsome man, but he steals her wallet. Preta gets indignant when Felipe raises the hypothetical possibility that Raí isn’t Paco’s son. A waitress named Beki flirts with Eduardo. Feitosa takes over Tancinha’s body, but Helinho doesn’t realize it. Tony suggests that Barbara try to approach Felipe. Ulisses reveals to Verinha that he became rich. Preta sees Barbara and Felipe talking.
Chapter 54: Saturday, 03/27/2004 – Paco sees Moa drowning and saves her – Preta leaves in a fury. Afonso tells Germana that he never got close to anyone. Germana suggests to Afonso that he have a different attitude. Paco tells Ulisses that he no longer wants to lie to Edilásia. Ulisses says that Paco is losing his chance to have a family, which worries him. Tony tells Barbara that she’s going to love him. Verinha gets excited because she’s found Ulisses again. Afonso goes to Edilásia’s trailer and asks to talk to her. Felipe asks Germana to help him get Preta back. Germana suggests that Felipe stay away from Barbara. Edilásia is hostile to Afonso. Eduardo flirts with Beki. Germana tells Preta not to break up with Felipe. Paco wrestles with Thor and wins. Thor is embarrassed. Sal and Kika get close. Sal sees Moa crying, and she confesses that she misses Pedro. Otávio says that Raí is his brother, which Barbara hates. Paco sees Moa drowning and saves her.
Chapter 55: Monday, 03/29/2004 – Otávio confesses to Afonso that he put the watch in Raí’s backpack – Paco tells Moa that she was irresponsible for having gone into the sea. Moa gets annoyed at Paco, who leaves. Otávio tells Barbara that he no longer believes her. Ulisses realizes that Paco is interested in Moa. Felipe asks Preta to trust him, and she says she’ll try. Paco confesses to Edilásia that he feels somewhat out of place in the family, but she assures him that his place is there. Eduardo tells Verinha that he’s in love. Paco starts to feel at home. Moa tells Sal that she’d like to express her gratitude to the man who saved her life. Afonso thinks about the mistakes he committed with Paco, Otávio, and Raí. Eduardo finds the necklace that Verinha got from Ulisses. Verinha makes Ulisses buy clothes for her and for himself. Eduardo gives Beki a necklace. Tancinha, dominated by Feitosa, decides to abandon Helinho. Moa finds out that her savior is Edilásia’s son and goes to find him. Otávio confesses to Afonso that he put the watch in Raí’s backpack.
Chapter 56: Tuesday, 03/30/2004 – Raí goes to visit Afonso, who calls him grandson – Barbara pretends she’s shocked about what Otávio said. Afonso gets very perturbed. Moa is grateful to Paco for having saved her life and presents him with a cake. Barbara argues with Otávio, who says he’s not afRaíd of her. Paco gets upset when Tina flirts with him. Thor and Dionisio think Ulisses’ new look is funny. Afonso apologizes to Raí, but Raí won’t accept his apology. Kaike tells Otávio that he’s proud of what he did and takes him from Barbara’s house. Germana is thrilled to learn that Otávio had the courage to tell the truth. Verinha makes Ulisses promise he’s going to buy an apartment. Tancinha, embodied by Feitosa, throws Helinho into a lake, but he manages to save himself. Paco and Moa become friends. Edilásia asks Ulisses why Apolo turned into a sad man. Ulisses avoids the question. Afonso gets sick. Kaike tells Barbara he’s going to ask for custody of Otávio if she doesn’t stop mistreating him. Raí goes to visit Afonso, who calls him grandson.
Chapter 57: Wednesday, 03/31/2004 – Moa and Paco kiss! –Raí calls Afonso grandpa, much to Afonso’s happiness. Ulisses encourages Paco to get involved with Moa. Tony tells Otávio that he’s going to marry Barbara, which despairs him. Afonso tells Preta he’s sure Raí is his grandson and asks her to stay in Rio. Preta promises to think about it. Tony tells Barbara that she needs to control Kaike better. Sal gets jealous of Paco. Afonso tells Felipe he’d like it very much if he married Preta. Helinho and Cezinha tie up Tancinha to try to expulse Feitosa from her body. Eduardo and Beki go on a date. Edilásia wishes that Paco would date Moa because she thinks this will cheer him up. Barbara orders the security people from her building to keep Kaike from coming upstairs. Raí tells Afonso that he’s going to try to forgive Otávio. Tony makes Barbara buy their wedding bands. Otávio apologizes, and Raí accepts.
Chapter 59: Thursday, 04/01/2004 – Paco sees Preta in his house – Otávio and Raí start to become friends, making Afonso happy. Moa gets embarrassed and leaves because she kissed Paco. Paco gets perturbed over the kiss. Otávio assures Afonso that no one ordered him to put the watch in Raí’s backpack. Germana doesn’t believe him. Barbara makes Otávio leave Afonso’s house. Preta gets perturbed with the approach of the anniversary of Paco’s death. Kaike prevents Barbara from taking Otávio to her house. Afonso tells Raí that he’s going to stay and live with him and will keep the room that was Paco’s. Sal kisses Kika. Helinho and Cezinha can’t rid Feitosa from Tancinha’s body. Edilásia asks Paco to play the guitar, and he has to say that he forgot how to do it. Preta tells Afonso he’s going to stay in Rio and asks if she can live in the house that was Paco’s. Afonso takes Preta and Raí to Paco’s cabana. Barbara tries to seduce Kaike, who doesn’t pay the least attention to her. Paco sees Preta in his house.
Chapter 59: Friday, 04/02/2004 – Paco sees Preta and Felipe kissing – Paco gets emotional when he sees Preta but doesn’t approach her. Moa waits for Paco to show up for dinner, but he fails to. Sal is happy that Paco disappointed Moa. Edilásia prohibits Tina from sleeping with Thor. Paco apologizes to Moa, but she doesn’t accept his apology. Thor and Tina meet on the sly, but Edilásia finds them. Paco reveals to Ulisses that he saw Preta in his house and that now he’s sure she was after his money. Barbara is kind to Otávio. Edilásia doesn’t tell Germana that her two sons returned from Maranhão. Paco tells his whole story to Ulisses. Helinho manages to expel Feitosa from Tancinha’s body but fears he’ll return. Edilásia asks Paco to promise that he’s never going to leave her, and he doesn’t know what to say. Thor accuses Paco of perturbing everyone with his return. Ulisses encourages Paco to talk to Preta. Tony goes to Maranhão to find Dodô. Paco sees Preta and Felipe kissing.
Chapter 60: Saturday, 04/03/2004 – Paco discovers that Raí is his son – Preta and Felipe head to church for the mass. Paco follows their car. Tony finds Dodô drunk and broke. Barbara makes an effort not to lose her patience with Otávio and asks him to have faith in her. Paco sees Preta and Felipe entering the church and cries. Afonso presents Raí as his grandson to everyone, making Barbara furious. Preta overhears a couple make a comment that Raí can’t be Paco’s son. Paco sees Raí and Otávio. Tony tells Dodô that he needs his help to harm Preta. Edilásia goes to Afonso’s house and asks Germana to see Raí. Raí and Edilásia talk, and she shows him how to wrestle. Paco tells Ulisses that he’s going to find out if the young boys he saw are his sons. Helinho follows Gaudencio to a convention of witches so that he can free Feitosa from Tancinha. Gaudencio says he’s going to have to call in a devilish spirit and Helinho agrees. Febrônio, the spirit, embodies himself in Helinho. Barbara gives Marina whiskey. Dodô goes with Tony to Rio. Paco finds out that Raí is his son.
Chapter 61: Monday, 04/05/2004 – Farce discovered – Edilásia explains to Paco that Raí is having a DNA test done to see if he’s Afonso’s grandson. Paco asks Moa to break up with him. Kaike becomes interested in a woman named Olivia. Barbara tells Otávio that Kaike is only interested in his money. Paco reveals to Ulisses that he’s a millionaire and that he’s going to have to leave so that they don’t discover his identity. Gaudencio asks Febrônio to free Feitosa from Tancinha. Kaike feels hurt when Otávio refuses to talk to him. Afonso gets furious when Preta disagrees with the type of education he wants to give Raí. Febrônio manages to expulse Feitosa from Tancinha’s body. Edilásia faints when Abelardo reveals to her that Paco is planning to go away. Kaike and Barbara argue about Otávio. Sal follows Kika and sees her entering a mansion. Paco overhears Kaike tell Barbara that she doesn’t love Otávio because he’s his son.
Chapter 62: Tuesday, 04/06/2004 – Paco is discovered! – Barbara tells Kaike that she loves him, but he doesn’t believe it and leaves. Edilásia asks Ulisses why Paco is leaving, and he avoids answering. Paco tells Ulisses that he found out Otávio is not his son. Edilásia goes to Ulisses’ boat and lets go of the ropes. Afonso buys an expensive necklace and tells Felipe to give it to Preta. Tony tells Barbara that Dodô came with him to Rio. Edilásia threatens to sink the boat if Ulisses and Paco don’t return to live with her. Paco jumps into the water and swims away. Kaike and Olivia make love. Paco asks Moa to give him some time to resolve his life, but she tells him to get away from her. Felipe gives the necklace to Preta. Paco observes Raí from afar. Barbara asks Otávio to never again talk to Kaike. Febrônio refuses to leave Helinho’s body. Afonso gives Raí an expensive present. Paco observes it and convinces himself that Preta is after his money. Barbara tells Dodô that he’s going to become a father. Germana sees Paco.
Chapter 63: Wednesday, 04/07/2004 – Father and son together! – Germana follows Paco’s motorcycle by car. Dodô demands that Tony and Barbara give him money in advance and put him up in a high-class hotel. Otávio refuses to talk to Kaike, and he forcibly takes him out of Barbara’s home. Germana follows Paco to Edilásia’s house, and Edilásia introduces him as Apolo. Paco gets very perturbed to see Germana. Edilásia asks Germana not to return to her house ever again. Afonso tells Raí that he’ll be owner of all his businesses when he grows. Germana asks Edilásia not to prevent her from seeing Paco. Barbara gets mad when she finds out Kaike took Otávio. Paco tells Ulisses that he needs to find out if Raí is really his son. Barbara takes Otávio from Kaike’s house. Preta fears that Afonso is spoiling Raí too much. Afonso takes Raí for a fencing lesson. Paco follows them and dresses in fencing gear. Raí talks to Paco.
Chapter 64: Thursday, 04/08/2004 – Surrounded by women! - Paco leaves before Afonso can see him. Edilásia prays that Afonso never finds out about Apolo’s existence. Preta explains to Felipe that she wants to give herself to him but still feels Paco’s presence. Afonso perceives that Germana is worried and orders her to rest. Paco tells Ulisses that he thinks Raí is his son and that if it’s true, he’ll have to assume his identity. Abelardo locks himself up in his room with three pretty women, raising the curiosity of the rest of the family. Barbara prepares a birthday party for Otávio at Afonso’s house. Edilásia is disappointed to find that Abelardo was applying makeup to the three women. Febrônio leaves and takes Tancinha with him, and she starts to become interested in him. Kaike tries to give Otávio a birthday present, but he refuses it. Barbara gets annoyed when she sees Raí and Otávio playing together. Germana goes to the boat to look for Paco, and he’s stunned to see her. Italo takes Afonso the results of the DNA test.
Chapter 65: Friday, 04/09/2004 – A destroyed man! – Afonso reads the results of the DNA test and is in a state of shock. Barbara accuses Raí of being a liar. Germana asks Paco, thinking he’s Apolo, to let her look at him, which fills him with much emotion. Edilásia finds Paco and Germana talking. Raí tries to talk to Afonso, but he locks himself in the room. Paco cries when Germana leaves. Edilásia consoles him without understanding why he’s in tears. Otávio feels badly for Raí, but Barbara prevents him from approaching him. Germana sees that Afonso is devastated and says that the exam must be faulty. Afonso doesn’t believe it. Barbara insults Preta, and Preta slaps her. Preta consoles Raí and assures him he’s Paco’s son. Edilásia makes Paco promise that he’ll never leave her. Febrônio seduces Tancinha. Germana suggests that Afonso talk to Preta. Edilásia is shocked that the test was negative and tells Paco that Preta is an opportunist.
Chapter 66: Saturday, 04/10/2004 – The troublemaker – Edilásia reveals that Raí had a DNA test that proved he’s not Afonso’s grandson. Preta tells Afonso that the exam is erroneous and leaves in a furor. Raí cries because he thinks Afonso will no longer love him. Paco is upset about believing that Preta lied. Ulisses tries to cheer him up but can’t. Raí tells Preta that he doesn’t know if she was lying, which makes her angry. Felipe tells Preta that he’s going to convince Afonso to have another test done. Paco gets drunk and offends Ulisses. Nivea, Kika’s mother, insists that Kika be more feminine. Eduardo confesses to Beki that he’s bankrupt and is surprised when she tells him she’ll stay with him just the same. Tina tries to seduce Paco as he sleeps, completely drunk. Thor finds them sleeping together, gets jealous, and challenges Paco to a fight. Afonso says he wants to say goodbye to Raí. Tony orders Dodô into action. Paco tells Ulisses that he’s leaving. Dodô, in Afonso’s presence, asks Preta where their son is.
Chapter 67: Monday, 04/12/2004 – Dodô affirms that he’s Raí’s father and Preta’s husband. Afonso is horrified and leaves, much to Preta’s despair. Germana tells Afonso that Preta is being the victim of a setup. Thor reveals to Edilásia that he’s going to fight with Paco on account of Tina. Edilásia tells Thor that she’ll never forgive him if Apolo leaves again. Paco tells Ulisses that he’s going to go crazy if he stays in Rio. Preta asks Dodô if he’s working for Barbara, but he doesn’t say anything. Tony tells Barbara that the plan worked and orders her to prepare their wedding celebration. Sal finds out that Kika is Brad’s sister. Beki tells Eduardo that she’s going to have to live with him. Ulisses and Paco say goodbye. Raí tells Preta that he doesn’t know if he can believe her anymore. Paco says goodbye to Edilásia and says he’ll be back. Felipe consoles Preta. Dodô tells Barbara and Tony that he’s not going to leave them in peace. Paco doesn’t have the courage to leave, which makes Edilásia happiness.
Chapter 68: Tuesday, 04/13/2004 – Tony reveals to Afonso that he asked Barbara to marry him – Edilásia’s entire family celebrates Paco’s decision to stay. Dodô tells Barbara and Tony that he doesn’t intend to return to Maranhão. Afonso orders Germana to remove Raí’s things from the house. Paco tells Ulisses that he’s going to be Apolo from that point on. Beki convinces Eduardo to let her live with him. Barbara threatens Olivia with a knife, which terrorizes her. Verinha gets indignant when she finds Beki in her house. Tancinha gets involved with Febrônio and asks him not to say anything to Helinho. Afonso asks Felipe to break up with Preta, which infuriates him. Thor is challenged by the mysterious Mister X. Sal asks Kika not to run away from him again. Barbara orders Tony to get away from her. Sal asks Moa if Kika can live with them, and Moa agrees. Tony shows Barbara that he taped a conversation in which she says that Otávio is Kaike’s son. Paco asks Moa for another chance. Tony reveals to Afonso that he asked Barbara to marry him.
Chapter 69: Wednesday, 04/14/2004 – Paco and Moa begin a romance – Barbara is forced to say to Afonso that she accepted Tony’s marriage proposal. Moa asks Paco to leave, but he tells her he’s not going to give her up. Afonso confesses to Germana that he misses Raí. Paco prohibits Ulisses from removing the gold. Mister X asks Tina to steal the soup for him and promises to treat her better than Thor does. Brad barges into Moa’s house with his two hoodlum friends and removes Kika from the house. Paco kisses Moa, but she runs off. Germana worries about Afonso’s health. Moa assures Sal that she’s going to help him bring Kika back. Felipe sees Tony and Dodô talking. Tancinha helps Febrônio escape from Gaudencio. Tina steals some of Edilásia’s soup and substitutes liquor for it. Thor drinks it and gets drunk. Tina doesn’t give the soup to Mister X when he’s rude to her. Dodô demands a lot of money from Tony to go away. Paco kisses Moa, and she gives herself to him. Thor beats Mister X. Tina drinks the soup, fights with Thor, and wins. Barbara asks Tony to give Dodô the money. Preta confronts Dodô.
Chapter 70: Thursday, 04/15/2004 – Tina announces she’s pregnant with Thor’s baby – Preta asks Dodô to talk to her. Tony tells Barbara that she’s going to have to pretend she loves him. Kaike asks Olivia not to leave him because of Barbara. Preta asks Dodô to help her. Paco and Moa agree not to talk about the past. Edilásia swears she’ll get revenge against Tina. Dodô tells Preta he’ll think over what she said. Germana asks Afonso to get close to Raí but he refuses. Dodô takes some friends to Barbara’s apartment and demands that she give them money. Otávio tells Kaike that he misses him, which makes Kaike happy. Ulisses refuses to buy an apartment for Verinha, and she pretends to be hurt. Edilásia fights with Tina and wins. Nivea prevents Kika from leaving the house. Preta tries to tell Afonso that Barbara hired Dodô, but he refuses to hear her. Edilásia throws Tina out of her house. Tina announces she’s pregnant with Thor’s baby. Afonso agrees to go with Preta to the hotel where Dodô is staying.
Chapter 71: Friday, 04/16/2004 – Afonso goes to visit Raí – Preta takes Afonso to Dodô’s room but no one is there. Afonso gets furious with Preta. Dodô demands that Barbara and Tony give him the money immediately. Raí cries because he misses Afonso and ends up getting a fever. Tony tells Barbara that she needs to set their wedding date if she wants him to help with Dodô. Germana assures Afonso that Barbara doesn’t love Tony. Edilásia asks Tina to return to the house, and Tina makes a series of demands. Sal sneaks into Kika’s house, and they make love in her room. Moa and Paco get more and more involved. Ulisses tells Paco that he wants to buy an apartment, and Paco asks him to wait a while longer. Otávio doesn’t like that Tony is going to live with him. Kaike tells Barbara that he’s not going to let Otávio be under the same roof as Tony. Tony gives Dodô the money. Germana worries when she learns that Raí is sick. Edilásia makes everyone pamper Tina. Chapter 72: Saturday, 04/17/2004 – Tony finds out that Barbara gave his mother alcohol to drink – Afonso is gruff with Preta, infuriating Raí. Preta despairs to see Raí’s sadness. Afonso confesses to Germana that he’d love it if Raí were his grandson. Tony demands that Barbara wear a wedding gown for their wedding. Felipe tells Preta that he no longer wants to work for Afonso, but she asks him to stay calm. Barbara asks Kaike for help, and he throws her out of his house. Abelardo tries to convince Edilásia to take Tina for a pregnancy test, but she doesn’t listen to her. Dodô makes a date with Preta. Afonso tells Felipe that Preta is not at his social level. Dodô shows up at Tony’s office and demands more money. Gaudencio performs some witchcraft to expel Febrônio from Helinho’s body. Tony finds out that Barbara gave his mother alcohol to drink. Otávio tells Afonso that he longs to see Raí. In tears, Preta asks Dodô if he’s going to help her. Tony finds Barbara searching through his apartment.
Chapter 73: Monday, 04/19/2004 - Barbara is abandoned in a garbage dump! – Tony forcibly removes Barbara from his apartment. Preta asks Dodô to help her wipe her name clean, and he promises to think about it. Raí tells Germana that he’s never again going back to Afonso’s house. Moa tells Paco that she prefers not to make plans for the future. Tony makes Barbara buy a wedding gown and walk through the streets wearing it. He leaves her in a garbage dump without any money or a car. Barbara tells Kaike that her life is in danger and asks him for help, but he tells her he no longer loves her, which upsets her. Sal secretly enters Kika’s house, and they make love in her room. Tony offends Preta, and Felipe punches him. Germana suggests that Edilásia tell Thor that he’s going to have to marry Tina. Cezinha finds out that Tancinha betrayed Helinho with Febrônio. Raí suggests that Preta marry Felipe. Dodô shows up drunk at Preta’s house, scaring Raí, who runs out. Barbara tries to attack Tony.
Chapter 74: Tuesday. 04/20/2004 – Dodô steals all of Tony’s money – Barbara threatens Tony but doesn’t have the courage to hurt him. Preta orders Dodô to leave and goes after Raí, who hides out in the woods. Afonso blames Preta for having lost Raí, and they argue. Dodô demands more money from Barbara to leave Rio. Nivea prevents Kika from leaving the house. Afonso finds Raí in the fencing club and is moved by how lonely he appears. Beki suggests to Verinha that she tell Ulisses that her husband died and left a pile of debts so that Ulisses will buy her an apartment. Abelardo meets a makeup artist named Iris at Laura’s salon, and they become friends. Dodô finds out where Tony keeps his suitcase full of dollars. Tony realizes his suitcase disappeared. Moa tells Paco that she wants to break up with him. Dodô shows Preta the money he stole from Tony.
Chapter 75: Wednesday, 04/21/2004 – Preta and Raí in Dodô’s hands – Preta tries to convince Dodô to return the money, but he goes away. Preta goes after Dodô, and Raí follows her. Moa tells Paco that she doesn’t want to be attached to him, leaving him hurt. Barbara is shocked to see that Tony gave orders for his suitcase to be recovered. Preta and Raí get into the car with Dodô and are followed by Tony’s henchman. Sal tries to talk to Moa, but she asks to be left alone. Verinha tells Ulisses that her husband left her penniless, and he promises not to abandon her. Abelardo and Iris pretend they’re going to fight and put on a performance much to Edilásia’s horror. Felipe, Germana, and Afonso look for Preta and Raí. Preta manages to convince Dodô to go back to Rio and return the money. Felipe tells Tony that he’s going to do away with him if anything happens to Preta. Dodô stops the car at a gas station and is captured by Tony’s henchman without Preta and Raí seeing it. The henchman orders Raí to give him the suitcase.
Chapter 76: Thursday, 04/22/2004 – Barbara goes to Preta’s house – Raí hands over the suitcase. Preta realizes that Dodô isn’t coming back and calls Felipe. Paco, in vain, asks Moa to give him a chance. Preta assures Felipe that Dodô was killed. Tony tells Barbara that they need to give Kaike a chance. Sal asks Moa why she’s afraid to have a relationship with Paco, and she changes the topic. Germana tells Preta that it doesn’t pay for her to tell her story to Afonso if she doesn’t have a way to prove it. Edilásia burns Abelardo’s things. Verinha makes Ulisses think that she’s being mistreated. Otávio tells Kaike that he’d like it if he were his father. Kaike introduces Otávio to Olivia. Preta sees on television that Dodô’s body was found. Germana tells Afonso that Tony is a criminal, but he doesn’t believe her. Edilásia tells Paco that Moa loves him. Sal finds a box of Moa’s medicines. Barbara goes to Preta’s house.
Chapter 77: Friday, 04/23/2004 – Barbara threatens Preta. Moa orders Sal to keep quiet about what he saw. Kaike reads in the newspaper that Dodô was found dead. Barbara orders Tony not to harm Kaike. Preta decides to find out why Barbara traded Kaike for Tony. Tony steals a document from Felipe’s desk. in Olivia’s presence, Barbara forcibly removes Otávio from Kaike’s house. Helinho decides to stop being a seer and find a job. Cezinha realizes that Tancinha misses Febrônio. Verinha tells Ulisses that she was thrown out of her apartment. Paco sees Ulisses and Verinha talking. Edilásia prevents Iris from seeing Abelardo. Afonso finds out that Tony stole Felipe’s document and gives him a stern lecture. Paco tells Ulisses that Verinha is worthless and prohibits him from buying an apartment. Preta follows Kaike. Paco assures Moa that he won’t break up with her. Afonso goes to visit Raí. Preta asks Kaike to help her.
Chapter 78: Saturday, 04/24/2004 – Preta asks Kaike if Otávio is Paco’s son, leaving him very perturbed. Barbara explains to Tony that the only way to control Kaike is to resume her romance with him. Tony suggests they send Otávio to Switzerland. Otávio gets hysterical. Germana and Preta wonder if Kaike could be Otávio’s father. Kaike confesses to Olivia that Otávio is his son. Paco tells Ulisses to pay a surprise visit at Verinha’s house to unmask her. Otávio tells Kaike that Barbara wants to send him to Switzerland, and he assures him he won’t let her. Ulisses accuses Verinha of wanting his money, and she tells him it was Eduardo and Beki who made her lie to him. Nivea finds Sal in Kika’s room and throws him out of her house. Iris helps Abelardo run away. Kaike tells Barbara that he’s going to tell Afonso the truth. Tony decides to use Otávio to scare Kaike. Germana asks Kaike what he wants to talk to Afonso about.
Chapter 79: Monday, 04/26/2004 – Otávio finds out that Kaike is his father – Kaike tells Germana that he has an important matter to discuss with Afonso. Tony phones Kaike and threatens to kidnap Otávio if he reveals anything. Kaike gives an excuse and goes away, leaving Germana intrigued. Afonso reveals to Germana that he found out that Tony is a bad person. Tony hides Otávio in a hotel room. Ulisses is upset to find out that Verinha was only after his money. Kaike tells Barbara that he’s going to reveal everything to Afonso if anything happens to Otávio. Edilásia tries to make Abelardo return home, but he runs away. Olivia consoles Kaike. Afonso wants to give Preta money to help her raise Raí, but she refuses. Verinha tells Ulisses that she loves him, and he, at great cost, sends her away. Moa kisses another man in front of Paco at a Luau at the beach. Sal finds out that Moa has a brain tumor and her life is at risk. Preta asks Kaike to help her. Otávio overhears Barbara say that Kaike is his father during an argument with Kaike at the hotel.
Chapter 80: Tuesday, 04/27/2004 – Otávio goes to look for Kaike – Barbara tells Otávio that he misunderstood, but he doesn’t believe her. Kaike tells Preta that he can’t help her. Tony tells Barbara that they’ll have to send Otávio to Switzerland now that he knows he’s Kaike’s son. Ulisses asks Moa why she wants to be rid of Paco, and she avoids answering. Paco tells Ulisses that he no longer wants to be sad and decides he’ll buy a harmonica. Moa reveals to Sal that her tumor could kill her at any time and that’s why she doesn’t want to get close to anyone. Paco assures Edilásia that he’ll bring Abelardo back. Moa asks Sal to live somewhere else. Tancinha misses Febrônio. Paco convinces Abelardo to return home. Felipe introduces Preta to Italo and Laura. Tony apologizes to Afonso, but Afonso is disdainful to him. Otávio manages to run away from the hotel. Paco sees Sal crying and asks what’s going on. Otávio goes to Kaike’s house and wants to know whether Kaike is his father.
Chapter 81: Wednesday, 04/28/2004 – Barbara and Tony’s wedding – Kaike confirms to Otávio that he’s his father. Otávio reveals that he ran away from Tony. Kaike tries to leave with Otávio but finds out that Tony and his henchman are watching the building. Moa lets Sal live with her again but tells him that he can’t reveal her secret to anyone. Kaike tells Barbara that he’s not going to lie any more to Otávio, which despairs her. Tony barges into Kaike’s house and takes Otávio. Paco tries to talk to Moa, but she insults him. Barbara assures Otávio that she’ll abandon him if he tells anyone that Kaike is his father. Tancinha insists that Helinho be rougher with her. Germana suggests that Afonso take Otávio to live at the house. Paco serenades Moa by playing his harmonica. Barbara gets ready to enter the church and marry Tony. At the entrance to the church, Otávio, who is with Barbara, sees Kaike and runs to him.
Chapter 82: Thursday, 04/29/2004 – Edilásia finds out that Tina was never pregnant! – Kaike takes Otávio. Barbara despairs and sends one of Tony’s hoodlums after them. Verinha realizes that Kaike is Otávio’s father and counsels Barbara not to marry Tony. Barbara says she can’t change her mind and enters the church. Tony and Barbara get married. Moa kisses Paco but then asks him to leave. Barbara gets hysterical when she finds out that Kaike managed to get away from Tony’s hoodlums. Kaike takes Otávio to Olivia’s house. Tony decides to arrange a stakeout at Kaike’s studio to see if he can find out where he took Otávio. Tina faints and Edilásia calls a doctor. Kika meets Sal, but Brad makes her go back home. The doctor reveals to Edilásia that Tina was never pregnant. Preta starts to need money. Tony finds out Olivia’s address. Sal finds that Moa has fainted. Tony’s hoodlums arrive at Olivia’s house and take Otávio.
Chapter 83: Friday, 04/30/2004 – Father above all! – Kaike gets desperate. Ulisses convinces Paco to use some of the gold to open Academia Sardinha. Kika sees Sal and Moa embracing and runs off. Tony suggests to Barbara that they spend their honeymoon in Switzerland and leave Otávio in a boarding school there. Sal asks Paco not to give up on Moa. Edilásia throws Tina out of the house. Sal assures Kika that he’s not romantically interested in Moa. Afonso sends food to Preta’s house, but she doesn’t accept it. Tancinha asks Gaudencio to bring Febrônio back. Preta assures Germana that she’s going to find a job. Kaike follows Barbara to the airport and tells her he’ll tell Afonso the truth if he takes Otávio to Switzerland. Barbara doesn’t get on the plane. Preta tells Felipe that she doesn’t want to marry him for the time being. Afonso arrives at Barbara’s house.
Chapter 84: Saturday, 05/01/2004 – Paco sees Moa taking medication – Afonso asks to speak to Otávio, but Otávio refuses to go near him. Preta tells Felipe that she prefers for them to remain friends, which upsets him. Afonso tells Barbara that he doesn’t want Otávio to go to Switzerland. Moa makes up with Paco. Tancinha seduces Gaudencio to convince him to bring Febrônio back. Gaudencio gives Tancinha a powder for her to use on Helinho. Tancinha, by accident, uses the powder on Cezinha, whom Febrônio embodies. Edilásia inaugurates the Academia Sardinha. Cezinha and Tancinha grab each other, hidden from Helinho. Tony tells Barbara that she’s going to have to find a way to keep Otávio quiet. Dionisio consoles Tina, and she clings to him. Preta asks Germana if she’s loves Afonso, which leaves her very perturbed. Barbara tells Otávio that she’s abandoning him if he says anything to Afonso. Moa gets sick and sends Paco away. Otávio treats Afonso badly. Paco sees Moa taking medication.
Chapter 85: Monday, 05/03/2004 – Afonso wants to adopt Raí – Sal asks Paco to call a doctor to help Moa, which infuriates her. Otávio tells Afonso he hates him, which hurts him. Barbara congratulates Otávio for doing what she ordered him to. Kaike tells Preta that he can’t help her. Barbara sees Preta at Kaike’s house. Germana consoles Afonso. Paco finds out that Moa’s life is at risk but says he won’t give her up. Thor presents Roxane, his new girlfriend, to Edilásia. Tina gets furious but Dionisio refuses to tell Edilásia that they’re having a relationship. Tony and Barbara plan to give Preta a scare to get her to leave Rio and return to São Luis. Tony’s hoodlums attack Preta and threaten her. Afonso goes to visit Raí, and they have a good time together. Germana asks to see Apolo, which worries him. Preta tells Germana that she was attacked and says she wants to go back to Maranhão. Paco asks Moa to let him stay by her side, and she concedes. Afonso asks Raí if he would like him to adopt him.
Chapter 86: Tuesday, 05/04/2004 - Felipe asks Preta to marry him – Preta tells Afonso that he doesn’t need to adopt Raí; he’s already his grandson. Afonso asks Preta to think about his proposal. Sal is glad to see Paco and Moa together. Germana is happy to learn about Afonso’s decision. Barbara finds out about it and gets furious. Kika argues with Nivea and runs away from home. Verinha asks Brad to bring Kika back any way he can. Germana tells Preta to think about Afonso’s proposal. Verinha stages a fake suicide attempt, and Ulisses ends up forgiving her. Sal wants to run away with Kika. Raí confesses to Preta that he loves Afonso, and she decides to stay in Rio. Barbara and Afonso argue. Moa says she’s going to help Sal and Kika. Felipe asks Preta to marry him and gives her 24 hours to think it over. Nivea sends the police to search Moa’s house, but Kika manages to escape. Preta agrees to let Afonso adopt Raí.
Chapter 87: Wednesday, 05/05/2004 – Preta sees Paco – Afonso assures Preta that he doesn’t care if Raí is Paco’s son or not because he considers him to be his grandson either way. Germana admires what Afonso did. Paco asks Moa to marry him, and she accepts. Kika suggests to Sal that they take the money that Moa gave them and bet it on a horse to try to multiply it. Felipe tells Germana that he knows Preta won’t accept his marriage proposal. Raí asks Preta to marry Felipe. Barbara flirts with Kaike, who ignores her. Kika chooses a horse, who wins the race. Nivea asks the police to find Kika and Sal. Edilásia gets furious when she finds out the Dionisio is romancing Tina. Kika and Sal buy a car. Preta accepts Felipe’s marriage proposal. Felipe and Preta tell Raí that they’re going to get married. Paco goes to buy Moa a wedding ring. Preta goes to the same shopping center to apply for a job as a salesclerk. Preta sees Paco.
Chapter 88: Wednesday, 05/06/2004 – Paco and Moa become engaged – Preta goes after Paco. Moa worries when she finds out Sal will travel by car because he’s a minor and doesn’t have a license. Preta approaches Paco and calls his name. Paco pretends he doesn’t know her, tells her he’s confusing her with someone else, and runs off. Paco gives Moa the ring. Tony tries to grab Barbara, and she continues to avoid him. Dionisio tells Edilásia that he really loves Tina and that he’s going to run away from home if he can’t stay with her. Edilásia agrees to let Tina live in her house. Sal and Kika are stopped at a checkpoint but manage to escape. Paco reveals to Moa that he saw Preta but assures her that he’s much happier now. Preta tells Felipe that she needs to know for sure that the man she saw wasn’t Paco. Kaike assures Otávio that one day their situation will improve. Barbara finds out that Tony is allergic to insecticide. To get back at him, she sprays insecticide all over the house, which gets him to leave. Preta goes to Edilásia’s house and finds Paco having lunch with the whole family and Moa.
Chapter 89: Friday, 05/07/2004 – Germana reveals to Preta that Apolo is Paco’s brother – Preta apologizes for dropping in and says that Apolo is the same as her former boyfriend. Edilásia gets nervous and asks Preta to leave. Moa perceives that Paco was startled when he saw Preta, says she’s not feeling well, and leaves. Raí asks Afonso why he doesn’t marry Germana, embarrassing both of them. Felipe loses his patience when he hears Preta talk about Paco. Moa tells Paco that she invented that she wasn’t feeling well because she saw that Paco still loved Preta. Paco decides to reveal to Moa who he is. Moa tells Paco that he’s only with her to forget Preta and sends him away. Sal convinces Kika to call home and say that she’s fine. Kika calls and Nivea asks the police to trace the call. Eduardo finds out that an aunt of his is coming to Rio and that she’s bringing an enormous diamond to pay for a surgery. Helinho realizes that Febrônio embodied himself in Cezinha, and Tancinha confesses that she’s in love with him. Febrônio throws Helinho out of his house. Germana tells Preta the story of the twins and asks her not to say anything to Afonso about Apolo. Afonso invites Otávio to go on an outing, and he accepts against Barbara’s wishes. Otávio tells Afonso that he never wanted to offend him. Moa forgives Paco. Germana reveals to Preta that Apolo is Paco’s brother.
Chapter 90: Saturday, 05/08/2004 – Preta goes to talk to Paco again – Germana reveals to Preta that Edilásia had an affair with Afonso and became pregnant with twins. Paco tells Moa that he no longer loves Preta. Germana makes Preta promise that she’s not going to say anything to anyone. Afonso reveals to Otávio that he adopted Raí, and Otávio and Raí agree to become brothers. Barbara offends Raí and Preta, which infuriates Afonso. Otávio assures Barbara that he didn’t tell Afonso the truth. Edilásia makes Abelardo, Thor, and Dionisio sleep in her bed to keep them away from Tina, Roxane, and Iris. The three of them try to escape, but Edilásia wakes up and gets furious. Helinho finds out that it was Gaudencio who brought Febrônio back because Tancinha seduced him. Preta confirms to Felipe that Apolo and Paco are brothers, but Felipe gets annoyed when he learns that she didn’t intend to tell him. Aunt Heloisa stays at Eduardo and Verinha’s house. Moa asks Paco to come live with her. Preta goes to speak to Paco again.
Chapter 91: Monday, 05/10/2004 – Paco goes to his cabana and kisses Preta – Preta says that Paco was the love of her life, which perturbs him. Barbara sleeps in Otávio’s room to get away from Tony. Paco invites Moa to travel with him and confesses that he’s going to miss Edilásia. Felipe and Preta make up. Edilásia asks Germana to get Preta and Felipe away from her son. Abelardo fights with Iris and throws him out of his house because he did the makeup for Roxane and Tina, and they liked the results. An attendant tells the police officer that Kika just left the gas station. Abelardo puts makeup on his brothers and their girlfriends, and they all hate it. Helinho leaves when he sees Febrônio and Tancinha together again. Eduardo, Beki and Verinha convince Tia Heloisa not to go out to sell her diamond that day. Tony finds out that an old friend of his father’s, Edgar, is the scientist in Afonso’s firm who invented the formula for a new sweetener that will be negotiated with an American businessman. In a conversation with the scientist, Tony finds out that he’s furious because Afonso didn’t give him a raise for having discovered the sweetener. Afonso lends Preta a necklace which belonged to his deceased wife for her to wear at a party at his house. Afonso and Felipe welcome Kruger, a businessman interested in buying the formula for the sweetener. Paco gets drunk and goes to his cabana, where he finds Preta and kisses her.
Chapter 92: Tuesday, 05/11/2004 – Tony sets Preta up again! – Felipe arrives, and Preta asks Paco to hide. Preta goes to the party with Felipe. Barbara tries to charm Kruger, but Tony introduces himself as her husband. Kruger is hypnotized by Preta’s beauty, which infuriates Barbara. Moa’s father, Sergio, shows up but she asks him to leave. Kruger tells Afonso that he wants Preta to conduct the negotiations between them. Tony decides he’ll give the formula for the sweetener to Kruger to incriminate Preta. Everyone tries to get Abelardo out of his depression, which was brought about because he thinks he doesn’t have the talent to be a makeup artist. Eduardo pretends he’s a bandit and steals Aunt Heloisa’s diamond. Edilásia asks Ulisses to sponsor Abelardo’s entry in a makeup contest. Gaudencio orders Febrônio to leave. Cezinha throws Tancinha out of the house. Helinho walks in the desert. Abelardo agrees to participate in the contest. Afonso and Preta discuss the terms for the negotiations. Paco gives Moa a protective hug. Kruger does business with Preta but buys the formula from Tony.
Chapter 93: Wednesday, 05/12/2004 – Preta gets into a rather complicated situation! - Afonso discovers that Kruger left after obtaining the formula for the sweetener. The scientist, Edgar, who staged the setup with Tony, insinuates that it was Preta who stole the formula. Aunt Heloisa says that she’ll return to the city after she recovers the diamond. Afonso feels betrayed. Preta goes to the beach to see Paco, but he lies that he was drunk on the day he went to her house. Silva puts a briefcase with dollars in Preta’s house and steals the necklace that Afonso lent her. Abelardo does the makeup for his mother, his brothers, and their girlfriends for a contest that’s held at the Academia Sardinha. Iris is applauded. Abelardo is booed. Iris wins and a melee takes place at the Academia. Helinho has visions of Tancinha. Preta despairs when she discovers that the necklace disappeared. Tony gives the stolen necklace to Barbara. Felipe finds the briefcase full of dollars in Preta’s house.
Chapter 94: Thursday, 05/13/2004 – Afonso calls Preta a thief! - Preta tells Felipe that someone stole the necklace and put the briefcase in her house. Tony tells Barbara that Afonso is going to discover R$100,000 in Preta’s account. Aunt Heloisa discovers that Eduardo stole the ring and decides to get revenge. After much confusion, the ring ends up falling into the gutter. Heloisa has a heart attack and dies. Tancinha stays under Pai Gaudencio’s care. Cezinha finds Helinho, but he refuses to return. Thor, Dionisio, Roxane and Tina insist on being made up by Abelardo, but he can’t do it. Abelardo threatens to jump out the window. Kika and Sal get married symbolically at the edge of the sea. Afonso finds the money in Preta’s account. Paco says he loves Moa, and they kiss. Brad and his hoodlum friends find Kika. Sal tries to resist, but they take Kika home. Preta goes to the mansion to return the briefcase, and Raí reacts angrily when he hears Afonso call her a thief. Raí leaves with his mother, promising never to come back.
Chapter 95: Friday, 05/14/2004 – Moa and Preta come face to face – Tony catches Barbara in Kaike’s arms. Afonso tells Germana that he’s not going to be at Preta’s mercy. Tony tells Kaike that Barbara belongs to him. Kaike gets mad and leaves. Barbara asks Afonso to forget about Raí’s adoption. Beki and Eduardo tell Ulisses that Verinha is happy only when she’s close to him. Abelardo has a fit when he finds out that Iris won a scholarship to Paris. Tancinha blames herself when she finds out about Helinho’s condition. Several women offer to go find Helinho. Thor and Tina scuffle, pretending that they hate each other, but they end up kissing. Kika swears she’s going to run away again. Moa searches for Sal in the hospital. Felipe defends Preta and resigns his job. Verinha invites Ulisses to live with her. Dionisio asks Tina to marry him, and she accepts. Preta agrees to marry Felipe, which makes Raí happy. Afonso wants custody of Raí. Preta looks for Apolo in the boat. Paco reaffirms his love to Moa, who’s jealous of Preta. Preta wants to set the wedding date with Felipe, which makes him happy. Barbara tries to seduce Kaike. Olivia comes face to face with Barbara in Kaike’s apartment and leaves. Cezinha, Tancinha, and Pai Gaudencio find Helinho, but he refuses to return. Paco and Moa go with Sal to Kika’s house. Dionisio catches Thor and Tina together and wants to take care of the situation on the mat. Nivea lies and says that Kika left to study in Europe. Helinho runs away from the women in pursuit. Edilásia interrupts the fight between her sons and gives them a beating. Barbara goes crazy because Tony locked Otávio in a closet. Germana gets upset when Afonso tells her he’s going to offer Preta money so that he can keep Raí. Barbara asks to spend the night with Otávio at Kaike’s house. Preta is horrified when Afonso says that if she doesn’t accept his proposal, he’s going to take Raí’s custody away from her.
Chapter 97: Monday, 05/17/2004 – Preta is jailed and Raí is taken into protective custody – Preta throws Afonso out. Tony invites Dalva for a drink. Kaike agrees that Barbara can sleep at his house. Tony orders Dalva to pick out Barbara’s clothes. Germana gets ill when Afonso tells her she can leave. Tony opens the door to Kaike’s house with a copy of the key. Tony forcibly removes Barbara, and he and Kaike end up fighting. Germana feel ill and goes to the hospital. Paco imagines he sees Preta when he kisses Moa. Nivea doesn’t let Kika speak with Sal on the phone. Brad insists that his mother should have Kika committed. Thor breaks up with Roxane. Helinho doesn’t succumb to the temptations offered by Cezinha. Dionisio again parrots what Thor says and the two of them throw Tina out of the house. Sal runs after the car where Kika was forcibly taken away, but he can’t do anything. Afonso sends his lawyers to take Raí from Preta that same day and makes allegations to the police against Preta, accusing her of illegal entry in his house. Barbara gets furious when she sees Dalva with some of her clothes. Verinha goes after Ulisses on the boat and comes face to face with Paco. The police take Preta to the police station and Raí to the protective custody unit.
Chapter 98: Tuesday, 05/18/2004 - Verinha tells Barbara that she saw Paco’s double – Ulisses introduces his brother, Apolo, to Verinha. The police chief arrests Preta. Afonso takes Raí. Felipe pays Preta’s bail. Raí rebels when he discovers that Afonso is responsible for having his mother put in jail. Preta despairs when she learns that Afonso has provisional custody of Raí. Afonso feels chest pains when Raí throws food at him. Abelardo suffers when he finds out that Iris became Madonna’s makeup artist. under protest, Cezinha, Tancinha, and Pai Gaudencio take Helinho to their house. Edilásia, Thor, and Dionisio tell Abelardo that he needs to fight at the Academia Tatame to come out of his depression. Helinho runs away and hides again in a hole. Abelardo is defeated. Chapter 99: Wednesday, 05/19/2004 – Germana helps Raí escape from Afonso – Germana takes Raí, who’s crying, inside. Preta tells Felipe that she’s not moving one foot away from the gate. Raí shows his hatred of Afonso and says he wants to leave the house. Barbara wants to throw Dalva out, but Tony won’t let her. Preta gives an interview affirming that her son was kidnapped by Afonso. The news reporter quickly leaves, and Felipe is sure that Afonso precipitated it. Preta makes an appeal on the radio. Raí cries when he hears it. Afonso gets indignant. Paco and Moa also hear the appeal. Brad and his group drag Abelardo to the Tatame. When the wrestlers talk badly about Mamuska, Abelardo beats them up. Edilásia thinks it was a miracle and considers him the family champion. Tina falls in love with Abelardo. Abelardo doesn’t remember anything that happened. Verinha introduces Barbara to Ulisses as her friend, Gisela. Barbara follows Ulisses, who’s surprised to see her in the boat. Barbara doesn’t react when she sees a photo of Paco. Germana helps Raí escape. Afonso gets angry when he finds out Germana helped his grandson escape.
Chapter 100: Thursday, 05/20/2004 – Paco and Barbara come face to face – Germana asks Afonso to fire her. Barbara flirts with Ulisses, which tempts him. Preta cries when she’s united with Raí. Barbara kisses Ulisses. Felipe, Preta and Raí hide in an apartment. Afonso tries to stop her, but Germana leaves. Tony investigates the Sardinha family. Paco fears he was unjust with Preta. Ulisses tells him to go look for Preta. Moa feels sick. Afonso loses control and cries alone. Paco says he’ll never leave Moa alone. Edilásia fawns over Abelardo, the champ, who thinks he’s living a nightmare. Tancinha tempts Helinho, but he resists. Tina flirts with Abelardo. Kika tries to strangle Nivea when she refuses to take her out of the hospital. Afonso threatens to destroy Laura’s family if she doesn’t bring Raí to him. Preta, Germana and Felipe go to see a lawyer. Laura offers to stay with Raí and takes him back to his grandfather’s house. Barbara discovers Moa’s address from Edilásia, pretending to be the manager of the bank where Apolo has an account. Paco comes face to face with Barbara.
Chapter 101: Friday, 05/21/2004 – Barbara discovers the friendship between Edilásia and Germana – Paco tells Barbara he’s not who she thinks he is. Raí refuses to talk to Afonso. Preta doesn’t forgive Laura. Barbara tells Paco she’s going to be coming to see him many times. Paco recalls Barbara beating him on the head. Moa consoles Paco. Barbara thinks of the possibility that Paco has a twin brother. Ulisses is shocked to find out that Barbara is Verinha’s daughter. Sal finds out where Kika is being kept. Ulisses unmasks Verinha. Beki knocks Ulisses unconscious with a blow to the head. Edilásia worries because Abelardo didn’t sleep at home. Abelardo arrives all slovenly and faints. Sal visits Kika. Ulisses is tied and gagged and begs to leave. Edilásia, Thor, and Dio catch Abelardo in Tina’s arms. Moa tells Paco to resolve his story with Preta. Preta cries at the gate to Afonso’s house. Paco sees it from afar. Barbara finds out that Edilásia worked in Afonso’s house and that she’s a friend of Germana’s. Preta tells Germana that she’s her second mother. Paco knocks on Preta’s door.
Chapter 102: Saturday, 05/22/2004 – Edilásia is pressured to tell the truth about the twins – Paco tells Preta that he’s not a racist, but she doesn’t want to talk to him. Tony concludes that Afonso doesn’t know about the existence of the twin. Moa makes plans to travel with Paco. Afonso accuses Germana of having crossed over to the enemy side. Verinha dances for Ulisses and refuses to untie him. Some bizarre people, who think Helinho has turned into saint, worship him. It’s Tancinha, however, who performs miracles. Edilásia comes to an agreement with Tina: Tina will return to her house if she seduces Abelardo while he’s sober. Beki kisses Ulisses. Kika thinks it’s better not to escape from the hospital. Edilásia sends Tina to sleep in Abelardo’s room, and he screams when she tries to seduce him. Paco is stunned when Germana says that Raí is Paco’s son. Otávio and Raí jump the wall outside the house. With Preta and Felipe’s help, Germana gets settled into her new house. Afonso knocks on Germana’s door. Barbara, thinking that Paco has to be Apolo’s twin, pressures Edilásia to find out if she’s Paco’s mother.
Chapter 103: Monday, 05/24/2004 – Barbara gets the truth out of Edilásia – Barbara threatens to tell Afonso that Edilásia has a son who looks just like Paco. Otávio and Raí try to escape by jumping over the wall. Otávio gets hurt on the fall, Raí won’t run off without him, and the two of them get caught by the security guards. Preta insults Afonso, who accuses Germana of abetting his enemies. Edilásia ends up confessing that she had twins. Afonso begs Germana to return. When Felipe asks, Germana denies she loves Afonso. Paco lends Sal some money. Barbara takes Otávio away so that he won’t be close to Raí. Thor and Dio protect Abelardo from Tina. Helinho gets irritated by the miracles that Tancinha performs. Sal pretends he’s crazy so that he can get admitted into the clinic and promises Kika that the two of them will escape. Raí breaks a toy that Afonso gives him. Raí instigates Afonso, who’s crying on the floor, and asks to return to his mother. Edilásia asks Paco to leave. Raí returns home.
Chapter 104: Tuesday, 05/25/2004 – Paco’s life is in Barbara’s hands – Raí jumps into Preta’s arms. Paco tells Edilásia that he’s staying. Barbara begs Tony not to do anything against Apolo. Germana returns to Afonso’s house. Preta decides not to sue Afonso, and he says he’ll no longer sue her. Tony tells Barbara that she loved Paco and could never stand the idea that he didn’t love her. Paco suspects that Barbara could have falsified the DNA test. Moa tells Paco to get away from her. Sal and Kika make love while everyone sleeps. Helinho returns home and throws out all of Cezinha’s clients. Tina pursues Abelardo. Tancinha knocks on Helinho’s door. Beki and Ulisses start their romance. In an attempt to get them to change their minds, Verinha and Edu throw the key to the apartment out the window, keeping Beki and Ulisses stuck in the apartment. Paco is attacked by Tony’s hoodlums. Raí visits Afonso. Tony opens the valve to the gas tank on the boat. Barbara finds out that Tony tried to kill Paco and decides to go to the boat but is hesitant about untying Paco.
Chapter 105: Wednesday, 05/26/2004 – Afonso apologizes to Preta – Barbara saves Paco. Afonso gets emotional over Raí. Barbara leaves when Paco asks her who tried to kill him. Tony gets angry when he learns that Barbara saved Apolo. Edilásia insists that Paco leave. Moa finds out Sal’s whereabouts. Paco says goodbye to the family and leaves on his motorcycle. Sal asks Moa to leave him in the clinic, and she promises to visit him. Abelardo is forever fleeing Tina’s harassment. Thor and Dio demand that Tina be thrown out of the house. Paco asks to stay in Moa’s house. Tancinha enters Helinho’s house through the window and vows that she’s staying. Comandante Frazão (Sidney Magal) surfs. Thor and Dio become fans of the experienced surfer. Edgard, the scientist from Afonso’s firm, tells Preta that he’s remorseful and will tell Afonso the truth. Moa tells Paco to go find out the truth. Barbara cuts off the electricity and throws Tony out. Edgard confesses everything, and Afonso apologizes to Preta. She asks for respect and for him to forgive Edgard. Paco knocks on Barbara’s door.
Chapter 106: Thursday, 05/27/2004 - Paco suspects he’s Apolo’s twin – Paco insists in knowing who attacked him and why Barbara saved him. Barbara says nothing. Preta gives the dollars that were planted in her house to Edgard so that he can pay off his debts. Tony denies everything, but Afonso orders him to be thrown out of the building. Verinha and Edu argue with Ulisses and Becky, who want to leave. Abelardo dresses in a suit of armor to get away from Tina. Edilásia gets Ulisses out of Verinha’s apartment. Helinho mistreats Tancinha. Some men ask Saint Tancinha to perform miracles. Sal hides under the bed when Nivea arrives to visit Kika. Barbara goes into a panic when she finds out Afonso discovered the chicanery. When Afonso says he’s come for Otávio, Barbara lies and says that he’s in a retreat. Afonso accuses Tony, and orders Barbara to break away from him. Paco throws out feelers to find out if there’s a connection between Apolo and the Lambertini family. Preta tells him to ask Edilásia. Paco comes to the conclusion that he’s Apolo’s twin.
Chapter 107: Friday, 05/28/2004 - Tina announces her pregnancy; Preta plans her wedding –
Afonso says he won’t let his grandson stay under the same roof as a criminal. Barbara begs Tony to stop insisting in continuing their marriage for fear that their plans will go under. Paco is happy about the possibility that Edilásia might be his mother. Barbara cries and confesses to Afonso that she believed in Tony. Afonso insists that she has to break off with Tony. Some pilgrims break into the house and beat Helinho, who tries to get rid of them. Tancinha cures Helinho, and Cezinha throws himself at her feet. Tina is pregnant. Edilásia cries with emotion. Verinha and Beki come to blows on Ulisses’ boat. Edilásia throws them both out, and Ulisses cries on her shoulder. Preta invites Germana to her wedding and tells her she’s going to set the wedding date for the following week. Tony tells Barbara that they’re going to pretend that they’re separated, but they’ll continue married. Paco finds an album in his mother’s house full of clippings about his life. Edilásia freezes when he asks if Paco was her son.
Chapter 108: Saturday, 05/29/2004 – Edilásia confesses her secret to Paco – Edilásia confesses that Paco and Apolo are twins. Edilásia cries over Paco’s death and says she didn’t approach him because she wanted to protect Apolo. They both cry and hug each other. Preta doesn’t accept Afonso’s offer to have the wedding celebration at his house. Otávio sleeps at Raí’s house. Edilásia tells Germana to stay far away from her son. Otávio tells Raí that he’s going to run away to his father’s house. Kaike gets emotional when Otávio knocks on his door. Barbara has a fit when she learns that Otávio slept at Raí’s house and ran away. Beki swears she’s in love with Ulisses. Kaike plans to travel with Otávio. Barbara accuses Preta but gets upset when Raí says that Otávio went to look for his father. Helinho argues with the pilgrims who bang on the door. Otávio phones to calm his mother, but she hangs up and pretends to Afonso that it was a wrong number and continues to accuse Preta of kidnapping. Preta fights with Barbara. Ulisses becomes perplexed when he learns that Paco is his brother.
Chapter 109: Monday, 05/31/2004 – Afonso orders his security guards to keep Barbara under surveillance – Ulisses is happy to learn that Paco is his brother. Raí insists that Otávio went to see his father. Barbara asks Tony for help. Germana tries to convince Afonso that Otávio might not be Paco’s son. Afonso orders Barbara to be kept under surveillance. Kaike calls to calm Barbara. Beki, Verinha, and Edu discover that the balustrade on the boat is made of gold. The pilgrims barge into Helinho’s home and carry Tancinha like a saint. Febrônio takes over Tancinha’s body and beats up the pilgrims. Eduardo, Beki and Verinha steal the gold. Pereira, Afonso’s security guard, follows Barbara and Toni but crashes into a car. Ulisses get panic-stricken when he seas the balustrade was stolen. Barbara goes to the hotel where Kaike and Otávio are staying. When Kaike goes out, Barbara takes advantage of it and takes Otávio with her. Germana is moved when Paco embraces her. Kaike finds Tony in the room.
Chapter 110: Tuesday, 06/01/2004 – Tony makes Kaike leave Otávio – Otávio wants to stay with his father and no longer wants to lie to Afonso. Tony ties up Kaike. Afonso goes to Barbara’s house and complains about her failure to tell him about Otávio’s return. Barbara invents a lie and pretends to be offended when she finds out she was followed. Paco asks Germana for information about Preta. Edilásia argues with Germana because she searched for her son. Brad catches Sal and Kika kissing. Sal beats up Brad and is defended by the patients. Ulisses barges into Verinha’s apartment and finds the gold. The three of them propose a partnership. Helinho and Cezinha are forced to take Tancinha to their house. Febrônio demands some men’s clothes. Edilásia mistreats Frazão. Paco visits Preta and asks to meet his nephew, Raí, but she not agreeable. Tony threatens to kill Kaike if he doesn’t call Otávio. Kaike orders Otávio to forget him. Preta goes to buy her wedding gown. Paco enters the bridal store without being seen and kisses Preta in the dressing room.
Chapter 111: Wednesday, 06/02/2004 – Paco asks Preta not to marry Felipe – Paco asks Preta not to get married because he thinks she doesn’t love Felipe. Preta throws Paco out and tells him she was kissing her old boyfriend, not him. Otávio can’t come to terms with his father’s phone call. Barbara assures Otávio that Kaike is bad. Olivia follows Barbara because she mistrusts that Barbara did something to Kaike. Barbara stops Tony from killing Kaike. Nivea demands that Sal be thrown out of the hospital. Edu says that only Marinha, the woman that Febrônio loved, can bring him back. Verinha, Eduardo and Beki throw a party to celebrate their new life. Helinho embodies Marinha. A police official orders Eduardo, Beki, and Verinha to be put in jail. Moa insists in knowing why Paco is sad. Unknowingly, Edilásia ends up saying that Preta is getting married that day, which infuriates Moa. Afonso compliments Germana. Barbara begs Tony not to kill Kaike, and he gives in. Preta enters the church with Raí. Paco secretly watches them. Olivia frees Kaike. Preta discovers that Paco is in the church, and they stare at one another just when it’s time for her to say, “I do.”
Chapter 112: Thursday, 06/03/2004 – Kaike tells Germana
that he’s Otávio’s father – Paco is devastated when Preta says, “I do.”
Olivia and Kaike who manage to get away from Silva, who’s following them. Raí
asks why Afonso and Germana don’t get married, which makes both of them
uncomfortable. Paco cries when he sees Preta dance the “tambor de crioula” at
her wedding celebration. Tony reacts angrily when he learns that Kaike escaped,
but Barbara is relieved. A police officer finds the gold and arrests everyone,
including Ulisses. Frazão talks about being a widower, and Edilásia feels sorry
for him. Gaudencio tries to convince Febrônio to leave with Marinha. Edilásia
and Frazão confront each other on the tatame mat, and he wins. Helinho and
Tancinha return. Ulisses, Verinha and Edu find out that they’re in a wasteland
and that they were set up by Beki. Vinicius and his lover, Beki celebrate. Moa
and Paco say goodbye to Sal. Barbara arrives with Otávio at Afonso’s house.
Kaike knocks on the door to Afonso’s house. Barbara orders the security guards
to send Kaike away, but he manages to get into Germana’s car. Silva keeps Tony
informed. Kaike tells Germana that Otávio is his son.
Chapter 113: Friday, 06/04/2004 – Edilásia sighs with love for Frazão - Paco kisses Moa and tells her the two of them are going away the next day. Germana promises to take Afonso to the hotel where Kaike is living. Kaike realizes he’s being followed, gets into a bus, and Silva loses him from sight. Barbara gets mad when Germana says she spoke to Otávio’s father. Edilásia sighs with love for Frazão. Thor, Dio, and Abelardo become very annoyed. Tancinha and Helinho tell Cezinha that they’re going to live a normal life. Marinha returns and torments Cezinha. Frazão brings a gift for Edilásia. Vinicius runs off with a woman and the gold, swindling Beki. Germana tells Afonso that she heard from Kaike and asks Afonso to go meet with him. Barbara attacks Germana. Afonso decides to go, and Barbara goes with him. Tony puts a gun to Olivia’s head and finds out where Kaike is. Moa faints in Paco’s arms. Preta gets disappointed when she learns that Paco left. Afonso, Germana, and Barbara enter the room, but Kaike isn’t there.
Chapter 114: Saturday, 06/05/2004 – Kaike, between life and death – Silva leaves Kaike tied up. Paco insists that Moa go to the doctor. Barbara demands that Afonso fire Germana. Tony tells Olivia to forget Kaike. Silva shoots at Kaike. Beki asks for Eduardo, Verinha, and Ulisses to accept her back, but they want revenge. Frazão enters Edilásia’s room and kisses her. Thor, Dio and Abelardo get jealous, take Napoleõ’s portrait, and run away from home. Tancinha runs out when she sees Helinho possessed by Marinha. The boys return home the following morning but without the portrait. Edilásia goes out in search of the portrait. Eduardo, Verinha, Beki and Ulisses seek clues about Vinicius. Barbara despairs when she finds out that Kaike died. The doctor asks for an MRI for Moa. Paco and Moa return to the beach. Paco gets concerned when he learns that Preta came looking for him. Two men find Kaike still breathing. Paco seeks Preta. Raí is surprised to come face to face with him and asks if he’s Paco.
Chapter 115: Monday, 06/07/2004 – Raí tells Afonso that he met Paco’s double – Preta explains to Raí that the man is someone who looks very much like his father. Paco is touched to meet Raí. Germana tells Afonso that Kaike was ready to reveal something about Barbara. Preta asks Paco to get away from her and Raí. Otávio asks for Kaike, and Barbara avoids answering. Olivia demands that Barbara tell her where Kaike is, and Barbara pretends she doesn’t know anything. Sal helps Kika escape from the hospital. Marinha tries to seduce Cezinha. Verinha finds the gold in Vinicius’ house and puts it in Eduardo’s car. Vinicius leaves with the car, but it overturns and the gold is stolen by the crowd. Nivea asks Brad to find Kika. Preta asks Olivia if she would have the courage to tell Afonso everything she knows. Paco invites Germana to lunch, infuriating Edilásia. Barbara tells Tony that Olivia is going to get even with them. A nurse takes care of Kaike. Raí tells Afonso that he met someone just like Paco.
Chapter 116: Tuesday, 06/08/2004 – Afonso finds Raí and Paco – Afonso is intrigued by Raí’s news. Tony tells Barbara that he’s going to put a scare into Olivia. Paco tells his brothers that Edilásia has a right to love if she wants. Germana tells Paco to go to Afonso, but he refuses. Tony tells Otávio that Kaike abandoned him, which upsets him. Ulisses announces to his family that he’s poor. Eduardo and Verinha resolve to try to stop fighting but can’t manage to. Beki returns to live with Eduardo and Verinha. Olivia finds her apartment ransacked. Edilásia promises her sons that she’ll never meet Frazão again. Paco hides Kika and Sal in Ulisses’ boat. Frazão declares himself to Edilásia and hugs her. Her sons catch them. Brad and his hoodlum friends search for Kika at Moa’s house. Paco invites Raí to go to the fencing club with him. Barbara consoles Otávio. Afonso finds Paco and Raí at the fencing club.
Chapter 117: Wednesday, 06/09/2004 – Paco finds Afonso in his boat – Afonso gets very emotional seeing Paco and Raí. Paco gets perturbed and leaves. Abelardo, Thor, and Dionisio decide to leave the house in protest against Edilásia’s betrayal. Moa tells Paco that he should give Afonso another chance. Preta anguishes when she realizes that Raí and Paco are getting close. A judge gets interested in Beki, and Verinha decides to help her win him over. Frazão apologizes to Edilásia, and they kiss again. Edilásia asks Frazão to keep away from her and feels guilty about what she did. Beki acts flirtatiously with the judge. Germana reveals to Edilásia that Afonso met her son, and Edilásia gets upset. Brad finds Nivea trying to start a fire in the house and decides to call a doctor. The judge gets too excited, has a heart attack from the excitement. and dies in Beki’s presence. Kaike continues to be delirious from the fever. Paco finds Afonso in his boat.
Chapter 118: Thursday, 06/10/2004 – Afonso finds out that Apolo is Edilásia’s son – Afonso asks to talk to Paco. Tony tells Barbara that they can’t do anything against Paco because Afonso will distrust them. Much to Preta’s despair, Raí finds out that Paco is Edilásia’s son. Paco refuses to talk to Afonso and decides to leave the city. Moa offers the basement of her house for Kika to hide. The doctor tells Brad that Nivea needs to be admitted to the hospital, but he won’t allow it. Verinha, Beki and Eduardo ransack the judge’s apartment. Frazão tells Thor, Dionisio and Abelardo that he wants to marry Edilásia, and the three of them challenge him to a duel. Germana explains to Preta that she doesn’t have the courage to tell Afonso the truth about the twins. Raí comments to Afonso that Edilásia is Apolo’s mother. Afonso goes into a state of shock. Moa decides to leave with Paco. Olivia receives a phone call from the hospital where Kaike is being treat and finds out he’s still alive. Edilásia says goodbye to Paco. Afonso asks Edilásia if Apolo is her son.
Chapter 119: Friday, 06/11/2004 - Otávio hears Tony say that Kaike is dead – Edilásia tries to deny it, but Afonso realizes that Apolo is his son too. Afonso asks Edilásia not to stop him from getting to know Apolo. Otávio hears Tony commenting that Kaike is dead. The nurse tells Olivia that Kaike is in a coma but will survive. Ulisses tries to save the Academia Sardinha with the help of his brothers. Frazão tries to talk to Thor and Dionisio, who get ready to fight with him. Thor, Abelardo, and Dionisio make Edilásia swear that she’ll never see Frazão again. Verinha and Eduardo, in disguise, rent the judge’s apartment to Strondelli, an opera singer. Kika calls the house, and Brad and tells her that Nivea is having an attack. Moa starts to feel ill, and Paco decides to return. Olivia reveals to Preta that she found Kaike. Paco asks Moa to seek treatment, and they argue when she refuses. Tony is intrigued to find out that Olivia went to the city where Kaike was found dead. Otávio asks Barbara if Kaike is dead. Afonso calls Paco “son.”
Chapter 120: Saturday, 06/12/2004 – Barbara plays Afonso against Germana – Paco rejects Afonso, saying that he wants nothing that comes from him. Otávio despairs when Barbara tells him Kaike died. Afonso asks Paco to give him a chance and tells him he’s not going to give up. Barbara asks Otávio not to tell anyone that Kaike died. Verinha and Eduardo are bothered by Strondelli’s singing. Strondelli sees Beki, Eduardo and Verinha together and is intrigued. Frazão goes to Edilásia’s house at midnight and explains that he can’t control his feelings. Edilásia tells Frazão to hide so that her sons don’t discover him. Evaristo, owner of the apartment, throws Strondelli out. Ulisses despairs because his Academy is about to go into bankruptcy. Germana asks Paco to give Afonso a chance. Barbara tells Afonso that Germana already knew about Apolo’s existence. Moa refuses to take her medication, and Sal decides to leave her house. Raí assures Paco that Afonso is a nice guy. Afonso asks Germana why she lied to him.
Chapter 121: Monday. 06/14/2004 – After arguing with Moa, Paco kisses Preta – Afonso accuses Germana of having hidden his son and tells her she can no longer stay at the house. Raí tells Paco to try to get close to Afonso. Barbara celebrates her victory over Germana. Otávio breaks things in his room. To Olivia’s relief, Kaike almost dies but is saved. Germana cries and packs her things. Moa tells Paco that she resumed treatment, and the two of them kiss. Kika gets upset to see her mother insane. Raí asks Afonso to forgive Germana, but he remains steadfast. Edilásia decides that Abelardo is going to fight against the invincible fighter, Maciste Brasil, to win a prize and pay Ulisses’ debts. Strondelli refuses to leave the apartment. Abelardo defeats Maciste. Paco accuses Afonso of having killed his son and throws him out of the house. Moa chastises him. Paco argues with Moa and goes to Preta’s house. They end up kissing.
Chapter 122: Tuesday, 06/15/2004 – Preta orders Paco to leave. Germana asks Eva to remind Afonso of his medication. Moa confesses that she’d like to have a child with Paco. Paco reflects that she’ll need to get well before. Germana asks Paco to give Afonso a chance. Raí assures Afonso that he’s going to get close to his son. Pimenta (David Cardoso), a friend of Frazão’s, invites Abelardo to star in a film about wrestling. Pai Gaudencio removes all the spirits from Helinho. Raí takes Afonso to the boat. Paco recommends that the DNA test be done again, but Afonso assures him he loves Raí like a grandson. Barbara is preoccupied with the possibility that Kaike is alive and accuses Tony of incompetence. Kaike recovers his senses. Paco complains to Afonso about having fired Germana. Raí pretends to be very hurt. Paco and Afonso worry. Tony and Silva see Olivia, who flees. Tony and Silva search the clinic, looking for Kaike.

Chapter 124: Thursday, 06/17/2004 – Afonso asks Otávio if Kaike is his father – Kaike asks Preta to take care of his son. Edilásia wants Paco far away from Afonso. Barbara grabs Otávio away from Germana’s arms and accuses Preta of kidnapping. Otávio refuses to say where Kaike is. Paco thinks about Preta when he kisses Moa. Abelardo goes to the studio by force. Cezinha attends to the clients with Tancinha’s help. Helinho finds out, but the clients ignore him. While everyone celebrates, Abelardo cries when he sees the film. Kika and Sal argue over the day-to-day things. Barbara finds out where Kaike is. Olivia tells Germana and Preta that Kaike is going to Afonso’s house. Chapter 125: Friday, 06/18/2004 – Afonso asks for a DNA test for Otávio – Otávio lies and says he’s Paco’s son. Kaike despairs, and Barbara plays the victim. Preta goes to Moa’s house to get Raí. The clients are disgusted by Cezinha and Tancinha’s exploits and trash Pai Helinho’s house. Brad and Solano fight with Thor and Dio at the party. Eduardo and Verinha play Beki’s jealous parents when Evaristo shows up with flowers. Afonso promotes Felipe to director and says he’s going to share the firm’s profits with the staff. Felipe meets Carla (Francisca Queiroz), his new assistant. Barbara switches Otávio’s blood sample with Raí’s. When Germana confesses she’s in love with Afonso, Preta tells her to fight for him. Sal insists that Moa should tell the truth to Paco, but she remains steadfast. Kaike takes a punch at Tony. Preta has a fever, and Raí takes her to his grandfather’s house. Barbara flirts with Paco, who throws her off the boat. Afonso announces his sale of the businesses at a press conference. Olivia tells Kaike that a package arrived for him. Verinha and Eduardo ask Barbara for help, but she throws them out of her house. Thor writes his goodbye letter. Abelardo’s theater piece premieres and is booed by the audience. Thor cries when he gets defeated by Abelardo, Dio, Frazão and Tina. Verinha agrees that Eduardo and Beki can stay as long as play the role of servants. Thor is adored by many intellectual girls. Jibóia tells Kaike that they’re plotting to kill him and pretends to fight with him to get Kaike put into solitary confinement so that he won’t risk being killed. Tony burns a photo of Barbara. Pereira locates Tony, and Afonso goes there with Paco. Sal apologizes to Moa for the kiss. Moa tells him to get ready for the surfing championship. Edilásia throws Thor’s poetry admirers out of her house. Afonso barges into Tony’s house, and they exchange threats. Evaristo serves cookies laced with sedatives to Edu, Beki and Verinha. Abelardo films with a female fighter, Greta Bazaóv (Samara Felippo) and falls in love. Beki discovers that the three of them were doped and that Evaristo has three coffins waiting for them. Beki is surprised by Evaristo, and he grabs her. Zuleide brings Helinho some coconut ice, and he’s falls more deeply in love with her. Chapter 146: Tuesday, 07/13/2004 - Afonso rescues Barbara – Paco and Preta kiss. Kaike arrives at Olivia’s house. Tony is advised about Kaike’s escape and tells Barbara, who shows no reaction. Barbara is very weak, and Tony gives her a bit of water. Paco asks Preta to get her suitcase and move in with Raí. Otávio tells Raí that Barbara is Tony’s prisoner. Preta and Paco say they’re going to live together. Afonso thinks their decision is rushed. Germana proposes a toast to the couple. Kika gets sad when Sal says their relationship is over. Raí asks not to have to leave Afonso’s house so hurriedly. Preta lets him stay with Afonso. Tina cries because she was abandoned by Thor. Abelardo suffers because Thor is with Greta. Edilásia calls her sons together to rescue Thor. Greta ties Thor up so that he won’t leave. Helinho agrees to Pilar (Carolina Holanda) coming to live with him, Roberval gives Helinho some seduction tips, and he sends Pilar away. Edilásia and Tina fight against Greta. Abelardo and Dio free Thor. Edilásia undoes Greta’s pigtails. Verinha and Beki go to a wake and pretend to be the wife and daughter of the deceased, Almeidinha. Edu pretends to be the betrayed husband. Raí tells Afonso that Barbara is Tony’s prisoner. Otávio indicates where the house is. Tony dresses in a smoking jacket and gives Barbara a dress, but she can hardly lift her arm. Kaike enters Afonso’s house, with Germana’s help, and gives Otávio a warm hug. Silva informs Tony that Afonso and his security force have surrounded the house. Barbara recovers some of her strength, runs out, and asks Afonso for help before fainting in his arms.
Capítulo 147: Wednesday, 07/14/2004 – Kaike seeks Paco’s help – Silva and Tony flee through a cellar. Barbara tells Afonso that she remained as Tony’s hostage so that Tony would let Otávio go. Kaike insists on talking to Afonso and in taking a test to prove he’s Otávio’s father. Paco teachers Preta to plant roses, and she’s impressed that he has the same likes as her old love. Barbara creates a scene when she sees Kaike in Afonso’s house and demands that Afonso call the police. Afonso won’t agree to a new DNA test. Barbara pressures Otávio, and he goes with her. Tony leaves a message for Barbara and says he’s returning. Abelardo unties Greta. She decides to leave for the tatame with him, and he gets transformed. Verinha and Beki discover that the deceased was bankrupt. Eduardo suggests that they ask Barbara for help. Abelardo tells the family that he wants to marry Greta. Barbara gives away Kaike’s whereabouts. The police show up at Olivia’s apartment, but Kaike manages to hide from them. Eduardo and Beki ask Barbara for help. She gets annoyed because they didn’t even perceive that she was hurt and throws them out. Otávio tells his mother that Preta and Paco are together, and she gets furious. Germana asks Afonso to clarify the situation with the heirs so that Otávio doesn’t remain as his sole heir. With contempt, Brad observes Sal and Moa’s success when they sell clothes on the beach. Felipe doesn’t show much reaction when Afonso tells him that Preta and Paco are living together. Kaike goes to the cabana and asks to speak to Paco.
Chapter 148: Thursday, 07/15/2004 – Tony flagrantly catches Borja– Kaike tells Paco that Barbara falsified Otávio’s DNA test and that Raí is Paco’s true son. Raí agrees to go live at the cabana. Barbara tells Otávio that he’s going to change schools to stay far away from Raí. Kaike asks Paco to get close to Barbara to get evidence. Afonso visits Otávio. Kaike insists that Barbara loves Paco and that only he will be able to unmask her. Preta asks Kaike not to involve her, but he says that they’re both risking danger. Moa and Sal prepare the clothes for a fashion show. Guilherme says that it’ll be a success. Raí arrives at Paco’s house, and Paco gives him a wood boat. Sal is applauded at the end of the fashion show at the beach. Brad and his group boo. Paco asks Raí to look at him as a father. Greta makes pap for Abelardo, who feels sad. Edilásia asks Thor and Tina to save Abelardo. They barge into Greta’s house, and Edilásia invites Greta to live with them. Helinho sighs for Zuleide. Barbara sees Preta and Paco kissing. Afonso closes the deal to sell his businesses. Barbara goes to the restaurant where Preta works and accuses her of being a criminal. Preta tells her to get away from Paco and almost comes to blows with her. The head waiter holds her back. Afonso asks Borja to include Raí and Apolo as his beneficiaries. Marina asks Tony to forget his hatred for Afonso. Silva keeps a watchful eye on Borja. Barbara shows up with Otávio at Paco’s job, where he’s building a boat. Paco tells Barbara that he loves Preta. Tony barges into the hotel room where Borja is spending time with a young man. Preta sees Barbara kissing Paco on the face.
Chapter 149: Friday, 07/16/2004 – Paco searches for evidence against Barbara – Barbara says goodbye to Paco and insinuates that she’ll see him later. Preta thinks Barbara and Paco have planned something together. Tony shows Borja the compromising photos he has of him and tells him he’ll have to give him a document. Preta asks Paco to promise to stay away from Barbara. Paco says he can’t abandon Otávio and tells Barbara that she’ll never be able to achieve what she wants. Germana says that she doesn’t want to inherit any money from Afonso. Tony surprises Barbara taking the place of her masseuse in a spa. Barbara tells Tony that their partnership is over. Tony orders her to call Afonso and threatens to tell him everything. Barbara gives in. Tony demands that Barbara get rid of the security guards because he’s going to return home. Sal and Moa have dinner with Guilherme. Guilherme tells them he’s going to open a store and that Sal will be the designer and model. Sal perceives that Guilherme is flirting with Moa. Moa gets perturbed that Preta is the chef. Otávio is shocked to see that Tony has returned home. Moa apologizes to Preta, wishes that she’ll be happy in her marriage, and says that she’ll find out a lot of things about her husband. Paco says he’s not hiding anything from Preta. Tina threatens to leave. Zuleide asks Helinho for protection. Roque searches the house and only finds Cezinha in the closet. Otávio says he’s not going to tell Afonso that Tony returned. Kaike asks Paco to get the key to Barbara’s house, which is kept in the closet. Paco goes to Barbara’s house. Afonso explains to Otávio and Raí that they’ll be his heirs over and above Paco. Preta signs the documents. Borja puts the document in a briefcase. Barbara and Paco dance together, and when she’s almost kissing him, the doorbell rings. Barbara locks Paco in the closet. Tony shows Barbara the documents that Borja gave him. Tony is distrusting when Barbara orders him to leave. Tony searches the house and opens the door to the closet.
Chapter 150: Saturday, 07/17/2004 – Paco tapes Tony’s confession –Tony searches through the closet but don’t find Paco. Barbara plays the music loud so that Paco can’t hear them talk. Barbara tells Tony to leave. Barbara hugs Paco and asks for protection. Preta has a premonition when she doesn’t find Paco home. Barbara says she’s being blackmailed by Tony. Barbara tries to kiss Paco, and he leaves. Preta waits for Paco at the door to Barbara’s house. Paco tells Preta he’s trying to catch Tony. Preta asks him to swear that he didn’t touch Barbara. Afonso asks about Tony and perceives that Otávio is lying. Because of Moa’s jealousy, Sal no longer wants to do business with Guilherme. Afonso insists that Paco accept the inheritance, and Paco tells him to donate his part. Greta and Tina argue. Edilásia gives Greta an amount of time in which to get pregnant. Everyone is impressed with Abelardo’s change in behavior. Zuleide says she’s in love with Helinho. Roberval leaves. Helinho decides to confront Roque. Tina puts garlic powder on Greta’s plate. Greta eats all of it and everyone runs away from her because of her smell. Helinho says he loves Zuleide, which angers Roque. Edu makes a speech and gets together some beggars to barge into the construction houses. Thor puts on makeup and dances until he’s surprised by Dio. Kaike insists that Paco return to Barbara’s house and take the key. Paco takes Barbara flowers. Paco fakes pain when she wants to take him to the bedroom. Otávio doesn’t accept Paco’s collection of figures and says he doesn’t want to lie any more. Tony warns that he’s on his way, and Barbara sends Paco away. Paco shows the key to Kaike, and Kaike gives him a tape recorder. Paco tapes Barbara and Tony talking about the switch in Otávio’s blood for Raí’s.
Chapter 151: Monday, 07/19/2004 – Paco shows the tape to Afonso – Paco hides and tapes the conversation between Tony and Barbara about the switch of blood samples for the DNA test. Kaike hears the conversation by tapping into the tape recorder and loves it. Paco can’t manage to leave Barbara’s house. Otávio tells Afonso and Germana that he’s a liar but doesn’t reveal anything when he’s pressured. Tony finds Paco hiding. Tony accuses Barbara of meeting with Paco and threatens Paco. Kaike despairs as he hears the conversation. Tony has the feeling that Paco wanted to hear their conversation and must have made a copy of the key. Barbara searches Paco, but doesn’t find the tape recorder, which he hid in a piece of furniture in the house. Preta goes to Afonso’s house, worried because Paco didn’t show up for dinner. Raí consoles Otávio. Tony gets ready to kill Paco, but Barbara hurls herself on top of him and prevents him from doing it. Dio tells Thor he thinks he’s turning gay, which worries him. Roque throws knives at Cezinha. Pai Helinho and Zuleide hide. To their mutual surprise, Abelardo eats beef, and Thor enjoys some cheese from France. Edilásia, Tina, Greta, Dio, Abelardo and Frazão are horrified to see Thor putting on a performance playing castanets. Everyone cries, and Edilásia promises to save her son. Zuleide, Cezinha and Helinho dress as widows but are discovered by Roque, who grabs his wife. Eduardo, Beki and Verinha drink cachaça and dance pagode. Kaike phones the police, who go to Barbara and Tony’s house. Paco escapes with the tape recorder. Tony argues with Barbara. Paco prevents Afonso from throwing Kaike out of his house and plays the tape for all to hear.
Chapter 152: Tuesday, 07/20/2004 – Afonso takes revenge against Barbara – Afonso is shaken to hear Barbara’s confession and asks Preta to forgive him. Tony tells Barbara that Apolo took advantage of her good faith. Afonso tells Kaike that Otávio will continue being his grandson and heir. Kaike hugs Otávio, who’s in the tree house. Afonso tells Otávio that Kaike is now his friend. Barbara goes to Afonso’s house, but the security guards prevent her from entering. Afonso orders Pereira to follow Barbara and Tony, who leaves after her. Otávio is excited to learn that he’s Kaike’s son. Otávio confirms that he wants to stay with Kaike, and Afonso suggests they travel. Pereira kidnaps Tony. Edilásia orders Dio to stay away from Thor. Tina tempts Thor, but all he wants is to get his castanets back. Thor runs away from the house and dances in the square. Brad and his pit boys jeer. Helinho sees Roque throwing knives at Zuleide. Edilásia takes Thor home. Helinho beats Roque with a stick and flees with Zuleide. Afonso decides to talk to Barbara in private. The security guards capture Tony in an abandoned warehouse. Afonso gives Barbara a necklace after telling her that Paco is in love with her and that Germana and Raí were tearing him away from her. Germana worries about Afonso. Afonso invites Barbara to go for a ride and takes her to a great mansion, which he says will be hers. Afonso asks Barbara to wear a beautiful dress and come down for dinner. Happily, Barbara gets dressed up, but the wall starts to tremble and crumbles. Horrified, she realizes that the house is being demolished.
Chapter 153: Wednesday, 07/21/2004 – Barbara refuses Afonso’s proposal – Barbara descends the stairs and finds Afonso waiting for her. Afonso tells her that the house fell down and that she’ll never have anything. Afonso grabs the necklace from Barbara’s neck, accuses her of having killed Paco, and says she’ll end up penniless. Afonso takes Barbara to the warehouse, Tony threatens him, and Afonso says he doesn’t fear the law and will get his revenge. Afonso orders Barbara to be taken away and guarantees that Tony’s life will get much worse. Raí is excited that he’s really Paco’s son and gets sad for Otávio. Paco gets uneasy when Preta says that the lies are over. Afonso demands that Barbara confess. Barbara says she was only as ambitious as Afonso was and that everyone just wants his money. Afonso loses his temper when she refers to Raí as “o mulatinho”. Afonso proposes that Barbara let him have custody of Otávio, that she denounce Tony, and says he won’t send her to jail. Barbara screams that she won’t accept any agreement with him, and Afonso orders her thrown out on the street with nothing. Edilásia makes a soup for Dio to fight with Brad. Greta, who’s Pedra’s sister, promises to get the soup for Brad and his group, but they’ll have to say that it was Tina. Greta steals a little of the soup and adds some new ingredients to the cauldron. Helinho, Zuleide and Cezinha buy a circus truck and head for Rio de Janeiro. Guilherme gives Moa a pair of earrings and kisses her. Silva picks up Barbara, who’s disoriented, on the street and asks her to show him where Tony is being kept. Silva frees Tony. Afonso says he’s very proud to have Preta as his daughter-in-law and gives her an emerald necklace.
Chapter 154: Thursday, 07/22/2004 – Preta confronts Barbara – Barbara accuses Tony of having ruined everything. Tony says that the war is still not lost. Pereira tells Afonso that Tony escaped. Tony tells Barbara that Afonso had to have made her a proposal, but he has a better one. Barbara locks Tony in the bathroom and escapes. Barbara looks for Paco and asks him to marry her and have a child with her. Tony calls Afonso and tells him that Barbara has become totally crazy. Barbara disappears. Tony orders Borja to get the tape. Olivia insists that Kaike flee. Afonso shows Borja the tape recording, and Borja tells him it’s not sufficient proof to have Tony arrested. Borja tells Afonso that he already set in motion the matter of the beneficiaries and the bank. Dio drinks the soup and turns purple. Brad, Pedra and Minotauro drink the soup, go to the tatame, and win the match against Dio. When the match ends, they thank Tina for the soup. Helinho decides to put on shows on the road but is booed by the audience. Tina alleges her innocence, but no one believes her. Dio wakes up wise. Eduardo, Verinha, and Beki go to a churrasco at their neighbor’s. Preta arrives at home and finds Barbara, who threatens her. Borja gets the tape. Preta confronts Barbara who shoots in the air and later locks her in the bathroom. Barbara rips up photos of Preta and Raí and sets them on fire. Paco arrives and Barbara demands that he declare himself for her, or else she won’t turn over the gun. Preta coughs in the bathroom from the smoke.
Chapter 155: Friday, 07/23/2004 – Germana distrusts Paco’s disguise – Paco gets Preta out of the bathroom, and they hug each other. Barbara says she’s not a criminal. Paco hugs her and gets the weapon away from her. Afonso orders Barbara taken to the apartment where she lived. Preta can’t conform herself with Paco getting so involved, but he tells her he needs to help his father. Afonso insists that Barbara accept his proposal or else he’ll get her admitted into a clinic. Paco arrives and Barbara throws herself into his arms, telling Afonso that she’s going to marry his son. Two nurses take Barbara. Silva sees everything. Afonso finalizes the sale of his businesses. Stela tells Afonso that the tape disappeared. Dio decides to attend a lecture about nuclear astrophysics. Helinho, Cezinha, and Zuleide rehearse. Dio impresses all the scientists. Edilásia removes her son from the lecture. Roque finds Helinho, Cezinha, and Zuleide and pursues them, throwing knives at them. Kika tells Sal that he loves Moa. Afonso asks Kaike to take refuge in one of his farms. Tony dresses like a nurse and gets through the security with Barbara on a trolley. At the hotel, Tony shows Barbara the tape. Germana sees a scar on Paco’s foot. Tony loves hearing that Barbara’s gun stayed at Paco’s house. Germana remembers the incident when Paco hurt his foot when he was a child and is sure that he’s alive.
Chapter 156: Saturday, 07/24/2004 – Paco reveals his identity to Germana – Afonso asks Germana if she’s okay, and she says she dreamed with Paco. Silva finds the gun in Paco’s closet, wipes off the fingerprints, and puts it back in the same place. Germana asks Afonso how he would feel if his dead son were to return. Afonso says he’d be happy, but at the same time horrified that his son had faked his death. Paco buries the gun, and Silva gets it and hands it over to Tony. Moa receives a present from Guilherme. Sal gets furious and says he loves Moa. Moa tells Sal that it’s a fantasy and doesn’t accept his kiss. Sal packs up his things. Edilásia knocks Dio in the head to get him to return to normal, but he continues to be a genius. Edilásia asks Greta to find a way to help her deal with Dio. Roque continues to follow the trio. Eduardo leads a demonstration of the “Beggars’ Nation”. Tina and Greta come to blows. Sal leaves, and Moa gets upset. Thor, Dio and Abelardo find Sal shining shoes on the street. Germana is sure that Apolo is Paco. Afonso hires a new security guard, Jamil. Germana takes Paco to the house where he had an accident when he was a child. Jamil talks to Tony, who orders him to act. Afonso feels a sharp pain in his heart. Paco cries when he recalls the day his mother died. Germana asks Paco why he lied to her.
Chapter 157: Monday, 07/26/2004 – Afonso finds out the truth – Paco ends up confessing that he’s alive, and Germana, after a moment of tenderness, explodes at him for having lied to everyone. Felipe takes the separation papers to Preta for her to sign. Paco tells Germana everything that happened, and Germana encourages him to reveal it to everyone. Tony continues keeping Barbara prisoner. Afonso tells Preta that Raí is going to inherit $500 million. Germana tells Paco that he should tell the truth. Verinha tells Eduardo that Barbara’s apartment is empty. Moa tries to convince Sal to return home, but he prefers to stay in the garage with the surfboards. Germana says Paco has something to say, but he doesn’t speak the truth and rushes out. Greta seduces Frazão. Edilásia says she wouldn’t be able to bear it if Apolo were to die. Paco insists in knowing how Preta would react if Paco were to return. Eduardo and Verinha go to the inauguration of the Paco Lambertini Foundation, and Otávio runs away from them. Afonso tells them he already knows about Barbara’s fraudulent scheme and orders them to leave. Afonso gives a speech and gets sick. Dr. Vilhena calms everyone. Afonso signs a document that Borja brings him without reading it. Jamil tells Tony that Paco, Germana, and Afonso are home. Tony gets the gun that Tony buried and goes to the mansion. Paco embraces Afonso and says he loves him. Paco and Afonso speak of the past, and Afonso discovers that Paco is his dead son.
Chapter 158: Tuesday, 07/27/2004 – Tony shoots Afonso – Afonso staggers when Paco says that Apolo died and he took his place. Paco asks for forgiveness, but Afonso accuses him of having been a monster, full of coldness and egotism. Paco cries when Afonso says he lost both his sons. Raí, Otávio and Preta arrive at the island. Paco tells Afonso that they were both Barbara’s victims. Afonso accuses Paco of having abandoned his son and orders him to disappear from his life. Tony sees Paco leave and says he arrived too late. Germana asks Afonso to forgive Paco. Barbara closes all the doors and turns on the gas. Tina, feeling unvalued, leaves. Edilásia and her sons run after Tina and take her back to the house by force. Greta seduces Frazão. Roque throws knives at the trio and ends up kidnapping Zuleide. Edilásia and her sons catch Frazão and Greta kissing. Frazão swears his innocence, but Edilásia throws him out. Germana looks for Paco and hugs him. Germana asks him to go talk to Afonso. Raí and Otávio get lost in the woods. Preta desperately looks for them. Jamil lets Tony know that Paco is at the house. Paco and Afonso argue. Germana tries to make them get along. Afonso asks to talk to Paco privately. Paco asks for forgiveness, and Afonso swears he won’t forgive him to his dying day. Tony, hidden from view, shoots Afonso. Paco screams.
Chapter 159: Wednesday, 07/28/2004- Afonso dies at the hospital – Paco yells for Germana to call a doctor. Tony realizes there’s an internal security camera and takes refuge in one of the bathrooms by the pool. Afonso becomes affectionate towards Paco and tells him he forgives him. Paco cries and hugs Afonso. Tony gives Jamil the gun and orders him to get the security videotape. Germana despairs when she sees Afonso. Jamil shows the gun that was thrown in the garden to Pereira, who turns it over to the investigator. Jamil steals the security videotape. Germana goes with Afonso to the hospital. The police official asks Paco to go to the police station to give information. Tony dresses as a police official and escapes. Preta searches for the two boys in the woods. The doctor tells Germana that Afonso will be operated and has a minimal chance to survive. Preta makes a bonfire; Raí follows the light and finds his mother. Tony tells Barbara that he killed Afonso. Preta is told about Afonso’s shooting and returns to Rio. Tony tells Barbara that Otávio is still the only beneficiary. Zuleide tells Roque to end her suffering, but later they kiss. Tina insists that Greta is to blame for Frazão’s cheating. Edilásia finds out about Afonso’s condition. Beki, Verinha and Eduardo celebrate. Afonso comes out of surgery and continues in critical condition. Afonso asks to speak to Raí, tells him to take care of Otávio, to be his father’s friend, and dies. Germana desperately cries, embraced by Preta, Raí and Otávio. Paco arrives and lets loose a cry of pain.
Chapter 160: Thursday, 07/29/2004 – Paco is accused of killing his father – Germana and Paco cry by Afonso’s body. Edilásia asks Paco to forgive her for having separated him from his father. Paco says that sometimes the truth is very hard. Felipe and Paco embrace. Tony opens a bottle of champagne. Everyone consoles Raí, who can’t accept Afonso’s death. Raí doesn’t understand why Afonso told him to be his father’s friend. Germana asks Paco to tell the truth to his son, but Paco says he isn’t in any condition to do so. Kaike wants to get Otávio before Barbara does. Barbara arrives at the hospital like a widow and gives interviews. Germana doesn’t accept her condolences and refuses to give Otávio over to her. Otávio asks to go with his mother, and Barbara victoriously takes him with her. Tina threatens to leave again. Germana assures Kaike that Barbara won’t be able to lay her hands on Otávio’s money. Zuleide suggests to Roque that they steal the money that Helinho is saving to buy a house in Rio. Helinho gets excited when he sees Zuleide return. Greta is the star of Pimenta’s new film. Paco distrusts the security guards and is sure that Tony planned everything to incriminate him. Tony demands that Borja give him Afonso’s Last Will and Testament. Barbara takes the videotape that shows Tony killing Afonso and switches it for another. Borja thinks about confessing everything to Paco and Germana but backs out. Tony burns the switched tape. Afonso is mourned and buried. Raí despairs. Otávio refuses to travel with Tony and Barbara to Switzerland, but Tony makes him. Paco is arrested at Afonso’s burial.
Chapter 161: Friday, 07/30/2004 - Tony and Barbara steal the inheritance – Inspector Malta says that the fingerprints found on the gun are Paco’s. Edilásia knocks the investigator down so that she can get to ride in the paddy wagon with her son. Kaike has the feeling that Barbara will travel to Switzerland with Otávio. Olivia finds out that their flight is boarding. Otávio throws a fit at the airport. The flight is delayed. Malta sets Edilásia free. Paco is taken to a cell. Kaike sees Tony, Otávio and Barbara boarding the plane. Edilásia accuses Preta and Germana of having made her son get close to Afonso and of having caused his disgrace. Tony and Barbara lock Otávio in the hotel room and go to the bank. Tony and Barbara agree to divide the inheritance money evenly. Kaike tells Germana that Tony and Barbara fled to Switzerland. Germana assures him that they can’t get the money. Felipe decides to go look for Borja. Zuleide keeps her eyes on the suitcase filled with money when Cezinha and Helinho knock out Roque. The lawyer, Dr. Matoso, talks to Paco. Barbara and Tony transfer the money from the Swiss account to their accounts. Paco says the gun that he buried in the garden was the one that was used by Tony. Felipe asks to see the documents about the beneficiaries. Borja says they’re in Switzerland and that he doesn’t have a copy. Barbara and Tony burn the papers which contain the passwords to their new accounts. Felipe and Stela access Afonso’s account and discover it’s empty. In a drunken state, Borja cries and tells his wife he did something terrible. Tony covers Barbara with money, and she’s ecstatic. Germana, Preta, and Raí react with shock when they learn that the money disappeared.
Chapter 162: Saturday, 07/31/2004 - Barbara decides to return to Brazil – Germana decides to go to Borja’s house. Barbara and Tony have a good time with the dollars and champagne. Otávio throws some of the money out the window. Borja asks Clarice to forgive him. Barbara rebels when Tony says they can’t return to Brazil because of Borja. Clarice hears a shot. Edu leaves when his beggar companions come to live at his house. Stela receives him wearing a baby doll. Paco is freed on a habeas corpus. Otávio gets sad when he learns he’s never going back to Brazil. Tony tells Barbara that she’s stuck with him for the rest of her life. Paco doesn’t reveal his plans but tells Germana that he’s going to stay being Apolo because only Apolo can get justice. Barbara decides to return to Brazil when she finds out that Borja killed himself.
Chapter 163: Monday, 08/02/2004 – Barbara’s triumph – Pereira gives Jamil’s address to Paco. Olivia gets a fake passport for Kaike. Tony announces that he’s coming to Brazil with Barbara. Paco tells Kaike that he’s going to follow all traces of Tony. Kaike asks him to be careful, says goodbye to Olivia, and leaves on a boat. Eduardo, Verinha and Beki are thrilled to learn that Barbara is rich. Raí is aggressive with Paco, who says he loves him as if he were his son. Edu, Beki and Verinha barge into Barbara’s house and threaten to go to the newspapers if she throws them out. Edilásia takes food to Tina, who’s living in a tent on the beach. Silva observes everything and keeps Tony informed. Paco is arrested at the airport. Germana, Felipe and Preta go to the trial, as does the Sardinha family. The public prosecutor calls Jamil to the stand to testify. Jamil says that Afonso was killed by his son. Paco is condemned to 29 years in jail. Barbara, in the last row, stares at Paco.
Chapter 165: Wednesday, 08/04/2004 – Preta ruins Barbara’s party – Edilásia loses control when Paco is taken prisoner. Preta assails Barbara. At the door to the paddy wagon, Barbara says she loves Paco. Tony enjoys himself with his in-laws’ presence. Edilásia organizes a demonstration at the door to the jail. Barbara decides to make a big party. Dr. Matoso assures Paco that justice will be served. With no money for gasoline, Helinho and Cezinha exchange the truck for a horse-driven wagon and arrive in Rio. Raí gets concerned when his mother grabs a tape recorder and says she’s going to take action. Preta enters Barbara’s house disguised as one of the caterer’s staff. Preta runs into Otávio, who hides her. Otávio calls his mother, and Preta hides under Barbara’s bed. Barbara is disdainful and speaks badly of her guests, and Preta tapes it all. Tony announces Barbara’s social project, and Barbara makes a speech and dedicates the party to Afonso. Preta puts the tape into the sound system, and the guests get disgusted and leave. Chapter 166: Thursday, 08/05/2004 – Paco makes a play for Barbara – Barbara and Preta argue and end up rolling on the floor. Everyone looks at Barbara with disdain. Preta visits Paco. Paco asks Preta not to risk herself again. Preta gets alarmed when Paco swears he’s going to avenge his father’s death. Barbara frantically yells at the employees, and they quit their jobs. Edilásia sells the gym to Greta. Barbara orders Eduardo, Verinha and Beki to do the servants’ work in the house. Tina goes to Frazão so that the two of them can destroy Greta. Greta steals the soup recipe. Tina and Frazão overhear Brad and Pedra’s conversation and find out that Greta only wants the soup recipe. Frazão catches Pedra and Brad, and they confess everything to Edilásia. Moa asks Sal to return to her house, but he responds that he’ll return only if she marries him. Preta meets up with Cezinha and Helinho in a church. Barbara drifts through the house wearing jewels and a long evening gown. The Sardinha brothers apologize to Tina. Edilásia and her sons ask Frazão to return to the house. Barbara goes to visit Paco. Paco pretends he loves Barbara and kisses her intensely.
Chapter 167: Friday, 08/06/2004 – Barbara hands the videotape to the police – Barbara swears she’s going to get Paco out of jail, says she found the security tape, and confesses that it was Tony who killed Afonso. Paco tells Barbara that he’ll stay with her forever. Helinho has the feeling that there’s a very big lie between Preta and Apolo. Barbara tries to transfer the money from Tony’s account to hers, but she needs his signature and the password. Barbara forges Tony’s signature on the bank document. Preta, Cezinha and Helinho go after Jamil and warn him that Tony is dangerous. Preta asks Jamil to help her and leaves him her telephone number. Natasha and Nieta join up with their sister, Greta. Greta makes the soup, drinks it together with her sisters, and the sisters destroy Brad and his group. Tina calls Greta and her sisters to fight against the Sardinha brothers. Barbara finds Tony’s password. Preta worries when she learns that Paco met with Barbara. Barbara passes Tony’s money over to her account. Silva shoots at Jamil but doesn’t hit him. Preta is shocked when the police chief tells her that Tony is in jail, denounced by Barbara. Tina makes the soup because Edilásia doesn’t remember the ingredients. Natasha, Greta and Nieta chain Brad and his group, drink the soup, and celebrate their anticipated victory. Dio, Thor and Abelardo drink the soup and start to break into waves of laughter. Greta and her sisters win the match and tie up their opponents. Nieta eyes Dio passionately. Tony is condemned to 30 years in prison. Paco coldly receives the news of his release from jail. Barbara tells Otávio that Paco is going to live with them. Germana, Edilásia, and Preta wait for Paco. Paco extends his hand to Barbara and says that they’ll stay together. Preta looks on with pain.
Chapter 169: Monday, 08/09/2004 – Paco asks Barbara to marry him – Paco leaves with Barbara under the perplexed eyes of Barbara, Germana, Edilásia, Moa and Felipe. Paco exchanges looks with Helinho as if he recognized him. Raí is disappointed to learn that Paco isn’t gong to come to the house. Otávio wonders what Paco is doing in his house. Preta suffers and thinks Apolo is faking it. Moa almost tells Preta the truth, but Germana stops her. Germana and Moa are sure that Paco wants revenge. Edilásia decides to change her last name to Silva Formiga. Nieta and Greta fear that Natasha will turn into a wife. Edu, Beki and Verinha decide to return to Barbara’s house. Natasha looks for Dio. Barbara orders the security guards to throw her parents out. Natasha swears that she’s not in love. Greta decides to make films only if they’re directed by women. Tony gets frenzied when he finds out that he has no money left in his account. Paco asks Germana to help him destroy Barbara. Barbara gets excited to see Paco wearing one of the jackets she bought for him. Paco asks Barbara to marry him.
Chapter 170: Tuesday, 08/10/2004 - Paco goes to Preta’s house – Barbara and Paco make love. Preta suggests that Cezinha and Helinho work at the restaurant. Kaike returns, happy because he’s going to be absolved. Germana tries to stop Kaike from going to Barbara’s house, but he wants to see Otávio. Barbara orders the security guards to take Kaike away. Cezinha and Helinho start to work as waiters. Eduardo, Beki and Verinha are hired in a hotel. Preta cries when she sees Paco and Barbara’s wedding announcement. Edilásia says that Masha was Napoleão’s girlfriend and that he left her at the altar for Edilásia. Greta plans the end of the Sardinha family, which was her mother’s deathbed wish. Raí throws Paco out of his house. Tony is sure that Paco is going to take Barbara’s money. Barbara explodes when Paco arrives. Paco gives Barbara an engagement ring. Germana says that she can’t reveal a secret that would make Preta understand everything. The sheik and his women want to go to Angra. Edu, Verinha and Beki take the place of the guides and take the sheik. Dio, Thor and Abelardo dress as girls to go to the meeting of women organized by Greta. The sheik is taken to a suburb. Greta and Nieta tie up Natasha, who manages to escape. Eduardo, Beki and Verinha return to the hotel pretending to be the sheik and his wives. Natasha and Dio kiss. Preta enters Barbara’s house and sees her kissing Paco and dancing with him. Helinho tells Germana that he knows Apolo is Paco. Paco opens the safe and removes Barbara’s papers. Germana tells Preta that she and Afonso forgave Paco. Preta swears she’s going to kill the love she feels for Paco. Otávio sees Preta and Paco together. Paco asks Otávio not to say anything to his mother. Barbara says they’ll get married that same day, and Paco agrees to the separation of assets. Helinho says that Preta and Paco are destined for each other. Nieta and Greta follow Natasha. Abelardo, Thor and Tina follow Dionisio. Natasha dresses Dio in women’s clothes for him to get into their house. Edu and Verinha pretend to be the sheik and his wife at the lunch. Dio is introduced as Dinorah. Greta distributes the soup to all the women. Brad, Pedra, Minotauro and Charque run away from Greta, Nieta, Natasha and Dio and end up tied up at the gym. Barbara follows Paco, who stops at a hotel. Barbara desperately knocks on the door. Paco doesn’t open it and tells himself that he’s going to make her crazy. Barbara pays for all the rooms and assigns three security guards to watch Paco. Paco escapes. Paco goes to a casting agency and hires a double. Lena praises Sal’s clothing, and he gives her a gift. Edu, Verinha and Beki gather pieces of junk for the sheik’s auction. Abelardo finds out that Dio is in love with Natasha. Greta distrusts her sister’s relationship with Dinorah. Edu, Verinha, and Beki rake in the money at the auction. Edilásia, Thor, Abelardo, and Tina discover Dio. Natasha and Dio confess their love, to Greta and Edilásia’s despair. Greta jails Natasha. Edilásia threatens to kill herself. Barbara arrives at Preta’s cabana looking for Paco. Preta pushes Barbara and throws her out of her house. Tony orders Marina to give half of his money to Cesar, his lawyer. Paco meets with Raí at Germana’s house. Barbara receives a telegram: “I’m returning. I want to see my killer. Signed: Paco Lambertini.”
Chapter 175: Monday, 08/16/2004 – Tony threatens to kill Paco – Barbara becomes desperate over the telegram signed by Paco. Raí tells Paco that he’ll never consider him to be his father. Marina hands the money over to Cesar. Tony hurts himself and is taken to the hospital. Paco is fascinated by the likeness of his double, Ricardo. Lena gives Sal a poem, and they kiss. Barbara shows Paco the telegram, and he questions if she had anything to do with the death of her betrothed. The real sheik attacks Edu, Verinha and Beki. Edilásia reveals that the soup doesn’t have anything special in it. Thor and Abelardo refuse to fight against Greta and her sisters. Edilásia leaves by herself. Edu, Verinha and Beki dress as American tourists and reinstall themselves in the hotel. Edilásia threatens to kill herself, takes a tumble, faints and wakes up with no memory. Moa gets confused when Sal introduces Lena. Tony escapes from the hospital. Tony enters the house and captures Barbara and Paco. Otávio sees Tony through the keyhole. Preta defends Paco to Raí. Tony leaves with Barbara and Paco. Otávio hides in the trunk of the car. Tony says he’s going to kill Paco.
Chapter 176: Tuesday, 08/17/2004 – Paco uses a double against Barbara – Otávio sprays insecticide on Tony. Paco jumps on him. Tony throws a rock at Paco, who passes out. Barbara threatens to shoot Tony, who runs to the car. Tony, injured, asks his mother for help. Paco promises to protect Barbara. Preta gets frightened when she reads that Tony is loose. Paco tells his double that he’s going to do the job that same day. Germana tells Kaike that Apolo is Paco. Raí exchanges looks with Luisa. Paco arranges with Kaike to get Otávio from the house. Everyone despairs when they see that Edilásia doesn’t know who she is. Verinha goes to Barbara’s house and sees that she’s going crazy. Edilásia disappears. Paco enters the house with the double hidden in the back seat.Verinha steals things from Barbara’s house. Luisa’s mother doesn’t let her talk to Raí because he’s Black. Paco promises he’ll take Otávio to Kaike. Barbara embraces the double in the kitchen and is startled to come face to face with Paco in her bedroom. Barbara returns to the kitchen with Paco and doesn’t find anyone. Barbara looks out the window and gasps in horror when she sees see the double all bloodied.
Chapter 177: Wednesday, 08/18/2004 – Barbara loses control – Barbara remembers the accident and swears that her ex-boyfriend is out there. Paco assures her that there’s no one in the garden. Raí says he can’t have Luisa as his girlfriend because he’s Black. Preta gets angry when she learns that her son was discriminated against. Verinha shows the invitation to a party that she stole from Barbara. Beki perceives that it’s beneficial, and Edu thinks that it could be a good investment. Moa runs away from the beach when she sees Lena and Sal kissing. Greta convinces Edilásia that she’s her aunt, Polka Bazarov. Moa breaks up with Guilherme. The double takes Otávio to meet his father. The security guards tell Barbara that Otávio went out with Paco or with some man who strongly resembled him. Paco calms Barbara. Raí says goodbye to Otávio. Barbara tells Inspector Malta that Tony kidnapped her son. Paco gives Barbara a tranquilizer. Barbara, already groggy, sees Paco bloodied and playing a videogame. Barbara runs out into the street, in her nightgown, crying out of control.
Chapter 178: Thursday, 08/19/2004 – Paco gets Barbara’s password – Barbara is sure that Paco returned from hell to drag her off with him. Barbara doesn’t want to return again to the house, but Paco swears he’ll protect her. Tony tells Marina that he’s going to discover the truth about Paco. Edu, Verinha, and Beki get dressed in costumes of old nobility to attend the party given by Count Viscaia. The Sardinhas hold a vigil for Mamuska’s return. Brad says that Mamuska is at the Bazarov’s gym. They find it odd to see Mamuska as Polka Bazarov, and she doesn’t recognize her sons. Edu meets an old girlfriend, Catucha, at the party. Paco reveals the truth to Felipe and asks him to call Grama, an old friend of theirs. Paco asks Grama to help him. Tony feels pain but even so, goes out against Marina’s protests. Paco goes to Preta’s store, swears that he’s with Barbara only for revenge, and Preta asks him to be careful. Tony observes it all. Grama pretends to be a doctor and examines Barbara. Grama suggests to Barbara that she could have a virus which causes psychosis. Odete thinks it’s strange, but Paco is harsh with her. Paco pretends he doesn’t want to know, but Barbara insists on giving him the password to the bank account.
Chapter 179: Friday, 08/20/2004 – Tony pressures Preta – Barbara asks Paco to administer her assets. Odete overhears the conversation. Preta, Helinho and Cezinha get the store ready for the grand opening the next day. Barbara signs the papers so that Paco can have control of the account. Tony goes to Odete’s house. Odete tells Tony that Barbara has been having hallucinations and that she signed a document for her husband. Tony gives Odete a letter to hand to Barbara, telling her it’s anonymous. Nonô Karloff, an elderly lady, flirts with Edu. Greta and Nina convince Edilásia that she suffered a brainwashing at the hands of the Sardinhas. Edilásia throws them all out of the house. Nonô takes Edu to the bedroom and gives him bonbons. Nonô gets sick, and Verinha and Beki steal her jewels. Greta and Nieta throw Napoleão’s portrait in the garbage. Paco leaves and orders the security guards not to let anyone enter. Paco tells Germana that he’s going to make Barbara confess all her sins. Luisa and Raí talk about love and marriage. Odete reads the letter to Barbara. Tony threatens Preta to make her reveal Paco’s secret. Paco knocks on the door to the store, and Tony orders Preta to open it. Paco enters and sees that Preta is in danger.
Chapter 180: Saturday, 08/21/2004 – Barbara’s falls for Paco’s scheme – Paco asks Tony to let Preta go. Tony demands his money in exchange. Cezinha and Helinho return to the store and see what’s going on. They throw a rock through the display window, Tony gets distracted, and Paco attacks him. Tony ends up escaping. Paco is surprised when Inspector Malta says he knows about his true identity. Paco guarantees that he’ll have a confession from Barbara. Tony calls Barbara and tells her that her husband is cheating on her with Preta. Paco hires the double and gives him a gun with blanks. Eduardo says that a rich man is after Beki. The Count displays intimacy with his lackey and guarantees that he’s going to scam the three scam artists. With Natasha’s help, the Sardinhas rescue Edilásia. Malta arrives at the mansion with his police force. Paco says he saw a man running through the woods, and Barbara goes into a panic. The double turns off the light. Paco hides with Barbara in the kitchen. Tony sees the police presence at the gate to Barbara’s house. Paco leaves Barbara alone with the blank gun. Paco makes noises simulating a fight and sends the double in his place to get close to Barbara. Paco suddenly appears in the threshold and Barbara shoots. The double flees. Chapter 181: Monday, 08/23/2004 – Barbara confesses to her crimes – Paco pretends to die in Barbara’s arms. Barbara, dazed by Paco’s “death”, is taken by Inspector Malta. Tony despairs seeing Barbara being taken by the police. Paco asks Felipe to warn Germana and Preta to hide. Germana suggests that she and Preta travel together to the house in Angra. Barbara confesses everything. Paco passes the money from Barbara’s account over to his. Thieves invade the medieval party. Beki recognizes the thief’s look. Greta and Nieta want Dio to reveal where Edilásia was taken. Edilásia recovers her memory. Beki overhears the Count and the lackey celebrating their scheme. Edilásia bets with Greta that the Sardinhas will defeat the Bazarovs on the tatame. If they lose, the girls will keep the house. If the Sardinhas win, they’ll keep the gym. Barbara tries to strangle Paco and says that Tony had been right. Greta doles out the soup. Brad, Pedra and Minotauro offer to fight on the Sardinha’s side. Frazão sprays the men with dolphin’s liver oil. The women battle against the men. Greta and her followers are fascinated by the men’s perfume and kiss them. The men win the battle. Edilásia regains the house and the championship belts. Sal arranges to go to São Paulo with Lena. The Count has a fit when Edu, Verinha and Beki install themselves in his house. Cezinha acts like Roberval, Helinho repeats everything he orders, and gets slapped by a pretty woman he met in the store. Sal says goodbye to Moa. Marina goes to say goodbye to her sister. Malta watches Marina and lets Paco know. Moa goes after Sal and kisses him. Paco and the police invade the house, don’t find Tony, but do find a note saying that he’s going to take something very dear to Paco. Raí gets into the car. Tony is the driver.
Chapter 183: Wednesday, 08/25/2004 – Paco negotiates with Tony – Raí panics. Ítalo and the security guards leave in another car and follow Paco and Tony. Tony switches car and throws off his pursuers. Paco despairs when he finds out about the kidnapping. Tony takes Raí to the warehouse of an abandoned factory. Preta lets out a blood-curdling scream when she learns that her son is in Tony’s hands. Paco says he’s going to save Raí and gets slapped by Preta. The Count and his lackey get one key to the safe; Beki, Verinha and Edu, the other. Edilásia turns the photo of Napoleão away from the wall. The Bazarovs are booed as they leave the place with their luggage packed. Frazão asks for Edilásia’s hand in marriage and her sons agree. Beki and Beto become the servants of the others. Raí says his father is going to save him. Tony figures out that Apolo is Paco. Tony calls Malta and demands that Paco come with Barbara and with $5 million. Malta frees Barbara and puts a wiretap on Paco. Barbara demands that Paco kneel and ask her to go with him. Preta decides to go to the factory. The police surround the site. Preta and Felipe nervously wait. Tony opens the door to the warehouse. Paco hands over the money and Barbara and demands his son.
Chapter 184: Thursday, 08/26/2004 – In Barbara’s hands – Raí runs to Paco. Tony kisses Barbara. Paco asks them to let Raí go. Tony puts the decision in Barbara’s hands. Raí says he wants to stay with his father. Germana and Edilásia keep a vigil. Barbara lets Raí go. Tony sends a note to the police. Raí thanks Paco, who gets emotional when Raí calls him father. Tony threatens Paco and orders him to ask for the car. Tony, Barbara and Paco flee by car to the heliport. The police follow them. Tony makes Paco pilot the helicopter. Edilásia tells her sons the truth, and they all cry. Preta loses control when she sees the news on television. Raí says that his father will get away and the three of them will live together. Chapter 185: Friday, 08/27/2004 – Getting together for a happy ending – Tony orders Barbara to kill Paco, but she shoots at him (Tony).
