TRANSLATIONS OF TELEMUNDO AVANCES & SUMMARIES – APRIL 2-6,  2007

Telenovela-World:     AVANCE for today (Mon 2 Apr) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-02-07 11:35 PDT

RECAP status: as could be expected, LAI hasn't posted the recap for #35 --last Friday's episode-- yet (as of 11.15a Pacific). i'll keep checking.

UPDATE - 5p Pacific: still nothing. at this point, i doubt we'll get anything. probably tomorrow. if LAI is recovered from Cesar Chavez day, or Passover.

     AVANCES FOR TODAY

     TEASER: Mariángel no se detiene...

     Su maldad calará hondo.

     Mugre won't be stopped...

Her wickedness penetrates deeply. (i think i may be glad that i have a dinner invitation tonight. it sounds like this will be an ep i would rather watch with the FF handy...)

TITLE: A Diego le toca seguir con la farsa. (Diumbo is stuck having to continue the farce.) (duh. he knows that. we know that. everyone knows that except, apparently, LAI.)

     DATE: Monday, 2 April 2007

     EP #36

-Mariángel no se cansa de hechar veneno.

Mugre doesn't tire of spreading venom. (and really, it's a wonder anyone who knows her at all even bothers to pay attention to her anymore. but Diumbo apparently thinks it's part of his part as a Spanish gentleman to listen to her when she's being nasty. idiot.)

-Y Diego fija la fecha de su boda con ella.

And Diumbo sets the date of his wedding with her. (you know, i really have to wonder about Fat Pecs. it's one thing to marry a woman who clearly loves you in a double ceremony with your son marrying the woman he loves and that your bride-to-be loves like a daughter. it's another thing to force your bride-to-be who loves you to get married the same day as your son is going through with a farce of a wedding for appearances' sake. i think it really says something about how Fat Pecs feels about Almu, and about his son, and it's not really so nice...)

-Ante los ojos de Esmeralda, esa desición calará hondo.

In the eyes of Estwit, this decision strikes deeply. (as in, it hurts. don'tcha love it when LAI gets all poetic on us...? as for Estwit, it's only fair. she knows Diumbo doesn't want to marry Mugre, and she rather convincingly played the "i want to be married to Tinhorn Despot" card in front of Diumbo, so... sauce for the goose, and all that -- Estwit needs to get over it.)

     -Tanto amor...¿Se convertiá en odio?

So much love... will it turn into hatred? (if the leads had more than a half brain between them, no. but since they don't...)

Telenovela-World:     RECAP for yesterday (Mon 2 Apr)  Author: B. (---)  Date:   04-03-07 12:16 PDT

RECAP FOR #35 JUST POSTED (12.15p Pacific). i'll get to it later.

     RECAP FOR MONDAY

UPFRONT DISCLAIMER: my VCR is pre-programmed to record and every morning when i leave for work i leave it set, in case i don't get home in time to start the recording manually. last night i knew i would be out to dinner, so i made sure i'd turned the auto record on before i left. and the VCR DID record 2 hours and 40 minutes last night (Montecristo + Zorro + extra Zorro time in case they decide to air for "90 minutes" instead of just "one hour"). the only problem was, the first hour was completely blank, because over the weekend my VCR --made before the Feds belatedly decided that six months of Daylight Saving Time is not enough and tacked on an extra month or so, and which i had already reset to Daylight Saving Time several weeks ago-- had gone ahead and reset itself AGAIN over the weekend. so i only have the first half-hour of last night's episode, which in any event i haven't even skimmed through because by the time i figured everything out and reset the VCR so this would not happen again, it was kinda late.... but as a result it will be harder to correct for LAI's errors, which, judging by the state of things over there on the recaps and avances pages, are likely to be numerous as it would seem that LAI's in an even more disorganized state than usual -- a bad combination. so, apologies in advance for my part in this...

TEASER: (none so far. as of 12.15p Pacific on Tuesday, LAI still had the same "anteriormente" he'd posted on Friday for last Thursday's episode up... and by the way, you could only see the summary for #34 --last Thursday's ep-- by clicking on that "anteriormente" because it isn't in the list of summaries available in the sidebar. only now you can't even see the summary for #34 that way as the "anteriormente" is still for #34 but the link now takes you to the summary for #36... LAI, still missing his head...)

NEW TITLES: Un puñal crucial / Evidencia del crimen (A crucial dagger / Evidence of the crime.) (yeah, but which crime? because i'll bet, depending upon who you ask, the crime will vary... in María Pía's eyes, it's evidence of Peep's guilt in the murder of her sister-in-law Regpurnia. in Yummy's eyes, it's not the dagger that matters, it's the eyepatch (which i still suspect is going to be the key thing in either determining that it was definitely Peep who did it, or in exonerating him, at least for Regpurnia's death. but let us never forget that even if it turns out he didn't kill Regpurnia, he IS still a murderer. in novela terms, his only hope for redemption is to truly have a change of heart, do at least one thing that is genuinely noble and selfless, and then die. because his sort is not allowed to have the happily-ever-after/ride-off-into-the-sunset/white-picket-fence ending...) and in Peep's eyes, the dagger is probably evidence of the "crime" that he was denied happiness with María Pía at his side for all these years. so take your pick.)

     DATE: Monday, 2 April 2007

     EP #36

-Padre Tomás le entrega a Fernando el puñal que Madre Pía guardaba. Fernando dice que con esa evidencia, él está convencido que no mató a Regina.

Padre Tomás hands over to Peep the dagger that MARÍA Pía (LAI is SO totally hung-over!!) was keeping. Peep says that with that evidence, he is convinced he did not murder Regpurnia. (yeah, but try to convince people you didn't murder anyone. see how well that one works...)

-Suplicios le dice a Pía que será los ojos del Señor y que no le hará la vida fácil como Madre Superiora a Pía.

Sister Twisted tells María Pía that she will be God's eyes and that she will not make María Pía's life as Mother Superior easy. (are we still on that...?)

-Olmos se vuelve aliado de Esmeralda. Dice que la ayudará a rescatar a Sara Kalí.

Olmost turns into Estwit's ally. ("Bond. Olmost Bond." hee, Christopher!!) he says he will help her rescue Sara Kalí. (was there any exposition in last night's episode to give us a clue as to what his motivations are?)

-Esmeralda, anuncia que rescatará a su madre y se irá a España con ella.

Estwit (dammit, LAI -- NO COMMA!) announces (to whom? the world at large? Tinhorn Despot? DangerMouse .005?) she will rescue her mother and will go to Spain with her. (because it's always good to keep your enemies informed of your plans. and, why go to Spain? why not pick someplace else, where they won't think of looking for you right away? oh, yeah, i forgot: Estwit, like the other characters in this story and the story's creator, lacks any ability to see the Big Picture. in fact, most of them can't even see the Teensy-Tiny Picture. well, maybe Padre Tomás can see the Medium Picture, but that's about it.)

--Diego se entera por un borracho García que la cárcel de Callao tiene una entrada secreta. Diego aprovecha para copiar la llave que tenía el soldado.

Diumbo finds out from a drunk García that the Callao prison has a secret entrance. (and we're surprised by this??) Diumbo takes the opportunity to copy the key the soldier has. (because one should ALways carry keys to secret entrances around when one is going out drinking. you know, just in case they should come in handy for people who need to copy them. and, Diumbo was just carrying around a key-copying kit on the off chance he'd run into someone with keys to secret doors for him to copy??? Kooko: there's stretching the bounds of credulity and then there's ignoring them altogether. try to keep it on the STRETCHING side, please!!)

-Fernando hace las paces con Alejandro.

Peep makes peace with Fat Pecs. (who is apparently becoming increasingly unpopular with folks on this forum... you know, Peep may be All About Peep, but at least he's upfront about it. Fat Pecs is the same, in that he's All About Fat Pecs, but he tricks people into thinking he's not, using his hair products and imaginary cape to distract them from the truth. small wonder he's losing favor...)

-Buscan al esclavo en el monasterio.

They look for the AAA in the monastery. (now we have a monastery as well??)

-Montero quiere a Esmeralda, como esposa y la arremete físicamente. Ella le dice está embarazada.

Tinhorn Despot wants Estwit (NO COMMA!!) as his wife (as in, he wants to have sex with her) and he attacks her physically. (Tinhorn: see comments in today's avances re being a Real Man. because you are NOT.) She tells him she's pregnant. (yeah, like that will stop him. Estwit obviously hasn't seen Dogma (Jay to Bethany after learning she's pregnant: "You know, I hear pregnant women can have sex until their third trimester."). plus, whatever in the world made her think that learning she was pregnant would be enough to stop a guy like Tinhorn....?)[//i]

Let me tell you what you missed ;) Author: Aerynsun (---) Date:   04-03-07 13:34 PDT

Olmost didn't explain his reasons to help Estwit, even though she asked. He said he couldn't tell her much because it is a secret mission that involves the government (he didn't say the Crown, he said, "gobierno")

Estwit wrote a note to the gypsies. She saw one on the street named "Javier" and she was about to meet him and give him the note but Montero's soldiers stopped her, so she dropped the note on the floor and left with the soldiers. The gypsy took the note and delivered it to the others. The note only said, "Be prepared, I'll rescue Sara Kali soon" or something irrelevant like that.

Diego was the one who got García drunk. He paid the tavern wench to feed him and give him some wine. Diego's excuse was that he was returning the favor he did him while he was in prison. When Garcia was already drunk, Diego approached him and started to get some info. Garcia told him that the prison had been a monastery in the past and that it had some secret passages. Later, Garcia was reaaaally drunk and Diego was pretending. Diego offered to take him to the hacienda to rest, because it wouldn't be good for him if the other soldiers saw him in that condition. Garcia refused, arguing that he had to be in his post at such and such time or he would be in trouble.

Diego asked him how he was going to enter the prison like that, and Garcia told him that he had the key to a little door at the back or something. How did you find that door? asked Diego. "I discovered it while trying to rescue a nest of birds that had fallen from a tree" (awwwwwww he is so sweet!) He told Diego that now that he knows his secret, he will escape easily the next time he gets caught. Diego, took the key in his hand and he looked all greedy (I could totally see the lightbulb turning on over his head, SO FUNNY!) Garcia in the meantime, passed out (this was the second time actually, the first time he passed out but got up inmediatly, like in a cartoon)

While pretending to be drunk Diego kept the key and told him he was going to watch for "Moros en la costa", he got on his knees and found some "arcilla" on the floor (it looked more like play doh! It was perfect) and made a mold of the key. Diego returned the key and thanked Garcia for sharing his secret, Garcia thanked him for keeping him company and embraced him (you know! typical drunk talk, Yoouuu maaa frienddd!!!! I love yoouuu, nooo I love you mooeee! they were soooo cute though)

Diego then gave the perfect mold to Bernardo-Macgyver-Merlin, who in a few hours, made a copy of the key :p

Telenovela-World:     AVANCES for today (Tue 3 Apr 2007) --- EDITED TO ADD COMMENT Author: B. (---) Date:   04-03-07 10:21 PDT

RECAP STATUS: LAI, once again showing he can't count past 20-something, has posted a summary he's numbered 36 (the number for yesterday's episode) and seems to be completely ignorant there is no #35... a quick scan of the recap, which appears to be slightly unfinished, doesn't show much that's familiar (and not only did i not see last night's episode because i was out to a dinner and got home late, but because my stupid VCR decided on its own that it wasn't set for daylight savings --even though it was-- and so it only recorded half of the episode...), so i'm guessing it is, indeed, a recap for yesterday's episode. who knows where Friday's recap is, and/or whether LAI is going to realize that part of his recap includes at least one incomplete sentence. at any rate, i'll get to "#36" --and #35, if LAI ever deigns to post it-- later. in the meantime...

     AVANCES FOR TODAY

TEASER: Padre Tomás tiene la evidencia.

     Pero...¿Será Fernando el asesino?

     Padre Tomás has the evidence.

But... Could Peep be the assassin?

(ok, someone is definitely dying. my money's on the Cardidiot. but i'll bet even though Peep is totally capable of killing someone, THIS time he won't be the killer. it will just look like he did.)

TITLE: Padre Tomás tiene el puñal del crimen. (Padre Tomás has the murder weapon.) (literally, the dagger of the crime, but it doesn't really track in English, so... and i'm guessing it's the famous dagger with Peep's initials that convinced María Pía that he was the one who killed Toypurnia.)

     DATE: Tuesday 3 April 2007

     EP #37

-Ahora, el puñal está en manos de Fernando. ¿Será suyo?

Now (and AGAIN with the extraneous commas, LAI!! what is this obsession??) the dagger is in Peep's hands. Could it be his? (well, duh, i think at this point it kinda has to be, don't you...?)

-Por amor se es capaz de todo pero Montero exige derechos...

Anything for love but Tinhorn Despot demands rights... (ok, i'm GUESSING this is referring to Estwit being willing to sacrifice herself for love of Diumbo, but only so far and that "so far" being that she draws the line at, er, intimate relations with her supposed husband. but that he's not willing to live with that. as could have been expected, really. there's sacrifice and then there's just DUMB. and Estwit was just DUMB. well-intentioned, but DUMB. then again, since Kooko apparently isn't bothering to think things through, i suppose it's a bit much to expect his characters to do so. but don't they say that writing is supposed to be therapy...? if he's going to try to work out his inner demons using us as his collective shrink, couldn't he at least also work on his inner thought processes...??? Kooko: life is learning. LEARN already!!)

-...Así sea a punta de golpes.

...Even if he has to beat [her to get them]. (see what i mean about DUMB, Estwit?? all you had to do was think beyond what's right in front of you, but no.... still, i'm sorry you're in this mess, even if you did get yourself into it all on your own and wouldn't even stop to try to to find an alternate solution. ordinarily i would say, "you made your bed..." but i draw the bed-making line at stuff like spousal abuse. i guess no-one ever told Tinhorn that if you have to beat your wife to make her submit to you, then you're not a Real Man. that news will probably come as a shock. now, if we can just draft someone like Conan the Barbarian to come and make that clear to him...)

-Montero recibe otra humillación y Esmeralda tendrá que decidir.

Tinhorn Despot receives another humilliation (i guess she tells him she's pregnant. ooooh, poor Tinhorn! he was SO confident she was a virgin -- after her money, that was her biggest attraction for him. more so, i think, than taking Diumbo's toy away from him, though maybe that was a tie...) and Estwit will have to decide. (decide what? to try to claim the baby belongs to her first husband? whether to wear that snappy black hat again? if i were her --and thankfully i'm not, because i rather enjoy being able to think further ahead than two seconds from now, plus being Estwit would mean i'd be stuck with Mugre for a half-sister and, well, NO. as for the baby, even though Tinhorn is probably way certain that the baby has got to be Diumbo's, if i were Estwit i would certainly claim publicly that the baby is her former husband's and who cares if Mugre goes around trying to claim otherwise...?)

EDITED TO ADD: i didn't see last night's episode, but these "avances" sure sound like a shorter recap of last night's episode as outlined by LAI in the recap for last night (which i will post later today). so i'll keep checking to see if these change, because, well... who knows? i think LAI is too hung over from Cesar Chavez Day to be even his usual minimally coherent self...

Telenovela-World:     RECAP for yesterday (Tue 3 Apr) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-04-07 16:52 PDT

     RECAP FOR TUESDAY

TEASER: Padre Tomás tiene la evidencia. Pero...¿Será Fernando el asesino? (Padre Tomás has the evidence. But... Could Peep be the assassin?) (yes! he TOTALLY could!! in fact, we've already seen him in his assassin role. his sangfroid in killing the Viceroy's inspector makes it easy to believe he's had practice. and if he hasn't, in fact, had all that much practice, then that is even worse, because not only does it mean he's willing to kill someone himself --WITH WITNESSES-- but that he is willing to do it merely because he considered the person inconvenient or an impediment. in other words: nothing is allowed to get in Peep's way. as i believe his conversation with the Cardidiot the other night more than amply showed.)

NEW TITLES: Digo no puede estar sin Esmeralda / Fernando alega inocencia.(Diumbo cannot be without Estwit. (just get together already and move on to the next trauma. i'm tired of this "no, no!! I can be MUCH more sacrificial than you!!" crap.) / Peep claims innocence.) (yes, but when was the last time he actually WAS innocent?? i'm thinking it was probably well before he learned to talk.)

     DATE: Tuesday, 3 April 2007

     EP #37

-Fernando alega que el puñal con sus inicales era suyo, pero fue robado de su hacienda hace muchos años. Por eso, él no mató a Regina, por lo tanto María Pía estaba equivocada en juzgarlo.

Peep alleges that [though] the dagger with his initials on it was his, it was stolen from his hacienda years ago. (Aerynsun's mother made the point that if someone were going to go to the trouble to steal one dagger out of its custom-designed case, why not just go ahead and steal the other one that was sitting right there? it's not like Peep (ESPECIALLY a guy like Peep!) was going to notice one missing and say, "oh, well, at least i have the other" and not think another thing about it. no, a guy like Peep would have raised holy hell, even if they were just "decorative" daggers (and by the way, if they were just "decorative," why keep them in a case in a drawer??). also, if one of a pair of unique daggers with his initials on them actually had been stolen way back in the day, and then the obsession of his life tells him the reason she knew he was the one who killed her sister-in-law was because there was a unique dagger with his initials with the body, the first thing he would have said was, "it might not have been me: i had this pair of daggers but one of them was stolen. here, let me show you its mate and you tell me if that's the dagger you're talking about." this whole, "i need to see the dagger" thing just smacks of CYA to me. and it would be dead easy for a guy like Peep to do some CYA once he knows exactly what he has to cover for, and then sound totally glib as he expounds his reasons why it could not have been him. not to mention he's shown pretty clear signs of being without any sort of a real conscience at all, as evidenced by his complete lack of remorse over the killing of the Viceroy's inspector -- if anything, he was more irritated because he had to do the job and because he knew he'd given Tinhorn something else to use against him. i think his horror at hearing the reason María Pía left him was all to do with knowing two things: 1) María Pía would expect him to be horrified and would judge him even more harshly if he weren't; and 2) he might actually lose if he couldn't find a way to lay the blame on someone else. which is why he had to see the dagger -- so he knew exactly what he was up against and could arrange his excuses accordingly.)

-Montero le exige a Esmeralda que anuncie que el hijo que espera, es de ellos dos. Si no lo hace, entonces lo tendrá que perder.

Tinhorn Despot demands that Estwit announce the child she is expecting is his. (actually, LAI writes "is both of theirs." which is just stupid. LAI: they didn't have the technology back in those days to implant Estwit with a baby that isn't hers. the mere fact she's pregnant is proof right there that the baby is hers. did you actually pay ANY attention in history -- ever??) If she won't, she will have to lose her baby. (and he's frustrated enough he'd be more than capable of beating her until she miscarries. of course, any abortion or brute-force-induced miscarriage, back in those days, carries with it a rather significant risk of the mother dying as well, and then where would he be -- especially if she hasn't gotten around to signing the papers handing over her dowry to him...?? just another example of characters failing to think things all the way through... but speaking of the dowry, i may have to upgrade B.OB. (Bond. Olmost Bond.) to being able to see at least the Medium Picture along with Padre Tomás -- maybe even the Medium-Large Picture. how about his little fiddle with Estwit's jewels so that she could keep the greater part of her fortune and have Tinhorn none the wiser? hee!!!)

-Almudena le cuenta a Alejandro que Fernando no es padre de Esmeralda y que la madre de ésta está viva, en la cárcel del Callao.

Blabbermouth Almu tells Fat Pecs that Peep isn't Estwit's [biological] father and that [Estwit's] mother is alive, in the Callao prison. (and yet Fat Pecs seems strangely unmoved by all this. it was all lip service. (both kinds, now i think of it.) and why in the world were they in a public dining room, anyway? that made no sense to me.)

-El Zorro prepara como liberar a Sara Kalí. Mientras, Montero y Pizarro se preparan para enfrentar al enmascarado.

Zorro plans how he will free Sara Kalí. (LAI, pay attention: CONTINUES to plan. at a snail's pace. the newest move is to scout the layout of the prison. Bernardo begs to be allowed to do it. ruh-roh... i mean, not that i don't have faith in Bernardo, but the way things have been going for the supposed heroes of this story, Diumbo's admonition to Bernardo to be VERY careful just had the feeling of an Estwitism, you know...?)

-Fernando visita a María Pía y le pide que se case con él.

Peep visits María Pía and asks her (AGAIN) to marry him. (the flowers are pretty and all, and she has become fabulously indecisive and wimpy ever since hearing Peep's excuses for Why It Wasn't Me, but still... ever since she made a decision that ran counter to what he wanted, he has been trampling all over her with no respect for anything that is important to her, never mind sacred. even Padre Tomás won't enter the convent dormitories, but Peep just barges right in as if he has a right to. even if she does love him, and even if she is afraid that she may have jumped to conclusions, that doesn't change the fact that Peep is egotistical, arrogant, demanding, inconsiderate except when it directly benefits him, and abusive. he is NOT good husband material, no matter how much he loves her.)

-Diego se encuentra con Esmeralda en la iglesia y busca como acercarse a ella.

Diumbo finds Estwit in the church and looks for a way to approach her. (well, that's not really the way it happened, LAI... plus, just mentioning the whole Diumbo-can't-live-without-her thing in the titles doesn't count as recapping!! see below for more...)

and as usual, LAI is leaving stuff out. like how Mugre told Diumbo that at the very least he owed her respect as his wife, and he flatly replied that she would get it from him whenever she decided to stop pulling little stunts like the one she'd just pulled on Estwit and stalked off. or how B.OB. lied to Diumbo about not having seen Estwit when she was hiding right nearby, and then he counselled her to be sure to hide her jewels (the ones he'd convinced Tinhorn to exclude from the dowry as being "trinkets" with no real value when in fact, according to B.OB., they represent the greater portion of her fortune) someplace Tinhorn would not be able to find them as one look would be more than enough for Tinhorn to realize he'd been tricked. or how we had a montage showing how Estwit and Diumbo are so totally on the same wavelength that they even put out their candles to go to sleep at the same time (thinking of each other, of course)... or how the next day, Diumbo, still looking for Estwit, only barely contained the urge to bite Cata's head off when she came sailing up to him in the plaza babbling gaily about how Mugre had told her ALL ABOUT how Diumbo had finally gotten over his silly obsession with Estwit, come to his senses, and realized he really was in love with Mugre and they were going to get married and--- Diego wanted her to tell him the whole champagne party was a setup to trap him and that she and Mugre had put something in the champagne, but Cata --truthfully, so far as she knows, since Mugre had sold her a pack of lies and naturally failed to mention the potion, given that it would have negated all her claims about Diumbo really being in love with her-- said there was nothing wrong with the champagne and suggested it was probably because Diumbo was already pretty drunk, not to mention depressed because of all the nasty things Estwit had done to him. or how Mugre found him at the plaza, said she was heading for Mass and asked him if he wanted to accompany her ("we can practice our nuptial march up the aisle...!"). Diumbo was on the verge of saying "eeew, NO. WAY." and charging off to keep looking for Estwit when he saw his quarry, dressed for Mass, approaching the church with her cuate BlabAlmu. seeing her see him, he changed his mind and told Mugre he'd be happy to accompany her and offered her his arm, which of course she took in a really proprietary manner, knowing exactly what made him change his mind. (and really, i'm surprised just walking through the church doors don't make Mugre burst into flame. or at least smoke a bit. Padre Tomás should see to strengthening the blessing around there...) once in the church, Padre Tomás is performing the Mass and Diumbo doesn't do anything except stare at Estwit -- who is seated further forward in the church than he is. Estwit also sneaks a peek back at Diumbo. during collection, Mugre is distracted getting out her contribution and putting it in the bag. Diumbo sees Estwit get up and head over toward a side chapel and, with a quick glance to make sure Mugre doesn't notice, he quietly sneaks away and follows Estwit. Mugre must've had her pennies in the very bottom of her little bag, because it took her forever to deal with the guy with the collection bag and by the time she turned around and noticed Diumbo was gone, he had already slipped into the chapel with Estwit, who was lighting a candle. DIumbo tells Estwit that he can't deny it any more, he loves her and can't stand not being with her. Estwit gets a hint of that mulish, "i-have-to-sacrifice-myself-for-the-greater-good" look on her face as the episode ends. and really, since she IS supposedly sacrificing herself for the greater good, i wish she'd consider all of us. because while her story with Tinhorn is one thing, i want to see Mugre ground into the dirt. NOW.

Telenovela-World:     AVANCES for today (Wed 4 Apr) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-04-07 12:12 PDT

RECAP STATUS: LAI finally has his act more or less together and has already got the recap for yesterday (#37) up. interestingly, he doesn't seem to have noticed that the recap for last Thursday (#34) is still AWOL from the list of recent recaps... i wonder when --or even if!-- that little detail will come to his attention...?

     AVANCES FOR TODAY

     TEASER: La preocupación crece.

     Muchos están en peligro.

     Worry grows.

     Many are in danger.

TITLE: ¿Quién dice la verdad?. (Who is telling the truth?( (LAI: get a damn proofreader already! that period is extraneous!!)

     DATE: Wednesday, 4 April 2007

     EP #38

     -Fernando alega inocencia...

Peep claims innocence... (yeah, well he would. the Peep lurve-fest continues. you know, i have to wonder: if Peniche weren't doing such a fabulous job, would this story still be developing as it is, and more to the point, would we still be having such obvious signs of a desire to redeem Peep? note to Kooko: Retcon all you like, we still aren't buying it. Peep is NOT a good man.)

-...Y cree tener el camino libre.

...and he believes the path is clear. (to making María Pía return to him. the ego on the man is just insane.)

-Por su parte, Diego se las ingenia para ver a su amor.

For his part, Diego figures out ways to see his beloved. (and i'm really really trying not to hope that THIS time she will tell him the truth and not try to toe her current party line "for Diumbo's own good." blech. blech blech blech blech blech.)

-Por esa osadía, Mariángel y Montero pedirán cuentas.

Mugre and Tinhorn will demand an accounting for [Diumbo's] impudence. (from the previews, it's looking like more of Diumbo pretending he doesn't know how to fight. should be fun...)

Telenovela-World:  RECAP for last Wednesday (#38) [USA, 4/4/07] Author: B. (---) Date:   04-09-07 18:19 PDT

     RECAP FOR WEDNESDAY

TEASER: La preocupación crece. Muchos están en peligro. (Worry grows. Many are in danger.) (it's hard to snark much. i practically can't even remember what happened on Wednesday already...

NEW TITLES: Osadía sin control / Mariángel canta victoria.(Reckless daring / Mugre cries victory.) (STOMP. MUGRE. NOW.

     DATE: Wednesday, 4 April 2007

     EP #38

-Fernando alega inocencia y cree tener el camino libre. Él jura que no mató a Regina y le propone matrimonio a María Pía.

Peep claims he's innocent and thinks he's good to go. He swears he didn't murder Regpurnia and proposes to María Pía. (ok, i am sure Kooko thinks this is all womantick and stuff, but i think it's just icky. even if it turns out that Peep didn't murder Regpurnia --and i for one will never be convinced that he didn't do it, even if Regpurnia herself comes back and swears it was some other guy and he didn't actually kill her (and Kooko is quite capable of that. look how he wimped out on Miguelón's sex change in Tormented and instead of sticking to the story and seeing it through to the end, which would have been FAB, made Miguelón the woman turn out to be Michelle the obsessed stalker ex-not-really girlfriend. wuss)-- he very easily COULD have, which is to my mind nearly the same thing. plus, he is really lousy husband material. REALLY lousy.)

-Diego se las ingenia para ver a Esmeralda y pedirle perdón.

Diego works it out to see Esme and ask her forgiveness. (nice scene at the church, by the way. i was sure i wrote something about at least part of this as part of the writeup for Tuesday (yes, i did: see the end of this recap for #37). but all in all it was a very nice scene, and very well done. neither of them said anything stupid or womantic, just smart and desperately romantic. as i said, nice. of course, LAI conveniently forgets to mention that Diego totally snubs Mugre and leaves the church before Mass is over, or that Cata notices and is enjoying that (so is she really Mugre's friend, or is she just Mugre's "friend" because she's bored and doesn't have anyone else to hang with?). or especially that Diego later goes after Esme, is astonished to find her alone --which she is because she managed to give her soldier guards the slip at some point (maybe after she visited Padre Tomás?), and urges her to run away with him.)

-Por esa osadía, Mariángel y Montero pedirán cuentas. Montero se propone romperle la cara a Diego. ¿Hasta dónde llegará su rabia?-Mariángel, por su parte, se propone hacer lo que sea por amarrar a Diego.

Mugre and Tinhorn Despot will both get even for this affront. (ooooh! they're such baddies!!) Tinhorn proposes to beat Diego up (and manages to get himself beaten up by Diego "pretending" to fight in a VERY funny scene). How far will his fury go? (well, far enough to have Diego manage to make him look a TOTAL fool, and in public, too.) Mugre, for her part, decides to do whatever she has to make sure Diego cannot escape her. (what. ever.)

sorry, but Wednesday was too long ago for me to remember many details. if i can, this week i'll go back and see if LAI missed anything major --i kinda think maybe yes?-- and then update this.

Telenovela-World:   AVANCES for today (Thu 5 Apr) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-05-07 11:47 PDT

RECAP STATUS - 3.45p Pacific: as could be expected, LAI sill hasn't posted the recap for last night (#38) yet. and with tomorrow being Good Friday, it's anyone's guess whether he'll actually get around to it (because you know, today is Good Thursday (the day before Good Friday). in fact, i'm a little surprised he didn't try to take Good Wednesday as well. maybe he settled for Good Wednesday Afternoon, since he got the recap for #37 up so promptly yesterday morning...?) in the meantime, if you can't wait, check out Gillie78's quick summary for #38, here.

     AVANCES FOR TODAY

     TEASER: Las pasiones son incontrolables.

     ¿Se podrá cambiar el destino?

     The passions are uncontrollable.

Can destiny be changed? (uh, oh... things can never be good when LAI thinks he can ask Philosophical Questions...)

TITLE: Algunas pasiones no tienen control. (some passions have no control.) (and very pesky it can make them, too...)

     DATE: Thursday, 5 April 2007

     EP #39

-Mariángel cree tener la pelea ganada.

Mugre thinks she's got the battle already won. (yes, well, she's the type that would, now, wouldn't she? i hope she gets stomped. Mugre getting shown up, again and again and again, just could never lose its flavor...)

-Pero el corazón de Diego, es de otra mujer.

But Diego's heart [belongs to] another woman. (it could belong to ANY other woman, really, or even to a man, or a horse, or a cockroach, so long as it is not now and never will belong to Mugre.)

-Y así tengan que cometer una locura...

And even if they (they who?? some specificity would help here, LAI!!) have to do something crazy... (yes! do something crazy!! get wild!!)

     -¿Podrán cambiar el destino?

Can they change destiny? (ok, i'm assuming LAI is talking about Estwit and Diego here. and if so, then the answer is no!! no, they won't be able to change destiny! because their destiny is to be together (don't they know they are D4EO? don't they read this forum?!??), so they should just stop fighting it and get together now. and then we can move on to something that is really important. like stomping Mugre.)

     RECAP FOR THURSDAY

TEASER: Las pasiones son incontrolables.¿Se podrá cambiar el destino? (Passions are uncontrollable. Can destiny be changed?)

NEW TITLES: Cumpliendo promesas / Diego cumple su palabara. (Fulfilling promises / Diego keeps his word.) (and remotes everywhere are running for cover...)

     DATE: Thursday, 5 April 2007

     EP #39

-Montero se entera que Esmeralda está embarazada de Diego y le exige que anuncie que el hijo es de ella y Montero, o que lo pierda.

Tinhorn Despot finds out (yes, because Esme told him, not because he learned it on his own somehow) Esme's expecting Diego's child and demands she announce it is his (Tinhorn's) or she will lose the baby. (as in, he will make sure she miscarries. and really, Esme is being stupid here thinking that Tinhorn will refrain from doing anything to her (including sex) just because she's pregnant. but whatever. i guess Kooko couldn't think of a better way to "advance" that stupid plot.)

-Almudena le cuenta a Alejandro que Esmeralda no es hija de Fernando y que su madre, Sara Kalí, está viva.

Blabmu blabs to Fat Pecs (IN A PUBLIC CAFE FULL OF PEOPLE! try for a LITTLE discretion, Blabmu!!) that Esme isn't Peep's biological daughter and that her mother, Sara Kalí, is alive. (and yet it doesn't seem to occur to either of them that if the Masked Miracle is still alive, it means Peep is still married... also, Fat Pecs says he will rescue the Masked Miracle. so he makes, what --? #4,237 on the list of people who are supposedly going to rescue the Masked Miracle but who never seem to do more than talk about it??)

-Pizarro y Montero se preparan para enfrentar al Zorro.

Pizza and Tinhorn Despot prepare to confront Zorro. (confront Zorro?? i don't remember anything about this. am i spacing, or is LAI once again forgetting that ZORRO IS THE ONE IN THE MASK and DIEGO IS THE ONE NOT IN A MASK?)

-María Pía sufre por Fernando . ¿Será cierto que él no mató a Regina y ella cometió un error al acusarlo?

María Poopoo suffers because of Peep. (memo to María Poopoo: i know you can't dictate to your heart and all that, but read carefully: Peep. has. NEVER. been. worth. ANY. suffering. nor, if you marry him, will he make you at all happy. why? because, deep down, he's not actually capable of it. you will only suffer MORE, not less.) Could it be true he didn't murder Regpurnia and that she (María Poopoo) erred in accusing him? (well, ok, yes. it COULD be true he didn't murder Regpurnia (though i personally doubt it). but even if he didn't actually murder her, he certainly murdered a lot of other indians, not to mention at least one non-indian person. Peep is NOT a nice man. accept it and move on already, Maríapoo. you will be much happier.)

as with yesterday's recap for #38, this recap suffers from two things: general inattention on my part when the episode was airing (hey, housework's gotta get done SOMEtime...) and the fact that this aired nearly a week ago now. and as with yesterday's, if i have a chance the next few days i'll try to give it a quick review so i can see if anything major is missing.

Telenovela-World:   AVANCES for today (Fri 6 Apr) + RECAP status update Author: B. (---) Date:   04-06-07 10:36 PDT

RECAP STATUS: as of 1.30p Pacific time today, LAI still hasn't posted a recap for #38 (Wednesday's episode), never mind a recap for #39 (yesterday's). and as today is Good Friday, i have the feeling that means we won't be seeing anything before Monday, IF THEN. i'll check periodically, but don't hold your breaths...

     AVANCES FOR TODAY

     TEASER: Otra boda no deseada...

     ¿Hasta dónde llegará la farsa?

     Another unwanted wedding....

How far will the farce go? (wait, BlabAlmu doesn't want to marry Fat Pecs eith-- oh, right, he's talking about Diego and Mugre. well, DUH it's an unwanted wedding! is there a quota in Los Angeles or something? for every half-wanted wedding (because you can't convince me that Fat Pecs REALLY wants to marry BlabAlmu right now. which means that only one of the four people standing in front of the altar really wants to get married because they're in love and not because they feel Obliged in some way) you have to have X number of not-at-all-wanted weddings? and is that number then X² if you have a wedding where both parties actually WANT to get married, and X³ if they both not only want to get married, but are in love? i'm just asking, because when you take into consideration that Cata didn't want to marry Tobobo, and Esme CERTAINLY didn't want to marry Tinhorn, well... there sure seems to be a quota thing going on here. that would explain why Esme and Diego couldn't get married yet. not enough unwanted marriages to qualify for their Happily Ever After...

TITLE: Otra boda que será una farsa. (Another wedding that will be a farce.) (oddly, although the avance only talks about the wedding, the PICTURE that accompanies today's avances is of Yummy in her war regalia. could LAI be trying to tell us that it won't be Diego, Esme, or B.OB. that disrupts (hopefully stops) the wedding, but Yummy??? or maybe LAI thinks he is just trying to mislead us...)

     DATE: Friday, 6 April 2007

     EP #40

-Diego llega al altar para cumplir un compromiso no deseado.

Diego arrives at the altar to go through with an unwanted promise. (blah blah blah. can we get this over with, please?)

-Pero Mariángel no recibe el calor que quería.

But Mugre didn't get the warmth she wanted. (or the public pretense. ha ha, she looked so tee'd off yesterday. not as good as stomping, by a long shot, but i loved that Diego didn't even let being in front of the altar stop him from giving her a smackdown. could more be in store -- i hope! i hope!!)

-Al corazón no se puede forzar.

The heart cannot be forced. (Mugre obviously hasn't been keeping up on her novelas or she'd know this by now. and if she thinks she's going to be the exception, well... she DEFINITELY hasn't been reading the handbook.)

     -¿Hasta dónde llegará la farsa?

Just how far will the farce go? (hopefully not to the point of them being married. although if it does, then also hopefully Diego will a) avoid accepting any drinks from her at all in future, and b) not ever have sex with her. THAT will be the most irritating thing EVER for Mugre. well, unless the whole town were to find out that he's not sleeping with her. that would be even better. public humilliation...! if i can't have stomping, then i will settle for that.)

     (see what i mean...?)

Telenovela-World:     RECAP for last Friday (#40)  [USA, 4/6/07] Author: B. (---) Date:   04-10-07 18:37 PDT

     RECAP FOR FRIDAY

UPFRONT DISCLAIMER: i haven't seen this episode as of this writing...

TEASER: Otra boda no deseada...¿Hasta dónde llegará la farsa? (Another unwanted wedding... How far will the farce go?) (well, as we all know now, way TOO far.)

NEW TITLES: Boda doble / Felicidad a medias. (ha ha, LAI is playing at being poetic again: Double wedding / Half-happiness.) (personally, i think "half" is overstating. a lot.)

     DATE: Friday, 6 April 2007

     EP #40

-Alejandro se casa con Almudena y Diego con Mariángel. Pero Yumalay no puede entrar a la celebración.

Fat Pecs marries Blabmu and Diego marries Mugre. But Yummy can't enter the celebration. (why? because she wouldn't change her clothes? because they put an anti-indian spell on the door (in which case, how did Diego get in)? because Kooko needed another excuse for Yummy to sulk?)

-Llega una visita sorpresa: El Virrey de México, Don Enrique de Casitlla y León. Su misión es buscar a Sara Kalí y matarla.

A surprise visitor arrives: The Viceroy of Mexico, Don Enrique Casitlla (?? not only is Kooko unwilling to educate himself about titles, but now we also have LAI still unwilling to get a proofreader!!) y León. his mission is to find the Masked Miracle and kill her. (and he knows she's here... how? oh, right. because even though for EIGHTEEN YEARS, give or take, she's been hidden out at Callao and no-one the wiser, now suddenly everyone and their dog knows she's "hidden" there. give. me. a. break.)

-María Pía pide permiso en el internado y acompaña a Fernando a la boda.

María Poopoo asks permission at the convent and --IN CIVVIES-- accompanies Peep to the wedding. (i seem to recall from Thursday's episode that she didn't "ask permission" to leave the convent for the evening --in which case i am pretty sure she would have had to stay in her habit at the wedding-- but that she told the sisters and Padre Tomás that with things being the way they are for her right now, she needs to take a break and go back to her civilian life for a while, to see if she is really nun material. try to keep up, LAI!!)

-El Virrey le ofrece a Montero títulos de nobleza y dinero, a cambio de Sara Kalí.

The Viceroy offers Tinhorn Despot noble titles and money in exchange for the Masked Miracle. (and he resisted? he must be pretty sure he's going to get something better out of Peep... i mean, let's face it: Tinhorn was going to kill the Masked Miracle for FREE and now here he is turning down money AND a title or three?? there's something wrong with that picture...)

-Mariángel se entera que Esmeralda está embarazada de Diego.

Mugre finds out that Esme is pregnant with Diego's child. (yeah, and she wasn't best pleased at all. poor Mugre. NOT!)

SUMMARIES OF EPISODES FOR WEEK OF APRIL 2-6, 2007

Telenovela-World:   Faith, your best bet is to wait for B's recap...  [USA, 4/4/07] Author: Gillie78 (---) Date:   04-05-07 07:38 PDT

but I can give you a quick rundown.

At the church, Esme slips away and Diego follows. He says he loves her and knows she was not unfaithful. He begs her forgiveness. She tearfully forgives him.

Mariskankle accosts Diego when he returns, demanding to know where he was. He abruptly tells her he wants to be alone, and leaves the church. Skankle glares at Esme, who is returning to her seat.

Tobias's wife, whose name I have forgotten at the moment, sits behind Skankle and notes that Diego and Esme were talking. Skankle says Diego was probably criticizing Esme for staying with Montero, but her "friend" insists that Diego did not look angry. Skankle snaps at the other woman not to spread gossip. She points out that she and Diego will marry within a week and that Esme is already married to Montero.

After Mass, Esme goes to see Padre Tomas and admits to him she's having Diego's baby. PT is shocked and urges her to tell Diego. Esme says she is afraid of what Diego will do if he finds out and insists that she has to stay with Montero, for reasons that she cannot disclose to PT.

Diego, putting up his dukes and looking like a sissy, challenges Montero to a fight. The two agree to meet in the desert. Diego says he will come alone and urges Monty to do the same. Later, Monty orders Pizza to have his men surround the area where the fight will occur, just in case. Montero swears he will kill Diego.

Fernando asks Maria Pia to marry him, insisting he is innocent of killing Regina. MP still has doubts about his innocence, but is torn. Later MP runs into Diego, who can see she is upset and pleads with her to confide in him. She tells him a little, but of course does not reveal the whole story, saying she does not want to discuss it. On her way to the convent, she runs into the Cardinal who urges her to prepare for her consecration. She tells him she will be prepared but must retire to her cell. The Cardinal begins to doubt that MP is ready to be consecrated. MP goes to her cell and bursts into tears, fearing that Fernando is innocent and she ruined both of their lives.

Fernando is alone, holding the dagger. He says aloud that he is innocent, but then we see another flashback to the crime. Fer says he will not lose Maria Pia because of a mistake.

Alejandro and Yumalai have an intimate conversation that seems to be ending with a kiss. The incident is secretly witnessed by Almudena, who has come to pay a surprise visit to Alej.

Pizza tells Garcia to deliver Alejandro's invitation to the ceremony during which he will receive his latest honor. Garcia is flattered and wants to ride on a horse in full regalia, but Pizza nastily tells Garcia that he is being sent only because the other men are busy and that he should ride to the de la Vega estate on the mule assigned to him.

Diego runs into Esme on the street and pleads with her to run away with him.

This is all I can remember. I'm sure I'm leaving stuff out. As I said, you should read B's recap when it's posted. Hers are funnier.

TRANSLATIONS OF TELEMUNDO AVANCES & SUMMARIES – April 9-13, 2007

Telenovela-World:    AVANCES for today (Mon 9 Apr) + RECAP status update Author: B. (---) Date:   04-09-07 12:42 PDT

RECAP STATUS: of course, the day i have staff meetings all day, LAI has to post the missing recaps. (that would be: 38, 39, and 40 -- last Wednesday, Thursday, AND Friday.) i will get to them when i can.

     AVANCES FOR TODAY

     TEASER: Diego cumple su trato.

Pero Mariángel pagará por sus mentiras.

     loosely, Diego did his part.

But Mugre will pay for her lies. (i want to see her STOMPED. if she's not STOMPED, then she hasn't been made to pay enough.)

TITLE: Diego cumplió su trato. (loosely, Diego did his part.) (LAI, we've had this conversation: try for some inventiveness already...)

     DATE: Monday, 9 April 2007

     EP #41

-Pero Mariángel pagará una a una sus mentiras.

But Mugre will pay for each of her lies. (STOMP Mugre. STOMP her!!! lots of times!!! AND make sure everyone knows she's been lying. but can we count on any of that really happening? not this early in the game, i fear, even with Kooko on board. maybe a little stomp here or there, though...)

-Mariángel no soporta la idea de que Esmeralda espere un hijo de Diego.

Mugre can't stand the idea that Esme is expecting Diego's child. (yeah, like we couldn't see that coming. and what we'd better not see but probably will (Kooko, remember: cats. claws. sharp.) is that classic 'yeah, she's pregnant but it's not yours / i'm pregnant and it is yours" "switcheroo" that is so beloved of novela writers and so loathed by novela viewers. writers, get a clue: even first-time novela watchers don't want to see that any more. it is so done the sun couldn't cook it any more. get over it.)

     -Todo está en su contra.

Everything is against her. (as it should be -- so where's the problem?)

-Y su maldad no tendrá límites. Diego no sabe con quién se casó.

And her evilness will have no limits. (what like it ever has had?? who do you think you're talking to, LAI??) Diego has no idea who he married. (that's because he was too busy trying to outdo Esme in the "i can sacrifice if you can" sweepstakes. morons.)

Telenovela-World:    RECAP for Monday (#41) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-11-07 16:01 PDT

     RECAP FOR MONDAY

NOTE: if you haven't already, please check out Jen Asha's rundown for this episode (see also her PS and Tali's comment in that thread). she hits everything LAI mentions here and MUCH more.

TEASER: Un mujer de mucha importancia...Muchos andan tras su cabeza. (loosely, A very important woman... Many are after her head.)

NEW TITLES: Tras las huellas / Valiosa información. (on the trail / valuable information)

     DATE: Monday, 9 April 2007

     EP #41

-Tobías asiste a la boda junto al supuesto entrenador de esgrima con el propósito de reconocer la identidad del Zorro.

Tobobo attends the wedding together with the supposed fencing master (and his wife! don't forget about Cata, LAI!!) with the aim of (having the fencing master) recognize the identity of Zorro. (you mean, recognize his former student, who would then be "proven" to be Zorro since Zorro's swordsmanship shows he has a student of this supposed master...? good thing we cleared that up, then, LAI. would you also like to mention Pizza's reaction when he met the supposed fencing master? because he sure seemed to be startled, like maybe because he thought the guy looked familiar, or not like he thought he'd look, or something. whatever it was, the feeling/impression/doubt wasn't strong enough for Pizza to act upon it at the time. but i'll bet this comes up again later...)

Peep tells Tinhorn about the identity of the Masked Miracle. he says that she (and AGAIN with the extraneous commas, LAI! what is your problem??) is in reality named Mercédes and that she has blood ties to the Spanish crown, in addition to a MAJOR fortune. (aha, now we see the attraction she held for Young Peep...) She has a lot of men (no women?) interested in killing her to get her treasure (for themselves), including a Count in charge of tracking her down. (i wasn't paying attention -- do we know this Count, or is he going to be yet another new player at some point?) Zorro overhears all. (there was rather a lot of overhearing going on that night... maybe the moon and stars were in a special alignment? now, if only the moon and stars could align themselves in such a way that LAI would start to write coherent and complete recaps...)

-Hermes trata de quitarle la máscara de hierro a Sara Kalí.

Hermes tries to take the duct-tap-- i mean, IRON mask off the Masked Miracle. (Jen Asha covers this much better. ha ha.)

-El Zorro se le aparece al Virrey y le dice que él no mató al inspector, sino que fueron Montero y Fernando.

Zorro appears before the Viceroy and tells him he didn't kill the Viceroy's inspector -- Tinhorn Despot and Peep did. (well, technically only Peep did. but Tinhorn certainly had Pizza making some serious inroads toward killing him via torture for information the inspector wouldn't or couldn't give them, so really, it might have been just a technicallity that Peep shot the guy before Pizza had a chance to really see if his efforts would bear fruit. in other Viceroy news, Zorro steals his gold chain. the Viceroy was a little put out about that. after Zorro left, the Viceroy told Tinhorn Despot that if Tinhorn couldn't manage to capture Zorro in the next 24 hours, he, the Viceroy, would relieve Tinhorn of duty and put Zorro in charge of the prison. hee!)

-Suplicios alimenta y cuida de Camba, el esclavo fugitivo.

Sister Twisted feeds and cares for Camba, the runaway slave. (they're so cute together!)

-Padre Tomás y el Cardenal discuten la posibilidad de que María Pía no acepte ser la Madre Superiora y se vaya con Fernando.

Padre Tomás and the Cardidiot discuss the possibility that María Poopoo doesn't agree to be the Mother Superior and [instead] goes away with Peep. (well, considering she's pretty much renounced the order --or at least, she has for now-- i think it's gone rather beyond "possibility" and into "you need to pick a new candidate" territory at this point...)

-El Virrey toma control de la prisión del Callao.

The Viceroy takes control of the Callao prison. (but i think Tinhorn saw this coming and has already taken a few preventative measures, like moving the Masked Miracle into a hidden room with an entrance that can be sealed so it's not visible from the outside, in the hopes that the Viceroy won't find her. although why they felt they had to move Hermes with her is not entirely clear... perhaps it was thought Hermes might blab about the Masked Miracle to the Viceroy in exchange for his freedom or something...? at any rate, the soldier B.OB. has been paying makes sure that Hermes and the Masked Miracle have extra food, because they figure it may be a while before anyone will be coming by again. Hermes ended up with what he thinks is a key --or maybe it's just a bit of metal?-- that he is trying to use to unlock the duct tape mask. silly man -- why doesn't he just pry up one edge of the tape with his fingernail...??)

-Esmeralda y Diego se ven en secreto.

Esme and Diego meet secretly. (well, not so secretly if Mugre knows about it. and if she didn't figure it out in this episode, she sure knows by the end of the next one... in any event, though they do talk, Esme still doesn't tell him about the baby. ruh-roh...)

-Llega Montero a la residencia de Alejandro.

Tinhorn Despot arrives at Peep's place. (he's coming for the party, but he's brought a gazillion soldiers with him. which just goes to show --as if more proof were needed!-- that the man has no class or social graces. you don't bring a gazillion uninvited guests with you to a wedding reception!!)

as usual, LAI forgot stuff. another thing he forgot was that Blabmu busted up Diego and Esme's little tryst in Diego's room to inform them that Tinhorn had just pulled up with a gang o' soldiers (funny how no-one noticed the rather significant delay between Tinhorn's arrival at the hacienda and his actual arrival at the party caused by his subsequent detour through the barn... i guess they were all too worried about things like giving Diego and Esme a heads-up). or how earlier, Mugre had listened in as Blabmu babbled on about Esme's baby right where Mugre could overhear and be furious about it, which, of course, she was. or how even as Blabmu went running upstairs to warn Esme and Diego, Mugre went running out to talk to Tinhorn before he arrived. of course, Tinhorn figured she wanted something else instead, and she got rather snippy with him about how she needed his big brain, not his little one. really, she should consider his ego -- it's a bit fragile at the best of times, and recently hasn't been at all the best of times... he's going to go off her as a partner-in-dastardy if she isn't more careful...)

and did i mention you should check out Jen Asha's rundown? it's good.

Telenovela-World:     AVANCES for today (Tue 10 Apr); RECAP status update Author: B. (---) Date:   04-10-07 11:24 PDT

RECAP STATUS: LAI has posted the recap for yesterday, but since i've still got last Thursday and Friday's to do, i'm not sure if i will post it today. i WILL get to it and the other two, however...

     AVANCES FOR TODAY

TEASER: María Pía lo ha pensado.

     ¿Un convento sin Madre Superiora?

María Poopoo has thought about it.

A convent without a Mother Superior? (well, no, they'll just pick someone else. duh!!)

TITLE: Mariángel le cuenta a Montero sobre Esmeralda y Diego. (Mugre tells Tinhorn Despot about Esme and Diego.) (so what else is new? she tells him everything so long as it doesn't make her look bad. which is why she didn't tell him about the potion. she doesn't want TD to think she couldn't get Diego without drugging him completely senseless.)

     DATE: Tuesday, 10 April 2007

     EP #42

     -Se avecina la desgracia.

Misfortune looms. (so? it's ALways looming...! try for something that actually tells us something, LAI!)

-Se anuncia una noticia que muchos disfrutarán.

News is announced that many will enjoy. (define "many," LAI. i'm not sure two --or maybe three-- qualifies as "many." unless the news is that Zorro has replaced Tinhorn and Peep as the new comandante and governor. but we all know that's not the news to which you are referring.)

     -Montero miente sin piedad.

Tinhorn Despot lies without mercy. (because usually he's so merciful and truthful?!? puh-leeze, LAI!!!)

-Y el Zorro va en busca de respuestas.

And Zorro goes in search of answers. (and Aerynsun's guess as to what will happen had better NOT be right.)

Telenovela-World:     RECAP for last Tuesday (#42) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-13-07 18:14 PDT

     RECAP FOR TUESDAY

TEASER: María Pía lo ha pensado.¿Un convento sin Madre Superiora? (María Poopoo has thought about it. A convent without a Mother Superior?) (hardly.)

NEW TITLES: El Zorro se defiende / El Zorro defiende lo suyo. ( )

     DATE: Tuesday, 10 April 2007

     EP #42

-En plena recepción de bodas, Montero anuncia que Esmeralda espera un hijo suyo. Ella se desmaya y la noticia perturba a Diego.

In the middle of the wedding reception, Tinhorn Despot announces that Esme is expecting his child. She faints and the news perturbs Diego. (or something. i'm not sure "perturbed" was really the was Esme's faint real or faked? my money's on faked.)

-En la misma recepción, el Maestro Samaniego acusa a Tobías de ser el Zorro. Pizarro se lleva al acusado preso.

At the same reception (what? like they have wedding receptions every night, LAI?), [the fencing master] Maestro Samaniego accuses Tobobo of being Zorro. (Cata may not think much of her husband as a husband, but she at least had the loyalty to be appalled.) Pizza arrests him and hauls him off. (ok, a bit loose, but it comes to the same thing in the end. and really, you have to give everyone points for stupidity here. and speaking of the "fencing master," it just occurred to me that, rather than a Hoodie Gang plant, that the so-called fencing master might instead be someone B.OB. and/or his "su majestad" may have sent.)

-Hermes no puede quitarle la máscara de hierro a Sara Kali. La llave de la máscara la tiene Fernando, quien la busca y no la encuentra porque Olmos se la robado y se la ha dado a su soldado cómplice en la prisión.

Hermes can't get the duct ta-- sorry, IRON maks of the Masked Miracle. (yes, you need a special kind of key for that. although wasn't that what Hermes stole/got from the soldier B.OB. suborned before they got sealed up so the Viceroy's inspector wouldn't find them? i'm starting to lose track of chain of custody here...) Peep has the key to the mask (except he doesn't, as even LAI admits right now), who is looking for it and can't find it because B.OB. has stolen it from him and given it to his soldier accomplice at the prison. (ok, so maybe that wasn't the key that Hermes got, but just a random small piece of metal he was figuring to use to pick the lock with? and he couldn't because the lock is some special type, as Peep explained ad nauseum to B.OB. when they were looking for the key in its little velvet bag...?)

Peep is very changed (no, he's not. but then again, you're gullible, LAI. we all know that.) and very happy because he's got María Poopoo with him. (ick. just ICK.) He again proposes marriage to her and tells her that soon he will have a fortune which he will share with her. (yeah, but he somehow managed not to mention that that fortune is that of his STILL-LIVING WIFE the Masked Miracle. gee, i wonder how THAT managed to slip his mind...??) For her part, Blabmu comments to the ever-less worthy Fat Pecs that Peep can't get married so long as his wife Mercedes (aka The Masked Miracle) is alive. (yes, and what happens? Unworthy Pecs goes off to force Diego to perform his husbandly duties then faults on his own in a SERIOUS way, by 1.- abandoning his own wife on their wedding night, and 2.- HAVING SEX WITH YUMMY. you forgot to mention that, didn't you, LAI? hmmmmm, could it be because it shows Unworthy Pecs in his TRUE light and you just can't take it???)

-El Zorro enfrenta a soldados y a Montero, y logra arrebatarle a Esmeralda. Se la lleva para su cueva y la interroga sobre el hijo que espera.

Zorro confronts Tinhorn Despot's soldiers (who are accompanying Tinhorn and Esme back to Tinhorn's hovel. he beats all the soldiers) and manages to make away with Esme. (who tries really really hard to resist. NOT. she didn't even look scared. i wonder if Tinhorn will call her on that...? and if he does, will she think to say, "yes, well, even Zorro is preferable to you," or will she maybe consider that to be just a shade too provocative even if it is the truth?) He takes her back to the Zat Cueva and interrogates her about this child she's expecting. (and since this is so late already i'll just go ahead and say it: thank heavens Kooko didn't try to draw that Don't-Tell-Diego story out any longer.)

     AVANCES FOR TODAY

TEASER: Esmeralda se fue con el Zorro...

     Y Montero se las cobrará.

     Esme went with Zorro...

And Tinhorn Despot will get even with them...

(Tinhorn's starting to sound a little like the adults in the Charlie Brown cartoons... wanhwanhwanhwanhi'llgetyouforthiswanhwanh)

TITLE: Montero ha sido burlado. (Tinhorn Despot's been mocked.) (because he's just so FUN to mock!!)

     DATE: Wednesday, 11 April 2007

     EP #43

-Esmeralda se fue con el Zorro...

Esme went with Zorro... (and really, can you blame her?)

     -Y Montero se siente humillado.

And poor baby (NOT) Tinhorn Despot feels humilliated. (and yet he just doesn't get it.)

     -Mientras Diego aclara sus dudas...

While Diego clarifies his doubts... (well, assuming Kooko doesn't have Esme decide to lie to him some more, that is.)

     -Sus enemigos preparan una venganza.

Their enemies prepare a revenge. (by "enemies," should we assume this is Tinhorn + Pizza? or is LAI trying to tell us that Tinhorn gangs up with Mugre? and i wonder how long it's going to take Tinhorn to figure out that getting Mugre pregnant with HIS child might be fitting? of course, he'd have to get Mugre's cooperation in that -- i wonder if she'll be willing? 'coz somehow i just don't see her as the wanting-to-be-pregnant type...)

Telenovela-World:     RECAP for last Wednesday  [USA, 4/11/07] Author: B. (---) Date:   04-15-07 22:27 PDT

     RECAP FOR WEDNESDAY

TEASER: Esmeralda se fue con el Zorro...Y Montero se las cobrará. (Esme went with Zorro... And Tinhorn Despot will make them pay.) (i can see his wanting to make Zorro pay, LAI, but please try to remember that only THREE characters on the show right now know that Diego = Zorro and Tinhorn and his men are not any of the three...)

NEW TITLES: Una noticia alegre / Diego sabe que será papá. (Some happy news / Diego knows he will be a father.) (and we don't have to sit through an interminable "who's the daddy?" story. at least, not with Esme. but i bet if Mugre gets pregnant -- no, i am not going to go any further. maybe Kooko hasn't thought of that...)

     DATE: Wednesday, 11 April 2007

     EP #43

-Esmeralda le dice a Diego que el hijo que espera será suyo. Ambos planifican irse lejos, a un lugar seguro, tan pronto rescaten a la madre de Esmeralda. El Zorro ayudará con la misión.

Esme tells Diego that the child she is expecting is his. (and all the viewers cheer in relief.) Both plan to go far away (together, though LAI doesn't really make that so clear), to a safe place, just as soon as they rescue Esme's mother. (except isn't Diego still insisting that Zorro is going to be the one to rescue the Masked Miracle and that Esme should stay out of it and keep herself --and now his baby-- safe?) Zorro will help with the mission. (!!!???)

-Yumalay ayuda a Alejandro buscar a Diego por los montes. Como hay mal tiempo, ambos acampan en un lugar seguro, y terminan haciendo el amor.

Yummy helps Fat Pecs look for Diego in the mountains. (yeah. right.) Since the weather is bad, they take shelter in a safe place (not so much safe as out of the weather. and isolated. you know, for privacy and all.), and end up making love. (or having sex. but i guess that LAI is in the Yummy + Fat Pecs 4Evah camp... notice how LAI doesn't mention that Fat Pecs just got married to someone NOT Yummy, or that Fat Pecs abandoned his bride and his own "marital obligations," on their wedding night, to go find Diego to FORCE Diego to "fulfill his marital obligations" to Mugre --even though Mugre didn't actually ask him to find Diego for her (and where was Mugre, by the way? i don't care, but some people might want to know...)-- even knowing that Diego only went through with the marriage out of respect to his father (respect his father certainly doesn't seem to have done much to deserve!), or that Fat Pecs DIDN'T make love to the woman he just married, or even to a woman he loves, but to a woman who reminds him of his long-dead wife, a woman he "loved" too little to allow to be herself but instead expected her to change to suit his notions of what is proper. no, LAI doesn't mention any of that stuff because he lurves his widdle Fat Pecs, the lying, disrespectful, hypocritical fink.)

-Almudena trata de convencer a María Pía que no se case con Fernando y le advierte que tenga cuidado con él.

Blabmu tries to convince María Poopoo not to marry Peep (not very successfully) and warns her to be careful with him. (but since Fat Pecs, in yet another stellar lack of concern for anyone not himself, was too cowardly to tell María Poopoo news he knew she would not want to hear --let alone want to believe-- so he delegated the task of warning María Poopoo off Peep to Blabmu but then ordered her not to reveal the biggest reason WHY María Poopoo should beware of Peep and his marriage proposals. but LAI doesn't mention any of that because he thinks Fat Pecs is Perfect.)

-Fernando trata de convencer al Virrey de que no tiene a Mercedes (Sara Kalí) pero no lo logra. Sigue la búsqueda por la mujer.

Peep tries to convince the Viceroy that he doesn't have the Masked Miracle (aka the Masked Miracle) but he isn't successful. (Angel: "Why don't I belive him?" Oz: "Well, he lacks credibility.")

Telenovela-World: AVANCES for today (Thu 12 Apr 2007) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-12-07 14:06 PDT

RECAP STATUS: as of 4p Pacific time, the recap for last night (#43) has not been posted, and at this point it's unlikely LAI will bother with it before tomorrow. in the meantime, those anxious to know what actually happened (as opposed to what LAI is going to not mention whenever he finally does get around to posting something) might want to check out Aerynsun's Little summary. as for #42 (Tuesday's), i hope to get to that today, staff meetings permitting, so we'll finally be caught up...

     AVANCES FOR TODAY

     TEASER: Inocentes pagarán...

     ¿Llegará el Zorro a tiempo?

     Innocents will pay...

Will Zorro arrive in time? (well, i'm going to go with "yes," but Kooko may have other ideas. still, the only reason i can think of for Kooko to have Tinhorn Despot start killing people now is to give Esme a reason to keep quiet about the baby (you know, so the baby doesn't distract Zorro from his duties) and she's already told him (yay! Kooko may be a hack, but at least he doesn't drag things out the way a typical novela hack would. credit where credit is due...), so i think it's safe to assume Zorro will get there in time. so why are you trying to get us all wound up, LAI? there would have been way more drama if you'd gone for something like, "will Tinhorn get his "wife" back?")

TITLE: Esmeralda le dijo a Diego que será papá. (Esme tells Diego he's going to be a father.) (FINALLY. i wonder if he'll be pissy when he learns he's, oh, about the last person in town to know about it, or if the euphoria won't have worn off yet...?)

     DATE: Thursday, 12 April 2007

     EP #44

-La pasión que sienten Diego y Esmeralda es intocable.

The passion Diego and Esme feel [for each other] is untouchable. (take THAT, Romeo and Juliet!! LAI has spoken!)

-Montero querrá destruir a Diego...Y al Zorro.

Tinhorn Despot wants to destroy Diego... and Zorro. (stop trying to make it sound like Tinhorn knows Diego = Zorro. he doesn't, and we all know he doesn't. who do you think you're fooling, LAI??)

-Para eso, estará dispuesto a matar inocentes.

To do this, he will be willing to kill innocents. (Tinhorn's past "will be" and is onto "IS willing" to kill innocents. but that's to catch Zorro, not because he thinks Diego is Zorro and he's getting two birds with one stone.)

     -¿Llegará el Zorro a tiempo?

Will Zorro arrive in time? (see previous comments on this, above in the Teaser part. and try not to be SO repetitious, LAI!!)

Telenovela-World:    RECAP for last Thursday [USA, 4/12/07] (corrected - thanks Aeryn)

     Author: B. (---)

     Date:   04-15-07 22:53 PDT

     RECAP FOR THURSDAY

UPFRONT DISCLAIMER: due to a wind-caused power failure at home, i was not able to watch or record this episode. a copy is being sent to me, but it won't arrive until later this week, so... however, although this isn't exactly a recap, per se, Aerynsun's comments in this thread (2 posts) might help a bit.

TEASER: Inocentes serán las víctimas...¿Llegará el Zorro a tiempo? (Innocents will be the victims... Will Zorro arrive in time?) (duh, YES.)

NEW TITLES: Noticias alentadoras / Sara Kalí está en peligro. (Encouraging news / the Masked Miracle is in danger.) (ok, i know that one title often has nothing to do with the other, but ya gotta love the juxtaposition here. it's good news that the Masked Miracle is in danger...? hee!

     DATE: Thursday, 12 April 2007

     EP #44

-Padre Tomás se reúne con la Cofradía y acuerdan ayudar al Zorro a rescatar a Sara Kalí.

Padre Tomás gets together with the Hoodie Gang and whty agree to help Zorro rescue the Masked Miracle. (ok, is there ANYone left in town who isn't trying to get their hands on the Masked Miracle for one reason or another??)

-El Zorro se enfrenta a Montero junto a hombres del pueblo y lo vencen. Montero es humillado otra vez.

Zorro, together with the men from the town, confronts Tinhorn Despot and they defeat him. (what men? i thought Tinhorn had all the men in town rounded up so he could kill them.) Tinhorn is humilliated again. (i've said this before, but that humilliate-Tinhorn thing just doesn't get old...)

-Mariángel trata de sacarle información a Olmos, seduciéndolo, pero él no cae ante sus artimañas. Ella le dice que sabe que la madre de Esmeralda está viva. Olmos le comenta a Esmeralda.

Mugre tries to get information (about what?) out of B.OB. [by] seducing him, but he doesn't fall for her ploy. (haha. then again, Mugre is too obvious anyway...) She tells him she knows that Esme's mother is alive. (thanks, Blabmu. i think just about everyone in town knows except María Poopoo...) B.OB. remarks on this to Esme. (and what does Esme say? i don't know.)

-Tobías se da cuenta que el Maetro Samaniego es un impostor.

Tobobo realizes that the supposed Fencing Maestro Samaniego is an impostor. (really? what gave him away? i thought he was doing such a good job he had everyone fooled...?)

-El Zorro le dice a los de la Cofradía que los actuales reyes de Españá son nefastos y que la única alternativa es Sara Kalí.

Zorro tells the guys in the Hoodie Gamg that the real kings of Spain are bad and that the only alternative is the Masked Miracle. (and he knows this... how?)

-María Pía accede a casarse con Fernando

María Poopoo agrees to marry Peep. (...and here we go...)

-Los hombres del Virrey encuentran el túnel en la prisión donde se esconde Sara Kalí.

The Viceroy's men find the tunnel in the prison [at the end of which] is hidden the Masked Miracle. (ruh roh...)

-Olmos siembra dudas en -Esmeralda sobre Diego de la Vega. Diego, por su parte, le lleva flores a Mariángel y le dice que la hará muy feliz.

B.OB. sows doubts in Esme about Diego de la Vega. (what? about his fidelity? these two need to learn to trust each other just a little bit more...) Diego, for his part, takes flowers to Mugre and tells her he will make her very happy. (obviously, it's a ploy. Diego's got something up his sleeve. maybe a little payback for her trick that resulted in their shotgun marriage??)

by the way, have Rat Pecs and Blabmu seen each other since he did the deed with Yummy instead of his wife? what was his excuse? and did he come clean about what they did? i bet not. it's interesting that LAI doesn't mention Rat Pecs once this whole recap. i guess Rat Pecs didn't do anything he could put a good spin on, so he left it out so he didn't have to deal with it...

Telenovela-World:     AVANCES for today (Fri 13 April) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-13-07 14:47 PDT

RECAP STATUS: as of 2p Pacific time, the missing recap for #43 (Wed) has been posted, but of course, now there's no recap for #44 (last night's ep) -- yet. if i have a chance today, i will try to get to both #42 and #43. otherwise, i will post them when i can, which may turn out to be not until next week if they don't get the power back on at home before then. my home is in one of the areas that lost power yesterday afternoon, courtesy of the high, gusty winds blowing through Southern California. the power was still out when i left for work this morning, and there have been reports that it will take several days for them to fully restore power to all customers, so...

4.15p Pacific: the recap for #44 has also been posted. aaack! i will get to all of these. i will!

     but meanwhile,

     AVANCES FOR TODAY

     TEASER: Este pueblo necesita ayuda...

Porque cada cual tiene su agenda.

This town needs help... (i'll say!!)

Because everyone has his own agenda. (and apparently none of those agendas includes anything even remotely civic-minded... hmmmmm, little seems to have changed.)

TITLE: Diego ha decidido cumplir sus faenas de esposo. (Diego has decided to fulfill his husbandly chores.) (good choice of word --for a change!-- LAI. doing anything with Mugre is a chore at the best of times, and a true pennance at the worst...)

     DATE: Friday, 13 April 2007

     EP #45

     -Esmeralda se muere de celos.

Esme is dying of jealousy. (you know, between Esme dying of jealousy and Diego dying of jealousy and even Zorro dying of jealousy, how is it that any of them are still alive at this point...? i'm just saying...)

-Por su parte Sara Kalí corre peligro.

For her part, the Masked Miracle is in danger. (um, remind me, LAI: when has she not been in some danger, even if only to our ability to suspend disbelief?)

-El misterio de la máscara de hierro está a punto de descubrirse.

The mystery of the duct ta-- i mean, "iron" mask is on the verge of being discovered. (verge, schmerge. you know, i bet if we all start caring, then Kooko will stop trying to goad us into caring and finally have someone get her mask off.)

-¿Qué hará Montero, El Zorro y los gitanos?

What will Tinhorn Despot, Zorro, and the gypsies do? (don't make it sound like they're all working together, LAI -- we all know they're not. and since they're not any of them working together (even if Zorro and the gypsies are on the same side, at least), why not include the rest of the people who are after the "secret" behind the duct-tape mask to your list...??)

Telenovela-World:     RECAP for #45 (Friday)  [USA< 4/13/07]  Author: B. (---)  Date:   04-17-07 18:44 PDT

LAI got around to posting this sometime this afternoon. still no sign of the recap for last night's episode, though i think he got some of it mixed in here...

     RECAP FOR FRIDAY

TEASER: Este pueblo necesita ayuda...Porque cada cual tiene su agenda. (This town needs help... Because everyone has his own agenda) (and that goes triple for Esme, it seems...)

NEW TITLES: Se prepara el rescate / Todo preparado. (The rescue is prepared / (loosely, All set.) (yeah, all set. but for what? didn't any of these people notice it's FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH?? how could they possible expect things to go right??)

     DATE: Friday, 13 April 2007

     EP #45

-Olmos tiene todo preparado para liberar a Sara Kalí. Esmeralda y Diego dudan de sus intenciones, pero ella decide confiar.

B.OB. has everything ready to free the Masked Miracle. (to free her, but... then what?) Esme and Diego doubt his intentions, but she decides to trust. (wait, i thought Esme didn't tell Diego anything about B.OB.'s involvement in The Plan...?? did i miss something?)

Blabmu confronts Peep and asks him not to marry María Poopoo because he will really hurt [María Poopoo by so doing]. (yeah, like asking him to do that is really going to work. still, i suppose she did it because if you don't ask, you usually can't get...) According to Blabmu, Poopoo doesn't know Peep well and there is a lot she doesn't know [about him]. (well, that's true. but there are philosphers who have argued that you never really CAN know someone well. perhaps Peep subscribes to their theories...?) Blabmu swears to her brother that she will do everything she possibly can to stop them from marrying. (oh, yeah, like he's going to view THAT as a threat... by the way, i know this was in last night's episode and not in the one for this recap, but didja notice how Peep uttered The Fateful Phrase, "Nothing can separate us!!"?? is he HIGH? i thought he WANTED to marry María Poopoo!!)

-El Virrey no encuentra a Sara Kalí, ya que ella no hace ningún ruido en las cloacas donde está escondida. Ella sabe que el enviado de la corona quiere matarla. El Virrey se marcha y Montero celebra aunque su intriga crece.

The Viceroy can't find the Masked Miracle (because neither he nor his men chose to explore down a nasty-smelling tunnel. so i don't feel too sorry for him. due diligence was called for, and he wasn't duly diligent, so...), since she didn't make any noise whilst in the sewer in which she was hidden. (with Hermes, LAI! you keep forgetting Hermes!! and she make Hermes be quiet, too.) She knows that the Crown's envoy wants to kill her. (i think some foristas are reaching that point, too. get. this. over. with. already. Kooko!!! i'm warning you!) The Viceroy leaves and Tinhorn Despot celebrates although now his curiousity grows. (ours grew, too, but it was a long time ago. now it's started to deflate. FAST.)

-Fernando quiere casarse de inmediato con María Pía. Se la lleva a otro pueblo para hacerlo. Almudena los persigue.

Peep wants to get married to María Poopoo right away. (and she only puts up a token resistance. boy is SHE lame.) Blabmu follows them. (yes, folks, as we see in last night's episode, Kooko the Geographic Ignoramus has Peep and María Poopoo travelling to SAN DIEGO --a hard four-day's journey from Los Angeles at the time-- faster than it takes to get from downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica on the 10 Freeway on a sunny Saturday. AND in a pony trap, which a REAL guy like Peep might not have even owned, and even if he did, would never have contemplated using for a journey of more than a mile or two at most. and we won't even talk about the fact that it didn't have any kind of covering, and if Peep had the intention of getting out of town to marry María Poopoo, well, way to be discrete about it, guy!!! yes, let's just set off on our secret journey in plain view of everyone who cares to look, as well as making yourself a total target for any stray indian who wants to shoot at you!! what happened? did they use up their production budget for the carriages or something, and this was all they could afford??)

A group of indians arrives at Rat Pecs' house looking for Yummy the Manstealer. (they're from Yummy's tribe, which is apparently not wiped out after all -- who knew? didn't Yummy and Yako exposit that their whole tribe had been wiped out by Peep when we first met them onscreen? i guess "wiped out" means something different to Kooko than it does to the rest of us...)

-Olmos se lleva a Esmeralda para rescatar a Sara Kalí. Ella duda de los planes pero va. Bernardo es testigo del movimiento y sale a buscar al Zorro.

B.OB. carries off Esme to rescue the Masked Miracle. (she did need a certain amount of convincing, because she wanted to go tell Diego. i guess her conscience was --belatedly-- starting to kick in at long last.) She is doubtful of the plans (because they didn't involve her being front-and-center of the action) but (in the end) she goes. Bernardo witnesses these movements and heads off to look for Zorro. (um, wasn't that in yesterday's episode, not in Friday's...?)

i'm not entirely sure, but i think LAI included some of last night's episode with this one. i mean, i know i did, but i marked it.

whatever. let's what what (if!) he posts for #46, whenever he gets around to it...

SUMMARIES OF EPISODES FOR WEEK OF April 9-13, 2007

Telenovela-World:     Little summary for Faith SPOILERS WCC [USA, 4/11/07] Author: Aerynsun (---) Date:   04-11-07 19:28 PDT

Esme told Diego he is going to be a daddy. Diego was very happy and he convinced Esme to stay there, let him save her mother, and agreed to meet her and her mother in Spain. He still doesn't know how he is going to make Diego disappear, Esmeralda is still concerned that he is going to abandon his mission as Zorro, but anyway, that's their plan for the moment

Alejandro asked Almu to wait for him. He was worried about his son, so he went out to look for him

Monty has a plan to trap Zorro that involves the townspeople

Bernardo tells Diegorro that Alejandro is looking for him. Diego feels sorry for his dad and comments "Its his wedding night" Esme tells him "Yours too, what are you going to do?" Diego tells her that he doesn't plan to ever sleep with Mugre, and he is going to pretend to be an idiot and it won't take much effort because he is used to it (that wasn't a snarky comment by me, this is what he actually said! lol!)

Fernando is crazy looking for his key, ordering a couple of maids to look for a little velvet bag. Olmost comes in and for moments Fernando seems to suspect him. Olmost seems rather nervous, but he pretends to know nothing and starts helping Fernando look for the key. Later on Peeps does let Olmost know that he is suspecting him. Olmost acts all hurt and Fernando ends up apologizing

While looking for his son, Alejandro finds Yumalay. Its morning already. He asks her to go home but she insists in helping him with his search

MP tells Dololes that Fernando didn't kill Regypurnia. Dololes is not convinced. MP asks her if there was another evidence that Peeps was guilty besides the dagger. Dololes ponders.

Esme is happy that Diego didn't spend the night with Mugre (and she tells him so lol!) Esme asks him what he plans to do with Montero. Diego says Bernardo already took care of letting Monty know, what Zorro is capable of. Monty wakes up and finds a skull and some bones next to him. He finds a note by Zorro telling him that, as soon as he tells The Viceroy who really killed his inspector, he will return Esmeralda. Monty gets really mad, makes a ball with the note and throws it at the door that has a huge Z carved in it ROTFL!

Diego went out to look for his father but there is a storm outside. He comes back to the cave and finds Esme in her underwear. He then tells her that he is tired and needs to relax (he says it in this very naughty tone) She says she can help him and they proceed to kiss (they are such sinverguenzas, but I love them!)

In the meantime, Yumalay and Alejandro are taking refuge in a stable or something, I dont know what it is. He says they need to take their wet clothes off because they will get sick otherwise (aha!) Then he tells Yummy that he will warm her with his body and asks her to lay next to him while he embraces her and caresses her. They talk about Almudena. Alejandro laments that she is spending her wedding night alone (although technically, the night is over) Yummy comments that Almudena is a good woman, "I can see people's soul" Alejandro praises her for being such a smart and intuitive woman. You can tell Yummy barely resists the temptation to kiss him, yet, they keep talking about Almudena.

Cat and Pizza are kissing. She keeps telling him that Tobobo is not Zorro. Pizza says that he still needs to be investigated

Almudena and MP meet at the courtyard? wearing their nightgowns? Almudena's outfit was specially wtf! She was practically in her underwear and wearing high heels. Anyway, Almu tells MP that Esme's baby is Diego's (because everbody and their mother must know, you know?) and she inquires her about her decision to leave the convent. When MP admits that Peeps has a lot to do with it, Almudena warns her not to trust Peeps (What took them so long to react?)

Alejandro is dreaming of Regina. He wakes up and finds Yummy really close to him. They make love

Diego tells Esme that his last mission as Zorro will be to put Montero away. After that, he will join her and her mother in Spain

Mugre went to see Monty, with the intention of telling him about Esme's plans regarding the masked miracle, but Monty is so rude to her that Mugre decided not to tell him anything

Alejandro regrets what he did with Yummy, she doesn't, he says that they can't keep doing this

Suplicios and MP meet on the street. MP asks Suppy to forgive her for lying to her about Fernando (when Suppy said that she had heard his voice)

Monty threatens the townspeople. He says he will kill one family every hour if Zorro doesn't return his wife. Bernardo bring the news to Diego

Telenovela-World:   Today's episode [USA, 4/12/07], all my comments in one post Author: Aerynsun (---) Date:   04-12-07 20:00 PDT

Today's episode didn't excite me, but at least, some things happened

Peeps dream, ok, so now we know he did it (but he wasn't lying when he said he didn't do it, because he didn't remember, apparently)

I think it's safe to say that we can still trust Olmost

Zorro looked very pretty as usual and I liked what he told Esme before he left her at Montero's house, Diego's hair on the other hand...MY GOD! ok, you know what Im thinking so I'll just leave it there

Didn't Esme promise Diego she would let him rescue her mother? and Why didn't she mention Olmost to Diego? ugfhhhhhh frustrating!

     Garcia, beautiful as always

MP tells Peeps about Almudena's warning, HOW STUPID IS THIS WOMAN? I guess pretty stupid since she accepted Peeps marriage

proposal too

I was sooo afraid BlabMu was going to tell Peeps she (and the rest of the world) knows about Sara Kali

I also wonder what exactly Diego plans to do with Mugre

Telenovela-World:   All my comments from the last week  [USA, 4/9-13/07]  Author: dlandros (---) Date:   04-14-07 09:25 PDT

Things that caught my attention during the last week:

Mugre and Olmost in his bedroom: At the beginning I though it was a dream because why would Mugre be taking a bath in her father’s house the day after her wedding? Are we supposed to believe that she went to Peep’s house and got in her underwear just to seduce the truth out of Olmost?

Naughty Pizarro: Thanks Kooko for throwing me a bone! I lurrve Pizza and all that but I was getting a bit tired of ALWAYS watching him besides Monte. I loved the way he responded when Cata invited him to her house to talk: “How boring. If you invite me only to talk I won’t go” (and Gomís was perfect, the instant change to the lecherous expression while looking her up and down, the tone that ends almost in a whisper.) That’s the closest we’ve seen Pizarro with a playful expression.

Suspicious looks: Why, oh, why does everybody looks suspiciously to the sides when they’re having a secret conversation? (Estwit does it the most) Please just act normal as if you were having tea or discussing the weather! That way if people look at you, they won’t think you’re talking about anything secret!!!

Diesme: Agree with y’all. They looked a lot more relaxed with each other, the kisses looked passionate and real. Well, it took this long for CM and La Favela to get comfy together and I’m glad. They look in love and in lust for once.

Blabmu’s jammies, Fat Pecs sleeping with his “goddaughter”: You guys said it all, that was just yucky. The worst part was FP’s philosophizing about hurting people you love and then promising to make Blab happy (for his age, Fat Pecs seems to have a lot energy. Sleeping with two women in a few hours!) Well, dude, making a woman happy usually involves fidelity!!! (unless you’re both swingers of course.)

Mugre & Diego’s “wedding night”: I understand that Diego wanted to get even but how is he going to solve the “Mugre problem” in the future? I would doubt she would want to drink another single drop of liquor in his presence so how does he hope to avoid having sex with her? The solution seems really simple to me, I mean, men need to be…er…interested to have sex with a woman so you would think he wouldn’t be able to perform. But in case he “can’t control himself” because Mugre is “so beautiful that any man would get excited just by seeing her, yada, yada, yada”, he actually doesn’t have to make love to her! (as in making sure she enjoys it, kissing her, caressing her etc.) He can just put it in and be done in 8 seconds. I bet she won’t want to sleep with him after that.

MPeep: MP just went nuts. Doesn’t she realize there was something definitely going on with Peep? Getting married so quickly and without their families is just not normal. And can somebody explain to Koooko or the production that in those days not even married couples kissed in public???

Olmost & Estwit: I smelled a rat as soon as I saw Olmost giving his accomplice the key (the accomplice played a bad guy in LT so I thought he couldn’t be up to good here. He just has a “bad guy” face.) I also wondered why didn’t he give Estwit the key? Anyway, I would have hoped she realized that when people ask you to make a decision now or ever you should always think it twice. And it’s not as if she didn’t have any options because she knew Diegorro would save the Masked Miracle. But if Olmost is betraying Estwit (as it seems) it would make sense he wants to kill Estwit because if the Masked Miracle is the real Queen, then Estwit is the heir to the throne.

Telenovela-World:     Vamos a Ver  [USA, 4/12-13/07]  Author: Enoch (---)  Date:   04-14-07 13:15 PDT

     Let's see what I recall:

The spoiler for Monday suggests that Esmeralda gets shot by someone. I am not sure if was the bribed soldier of the prison??? If so, that gets rid of the baby so Esme won't be "great with child" for the next 6 months.

On the wedding night Alejandro went out and fornicated with Yulemai, caught in the rain together in a barn, whilst he was out trying to find (non-lego) his Dee-Ego. The Indian just happened to be riding a horse in Alejandro's path and was eager-beaver to help out Alej with the search. Montero pronounced Esmeralda pregnant in front of Diego, who had miraculously recovered from his earlier headache (relieving him of attending to the Redhead) earlier. He came downstairs to hear Montero gloat on the pregnancy of "his" baby, though they ain't hardly been married long enough to know, presuming a conception had occured on Montero's noche de boda.

No to be outdone, Diego went out and fornicated with Esmeralda, neglecting any attention to the Redhead on their wedding night, and neglecting his promises in the church.

After Dee-ego came back, he got out of cohabiting with the Redhead by doing magician tricks with flowers and booze. He drank the Redhead under the table, so he could escape. Dee-ego, like a good alcoholic, can imbibe a lot and act pretty normal.

The Viceroy got plans for the prison and had it searched. His henchman found the suspiciously recently sealed tunnel to Sara Kali and the Beard. Forgetting his earlier plan (which required a discrete discovery with Viceroy-only troops), Vice went to the tunnel with Montero and Montero's troups. There in hiding, Sara & Beard lit a fire and kept it burning, whilst they talked up a storm, despite the fact that the Vice & Co. were opening the tunnel and peering in. The Viceroy must have needed glasses, as he did not notice the fire. Also, he may have forgot his hearing aid, as he did not hear them talk.

The guv talked Pius Mary into eloping to another village, since his sis had threatening to stop the wedding by giving Pius Mary an earful of truth about the guv (who is currently married, in fact).

Did you see Zorro whup Montero's security force that accompanied him and Esmeralda in carriage? Z whupped 'em -- chased off one guy just with a stare. Then they had a little sword fight & Z whupped Mont. Then he came out with his smoke bomb and carried Esmeralda away. Bernardo snuck into Mont's bedroom, put a skull & bones there and a note . What did it say? I think it said that M would get E back after he fessed up about who shot the Inspector.

The skull and bones were put in Monty's bed, on the side of the bed where his wife would theoretically be, under the blankets. All this was done by Bernardo whilst Monty slept. Also, a huge Z was scratched on the inside of Monty's door, all this without waking the lad.

Montero responded to this by gathering a plethora of plebs into the patio, central of the village of LA. There he proposed to start shooting them, family by family until Z knuckled under. The plebs did not run, but just stood there. However, Sgt Garcia refused to cooperate and stood in front of a family about to get shot. Meanwhile, Z had organized a bunch of peasants to run to the plaza and attack. Pizzaro saw him coming, and distracted the Montero from shooting a family (with a single shot musket), by announcing that Z was coming, and they'd best depart from the plaza.

Meanwhile, what day was it that Pizarro committed adultery with the buzzard's wife? Anyhow, the buzzard, accused of being Zorro by the alleged sword-fighting maestro, was under arrest, imprisoned in a better-than-average holding-room. The buzzard complained about fleas. But still he was not released. The old goat eating the buzzard out of house & home, complained about his conditions to the buzzard's adulterous wife, who was spoon-feeding him. It appears now that the maestro may be an impostor -- or at best a hopeless dementia case. The maestro thought that the adulterous wife was a relative of himself from somewhere else.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, some Indians turned up, who alleged that they are relatives of Yumalai. They demand to speak with her. Yumalai has the same grandmama as Regina, a lady named White Buffalo, Bufala Blanca, no relation to Buffalo Bill, methinks. They approached Alejandro with frowns on the faces, being non-candidates for toothpaste ads. Apparenty some of Yulalai's tribe was not exterminated after all.

Don Diego's wet-nurse regan~o a Alejandro for leaving All-muddy alone on La noche de boda. Alejandro rebuked her for not keeping her place.

Sgt Garcia is in hot water with Monty. I think that it was slipped out that Garcia is from some important family & his (unlikely) pedigree has protected him from punishment in the past.

Z arrived at the plaza and made fools out of them all as usual. He did his old Lash Larue stunt, whereby a whip can be used as a lasso, whipping up to some gargoyle or something at a roof top, the whip wrapping around it and then one being able to pull oneself up. As a child I tried it, but could never get the whip to lay hold of anything so one could climb with it. But after the smoke bomb, thrown out by Bernardo, Z appeared 2 stories up on the roof.

Meanwhile, the Redhead was pumping Almos' for intelligence on what is going on, particularly re Sara Kali. Almos' has stolen the guv's special key to the special Swiss lock on SK's ducttape mask.

Almos' is being too helpful. At the end of Frifish night's episode, he is telling Esmeralda that

     "It's now or never;

     Come hold SK tight,

     get her right now,

     not tomorrow night;

     tomorrow will be too late,

it's now or never, SK won't wait."

Yet Esmeralda just promised Donde Ego that she won't take action without first advising him. But Almos' says they ain't time. And she'd better not let anyone know.

The guv meanwhile has got a priest to marry him to Pius Mary; only they are going shopping first. All-muddy saw them leave town in a carriage and tried to chase them; like "Taxi, follow that car," only using another carriage; but I think she failed to catch them.

You probably saw Suplicios faint whilst collecting alms. The surg general picked her up. (poor Sup). Is the surg going to bleed her?

Anyhow, Z let Esmeralda return to Montero's bedroom, where she appeared tied up and complaining to guards that they are inutil. She complains to the Lt and the Lt complains to the enlisted men.

Sorry, I am out of order on these memories. I also recall the Redhead invading Almos' bedroom to try to tease info out of him. She almos' let him lick her feet. She almos' offered herself to Almos', but he said he didn't want it like this; he wanted her to quiver in delight at his touch. She put his hand to her heart and asked him if he felt anything. She said her heart felt nothing for him, you pathetic piece of deformity.

Maybe Almo's is motivated by trying to get Esmeralda out of town by getting SK out of prison, so's they both will skeedaddle, taking Donde Ego with them.

The Viceroy gave up trying to find SK, though he peered into her territory. The stench was bad. The Viceroy's henchman was not eager beaver to go down the tunnel. The Viceroy left town in a magnificent coach, to the sound of "Feliz Viaje" from the Comandante. Vice also avowed to have the hide of the Marquesa who told him SK was in that prison.

So, we are all on tenterhooks waiting to see Esmeralda being shot.

TRANSLATIONS OF TELEMUNDO AVANCES & SUMMARIES – APRIL 16-20, 2007

Telenovela-World:     AVANCES for today (Mon 16 Apr) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-16-07 10:45 PDT

it's Monday. are your taxes done yet?

RECAP STATUS: as of 5p Pacific time on Monday, LAI has not yet posted the recap for Ep #45 (last Friday). at this point, i doubt we'll see it before tomorrow -- if then; the ways of LAI are generally unscrutable (because he's so disorganized). for those that can't wait, though, you might want to check out Enoch's combined summary for Thursday and Friday, here.

     AVANCES FOR TODAY

     TEASER: Tanta bondad....

Sin embargo, el peligro se huele.

     So much goodness...

(loosely) However, danger is in the air. (literally, danger smells.) (danger doesn't seem to be the only thing in town that smells...)

TITLE: Solo unas horas y la vida de Sara Kalí estará en juego. (Just a few hours and the life of the Masked Miracle is in play.) (hasn't she been rescued YET?? only everyone in town knows about her -- what's taking so long?)

     DATE: Monday, 16 April 2007

     EP #46

-Todo está listo para rescatar a Sara.

Everything is ready to resuce Masked. (now LAI can't even be bothered to type her whole name...?? yeesh!)

     -Pero el peligro se huele.

But danger is in the air. (LAI, i know it's Monday and all, but it's not like you posted the recap for last Friday or anything. try for a BIT more originality...!)

     -Tanta bondad significa...¡Traición!

So much goodness means... betrayal! (it does? well, ok, yes, this is KookoLandia, so i suppose so much goodness would mean something bad is going to happen. but exactly where is all the goodness? i seem to be missing that part. maybe it was in Thursday's episode?)

-Una trampa...y la vida de Esmeralda también correrá peligro.

A trap... and the life of Esme will also be in danger. (what. ever. i know you want to believe your boy Rat Pecs is the heroine -- i mean, HERO, LAI, but get over it. Esme is the heroine and she's not going to die. even Kooko isn't that daring. or at least, not that daring this early in the story. now, as for her baby, that's another matter. Kooko has something of a thing for Baby Toasts....)

Telenovela-World:      RECAP for #46 (Monday) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-18-07 13:23 PDT

     RECAP FOR MONDAY

TEASER: Tanta bondad....Sin embargo, el peligro se huele. (So much goodness... However, danger is in the air.) (and agin i ask: where exactly is the goodness? except maybe with the slave who is trying to help la loca de Sister Twisted...?)

NEW TITLES: Las mentiras de Olmos / Esmeralda traicionada. (B.OB.'s lies / Esme betrayed) (and how! and she admits she was wrong not to keep Diegorro in the loop this time, but will the lesson actually stick?? we are dubious...)

     DATE: Monday, 16 April 2007

     EP #46

-Olmos insiste en sus planes de rescatar a Sara Kalí y enreda a Esmeralda en una trampa.

B.OB. insists his plan to rescue the Masked Miracle [be followed] and he gets Esme entangled in a trap. (see the line after the next one for more on this.)

-El Zorro entra a la antigua habitación de Mariángel y encuentra el brebaje que ella usó para atraparlo.

Zorro enters Mugre's old room and finds the potion that she used to trap him. (LAI, LAI, LAI, you're leaving stuff out, like all the posing by Wheelie en route, or what gave Zorro the notion to go snooping in Mugre's old room in the first place (and thinking about that suggested a possible answer to why Mugre went back to Peep's to bathe the other night, instead of staying at Chez Rat Pecs, and that's that she hasn't actually moved any of her stuff over to what will supposedly be her new home yet, so all her clothing, all her jewelry, all her perfumes, and what's left of the bottle of potion are all still back in her old room. where hopefully most will stay --though i'm sure they won't if Mugre has her way). or that although Kooko's dialogue for B.OB. and Mugre at the time indicated it had no smell when they acquired it (here), from Zorro's repulsed reaction as he sniffed at it, it must've somehow acquired one since, and a pretty nasty one at that, because one teensy whiff seems to have been more than enough for our daring Zorro. he immediately recognized what the potion was and knew Mugre had used it to trap him in a "compromising position" so he would have to marry her. he left, taking the little bottle with him.)

-Esmeralda es capturada por unos maleantes dirigidos por Olmos pero logra escapar herida. Mientras, los gitanos logran entrar a la prisión del Callao y rescatan a Sara Kalí. Las cosas no salen como Olmos planificó.

Esme is captured by some baddies commanded by B.OB. but she manages to escape, [although she is] wounded. (um, no, LAI, Esme wasn't "captured" -- she was basically handed off to them by B.OB.: after finally talking Esme into going away with him and his "trusted man" someone (with a ponytail, i missed his name) in a carriage (maybe that was why Peep had to use the lowly pony trap for his pre-nuptial escape to "San Diego" -- because B.OB. had appropriated the carriage...?). but they get past the outskirts of town, B.OB. gets out and leaves Esme with the Untrustworthy Associate, telling her UA will take her off somewhere where she and her mother will meet up and from where they will leave for safety with people B.OB. knows in Spain. he can't go along because he has other things he needs to take care of as part of the The Plan, which, though B.OB. doesn't reveal all the details to Esme, we learn includes having his Suborned Guard in the prison take care of breaking the Masked Miracle out the prison and delivering her to B.OB., who will in turn supposedly deliver her to Esme waiting out of town, and the gypsies, who B.OB. will take care of alerting, will provide the distraction the SG will need as cover for the breakout by attacking the jail. of course, Esme the Action Hero wants to go with B.OB. to talk to the gypsies, but he talks her out of it and leaves her in the carriage with UA, and they continue out of town to an isolated spot. but out in the middle of no-where, Esme repents not having told anyone where she was and wants to go back or she wants to go tell Diego or go tell the gypsies or something (don't remember, really, i wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to her dithering). UA tries to assure her everything will be fine and he and B.OB. are good guys and B.OB. will bring the Masked Miracle to them and everything is good. as proof of this he shows her Peep's infamous velvet bag with the key and tells her it's the only key that will unlock the Masked Miracle's duct tap-- i mean, IRON mask. but Esme is Determined, so he makes sure she's not going to turn around and go back to town to meddle with B.OB.'s big plan by telling the driver to go away (Esme and UA had gotten out of the carriage) and then threatening to shoot Esme if she tried to go anywhere on her own. meanwhile, back in town, B.OB. starts revealing the rest of his big plan to the viewers as he visits SG and gives him the heads-up and a bunch of pearls to ensure SG will get the Masked Miracle out under cover of the gypsy attack and, oh, it's ok if his fellow guards want to go ahead and kill all the gypsies. later, while Esme is making her escape from UA (who manages to graze her with a bullet before she knocks him out with a rock), B.OB. is pretending to be Esme's envoy to the gypsies and tells them about how they need to provide the distraction by attacking the jail. when Gleem (Renzo) suspiciously asks where Esme is and why she's not taking part, B.OB. smoothly explains Esme's not there because she's pregnant and needs to protect her baby. (Gleem looks so unhappy to hear this news that i had to laugh; he just doesn't want to listen when people tell him that Esme and he are NOT repeat N.O.T. D4EO....) Jonás and Azucena are suspicious of B.OB. and his plan, but Gleem is all for it and eventually they are talked into it. all the gypsy men head for the prison, unaware the guards are pretty much expecting their attack. Esme, still in the middle of no-where, has flashbacks --apparently caused by a loss of blood, as i believe we are supposed to interpret from her drunken-like staggering and lurching about-- and realizes that B.OB. betrayed her, which makes her even more determined to get to the gypsies and warn them they're walking into a trap.)

-Yumalay es capturada junto a Alejandro por la tribu de ella. Se preparan para matarla por haberlos traicionado con un hombre blanco y no cumplir su misión de asesinar al hombre de un solo ojo.

(en route to see Yummy's supposedly on-the-brink-of-dying grandmother, White Buffalo,) Yummy, together with Rat Pecs, is captured by her tribe. (um, no. they both went willingly with the boy indian representatives from the tribe. so they weren't "captured," they were ATTACKED. although Yummy didn't seem to be too surprised about it when it happened...) They prepare to kill her for having betrayed them with a white man (i'm assuming they're talking about Rat Pecs here, and since they don't seem to be too fond of white men in general, it's nice they're so concerned about Blabmu. except, of course, they aren't.) and for not fulfilling her mission to kill the Man with Only One Eye (aka Peep). (and as someone on the forum pointed out, the boy indians are just L.A.M.E., considering they entrusted their Big Mission to Jako --who got himself killed-- and Yummy, who can't shoot straight at all and shows extremely poor judgement in general. i guess they're doing the classic machista thing of Blame The Woman even when it's their own fault (or their own fault too), which rather tends to lower them (even further) in my opinion. and, as we saw in last night's episode --still not posted, i just checked-- they are also responsible for debilitated sensibilities of people with taste everywhere because for some reason they had to take Rat Pecs' shirt off before they could restrain him while they killed Yummy (???!? oh, right, Ríos obviously demanded he get a weekly quota of Shirtless Scenes with which to further traumatize viewers --as if Kooko's writing wasn't already enough to put up with!!). anyway, even though Yummy seemed almost to have expected the attack, she obviously hadn't bothered to warn Rat Pecs, who WAS surprised. he tries to defend her, so they attack him, too. ruh roh!!

LAI also left some other stuff out, too, to whit:

*Mugre woke up with a hell of a hangover and immediately realized what Diego had done to avoid sleeping with her. she is Not Pleased. she also ran off to vomit almost immediately. now, in most poeple, this would be just one more sign of her hangover. but since we know she's been sleeping with Tinhorn, and she's CLAIMING she slept with Diego, you just know she's going to be pregnant... gag me. she was getting dressed after her sojourn in the bathroom and was just making all the usual "you don't know who you married...!!" type of comments to herself when she is attacked from behind. B.OB. has snuck up and put something over her mouth that seems to knock her out, and now he's carrying her off with him...

*Peep and María Poopoo made better time getting to San Diego in a pony trap than i can make in a car on a completely empty freeway with no cops. meanwhile, Blabmu's carriage gets a broken wheel. as she's helping the driver fix the wheel so they can get back on the road because they've heard wedding bells, Peep is anxiously waiting outside a hotel or a pension or a dive bar or something while María Poopoo changes into the wedding dress she just seems to have had hiding in the purse she wasn't carrying. or something. i have no idea where the dress came from, but suddenly, there she is, sailing out of the door all in white, right into Peep's eager arms. they kiss passionately, right there in public in the middle of the street where anyone could see (yeah, RIGHT.), then i guess they head off to the church to get married. back on the road, the wheel has been fixed, and Blabmu urges the driver to make all haste, no matter what happens to the wheel -- she HAS to get to San Diego.

Telenovela-World:     AVANCES for today (Tue 17 Apr) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-17-07 10:47 PDT

RECAP STATUS: as of 10.45a Pacific time today (Tuesday), LAI has still not posted the recap for Ep #45 (last Friday), never mind the recap for yesterday (#46). i'll keep checking.

     AVANCES FOR TODAY

TEASER: El inicio de un mal presagio...

     ¿Unión, separación o tragedia?

The beginning of a bad omen...

Union, separation, or tragedy? (well, this is a novela, so i'm figuring at the very least, separation. but we'll see.)

TITLE: Esmeralda fue víctima de una trampa. (Esme was the victim of a trap.) (and she fell right into it -- though to be fair, she did take at least a LITTLE convincing. you know, it's one thing to decide you can trust someone even though he's pretty much never been worthy of it before. but it's not like she was planning a surprise party for Diego or anything -- she SHOULD have told him what she was up to. but of course, we all know the reason she didn't: because Esme is determined to be the main person rescuing her mother --sure, the gypsies can help, but SHE has to be the star of the show-- and she knew he would try to stop her being involved. so that's why she could tell the gypsies, because she knew they wouldn't stop her leading the charge, but not the man she loves with all her heart, because she knew he would try to stop her --especially now he knows she's pregnant. and because i don't think she's ready to let Zorro "steal" her chance to shine in front of the mother she's never known. and i have to say, it's not one of Esme's more endearing characteristics...)

     DATE: Tuesday, 17 April 2007

     EP #47

-El Zorro le demostrará que no está sola.

Zorro will show her she's not alone. (yes, but will she learn? the jury's still out on that...)

-Sin embargo, se avecina el inicio de un mal presagio.

However, the start of a bad omen is looming. (LAI is really hung up on that word these days... maybe he's been watching too many thrillers?)

-Esmeralda insiste en salvar a su madre.

Esme insists on saving her mother. (see rant above. sometimes you just have to know when it's better to let others deal with something -- this is a lesson Esme clearly still has yet to take to heart. and i expect that everyone around he will be getting into trouble until she does learn it...)

-Y el destino las unirá... o las separará.

And destiny will unite [the women]... or separate them. (can't. this. Masked. Miracle. plot. be. over. with. already???!? Kooko usually has the patience of a housefly confronted with a nice new pile of poo -- why is he dragging this out?)

Telenovela-World:     RECAP for #47 (Tuesday) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-18-07 17:52 PDT

     RECAP FOR TUESDAY

TEASER: El inicio de un mal presagio...Nada es como parece. (The start of a bad omen... Nothing is as it appears to be.) (i don't know about that -- i think a lot is JUST as it appears to be. your problem, LAI, is that you persist in mistaking Rat Pecs for the hero, and it's confusing you.)

NEW TITLES: El rescate de Sara Kalí / Sara Kalí se escapa.. (The rescue of the Masked Miracle / The Masked Miracle escapes.) (except she doesn't escape. she is rescued. or helped to escape, if you prefer. but there IS a difference. do you even OWN a dictinonary, LAI, or are you just getting your new words from a word-a-day calendar...?)

     DATE: Tuesday, 17 April 2007

     EP #47

(for some reason i am unaware of,) Tinhorn Despot (in a ceremony in front of the assembled troops) demotes García from Sergeant to Private. (i wasn't aware that being demoted necessarily ALSO involved being locked up in a cell, but Tinhorn has such arbitrary ideas, who knows what he'll take it into his head to do next...? and it did give us a couple nice scenes -- one where García watches from the window --while standing on the bed, hee!-- as Zorro overpowers some of the guards outside and seems to be pleased about it all, and another where one of the soldiers who, after locking him up on Tinhorn's orders, apologizes to García for doing so. he calls him "Sargento," and when García reminds him that he's only a Private now, the soldier says, "You're still my Sergeant to me." awwwwwww.....) During this act of demotion, the gypsies enter the Callao prison and the soldiers don't notice. (LAI, please take note: "callao" is the NAME of the prison and thus should be capitalized. as to the rest, the gypsies sneak onto the roof (because the roof is the obvious way into the prison??) during the demotion ceremony, which they apparently do not recognize as such. as they cluster together next to a chimney or a wall or something, making a not-very-good attempt at "hiding" from the soldiers massed in the courtyard --who have but to look upwards to see them-- some of the gypsies notice that García has noticed them and worry that he's going to give them away, but Gleem recognizes García as the one who was nice to him when he was in prison on the false murder charges and says that García is his friend and won't give them away. ay, Gleem, there you go, making facile assumptions once again... that's going to get into trouble until you learn not to do it, since in point of fact, García had opened his mouth to say something to Tinhorn about the herd of gypsies on the roof, but luckily for them was forbidden to speak before he could utter more than a syllable or two. THEN Gleem and one or two others went to sneak into the prison. en route, they run into Zorro, who tells them where the Seeekret Door is so they can get in and out unnoticed, and also warns them not to return to their camp after they get the Masked Miracle, since that will be the first place Tinhorn and his soldiers will look. he instructs them to take her to some presumably isolated house where Bernardo and Esme are already waiting, and adds that Esme has a key to get the mask off. inside, Gleem and co overcome two guards and force their captives, at knifepoint, to take them to the Masked Miracle's cell. Hermes bravely tries to protect the Masked Miracle from these people he thinks have come to kill her until she assures him that they're gypsies from her tribe, there to rescue her. then follows an argument, because Gleem and the other boy gypsies don't want to take Hermes with them. the Masked Miracle pretty much has to pull the Queen Card to get them to do it. as a final touch, they chain the soldiers up to the shackles on the wall before locking the cell door and heading back out.) While they do this, Zorro takes care of [causing a distraction by] fighting while the gypsies free Masked. (the gypsies see that it's just him fighting all the soldiers and decide that since he is a friend to them, they should help. so some of the group leaves in a wagon, with the Masked Miracle (and Hermes?) hidden under a blanket, headed for Esme at the Isolated Location; i THINK some have gone back to the camp to report in and give the rest of the tribe a heads-up about the recent developments; and some of them stay on at the prison with the supposed intention of Helping Zorro, although if they were serious about that, their help has yet to manifest itself.)

-Los empleados de Alejandro interceden y logran salvar a Yumalay y a su amo de una muerte segura.

(Alerted by Dololes, who 'had a bad feeling,') Rat Pecs' employees (come running up in a mob to) intercede (in the boy indians' attempt to burn Yummy) and manage to save Yummy and their master from a certain death. (they didn't intercede fast enough to ensure that Rat Pecs keep his stupid shirt on, so we all had to be revolted by more Shirtless Rat Pecs, though. someone should post a warning at the start of the show that the episode contains content that will be disturbing to discriminating viewers -- yeesh! um, where was i...? oh, yeah, the "rescue." Yummy shows she's a true warrior princess: as soon as she is freed from the stake at which they were going to burn her, she runs to cling to Shirtless Rat Pecs instead of joining in the fray. anyway, after turning the tables on their would-be executioners, Rat Pecs, fortunately again clothed in his shirt --which magically managed to not become the least bit torn, dirty, or crumpled in being removed when he was overpowered trying to "save" Yummy, and with not a hair out of place-- and with his imaginary cape flying in his mind, Rat Pecs sends most of his employees back to "protect" the hacienda, but has a few stay on because they are going to go see White Buffalo the grandmother (as opposed to himself, even though he's something of a white buffalo, as previously commented) and White Buffalo will give the idiot boy indians what-for for their misguided behaviour. Rat Pecs' imaginary cape flaps angrily in the wind to emphasize this point.)

-Almudena detiene la boda de Fernando con María Pía, al decirle a ella que su hermano todavía está casado con Mercedes (Sara Kalí) y la mujer está viva.

(just as the priest is saying, "Well, even though i haven't called any Banns, i know the Man in the Moon better than i know the two of you but i'm still sure you're both elegible to be married, and since there's no-one here besides us, not even any witnesses even though witnesses are always required at church weddings, i guess i can dispense with asking if anyone has any objections to this union" (i may have added one or two things to his dialogue, but i know he MEANT to say all that), Blabmu belatedly arrives on the scene and) stops Peep's wedding to María Poopoo b y telling [María Poopoo] that her brother is still married to Mercedes (The Masked Miracle) and the woman is still alive. (who would have thought that four people constituted an uproar? but it sure did. Peep, needless to say, is furious. because, you know, it's All About Peep.)

-El negro Camba logra ayudar a Suplicios.

The black man Camba manages to help Sister Twisted. (LAI forgets to mention that the Cardidiot is still in town. he and Padre Tomás were hanging out in Sister Twisted's room even though she was there, tied to the bed. they're discussing her condition as if she weren't right there in the room, out of it or not. (when did she have another breakdown, by the way? the last time i saw her she seemed to be reasonably ok. well, ok for her.) Padre Tomás says that it's a shame María Poopoo has chosen this very time to be completely AWOL, because she was really the only person who could bring Sister Twisted to her senses. the Cardidiot says how the other nunnabes think Sister Twisted is possessed by the Devil and how maybe they should send an Express to the Vatican for a specialist in exorcisms, but Padre Tomás smacks the whole notion down as being ridiculous even as Sister Twisted, as if on cue, has a micro-mini episode. later, they leave her alone in her room, still tied to the bed, (yeah, RIGHT.) which is when Camba takes the opportunity to sneak back into the room. he's got some plants with him. he frees her hands and croons over her with the plants. Sister Twisted has a nice dream of herself, in mufti, dancing gaily along in the sunlight, and wakes to find Camba beside her, still crooning.)

-Olmos, que tiene a Mariángel raptada y desmayada, la besa mientras ella está inconsciente.

B.OB., who had kidnapped the unconscious Mugre (LAI says she's fainted, but we all know that's not true...), kisses her while she's still unconscious. (and again, LAI is leaving out the Essential Points: B.OB. carried Mugre to a carriage and was going to go off somewhere unspecified with her, but before he could leave he is annoyed to discover his Untrustworthy Associate hanging out in the bushes hear the carriage. he wants to know what UA is doing there and why he's not guarding Esme. UA whines about how Esme managed to beat him up and escape. B.OB. is mad, because this means he has to put Mugre back and not carry her off. he doesn't listen to UA's assurances that Esme can't ruin B.OB.'s plan anyway, because she is wounded and from the blood trail she left she was in the desert so she wouldn't be running into anyone anyway, but to our (and Diego's, if he should ever hear of it and have a sensible neuron left in his head) great disappointment, B.OB. is not reassured and he takes Mugre back and lays her down on her bed at Chez Rat Pecs. before he leaves, he gives her a kiss and tells her that she WILL be his, things have just been postponed.)

-Se forma un tumulto en la prisión del Callao, soldados contra el Zorro. En eso, llega Pizarro y dispara.

A fight starts at the Callao prison, the soldiers against Zorro. As this is happening, Pizza arrives and shoots. (AT ZORRO, LAI, you forgot to mention that part. and he hits Zorro, too, and Zorro falls down. ruh roh!!!!!)

Telenovela-World:     AVANCES for today (Wed 18 April) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-18-07 11:24 PDT

RECAP STATUS: i finished and posted the recap for last Friday #45 (here), and as LAI has finally posted the recap for Monday (#46), i will get to it when i can today. of course, so far, no sign of the recap for yesterday (#47), but at least LAI finally seems to be putting them up at a manageable rate for a change -- if he can't get them up in a super-timely fashion, then at least posting something daily is better than nothing for days, then several all at once. i'm not holding my breath it lasts, but maybe...

UPDATE - 6p Pacific: LAI got his rear in gear and also posted the recap for Tuesday (#47). both #46 and #47 are below in this thread. i can't help feeling this is a bad omen (heh) for tomorrow, though...

     AVANCES FOR TODAY

     TEASER: Separados por la tragedia.

     El futuro es incierto.

     Separated by tragedy.

The future is undertain. (ok, stop trying to wind us up, LAI: no matter how lame most of his writing is, we all know Zorro is the hero and Esme is the heroine. but thanks for the heads-up that they may be separated at least for a while...)

TITLE: Dolores presentía la maldad. (Dololes senses evil. (her Spidey senses have taken this long to finally kick in??)

     DATE: Wednesday, 18 April 2007

     EP #48

     -El Zorro está herido mortalmente.

Zorro is mortally wounded. (ouch!! but he's the hero, so he won't die. i say this only because i know some of us here are sensitive types and i want to reassure them so they don't worry themselves into a Decline before air time this evening. you know, a Public Service kind of thing...)

-Pizarro desata el caos en el pueblo de Los Ángeles.

Pizza unleashes chaos on the town of Los Angeles. ("unleash" being LAI's other new favorite vocabulary word (along with "loom")... and ok, not that i'm expecting Tinhorn to be against the whole idea of unleashing chaos and whatnot, but isn't he at least nominally in charge? or does he order Pizza to go unleash chaos?)

     -Justos pagarán por pecadores.

The righteous will pay for the sinners. (we HAVE Righteous in Los Angeles?? i'm just asking...)

-Por su parte, Fernando pierde los estribos y amenaza con hacer una locura.

For his part, Peep loses his temper and threatens to do something crazy. (as opposed to illegal? that should be a switch.)

Telenovela-World:     RECAP for yesterday (#48)  [USA, Wed. 4/18/07] Author: B. (---) Date:   04-19-07 19:03 PDT

     RECAP FOR WEDNESDAY

TEASER: Separados por la tragedia. El futuro es incierto. (Separated by tragedy. The future is uncertain.) (and again, LAI has clearly not been reading his scripts!! LAI, this is a NOVELA. we know how it will end. therefore, the future is NOT uncertain. i can't even give you points for trying on this one.)

NEW TITLES: Esmeralda recibe a su madre / Justos por pecadores. (Esme greets her mother / (VERY loosely) The innocent will suffer.) (LAI seems to be using some shorthand here, leaving out things like, oh, VERBS. there is a phrase in Spanish that is something like "pagan los justos por pecadores" that more or less translates as "the innocent pay for sinners," that LAI seems to be referencing here. yeesh, you'd think they take it out of his paycheck if he goes over a certain number of letters or something...)

     DATE: Wednesday, 18 April 2007

     EP #48

-El Zorro está herido y los gitanos salen a rescatarlo de las manos de los soldados. Logran escapar todos y el Zorro se marcha, tambaleante, hasta su cueva.

Zorro is hurt and the gypsies come to rescue him from the hands of the soldiers. (and there is that "hand" thing again!! LAI is obsessed!) They all manage to escape and Zorro heads off, stumbling, toward his Zat Cueva. (mind you, this is after refusing any help from the gypsies --who did offer it-- and after setting off some sort of fire thing as a distraction that the soldiers coudn't get around or see past to see him staggering away. it's a bit of a mystery to me how he managed to get onto Wheelie the Metrosexual Horse, but maybe along with all his other tricks, Wheelie also knows how to give Diego a "leg up" when he's nearly unconscious from blood loss...? he certainly understands being told to head for the Zat Cueva. speaking of the Zat Cueva, Wheelie does manage to get Zorro at least partway down the tunnel before Zorro gets or falls off, although since Wheelie had been so helpful earlier, it's a bit hard to understand why Wheelie wasn't around to take him the rest of the way into the Zat Cueva, undress him, and tuck him into that bed that's there before going off and letting himself into his stable and topping off the hay. oh, and putting out the gazillion candles on the way, since there seems to be little Wheelie can't do when he's around. anyway, with Wheelie mysteriously absent and no candles in sight, there is more dramatic staggering with much bumping into walls and leaving bloody marks before Zorro finally collapses from loss of blood. it looks like he hits his head on a rock as he lands, so there may be another Novela Cliché in the offing, the dreaded Amnesia Plot...)

-Esmeralda le quita la máscara de hierro a su madre.

Esme takes the duct tap-- i mean, IRON mask off her mother. (about. damn. time. i was so tired of that story. to her credit, Favela actually managed to make it seem she was oh-so-gently removing the mask so as not to hurt her mother, rather than oh-so-gingerly handling it so as not to accidentally fold the "iron." some stuff with the gypsies that LAI left out was how Bernardo was the one who met them outside the hideout. the gypsy who was in charge of getting the Masked Miracle and Hermes to safety --whose name i don't remember right now, maybe Javier?-- actually has half a working brain ABOVE his shoulders, he was initially suspicious of Bernardo until Bernardo gave him a note from Zorro explaining that Esme and Diego had solicited his help in freeing the Masked Miracle and that was why one of Diego's servants was helping out, and that Bernardo could be trusted. Bernardo makes Javier understand he is deaf as well as mute, but Javier asks if he can read lips, so he kindof takes charge of communications with Bernardo. later, when Gleem arrives, Javier maintains this position and more or less dismisses Gleem when he tries to give Bernardo orders (hee!). Gleem is so eager to impress upon the Unmasked Miracle his complete devotion and go-to-guyness --undoubtedly so that she will tell Esme to dump Diego and get together with the so-worthy Gleem!!-- that he goes to bust in on Esme and the Unmasked Miracle's reunion, but Javier also stops that, saying they should give the women a bit of alone time first. later, though, Gleem does get to go kneel reverently before UM and swear his undying fealty or some such. it was all just a bit nauseating, you know how Gleem is... and fortunately for Bernardo's cover as a "deaf" man, no-one notices his horrified expression when Gleem says that even though Zorro did get away from the soldiers, when he last saw him he was in a bad way and had probably died from his injuries by now.)

-Montero decide acabar con medio pueblo hasta que alguien entregue al Zorro.

Tinhorn Despot (strikes a lot of Very Dramatic Poses as he) decides to do away with half the town until someone hands over Zorro. (LAI doesn't mention that Tinhorn has a lot of things on his plate, to whit: 1.- his high-profile super-secret prisioner has escaped. now, not that he'd like that under pretty much any circumstances, but it's particularly bad right now because he's only just managed to convince the Viceroy that he HADN'T been holding the Masked Miracle prisioner and now if she's on the loose, there's a good chance the Viceroy will discover that Tinhorn totally played him, which will not mean good things for Tinhorn. 2.- the Masked Miracle's escape was undetected until the guards who were supposed to be OUTside the cell guarding it and its contents were instead found locked INside the cell in the places of her and Hermes. which means that whoever broke the prisoners out of the prison almost certainly had intelligence, military planning (Tinhorn dismisses the suggestion it could have been the gypsies who planned and executed the escape on the grounds that they're stupid rabble), and most importantly, inside information, which latter part he --reluctantly-- has come to believe must've been provided by Esme. 3.- this last belief is reinforced by the fact that Esme is still missing, and an intensive search has revealed no trace of her possible whereabouts. 4.- the gypsies are also missing, so clearly someone warned them to make themselves scarce once the Masked Miracle had been busted out. and 5.- Zorro made him look like an idiot. AGAIN. so basically, Tinhorn isn't having a great night. (in his cell, Private García was not at all upset to see Zorro and the gypsies making Tinhorn look like an idiot because they were running circles around his soldiers -- hee! and he was really sad when he learned of Zorro's likely death. ya gotta like García.) apparently, all this upset is giving poor widdle Tinhorn a headache that even Pizza's news that even though Zorro did manage to escape, it was only by a lucky accident since he is very badly wounded and bleeding all over the place and at this point has got to be dead managed to do much to alleviate. in addition to ordering that the town be torn apart until they found Zorro --and presumably either proved he was dead and punished whoever had been sheltering him, or finished off the job Pizza started-- Tinhorn has also, upon being informed that the de la Vega servants disclaim any and all knowledge of the whereabouts of either Rat Pecs or Diego, decided that both are accomplices of Esme and Zorro and as a result he can revert to his earlier plan of declaring the de la Vegas criminals so he can appropriate their properties for himself. now, the thought occurs to me that, if Tinhorn does decide to go through with this, this could be Kooko's way of laying a foundation for Rat Pecs to continue some sort of alliance with Peep at least temporarily (and reluctantly), at least for now, using one or more of these arguments: "if it happened to me, it could happen to you," or "your sister and daughter live here, so you need to help protect them from Tinhorn's lunatic and completely unjustified behaviour," or, from Peep, "i will help you against Tinhorn if you help me with your sister" (since Peep is just about desperate enough to try that), although knowing what he now knows, and with María Poopoo knowing what she now knows, i see any such alliance being fraught with reluctance on all sides.... alternatively, it could also be Kooko's excuse for keeping Mugre away from Diego and/or Blabmu from faithless Rat Pecs, by maybe having Peep or one/both of the women say it's too dangerous to stay on chez de la Vega and return to the dubious felicities and shelter of Peep's hovel...)

-Alejandro y Yumalay llegan donde Búfala Blanca. Ella confirma que Toypurnia (Regina) y Yumalay eran hermanas. También le dice que fue Fernando quien mató a la primera.

Rat Pecs and Yummy arrive at White Buffalo's camp. (Buffie and Rat Pecs greet each other like old friends who haven't seen each other in a long time, as indeed they haven't. Buffie clarifies that she did NOT send the nasty boy indians to kill Yummy, and that the whole Kill-Yummy plan was their own idea, and a pretty stupid one at that. she also grumbles a bit about how Yummy's brother Jako took Yummy off to raise her himself and filled Yummy's head with a bunch of nationalism and some dumb ideas about all white men are eeevil or something --i wasn't totally listening-- but it did make me wonder how involved Buffie and/or what remained of the tribe was in Yummy's upbringing. meanwhile, Yummy's attitude about Rat Pecs is almost proprietary. Buffie seems the sort to pick up on nuance (Kooko could use some lessons in that from her...) and i don't think she missed that there is definitely a vibe between her former son-in-law and... her young daughter Yummy, because even though Yummy doesn't say much if anything at all, and what she does say (if she says something, i don't really remember) is thoroughly innocuous, her attitude is definitely "he's my boyfriend, isn't he the neatest?!?" and you'd have to be blind and dense to miss it, and ol' Buffie doesn't seem to be either even if she does say she's about to "cross the river.") Buffie confirms that Regpurnia and Yummy are sisters. (LAI makes it sound like Rat Pecs asked, but he didn't. she pretty much says, "well, the reason they look so much allike is because, yes, Yummy IS Regpurnia's much younger sister." if she didn't know something was up between Rat Pecs and Yummy before, the guilty look on Rat Pecs' face would have said it all. Yummy also had a look on her face that i couldn't decide about, if it was shock --meaning she didn't know Regpurnia was her older sister (which seems a little hard to credit)-- or guilt of some kind. but really, they both would have had to be stupid not to figure out there had to be SOME relation between Regpurnia and Yummy. then again, they kinda are. stupid, i mean, so maybe i shouldn't be surprised.) [Buffie] also tells Rat Pecs that Peep was the one who killed Regpurnia. (Rat Pecs looks totally stunned at this news. but that's because he's been too busy lusting after Yummy aka The Ghost of Regpurnia and trying to keep Blabmu from finding out to be able to even count to one, never mind attempting far more complex calculations like putting two and two together...)

-Olmos revela la identidad de la persona que le encomendó matar a Sara Kalí: Se trata del Duque de Castellón, de España.

B.OB. (after being really snippy with the barmaid in the local tavern -- as if it's the barmaid's fault he had to put Mugre back!) reveals (to us viewers) the identity of the person who sent him to kill the Masked Miracle: it's the Duke of Castellón, from Spain. (because there are Dukes of Castellón in every country in the world, LAI?? geez!! get a clue! in other news, it seems that in spite of one part of his plan falling apart, B.OB. is nevertheless still confident that his Suborned Guard will come through on his part of the plan, and that the Masked Miracle is now dead. poor B.OB. he's in for a rude awakening, and it will probably be at the most inconvenient time possible. i wonder if he will somehow tell Peep that the Masked Miracle is dead and Peep in turn will use that to try to get María Poopoo to return to him...? hmmmm, maybe not.)

-En España, la reina planifica visitar la ciudad de Los Ángeles. Está muy preocupada por la presencia de Sara Kalí. Ella significaría un peligro para su corona.

In Spain, the Queen plans to visit Los Angeles. (because Queens just did that sort of thing back in those days. NOT. note to Kooko: there's not caring about reality, and being completely unrealistic. and having the Queen of Spain talking about going to visit a backwater town in one of their more distant colonies like she's going to Ibiza for the weekend is WAY beyond unrealistic. and no, it wasn't "enough" to have the Dook making a lame attempt to advise against it, either. try to have at least a LITTLE self-respect, wouldja? for our sakes, since you clearly don't have it for your own...!!?)

-Esmeralda se entera por su madre, que ellas son las herederas de la corona española.

(and in the ongoing Story That Lacks All Credulity Department,) Esme finds out from her mother (sigh, and again with the unnecessary comma, LAI!!) that they are heirs to the Spanish crown. (puh-leeze.)

-Fernando está aturdido y le pega a su hermana. En un arrebato de rabia, agarra un arma para quitarse la vida. Cuando María Pía lo trata de detener, el arma se dispara.

Peep is stunned (actually, "demented" is more the kind of word i would have used here) and he hits his sister. (of course, LAI hasn't bothered to give us the backstory here, he just jumps right in in the middle of Chapter 17 when yesterday we left off in Chapter 15. so here's what happened in the meantime: Peep breaks down the door to the room at the inn in San Diego where María Poopoo had changed her clothes before the wedding, nearly scaring the dress off the poor lady who got the room after María Poopoo checked out or left or whatever. he manhandles the lady, yelling at her wanting to know where María Poopoo was being hidden. naturally, Kooko doesn't explain how it is that Blabmu and María Poopoo managed to get so much of a head start on Peep that he couldn't have seen them driving off in the carriage or anything... really, there was a lot in the whole episode that made little or no sense whatsoever -- this was just one of the more major examples. i guess Kooko was so wrapped up in the "dramatic effect" of having Peep tear around San Diego like a deranged lunatic while Blabmu and María Poopoo make their getaway that he couldn't be bothered to realize even my cats could see this doesn't track in the least. whatever. anyway, after terrorizing San Diego for a while, Peep belatedly realizes that María Poopoo must be long gone by now, so he, too, heads back to Los Angeles and straight for his own hacienda (because even though Blabmu is married to Rat Pecs and doesn't know he's not at home right now, and even though María Poopoo is Rat Pecs' sister, of COURSE the place they would both naturally think of when they ask where they can find shelter is Peep's house!! see what i mean about this making NO. SENSE. whatsoever??). when he arrives, he immediately starts yelling for Blabmu. maybe the servants have learned to just find work to do somewhere way far away when he's in that kind of mood, because no-one at all showed up, which is also just ridiculous, because that kind of man and that kind of house has lots of servants. well, since we're in the plot that makes no sense whatsoever, naturally both Blabmu and María Poopoo are attempting to hide out in Blabmu's old room. but Peep isn't afraid of no barricaded doors!! he's busted them down before, and he does it again now. Blabmu tries to stop him dragging María Poopoo away by force, and he hits her hard enough to knock her out. now she's lying on the floor, unconscious. but does Peep care? no!! he drags María Poopoo off with him and back to the living room, where he first prevents María Poopoo from going to check on Blabmu and seems indifferent to whether or not she might be dying, then yells at María Poopoo for leaving him at the altar and insists that she marry him anyway. María Pía FINALLY gets her spine back and tells him that NOTHING could make her want anything to do with him again, EVER. she tries to leave, but he blocks her way. he's seen she really means it, but he still can't give up.) in a fit of rage, he grabs a gun (María Pía mock-applauds him and tells him he's just proving her point, and invites him to shoot her) and threatens to kill himself. When María Pía tries to take the gun from him, it goes off. (and it's not clear which of the two of them was hit. speculation, anyone...?)

 Telenovela-World:     AVANCES for today (Thu 19 Apr) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-19-07 10:49 PDT

RECAP STATUS: 4.30p Pacific - LAI has posted the recap for yesterday. i'll try to get it up in a little bit. if you can't wait, there is at least a partial summary for yesterday's ep a few threads down ... (by the way, if anyone is looking for my recaps from Monday and Tuesday's episodes, they are in this thread.)

     AVANCES FOR TODAY

     TEASER: Las traiciones se pagarán...

     ..Con sangre.

The betrayals will be paid for...

...with blood. (i think they're already being paid for in blood, don't you? i mean, we saw a great many shots of Zorro's blood all over the place, and that last scene with M'Peep sure looks as if blood will be involved there, too, so...)

TITLE: Por amor se ha sacrificado todo. (All has been sacrified for love.) (there's LAI trying to go all poetic on us again...)

     DATE: Thursday, 19 April 2007

     EP #49

-Las traiciones se pagarán con sangre.

(AND repeating himself...) The betrayals will be paid for with blood. (yaddah yaddah blood yaddah...)

-Montero busca a Diego y Alejandro de la Vega por todas partes.

Tinhorn Despot searches everywhere for Diego and Rat Pecs de la Vega. (really? EVERYwhere?? are you SURE, LAI?? has he looked under your desk? in your boss' liquor cabinet? in my recently-defrosted freezer? i think NOT!)

-Por su parte, Esmeralda recibe el consejo de una madre.

For her part, Esme receives a mother's advice. ("always be sure to wear clean underwear and to brush your teeth before you go to bed." or something.)

-Para ella, nada es más importante ahora, que ir con el hombre que ama y padre del hijo que espera.

For her, nothing is more important now (NO COMMA, LAI!!) than go with the man she loves and the father of the child she's expecting. (um, LAI, you ARE talking about Diesme, right? because you could be a bit more vague here.)

Telenovela-World:    RECAP for yesterday (#49)  [USA, Thurs. 4/19/07] Author: B. (---) Date:   04-20-07 17:20 PDT

     RECAP FOR THURSDAY

TEASER: Las traiciones se pagarán... ..Con sangre. (Betrayals will be paid for... with blood.) (yes, we know. the problem is, the people who are doing the betraying aren't the ones paying in blood so far.)

NEW TITLES: El Zorro pierde la memoria / Todos están en peligro...sobre todo El Zorro. (Zorro loses his memory / Everyone is in danger... especially Zorro.) (i started to disagree with that "everyone," until i remembered that even Tinhorn Despot is in danger, if The Wrong People find out he actually was hiding the Unmasked Miracle all along, and as if that weren't bad enough, now he's gone and let her escape. but i don't actually MIND his being in danger, so... as for Zorro, since his Aqua blood is clearly giving him miraculous healing powers, the only thing he's in danger from NOW is Yoda Tomás' meddling and/or possibly Mugre, if Diego reappears before he remembers she's actually a duplicitious and traitorous slut that he doesn't care for in the least.)

     DATE: Thursday, 19 April 2007

     EP #49

-Alejandro recibe a Yumalay como mujer, de parte de Búfala Blanca. Mientras eso sucede, él recibe noticias de que su hacienda ha sido confiscada por Montero.

Rat Pecs receives Yummy as his wife, given to him by Buffie. (and it may be a cultural thing to marry your wife's sister if your wife dies, but given that Rat Pecs and Yummy both completely failed to mention there's just a TEENSY impediment (well, her BODICES are teensy, at any rate) in that he's actually already married to someone else at this point, we viewers wish we hadn't eaten dinner yet.) While this happens, he receives news that his hacienda has been confiscated by Tinhorn Despot. (well, that's not STRICTLY true. Tinhorn was in the process of confiscating Rat Pecs' hacienda while Rat Pecs was smiling at Buffie and not telling her anything about his, um, other wife because he was waaaay too busy thinking about jumping Yummy again, only this time with official 'permission' to do so, to spare a thought in either of his brains for anything else. the next day, he and Yummy head back to the ranch. unlike her now-official man, Yummy does have a thought to spare for Blabmu. she's just trying to tell Rat Pecs that she gets it, she knows Blabmu is Rat Pecs' real wife and she just didn't say anything against Buffie's whole she's-yours-now thing because she didn't want to make trouble with the tribe and... Rat Pecs caresses her face to stop her saying more, but they are interrupted by one of the ranch hands racing over to give Rat Pecs the heads-up about the chaos at the hacienda during his absence. he doesn't mention that Pizza's guys were beating up the ranch hands and even trying to strongarm Dololes to get them to "talk" and tell where Rat Pecs and Diego were, and ultimately taking Dololes and several of the other employees off to be locked up in the prison --they just didn't want to believe that no-one at the ranch knew (even though the ranch hands that Rat Pecs sent back after they rescued him from the nasty boy indians should have at least known he was headed off somewhere and that Diego wasn't with him), and to admit that Rat Pecs and Diego were Zorro's accomplices. anyway, when Rat Pecs hears the news, he puts his Concerned Face on and makes his imaginary cape snap indignantly. oh, and back at the ranch, Mugre is still unconscious on her bed when a soldier storms the room to search it looking for Diego. since B.OB. apparently neglected to put a blanket over her or anything, she's just lying there, "naked" in her undies looking all sexy (if you discount her pointy knees) and stuff. the soldier stops to stare --ok, it's hard to blame him-- until Pizza comes in and tells him to get back to business. so the soldier makes a cursory "search" of the wardrobe (he opens the door and pretends to look inside before turning back to stare at Mugre some more) then rather reluctantly leaves the room to continue the search elsewhere. Pizza stays behind and looks at Mugre for a long moment, his face inscrutable, as usual. later Mugre finally comes to. she can't figure out how she ended up "naked" on her bed, and is shocked when she goes to the window and sees all the soldiers swarming around outside. much later in the episode, Mugre has gotten dressed. she has a confrontation with Tinhorn, who tells her there's a new sheriff in town. she is not pleased to learn that her husband has been declared a criminal and Chez Infidelity has been confiscated. Tinhorn suggests she might want to think about moving back to Peep's hovel.)

-María Pía resulta herida del disparo de Fernando. Éste la lleva al cirujano Agapito.

María Pía ends up wounded by Peep's gunshot. He takes her to Agapito the surgeon (and mortician! Agapito, who actually seems to be sober for a change, treats her, and then asks the frantic Peep if he knows any prayers. Peep essentially says that he and God aren't really on the best of terms, and becomes even more distraught when Agapito tells him he's done all he possibly can and whatever happens now is up to a higher authority. i wasn't really paying lots of attention, but i have the recollection that Agapito isn't overly sanguine (heh) about María Pía's chances for survival. Peep would seem to be out of options. he resorts to lamely insisting that María Pía CAN'T die -- she just CAN'T!! i guess he's forgotten her name's in the main titles, too.)

-Padre Tomás encuentra al Zorro tendido en el camino de su cueva y le cura la herida, quitándole una bala que recibió en el asalto de la prisión.

(after being wakened by an urgent alert from Zorro's magic medallion,) Yoda Tomás finds Zorro stretched out (and unconscious) in the tunnel leading to the Zat Cueva, and (after carrying him into the cave and putting him on ?the bed? ?a table?) he treats [Zorro's] wound, removing the bullet he received in the assault on the prison. (not much to say about this except who knew the medallion had magical properties like that, and where can i get me one? also, nice work on the part of the F/X department, who managed to make the bullet wound look suitably realistic -- as opposed to the makeup department, who were apparently unable to even give Zorro more than the tiniest cut on his temple --at least, i think that was supposed to be a tiny cut. maybe it was just dirt on my television screen though-- and not even a bruise or a hint of a bump. and even if there's no cut, there should be a bump and, later, a massive bruise (i speak from experience on this point). boo, makeup department!!)

-Montero y Pizarro toman la ciudad a la fuerza. Buscan a Fernando para comunicarle que las cosas han cambiado. Montero se propone tomar decisiones con mano de hierro, por encima del Gobernador.

Tinhorn Despot and Pizza take the city (now it's a city?? before it was a town!!) by force. They look for Peep to let him know that things have changed. (yeah, maybe just a tiny bit...) Tinhorn means to make decisions with an iron fist, going over the Governator's head. (and of course, since Peep was Otherwise Occuped with pacing around worrying about María Pía and all and no-one knew where he was apart from the surgeon and a few random soldiers he met on the way there, well, that just adds more fire to Tinhorn's determination to Take Complete Charge. LAI forgets to mention that Blabmu came to and went looking for Peep and María Pía. the servants, who were no-where to be seen the whole time Peep was in the place, all disclaimed any knowledge of Peep's whereabouts, though i think one of them mentioned she heard a gunshot. Blabmu ends up talking to Tinhorn when he storms Hovel Peep looking for the Governator, and though she heatedly refutes his "suggestions" that her faithless rat of a two-timing husband, his son, OR Peep --added to the list because a) he could not be found and b) Tinhorn noticed some fresh blood on the floor right in the middle of the room and Blabmu didn't rush to explain it (well, she didn't know how it got there, so how could she? but you can tell Tinhorn is perfectly willing to believe it's a Sign that Zorro was there.) could possibly be in league with Zorro or have anything to do with the escape of a "very important prisoner" from the jail, she is also forced to admit she doesn't know where any of them are, nor can she verify that Diego and his worthless father Rat Pecs are not together. she turns to head off for her new home, Chez Infidelity, until Tinhorn suggests that might not be such a good place to be, given that his men have appropriated the property since the de la Vegas are criminals on the run. nor does Blabmu help matters when she haughtily reveals that she knows perfectly well who the Very Important Prisoner is...)

-Esmeralda le preguna a su madre, quien fue su verdadero padre. Sara Kalí le contesta que fue un gitano, asesinado por Fernando. Sara le dice a su hija que el medallón que porta, vale una gran fortuna.

Esme asks her mother (and AGAIN with the extraneous commas, LAI!! will you NEVER learn?!?) who her real father was. the Unmasked Miracle (whose hair is undergoing an incredibly unrealistic transformation from an out-of-control frizz like you see in some hair product commercials to a smooth, shiny, wavy mane even though there isn't a comb or hairbrush in sight...) replies that it was a (handsome, smiling, happy) gypsy (who she loved deeply and who was) murdered by Peep. (which, get this, is why the Unmasked Miracle married Peep in the first place! because the best revenge is to marry the bad guy...?? as Jen Asha says, it's "EsMonte: The Prequel!")

-Le confirman a la reina de España que Olmos es un espía de la corona, a quien le pagan en oro.

(Dook Daniel --or whatever his name is in this show-- gets the Queen of Spain to sign another pay voucher for beaucoup pesos and) confirms [to her] that B.OB. is a spy for the crown, who gets paid in gold. (the queen seems a bit doubtful about paying B.OB. all this money. Dook Daniel informs her his guy --B.OB.-- is totally worth it. meanwhile, the guy in question --B.OB.-- is still sulking in the tavern, only now he's got more reason to be out of sorts: Untrustworthy Associate has joined him, and B.OB. wants him to go away. he says it's because he doesn't want UA to draw attention to him, and especially not to them being seen together, but really it's so he doesn't have to listen to UA repeat all his excuses about how it wasn't his fault that Esme got away and ruin B.OB.'s big sulk about having had to put Mugre back.)

-Diego despierta...pero ha perdido la memoria.

Diego wakes up... but he's lost his memory. (and apparently losing your memory gives you super Aqua powers, because even though he'd been "mortally" wounded, lost gallons of blood his body hasn't had anything like enough chance to replenish yet, has been further traumatized by the necessary but debilitating removal of the bullet, and has had a terrific if largely invisible blow to the head, Diego seemed to have little trouble leaping out of bed and running off trying to hide from this strange man. because, you know, anamnesiac's first response upon waking up in a nice bed is always to be convinced that people are trying to hurt you. or something. what. ever. i just hope that Kooko doesn't drag this tired plot out for too long, or manage to do too much (more) damage to the story...)

so now i can really only think of two things that LAI left out, though there's probably more and i just blocked it out. those two things are:

*we learn that Pizza, who has probably cloned himself since he seems to be popping up all over the place in this episode, managed to capture one of the gypsy men, and tortured him until he tells where the gypsy women are hiding. Pizza sends soldiers off and they round up the women and bring them back to the jail. (we don't see any of this -- we're just told about it.) as the women are being led through the courtyard, Pizza recognizes Dance Tramp and pulls her out of the line. he unties her hands and says that although all the other women are to be locked up, he is going to let her go -- FOR NOW. Dance Tramp accuses him of thinking she will lead him to the rest of the gypsies, but he says no. he's letting her go so she can go tell the others to return the prisoner they freed. if they return the prisoner, fine. if they don't return the prisoner, then he will recapture Dance Tramp and torture her to get the information he wants out of her. he wonders if she can stand up to the kind of treatment her late husband received from him before he died. Dance Tramp doesn't think twice: she turns and runs away. meanwhile, at the hideout with UA, Esme is not able to conceal how upset she is about Zorro's likely death, and Gleem notices and calls her on it. she manages to explain it away by saying that it's because Zorro is a good friend to the gypsies and she feels responsible because she asked him to get involved, and how everyone she's gotten into this has been hurt. later, Jonás arrives with the news about the gypsy who was captured and who gave up the location of the women (he doesn't know the Dance Tramp part yet, though), which doesn't improve anyone's mood.

*Bernardo's story, one part of which made me totally laugh out loud. when we start the episode, Bernardo's still stuck with the gypsies that are hiding out with UM and Esme. Bernardo is just as worried as Esme over the news about Zorro's wound, but since no-one's paying any attention to him (except Esme), he doesn't have to worry so much about being caught looking sad (although Bernardo is also one of the few in this novela smart enough to know that sometimes you have to exercise self-control). Esme invents an excuse to send him back to "Diego" and after she manages to convince the concerned gypsies to let him go unescorted (they're worried something might happen to him, since the countryside is supposedly swarming with soldiers looking for all the runaways. and where exactly did Tinhorn and Pizza get ALL these troops all of a sudden, anyway? no-one thinks to ask...). and actually, though they don't know it, the gypsies are right to be concerned: given the continued absence of both Diego and Rat Pecs, and their complete inability to learn anything about the whereabouts of de la Vegas from anyone else at Chez Infidelity, Tinhorn and Pizza have belatedly realized that Bernardo hasn't been around, either. Tinhorn orders Pizza to find Bernardo --who he knows is Rat Pecs' and Diego's confidential man-- and torture him until he writes down everything he knows. but back to Bernardo... on the way back to Chez Infidelity, Bernardo happens across two of Pizza's soldiers, who of course recognize him. i don't think they've gotten the memo yet about finding Bernardo to torture him, but neither are they total idiots. they immediately realize his value as a potential source of information and order him to dismount. Bernardo tries pretending he doesn't understand them, but they don't let him proceed, so he finally gets off his horse. he pulls out a coin from his pocket and holds it up invitingly. the men scoff and tell him they can't be bribed for so little. one advances to take the coin anyway, and Bernardo drops it as if by accident. the guy bends over to pick it up and Bernardo kicks him in the face. the soldier falls backwards onto his back. while Soldier #1 is trying to recover, Soldier #2 rushes Bernardo, who ducks and sortof flips the guy. Bernardo quickly moves to stand over him (standing on the soldier's coattails, which was a good move because it impeded the guy from being able to sit up easily -- hee!) and punches him in the face, hard, which knocks him out. then he deals with the other soldier in a similar fashion. with both soldiers unconscious on the ground, Bernardo retrieves his coin, puts it back in his pocket, dusts himself off, and walks over to collect his horse, who had calmly wandered over to graze by the side of the road (he needs to spend time with Wheelie the Metrosexual Marvel -- Wheelie would never have just wandered off until the action was over. he probably would have Attacked...). Bernardo heads straight for the Zat Cueva and arrives to find Yoda Tomás tending the still-unconscious Diego. Yoda T sends Bernardo off to get a tisane for Diego in the hopes that it will help him recover faster, once he wakes up. hopefully Bernardo doesn't get caught by the soldiers in the house, because if not, he can come back and alert Yoda T to everything that's going on (all Yoda T knows about right now is that UM got busted out of prision and Diegorro got shot)...

Telenovela-World:     AVANCES for today (Fri 20 April, where it's RAINING in LA!!) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-20-07 10:24 PDT

RECAP STATUS: for a change, LAI has already posted his recap for #49 (yesterday's ep). i'll get to it later. in the meantime...

     AVANCES FOR TODAY

TEASER: Diego no reconoce a nadie...

     ¿Habrá perdido la memoria?

Diego doesn't recognize anyone... ("anyone" right now being Yoda Tomás.)

Could he have lost his memory? (well, based on the way he was acting, as well as Kooko's fondness for tacky and overused novela clichés when he discovers he's written himself into a corner, plotwise, i'd say that's a distinct possibility.)

TITLE: Diego no está bien. (Diego is not well.) (hmmmm, i would have said it's us viewers who aren't well, but clearly LAI's mileage varies. and to be fair, he did look a little wild-eyed. but really, in spite of appearances, how "mortal" could that wound + the blood loss truly have been if Mr WhoAmI?? has enough strength left in him --regardless of how freaked out he may be-- to leap out of bed and go haring off all over the Zat Cueva...? even if they have --more or less-- established that Diego has Parkay Salomé's Aqua powers, that's just REALLY bad direction on someone's part.)

     DATE: Friday, 20 April 2007

     EP #50

-El amor de Diego y Esmeralda está amenazado.

Diego and Esme's love is threatened. (blah blah blah. and: not really. because this is a NOVELA -- haven't you been paying attention?? in novelas, Twoo Wuv ALways recognizes the beloved, even when they have amnesia.)

     -La muerte amenaza con separarlos.

Death threatens to separate them. (no it doesn't. LAI, weren't you paying ANY attention to the final scenes?? that might have looked like a nasty wound, and on a regular mortal type it would be. but Diego has Aqua blood and he's clearly bounced back already!! DEATH doesn't threaten to separate Diego and Esme (now, if you'd said it about Peep and María Pía, MAYbe you'd get us wound up a little bit, but...) -- AMNESIA does. at least for a while. and hopefully Kooko's impatience with drawing out plots will kick in again and this "amnesia" thing doesn't last past this episode or maybe Monday's. because really, Kooko, it is SOOOOOO overdone.)

-Las amenazas no se hacen esperar.

The threats don't waste any time. (ok, whatever. your threats don't scare me, LAI -- look! i'm not even fazed. so there!)

     -Y Montero quiere a Esmeralda viva...¡O muerta!

And Tinhorn Despot wants Esme alive... or dead! (and the big question here is: will Esme's ever-active sense of Noblesse Oblige kick in yet again and lead her to Sacrifice herself yet again, this time for the gypsies? and if she tries to, will Javier the Sensible be around to talk her out of it?? once can but hope.)

Telenovela-World:     LAI's RECAP for #50 (Friday) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-23-07 15:32 PDT

     RECAP FOR FRIDAY

TEASER: Un pueblo bajo tiranía absoluta. Nadie estará a salvo. (A town under absolute tyranny. (ok, now it's a town again??) / No-one will be safe.) (what? not even the tyrants? i hope so!)

NEW TITLES: Se acaban las esperanzas / Se necesita un milagro para que triunfe el amor. (loosely: Hope is gone / Love will need a miracle to triumph.) (maybe Kooko can get it from the same place he gets AN ATLAS. and a history book. just a little historical and geographic accuracy would be nice -- i don't think i'm aking for too much...)

     DATE: Friday, 20 April 2007

     EP #50

Esme accompanies her mother and plans to go away with her. (according to the avances, she still is planning to go with her...) However, things aren't so easy. (are they ever in a novela?? what exactly does Esme think she's starring in??) Tinhorn Despot and Pizza have offered a juicy reward for the head of the Unmasked Miracle and the bounty hunters are turning up from all over the place. ("two" apparently being LAI's idea of a horde....)

-Llega un exorcista al pueblo, a pedido del Cardenal, para ayudar a Suplicios.

An exorcist arrives in town, at the request of the Cardidiot, to help Sister Twisted. (ah, yes, someone else who fortuitously happened to be in Mexico City just when he was most needed. when is someone going to break it to Kooko that while Mexico City IS at least in the same hemisphere and even, according to some, the same continent, as is California, back in the day it would have taken over a week to travel from Mexico City to Los Angeles, NOT a day. apart from that, let the games begin... i wonder what the exorcist is REALLY there for...?)

-Fernando se entera del escape de Sara Kalí pero le resta importancia. Todas sus energías están puestas en que María Pía se salve.

Peep finds out about the Unmasked Miracle's escape (well, he found out because Tinhorn told him), but he doesn't give a damn. All his energy is focused on saving María Pía. (what remains to be seen if whether he can summon up enough energy to try to counter Tinhorn, at least a little. and will he try to help Rat Pecs even though now Rat Pecs is going to want his hide?)

-El Zorro ha perdido la memoria y Padre Tomás busca como ayudarlo pero sin buenos resultados. La ciudad de Los Ángeles ha perdido a su defensor.

Zorro has lost his memory and Yoda Tomás seeks to help him though without good results. (i think it's a bit early days to be calling Yoda T's efforts lacking, LAI...) The city (MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!) of Los Angeles has lost its protector. (well, except for the Hoodie Gang. plus, maybe this will be good for them, you know? because it's not good --or fair!-- to just sit back and expect your local superhero to come zooming to the rescue all the time. you gotta try to help yourself. and it sounds to me like Los Angeles hasn't really been doing much to help itself. i mean, i know Tinhorn's got the soldiers and all that, but still...)

-Caza-fortunas encuentran la carroza de Sara Kalí y Esmeralda.

Bounty hunters find the Unmasked Miracle and Esme's cart. (sigh. LAI is just hopeless... i don't even know where to start in listing what he left out of this. but fortunately, i don't have to, this time -- see below...)

SUMMARIES OF EPISODES FOR WEEK OF APRIL 16-20, 2007

Telenovela-World:   recap from lastnight  [USA, 4/18/07]   Author: Yaya (---)  Date:   04-19-07 07:50 PDT

hi there, I miss most of yesterday's episode, could some one write a mini recap?

-what did Pluma Blanca said to Alejandro? and is Yumali related to Regina?

-how did el Zorro escaped after being shooted?

-what did Almudena told MP at the church? that Fernando was married and that his wife is at the Callao?

     thanks in advance,

Yaya

Re: recap from lastnight Author: Jen Asha (---) Date:   04-19-07 08:27 PDT

Here goes (other foristas will fill in what I miss)

what did Pluma Blanca said to Alejandro? and is Yumali related to Regina?

Actually, White Buffalo, was happy to see Alejandro. She clarified that yes, she feels near death, but she didn't send Adriel after Yumalai to murder her. He realized when he heard her name, and as Yuma's grandmother, she and Regina were sisters. Buffalo referred to Regina as Toypurnia, and Yuma was shocked to realize Don Alejandro's wife was her big-big-big sister. They got to talking about old times - there are very few of the tribe left, and they hid themselves after all the matanzas, which is why Alejandro assumed for all those years that Regina's tribe had been wiped out. It's mostly women, with a few warrior men. Buffalo asked after Diego, who she knew as Tisha. Alejandro still misses the love of his life, of which Diego is the only reminder. I don't remember exactly how this went down, but in the context of talking about Yumalai and her brother Yaco, and their mission to kill the Man With Only One Eye, Buffalo let it slip that the Man was the same one to kill Regina. Buffalo was like, "What, you didn't know?"

-how did el Zorro escaped after being shooted?

Zorro, sent the Gypsies away to take care of SK, and went back into the prison (the door that Pizza had come out of) and found his way to some other inner chamber, through which he could still see to the outside. When the coast was clear, he stumbled out into the...courtyard, I think. A bit later, we see him slumped on Tornado, who must've been parked nearby, with his invisible shield.

-what did Almudena told MP at the church? that Fernando was married and that his wife is at the Callao?

She interrupted the wedding saying she was opposed - these two CANNOT marry each other. Almudena first tried to get out of saying anything, hoping Fernando would 'fess up...yeah, right. MP begged for an explanation. Almudena finally said that Fernando can't be married because his current wife, Mercedes, still lives. At that point, she gave no greater information, but I'm assuming she filled MP in on all the gory details in the 30-minute ride back from San Diego. So MP might know the whole imprisonment story. Maybe.

Telenovela-World:   Re: i missed it!!!  [USA, 4/20/07]  Author: Pascal (---)  Date:   04-20-07 22:38 PDT

Just unlurking because I understand your misery. I didn't see/catch everything, but here is what I remember (sorry, don't have all the nicknames down):

     - PT got Diego to calm down and sleep most of the episode.

     - Rat Pecs has decided to form his own army, with Yummy and Bernardo sneaking into the hacienda for weapons.

     - Someone is trying to exorcise the Nutty Nun (I think).

     - The gypsies run into bounty hunters? trying to sneak Esme & UM away. Esme has the brilliant idea of running off as bait, except the gypsies take them down after the distraction, so she runs off for nothing.

     - While looking for Esme, Gleam finds Laisha, who tells him about the kill the women plan. UM, showing her Esme genes again, is of course going to give herself up, making this whole rescue thing for naught.

     - Everyone, including MP, thinks she is going to die. Peep tells her he will leave her alone if she will just not die (yeah right). Almu convinces Peep to leave her with MP. Peep goes home to kill himself, which Mangle comes home to interrupt at the end.

     - Pizza, after getting some action with Cat, asks her husband to play Zorro so they can officially kill him I think. He then somehow manages to find Esme running through the woods at the end, so it looks like she is in big trouble Monday.

Telenovela-World:   Re: i missed it!!!  [USA, 4/20/07]  Author: B. (---)  Date:   04-21-07 00:13 PDT

some happenings, in no particular order (sorta summary for Friday, 20 April 2007, Ep #50):

*Diego still has amnesia. however, Yoda Tomás at least seems to have managed to make him stop trying to run away every time he comes to.

*María Pía isn't dead yet, but when she (briefly) recovered consciousness, she told Peep she was dying. Tinhorn Despot finally learned that Peep was at the surgeon's house and went to see him to tell him all about how this is their big opportunity to take over the town or something. Peep totally didn't care and told Tinhorn to go away. Tinhorn is stunned, but he goes away, thinking Peep is a complete fool -- how can you respect anyone who puts love over seizing power and getting rich? later, Blabmu shows up. she reiterates that the Unmasked Miracle --who is still Peep's wife, she reminds him-- has escaped, Tinhorn's terrorizing and taking over the town, everything is complete chaos, Esme is missing, María Pía is on the verge of death, and Peep's destroyed, and who is to blame for all of this? yes, Peep himself. there's nothing else he can do there, he has got to leave. Peep unhappily realizes she's right, and he heads off, leaving Blabmu there to look after María Pía.

*Dololes is sharing a jail cell with ex-Sargento, now-Private García. she's worrying and can't believe the accusations against her Diego, and she pretty much talks non-stop.

*Bernardo hooks up with Rat Pecs, Yummy, and the Random Ranchhand who told Rat Pecs and Yummy about how the soldiers have invaded Chez Infidelity. Bernardo confirms this account and adds that Dololes and some of the other employees have been carted off to jail. Rat Pecs sends Bernardo to infliltrate the house and bring back all the arms that are there so they can gather a force to take back the property (is he HIGH?? what makes him think the soldiers won't have appropriated any weapons they find to add to their armory??); Yummy volunteers to accompany Bernardo, since she's supposedly so stealthy. using a trick that would have made any soldier with even one working brain cell suspicious, Bernardo and Yummy manage to sneak past the guards and into the house, where they clearly split up for a while, because the next time we see Bernardo, he's making a quick visit to the Zat Cueva to check in with Yoda Tomás to see how Diego's doing. he fills Yoda T in on the latest news, which doesn't make Yoda T very happy. Yoda T returns the favor by telling Bernardo that Diego doesn't remember who he is. Yoda T assures Bernardo he will stay with Diego and take care of him until Diego is recovered. he will also send for the Hoodie Gang -- they're the only option left to him for now. he tells Bernardo to rejoin Rat Pecs and help him. later, and in spite of all the soldiers (i guess they're all standing guard outside the house, not inside?), either Yummy by herself or Yummy and Bernardo together have collected a huge bag full of weapons that Yummy got has slung over her shoulder (and that somehow isn't clinking) and they are now attempting to make their getaway back to rejoin Rat Pecs and RR.

*at some point before Yummy and Bernardo stage their raid, Mugre goes to leave Chez Infidelity and is stopped by the soldiers, who tell her they're under orders not to let anyone in OR out of the house, No Exceptions. well, of course, Mugre doesn't buy that for a second. after much snarking on her part, she pushes past the solders and goes back to Le Hovel Peep, looking for Blabmu or her father or anyone, but no-one answers her. finally a servant comes and tells her that her father's in his office, but he doesn't want to be disturbed. Mugre goes looking for him anyway, and walks in just in time to see Peep put a pistol to his head. "No!!" she screams, with genuine terror.

*Tinhorn Despot and Pizza Clone #84 decide to augment their forces looking for the Unmasked Miracle by getting bounty hunters on the case.

*the gypsies appear to have decided it's not safe to stay at the safehouse any longer. i wasn't paying attention but i think they decided to seek shelter at the mission with Yoda Tomás. Esme, the UM, and Hermes are all in the back of a covered wagon being driven by Gleem and Javier. Hermes apologizes to the UM: it seems when she originally told him, back in their cell, that she was the true heir to the Spanish Crown, he only pretended to believe her. but now he really believes her. the UM tells him she forgives him and says when she gets what's hers, she will make sure he is set for life or something. on the way to the mission, they are stopped by two of the bounty hunters, who don't believe Gleem's claim that his wife and child are asleep in the back and insist on searching inside the wagon. while Javier and Gleem are trying to argue with the bounty hunters, inside the wagon, Esme and the UM are also arguing. (i guess the cloth covering the wagon has got one-way soundproofing, since Esme, the UM, and Hermes can clearly hear what's going on outside the wagon, but somehow none of the people outside the wagon can hear them arguing inside even though they haven't lowered their voices at all... anyway, the UM wants to turn herself in -- she can't stand all the trouble her escape is causing, but Hermes and Esme veto that idea. Esme has realized that she and her mother have to split up after all (they'd discussed this earlier and Esme refused to be separated from the UM). "but it will only be for a little while!" she promises her mother. "i'll meet up with you at the mission!" she slips out of the wagon and soon, as she intended, is spotted running away by the bounty hunters just as she disappears over a nearby hill. Gleem and Javier take advantage of this momentary distraction to overpower the bounty hunters and knock them out. they tie them up and leave them lying in a field away from the path. then, after yet more argument amongst the four remaining fugitives, it is decided that Gleem will go after Esme while Javier continues --slowly-- on toward the mission. they will all meet up at pre-arranged location.

*an Exorcist approved by the Vatican "just happened" to be in Mexico City and was able to hasten to answer the Cardidiot's request for one (i thought he and Yoda Tomás had agreed they weren't going to get an exorcist??). the Cardidiot is dubious at first when the exorcist reveals that he is not an ordained priest, but he manages to convince the Cardidiot he is totally approved by the Church in spite of this defect. all he has to do is look into Sister Twisted's eyes and he will know if she is possessed; he's done battle with the Devil and if the Devil is in Sister Twisted, the Devil will recognize him and he will see that in her eyes.

*Sister Twisted is in her room. Camba is still stroking her hand and crooning to her, and she is happy and fine. but then the next time we see her, she's alone, which is just as well because here is the Cardidiot walking into her room with the exorcist. Sister Twisted jumps and cowers and looks a little crazed. the exorcist tells the Caridiot to pray and keep praying, no matter what. nervously, the Cardidiot starts praying as the exorcist walks over to Sister Twisted's bedside and puts back his hood. he looks a little crazed himself. he gives her this look. she gives him the same look back. the Cardidiot keeps praying. later the exorcist gathers all the nunnabes and tells them he needs their help. they go to get their rosaries.

*Pizza #47 is in bed with Cata, but Cata's not really being very responsive. none of the Pizzas are good at showing any emotion, let alone at being compassionate or caring, and #47 is no exception. in spite of this, he does seem more concerned about her than annoyed with her attitude. he stops what he's doing and asks what's wrong. she says that all the disruption in town is making her nervous and that it's not comfortable being the wife of a prisoner. No. 47 says in his usual flat way that if Tobobo is smart and plays along with his and Tinhorn's proposition, he will be released and in no time Cata will have her husband back and things will return to normal in Los Angeles. but if Tobobo is stupid... Cata doesn't look like she feels particuarly reassuared.

*Gleem doesn't catch up with Esme, but he does come across Dance Tramp, who is all frantic and frightened. he hugs her and soothes her. she tells him all about how she was captured with the rest of the gypsy women but Pizza #23 let her go so she could give the rest of the gypsies the message about returning the escaped prisoner. i guess Gleem realizes he's not going to catch up with his "princesa," or maybe he forgets about her altogether now that Dance Tramp --unlike Esme-- is willing to let him be all Manly and Protective. whatever his reasons, he apparently stops looking for Esme and he and Dance Tramp go to the rendezvous with Javier, the UM, and Hermes. there are other gypsies there as well. No. 23's message is repeated. the UM announces again that she's going to turn herself in: she won't be the cause of any more misery.

*Pizza #98 outlines Tinhorn's plan to Tobobo: Tobobo is to revive his Zorro impersonation with the aim of making Zorro's name Mud around town so that no-one will like him and they will all stop protecting him. Tobobo doesn't like the plan. he's worried that he'll get locked up again for pretending to be Zorro. No. 98 assures him that that won't happen. Tobobo worries that some soldier will mistake him for the real Zorro and shoot him. No. 98 states that all the soldiers have been warned so that won't happen. bottom line, #98 tells Tobobo: pretend to be Zorro and go free once Zorro's despised everywhere, or spend the rest of your life in jail. Tobobo looks like the penny is finally starting to drop.

*Esme hears some soldiers coming and quickly ducks behind some bushes. the soldiers are arguing amongst themselves. one is all for following orders even if he thinks they're stupid. another thinks there's no point in searching this far out in the middle of no-where, because no woman would be walking around there anyway. but there is Esme's shawl, caught on a bush, making it obvious that SOME woman, at some time, had been walking around out there in the middle of no-where. they make a token search for Esme but don't see her in her clever hiding place behind some bushes, then sit on their horses and talk about how Zorro's dead anyway. Esme is distressed. after the soldiers move off, Esme keeps running away. she's heading for the mission but is in a sort of forest when she trips and falls down. when she gets up, there is Pizza #62. ruh roh!!

TRANSLATIONS OF TELEMUNDO AVANCES & SUMMARIES –APRIL 23-27, 2007

Telenovela-World:     AVANCES for today (Mon 23 Apr) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-23-07 12:48 PDT

RECAP STATUS: i already did a recap for #50, which you can find here, and it's also worth checking out Pascal's short-but-sweet summary above mine in the same thread. and all this is just as well, because, AS USUAL, LAI has yet to post his recap. still, i'll keep an eye out for LAI's take on things and will post it when i can.

3.05p Pacific: LAI's recap is up. i'll get to work on it and post it later.

     AVANCES FOR TODAY

TEASER: Malas noticias para los justos.

     Se acabaron las esperanzas.

(loosely) Bad news for the good guys.

There is no more hope. (geez, that doesn't sound like much fun. well, unless you're Pizza or Tinhorn Despot or someone like that, maybe...)

TITLE: Este pueblo vive un verdadero infierno. (This town is living a true Hell.) (and we viewers are not?!?)

     DATE: Monday, 23 April 2007

     EP #51

-Esmeralda decide acompañar a su madre.

Esme decides to accompany her mother. (i'm wondering if LAI has got the right avances...? if he does, does this mean she got away from Pizza? because if she's captured --as the final scene from last Friday's episode, as well as the teaser for today, implied, then this might imply that she's escaped from Pizza. or not. we all know Esme's a bit delusional...)

-Por ella, pondrá en riesgo su vida.

For [her mother], she will put her life at risk. (she already has. she married Tinhorn Despot. but for her mother, is Esme willing to put our fortitude at risk?? she should think carefully about that...)

-Los mercenarios caza-recompenzas llegan de todas partes.

The bounty-hunting mercenaries arrive from all over. (who would have thought there were so many so close at hand?? then again, who would have thought there were cannibals or a jungle in Los Angeles, never mind that 200 years ago you could get to San Diego faster than you can today with airplanes, so...)

-¿Dónde está el defensor cuando más falta hace?

Where is the defender when he's most needed? (and here is where Pizza and Tinhorn can put their little plan into action. except hopefully the Hoodie Gang will take Zorbobo out of action before he has a chance to do much damage... or Bernardo could do it. he could TOTALLY take Tobobo.)

Telenovela-World:     RECAP for #51 (Monday) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-25-07 16:50 PDT

     RECAP FOR MONDAY

UPFRONT DISCLAIMER: i have this episode on tape but haven't been able to see more than a few minutes of it so far, so i can't fill in the many gaps LAI has surely left... if you see LAI's left out anything really important, please comment. and remember: this is MONDAY's episode. Tuesday's will be coming along shortly, and i was sortof watching last night, so...

     TEASER: (none posted)

NEW TITLES: Sara Kalí huye / Sara Kalí escapa pero Esmeralda no lo logra.(the Unmasked Miracle flees / the Unmasked Miracle escapes but Esme doesn't manage to.) (ok, it sounds even more awkward in English than in Spanish, but it sounds awkward in Spanish, too. whatever.)

     DATE: Monday, 23 April 2007

     EP #51

-Los soldados de Montero preparan una emboscada contra los acorralados gitanos.

Tinhorn Despot's soldiers prepare an ambush for the cornered gypsies. (since the Unmasked Miracle was still at liberty in yesterday's episode, i have to guess that not only were the gypsies successful at talking the UM out of turning herself in to Stop the Madness --as if it would!!-- but also that the ambush was less than successful... is it too much to hope the gypsies turned the tables on the soldiers? Javier, at least, is smart enough to do that. although i do remember seeing a thread that he got shot. hopefully, not fatally. Kooko needs to remember that those of us here with at least two working neurons do like to occasionally see a few characters that have nearly that many as well, or we feel left out and ignored...)

-El enviado del Cardenal se prepara para exorcisar a Suplicios con la ayuda de las hermanas.

The Cardidiot's envoy prepares to exorcise Sister Twisted with the help of the nunnabes. (well, BugEye isn't exactly the Cardidiot's envoy. he's more the Cardidiot's new support, since Yoda Tomás more or less smacked down the Cardidiot's suggestion of having an exorcist in to take care of Sister Twisted. and i still think we're going to learn that Sister Twisted and BugEye knew each other before their meeting now...)

-Alejandro decide enfrentar a los los soldados de Montero que han confiscado su hacienda.

Rat Pecs decides to confront Tinhorn's soldiers, who have confiscated his hacienda. (doesn't Rat Pecs find that the poncho gets in the way of his imaginary cape, though? also, isn't LAI rather forgetting to mention that Rat Pecs went to confront his former friend Peep and actual brother-in-law over the little matter of the murder of Regpurnia...? is it safe to assume he didn't find Peep, since Peep was still around in yesterday's episode to go all Penitent and Naked and so on? which i guess also means that Mugre managed to stop her father from shooting himself in the first place, so that he could survive to yesterday's episode, etc. but of course, LAI can't be bothered with these things. i wonder, did the Rat Pecs confrontation (or non-confrontation?) perhaps make Rat Pecs look less than Noble? or maybe LAI didn't recognize his precious Rat Pecs in his clever disguise as a campesino...??)

-Bernardo trata de ayudar a Diego a reconocerse.

Bernardo (using writing, since MIDiego doesn't understand his signing) tries to help Diego recognize himself. (which, according to a thread here, apparently led to the funniest line of the episode: MIDiego realizing that Diego is a complete imbecile. hee!)

-Esmeralda espera a Montero para que la ayude a salir de la cárcel. Las noticias que recibe de éste, no son las que ella esperaba.

(after she and Gleem were both captured by Pizza, and tossed into seperate but adjacent cells at the prison and the soldiers who "let" the UM escape sternly warned of their likely fate should there be a repeat with Esme and/or Gleem), Esme (stupidly) awaits [the arrival of] Tinhorn so he can help her get out of the cell. [However,] the news she receives from [her husband] are not what she expected. (although, really, if she had more than part of a working brain cell, she SHOULD have expected that at some point Tinhorn was going to catch on to her little game and stop believing every stupid story she tells him...)

Telenovela-World:     RECAP for #52 (last Tuesday) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-27-07 15:23 PDT

sorry this has taken so long!!

     RECAP FOR TUESDAY

TEASER: Malas noticias para los justos. Se acabaron las esperanzas. (loosely, Bad news for the good guys. All hope is gone.) (well, if all hope is gone, why should you expect us to keep watching?? get a grip, LAI!!)

NEW TITLES: Traición y renuncia / Fernando renuncia como Gobernador. (Betrayal and renunciation / Peep resigns as Governor.) (and loses his mind along with his clothing and jewels. hee!)

     DATE: Tuesday, 24 April 2007

     EP #52

-Bajo presiones de Montero, Fernando decide renunciar como Gobernador. Montero autoproclama un gobierno militar.

Under pressure from Tinhorn, Peep decides to resign as Governor. (except it seems like he pretty much had already decided to do that before Tinhorn sent his men to arrest Peep....) Tinhorn proclaims a military government (with him in charge, natch! and he's already rubbing his hands and counting his riches even before he's assured himself they're going to be his for the taking...)

-El poder está subiéndole a la cabeza a Montero y Pizarro lo resiente.

Power is going to Tinhorn's head (boy, is it ever!! Snidely Whiplash has NUTHIN' on him!!) and Pizza resents it. (i can't tell if Pizza is peeved at this turn of events because he's jealous, because it's ruining some Machievellian plan of his own, because it offends his sense of what a GOOD Eeevil Kommander is supposed to be like, or because he can clearly see it's going to make way more trouble for them both in the long run that will completely offset, in a bad way, any power in the shorter term... or maybe he is in lurve with his Comandante and doesn't like to see him running around like punch-drunk idiot...?)

-Suplicios empeora. Dentro de su estado, humilla al exorcista y da brincos en su cama.

Sister Twisted gets worse. (well, it's all relative. but she's doing a lot more straining at her bonds and screaming than before, that's for sure.) In her [mental] state, she humiliates the exorcist and leaps around in her bed. (well, as much as she can while tied to it. have i mentioned that Natasha is totally kicking ass in this part??)

-Fernando agradece a Dios que María Pía se recupera milagrosamente y ofrece ante el altar de la iglesia, todas sus pertenencias de valor y se va desnudo por el pueblo. La gente comenta que se volvió loco.

Peep thanks God for María Pía's miraculous recovery and, in front of the altar at the church, offers up all his valuable possessions (including every stitch of clothing he's wearing except his patch, which stays on his eye; i think he thinks of it as another appendage at this point...) and wanders naked around town. People remark that he's gone crazy. (well, he kinda has. and i thought i remembered he left all his jewelry and stuff at the altar. which means that the townsperson who started showing off what Peep left AT THE ALTER INSIDE THE CHURCH to the rest of the people in the market square apparently had little or no compunction about stealing from God. in which case, i can't really fault Mugre for doing her best to reclaim it all, except in that by shifting her attention to getting all of the "worldly goods" back from the greedy townspeople who stole it from the altar she managed to completely lose track of her wandering and completely out of it father, who she and/or B.OB. did finally manage to get covered by a poncho. did they pay for that poncho, by the way...?)

-Pizarro le ofrece a Esmeralda un trato: rescatar a su madre y llevarla a España para que reclame su poder a cambio de reconocimiento y venganza contra Montero. Esmeralda no confía en sus palabras.

Pizza offers Esme a deal: rescue her mother and take her to Spain so [the Unmasked Miracle] can reclaim her power, in exchange for recognition of Pizza (as in, of the help he gave the Unmasked Miracle and Esme) and vengeance against Tinhorn. (now that Tinhorn's gone all power-hungry-crazy, Pizza apparently totally doesn't want to know from Tinhorn. of course, his usual lack of expression is not giving anything away to Tinhorn. if Pizza IS sincere (as it were) about this 'betrayal' of his commanding officer, it will be interesting to see what happens when Tinhorn finally realizes this.) Esme doesn't trust his words. (or Pizza himself, although really, who could blame her? Gleem doesn't trust Pizza, either, but it's hard to put too much stock in that since Gleem wants so desperately to Make An Impression on his "princesa" so that she will fall into his arms saying "Gleem! Gleem!! i've been sooo foolish!! that Diego guy was nothing!! YOU are the ONLY man for me!!" that he basically discounts just about anyone with a plan that doesn't involve him playing the hero. idiot.)

-Diego se pone la máscara del Zorro y se va por el pueblo.

(after Bernardo and Yoda Tomás inexplicably leave MIDiego alone in the Zat Cueva, he starts snooping around. he talks to Wheelie without recongnizing him at all. he finds the Z-alert medallion but it must still be recharging because it doesn't zap his brains back OR alert Yoda Tomás that MIDiego is about to do something supremely stupid. he finds "Zorro's" clothing and wonders what kind of a moron dresses all in black --though that doesn't stop him from pulling on Zorro's shirt. then) [MIDiego] finds Zorro's mask and puts it on. (MIDiego asks himself why it makes him feel so empowered? showing clear signs of his completely diminished mental capacities, he doesn't put "shot in the back" + "mask" together and wonder if he might be some kind of bandit. nor does he question in any way the advisability of wandering around a now-unknown countryside wearing said mask, even though he's got to figure it can't be at all common for people to be wearing them. no.... he just goes over and gets Wheelie and heads off down the tunnel out of the Zat Cueva, with the idea of going) toward town.

Telenovela-World:     AVANCES for today (Wed 25th Apr) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-25-07 10:05 PDT

RECAP STATUS: 2p Pacific - LAI finally posted his recaps for #51 and 52. i hope to get both posted later today...

     AVANCES FOR TODAY

     TEASER: El Gobernador ha renunciado.

Un régimen militar toma su lugar.

     The Governator has resigned.

A military regime takes its place. (because, you know, that's the "natural" way of things. argh!)

TITLE: Fernando Sánchez de Moncada ha renunciado como Gobernador. (Peep Sánchez de Moncada has resigned as Governator.) (now let's see if anyone notices his absence, given he wasn't doing much as governor to start with...)

     DATE: Wednesday, 25 April 2007

     EP #53

-Ahora que Montero ha establecido un régimen militar, reina el terror en esta ciudad.

Now that Tinhorn Despot has established a military regime, terror reigns in this city. (LAI, are we back to this again?? there is a DIFFERENCE between a "city" and a "town" and a "village." make up your mind already!!)

-Y la única salida será la trampa.

And the only way out will be the trap. (huh??)

-Sobran las propuestas extrañas y Esmeralda no tiene confianza en nadie.

Strange propositions abound and Emse doesn't trust anyone. (well, she trusts Gleem, not that he can do a whole lot for her right now. Pizza proposition is intriguing, though. and i can totally see where he's coming from. Tinhorn is getting just a wee bit full of himself these days. but what i want to know is, since there apparently wasn't a governor before Peep showed up, how come Tinhorn --who clearly thinks he can get away with it-- never tried this on before...?)

-Para completar, Diego no tiene memoria y el amor está en peligro.

As if that weren't bad enough, Diego has no memory (yes, we KNOW that!) and love is in danger. (ok, let me get this straight, LAI: a military regime is bad, but love being in danger is really bad?? did someone make you take a seminar course in Novela Clichés for Avances Writers...? i think you need to ask for your money back...)

Telenovela-World:     RECAP for #53 (last Wednesday) Author: B. (---) Date:   04-29-07 23:38 PDT

again, sorry this took me so long to post...!!

     RECAP FOR WEDNESDAY

TEASER: Una propuesta de Pizarro...Y enfrentamientos de todo tipo. (A proposal from Pizza...(no, not THAT kind of proposal!!) And all sorts of confrontations) (well, maybe not ALL sorts. but certainly a variety of sorts, a number of them of the "I'll get you, my pretty!!" / "You don't scare ME!!" variety. you know, it's good a lot of the characters are too dumb to be as scared as they ought to be, because that way they keep following Pope, i.e., "For fools rush in where angels fear to tread." i'd figure Kooko's going all Literary on us, only i know all it is is him not wanting to overtax the few non-hackneyed neurons he has...)

NEW TITLES: Todos contra todos / Enfrentamientos. (Everyone against everyone / Confrontations.) (ahem. repetitious much, LAI...?)

     DATE: Wednesday, 25 April 2007

     EP #53

-Suplicios está recuperada pero sus demonios se mudan a otro cuerpo: al del fugitivo Camba.

Sister Untwisted is recovered but her demons (now it's more than one??) moved to another body: that of the fugitive Camba. (who now seems to be bonding with a very large white and yellow snake that i swear i've seen in at least one previous Kooko novela. i wonder if maybe he has it under contract...? but snake aside, since the exorcist supposedly knows this demon so well, how come he couldn't tell it jumped into someone else, and if he does know it jumped into someone else, why did he leave instead of sticking around to find it and get rid of it once and for all? after all, at the convent he has the whole Lehrer Choir of nunnabes as backup singer-- i mean, chanters. oh, well, i guess they had to have the exorcist leave town so he could come across the nearly-naked Peep wandering around on the road through the forest out of town...)

-Diego anda por el pueblo vestido de Zorro y hasta roba comida. Él no está conciente de lo que hace.

Mentally Impaired Diegorro is running around town (partially) dressed as Zorro and he even steals food. (i know Christian is good at action comedy and all, but i have to say that i do NOT like at all how MIDiegorro has been written. see Tuesday's recap for more of a rant on this. the more i see of MIDiegorro, the more i have trouble with the character and therefore the less humor i see in the situation. and so, for instance, i was not the least bit amused, but rather only disgusted, with the "Zorro" fight scene in Friday's episode. but i'm getting ahead of myself...) He isn't aware of what he does. (Kooko: did you do ANY research on amnesia at all??? forgetting who you are does NOT mean you don't know you're stealing when you're stealing, and that you don't know it's wrong. it MAY mean you don't necessarily care, but that's a whole 'nother story. and don't even TRY to excuse MIDiego doing something he knew perfectly well was wrong by saying that he "had" to because he was hungry (Bernardo was getting him food at the Zat Cueva. he was being petty deciding he didn't want to eat it, but that still means his "hunger" was self-induced because you were writing him as a petty and self-centered moron). or that he "had" to do it because the mask made him. that is C.R.A.P.! the sooner this MIDiegorro plot is over with, the better. of all the plots you've come up with, this is the lamest to date. and i'm including the cannibals in that list.)

-Esmeralda y Renzo aceptan la ayuda de Pizarro pero le exigen acompañarlo donde Sara Kalí.

Esme and Gleem accept the help of Pizza but they demand to accompany him [when he] goes to the Unmasked Miracle. (ok, i wasn't paying a lot of attention, but does this mean they're going to tell him where the UM actually IS?? and i note, LAI, you don't mention anything about how Pizza first praised the soldier who had done his bidding and who came to him before reporting to Tinhorn Despot, then killed him to make sure he wouldn't or couldn't be made to talk. or, how Tinhorn, like most power-crazed depots, is starting to see enemies under every rock and around every corner. or even right in front of them. even if he weren't now busily following his own agenda even though it means going against his commanding officer, the state of mind Tinhorn is in means that Pizza would probably soon find himself under suspicion regardless...)

-Tobías se viste como el Zorro, a petición de Pizarro, con el propósito de ir por el pueblo haciendo cosas malas y así hacer ver al enmascarado como un mounstro ante el pueblo.

Tobobo dresses up as Zorro, at Pizza's request (well, more a threat than a request, but ok...), with the proposition of going around town doing bad things and so make the masked man appear to be a monster to the people. (except that Toborro really don't know how to do truly Bad Things, i suspect, not to mention that nearly everything he does turns out wrong anyway, so while this plan might look good on paper, i suspect that's the only place it's going to look good.)

-Alejandro defiende su finca de los soldados y los vence.

Rat Pecs (all dressed up in his old uniform and with his invisible cape totally flying) defends his ranch from the soldiers and beats them. (well, he doesn't so much "defend" as "attack and reconquer," LAI. i guess you were too blinded by all that gold braid and noble posing, and then by worry when you saw your pwecious Rat Pecs' hair get all mussed and his face get carefully grimed "in battle" to noticed that in order to "defend" you have to actually HAVE the property first. and the soldiers had taken it over. so he attacked, beat the soldiers, and took it back. now, if the soldiers or anyone else attacks again, THEN he will be defending.)

-Tobías, vestido como el Zorro, se encuentra con Diego, vestido mas o menos igual.

Tobobo, dressed as Zorro, runs into MIDiegorro, dressed more or less the same. (uh, oh... Big Showdown of the Zorros on Friday... what. ever.)

Telenovela-World:     REMINDER: NO EPISODE TONIGHT (Thursday 26 April) BECAUSE OF THE BILLBOARDS.

     Telenovela-World:     AVANCES for Friday (27 Apr) + recap status update Author: B. (---) Date:   04-26-07 11:32 PDT

RECAP STATUS: i'll get to the recap for #52 (Tuesday) today. as for yesterday's recap (#53), as usual LAI has yet to post it. i'll keep checking....

     3.20p Pacific - LAI's recap for #53 is up -- i'll get to it when i'm done w/#52...

REMINDER: NO EPISODE TONIGHT (Thursday 26 April) BECAUSE OF THE BILLBOARDS.

     AVANCES FOR FRIDAY

TEASER: ¿El Zorro se enfrenta al Zorro?

Una trampa pondrá en juego la vida de Diego.

     Zorro confronts Zorro?

A trap will put Diego's life in danger. (yes, Mentally Impaired Diegorro is silly in a fun kind of way. but he's also COLOSSALLY stupid. and i'm having a hard time liking him because of that. not that i can completely blame him for being pissed off about not being told stuff, but at the same time, he is going to get himself and lots of other people into all kinds of trouble, all because he is being dense, pigheaded, and self-centered. anyone with even a grain of sense would know: people do not wear masks in the general way of things, unless they're bandits or something. and people generally don't get shot in the back unless they have serious enemies who want to hurt them. and if they ARE bandits, and/or if they have serious enemies who want to hurt them, sensible people don't just go wandering randomly around the countryside. Diego is smart enough to know that. Zorro, even in lurve, is smart enough to know that. but MIDiegorro clearly doesn't have even a grain of sense. hmmmm, i guess it was hurting Kooko's tiny brain to think of intelligent things for Diegorro to do and so, so he created MIDiegorro so he doesn't have to strain himself so much. now all we can do is hope that Kooko's lack of patience with just about anything means this won't be drawn out for too long, even if the comic possibilities would seem to be so great. there is a lot i can tolerate, but even though Zorro, classically, generally has a good dose of comic elements, it is NOT a comedy...)

TITLE: Un pueblo atormentado. (A tortured town.) (speaking of which, if things are in such an uproar and Tinhorn Despot is running around terrorizing and taking over the town and arbitrarily declaring people like the Governor and respected, well-established hacendados as criminals, what exactly was that Random Nice Family With Friends doing out having a picnic like everything is hunky dory in yesterday's episode??!? i mean, obviously they were there so that MIDiegorro could "attack" them (only because he was "hungry") and be seen running around, but really, that whole bit was a major WTF moment for me...)

     DATE: Friday, 27 April 2007

     EP #54

-Una trampa del destino amenaza la vida de Diego de la Vega.

A trap of destiny threatens the life of MIDiego de la Vega. (a trap of desinty?? puh-leeze!! more like a trap of Tinhorn, Kooko, and MIDiegorro's stupidity. spare. me.)

-Y para colmo, ahora son dos Zorros enfrentados uno contra el otro.

And as if that weren't enough, now there are two Zorros confronting each other. (and again, while i appreciate the comic and even, potentially, the dramatic possibilities, i hope that either Kooko has a really unexpected surprise in store for us OR, if he is planning to continue with stupid MIDiegorro the way he has been, that he doesn't drag the story out for too much longer...)

-Uno no tiene memoria. El otro no tiene conciencia.

One has no memory. the other has no conscience. (sounds Dramatic, LAI, but i'm not entirely sure i agree that Toborro has NO conscience. i think he HAS a conscience -- just not a whole lot of one, is all. you would have been better off saying, one is thickheaded and single-minded and in his right mind; the other is thickheaded and single-minded and NOT in his right mind. by the way, even though if i were Cata i would want to smack Toborro repeatedly by now, i did have to laugh at his calling her his "Gata miau miau" last night.)

-Las emociones crecen y la vida de muchos estará en peligro.

Emotions grow and the lives of many will be in danger. (oh, come. on. LAI!! be a little more vague, please!! yeesh!!!)

Telenovela-World:     RECAP for #54 (last Friday)  [USA, 4/27/07]  Author: B. (---)  Date:   05-02-07 12:55 PDT

     RECAP FOR FRIDAY

REMINDER: There was no episode last Thursday due to coverage of the Billboard Awards.

TEASER: Alejandro prepara la batalla. Montero también se alista. (Rat Pecs prepares for battle. Tinhorn Despot also gets ready.) (you know, the bad thing about this not getting posted until nearly a week later is that i'm hazy enough on things the day after, never mind days and days later...)

NEW TITLES: Mariángel juega con Diego / Sigue el engaño. (Mugre toys with Diego / The deception continues) (and the viewers continue to be alternately astonished at the thickheadedness of the supposed good guy team (that would be Yoda Tomás, who is oddly reluctant to tell Diego anything about Esme, and Bernardo, who is following Yoda T's lead), and revolted watching Mugre slither all over Mentally Impaired Diego in what she no doubt considers to be an irresistibly sexy way.)

     EP #54

-Matan al Rey de España y los peligros aumentan con todas las muertes, pero nadie sospecha del verdadero malechor.

They kill the King of Spain and the dangers increase with all the deaths, but nobody suspects the true evildoer. (the Spanish Inquisition!! NObody expects the Spa-- fine. i know. it's the Eeevil Duke of La Fea who's the true evildoer. apart from that, did i miss something? "all the deaths"?? is the death of the King considered to be more than one because of the Royal We thing? or are they adding in past deaths to the count for right now? can you tell i haven't been paying ANY attention to this plot? because i'm trying to figure out how the correct queenly response to "The King has been murdered" is "I'm still going to Faux Angeles." anyway, i was thinking about this a (very) little bit when a friend asked me a question about the ED of La Fea, and here's my completely unsubstantiated GUESS as to what is going on with him (remember: i base this on pretty much nothing, since i haven't been paying any attention to the Spain part of the story at all): ED of La Fea wants to be the King. years ago, he managed to dispose of everyone in the True Queen's family except the True Queen herself, who other enemies who just didn't want her dead managed to spirit away to Faux Angeles where she became the Masked Miracle. ED of La Fea plays a waiting game for going on twenty years as he works to find out where the MM has been hidden and, likely, puts other plans into motion so as to grow closer to Queenie-pie and become her trusted right-hand man, the one she considers indispensable and to whom she turns with any sort of problem or question. once his henchman B.OB. --financed by Queenie-pie herself, though from what i can tell, she was not aware of the true motives at work-- discovers the MM's whereabouts and asserts that he is in a position to dispose of her, ED of La Fea starts putting his final plan into action. he has the King killed, then --spoiler for last night's episode-- ensures the killer dies before he can be tortured into confessing who put him up to the regicide. now, here's where the TOTAL guesswork comes in: he wants to ensure that the UM is definitely dead, making Queenie-pie the legitimate queen pretty much be default. then he'll marry her, and, once she's produced an Heir, he'll have her disposed of in some way so that he then becomes the uncontested Regent, if not the King, depending upon how badly Kooko wants to mess with rules of succession...)

-Esmeralda se entera que Diego esta bien y que sabe que ella está encarcelada.

Esme finds out that Diego is fine (well, that he survived the bullet wound. she hasn't heard about the "mentally impaired" part yet) and that he knows she is imprisoned. (did MIDiego find this out on Friday? i thought he only just heard her name for the first time last night. my guess is that this is LAI's way of telling us that that's what Pizza told Esme and Gleem.)

-Mariángel juega con Diego haciéndolo creer que él está completamente enamorado de ella.

Mugre toys with MIDiego, making him believe that he's completely in lus-- i mean, in love with her. (well, trying to, at any rate. i couldn't watch, because really, it was just too revolting. plus, i still think that Yoda Tomás took a really huge risk returning MIDiego to Chez Infidelity at all at this point, let alone without 1.- completely filling MIDiego in on stuff he really needs to know, and 2.- without waiting for the magic WonderWound® spores in Faux Angeles to finish healing his wound. i mean, it's not like Yoda Tomás doesn't know that Diego was pretty much tricked into having to marry Mugre, so he has to figure that Mugre isn't going to let slip this golden opportunity to try to make sure there's no way Diego escapes her this time. given everything that's going on, and especially given how MIDiego isn't at all good at taking hints, following directions, picking up cues, and particuarly at remembering the role he's supposed to be playing, i would think it would have been far easier, safer, and MORE SENSIBLE to keep MIDiego hidden away from everyone he knows, at least until his wound heals. but Kooko couldn't have that, because it would have meant he'd have to find another way to separate Esme and Diego for that time leap forward i am nearly certain must be coming up, so he took the illogical but easy way out. and we all have to pay the consequences. watching Mugre "in action," i feel like Phoebe in "Friends," screaming "MY EYES!!! MY EYES!!!!!" and i hated that show.)

-Esmeralda sufre porque cree que Diego ya no la ama y no le importa su estado.

Esme suffers because she believes Diego doesn't love her any more and doesn't care about her situation. (and we suffer because Kooko was too lazy to find a better way to deal with this whole thing. so get in line, Esme!!!)

Telenovela-World:   Re: NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!  [USA, 4/27/07]  Author: Maris (---)  Date:   04-27-07 09:38 PDT

I think the main stories and the subplots are definitely being set up for some kind of time lapse. It makes sense.

Fernie went off to find God.

     MP needs time to recuperate.

Alehoundro wants to make his marriage work. Yumalai acts more like his love slave than the bitter other woman and she likes Almudena in spite of the circumstances so she won't blow him out of the water for now.

Esme needs to escape with her mother and go into hiding to have her baby in peace.

Diego has amnesia and Mangle needs the security she can get from him and his family more than ever.

Tinhorn Despot gets to play at being the ruler for awhile.

I really doubt Esme will be too angry at Diego. But his amnesia might make him unreachable emotionally to her for awhile and she knows how manipulative her sister is. She'll have to leave him and swear to come back or something.

     Etc, etc, etc...
