Sinopsis: Esta es la historia de Yolanda,
una mujer de origen humilde que se casó con
Javier, un hombre rico con el que tiene dos hijas adolescentes; de
Mónica quien vive la vergüenza de ser
la "Otra" mujer de un hombre casado y madre de un hijo ilegitimo; de
Diana, una mujer vanidosa y
egocéntrica, obsesionada por encontrar el secreto de la eterna juventud,
que está casada por interés con
Alejandro, un prominente abogado, y que le es infiel con Pablo, un gígolo; de Doña Cecilia, una mujer de
edad madura casada con Jorge, un político corrupto que se interesa por una joven estudiante de
turismo; y de Paola, una muchachita muy joven que vive en Veracruz, y que tendrá como pareja a un junior y
mujeriego llamado César, que a su vez,
es hijo de Doña Cecilia y Don Jorge. Todos ellos se moverán en un

Author: Tuly Date: 08-07-2000 08:47 Telemundo con `Betty la fea' y la cadena Univisión con `Mujeres engañadas' y `DKDA' pondrán al público televidente latino de todas edades a padecer mil dramas por episodios América Salinas Especial para la Opinión. .....Por la cadena Univisión en KMEX Canal 34, a partir de hoy llegarán a la pantalla chica las actuaciones de Laura León (Yolanda Duarte), Michelle Vieth (Paola), Sabine Moussier (Diana Lizárraga), Elsa Aguirre (Doña Cecilia), Andrés García (Javier Duarte), Arturo Peniche (Alejandro Lizárraga) y Kuno Becker (César). Todos ellos haciendo de las suyas en el tema recurrente de la infidelidad. Mujeres engañadas se proyectará en el horario de las 8:00 de la noche y narrará la vida de cuatro mujeres que engañan o son engañadas provocando graves problemas de pareja. Las protagonistas viven en un mismo edificio de departamentos y luego de conocerse y compartir algunas experiencias, se envolverán en una madeja de problemas tratando de encontrar la salida a sus conflictos. La serie intenta reflejar de una forma real la personalidad de cuatro mujeres de distintas edades y diferentes círculos sociales. Yolanda es una mujer de origen humilde que tuvo la fortuna de encontrar el amor al lado de Javier con quien tiene dos hijas adolescentes, sin embargo, su amor encuentra un obstáculo debido a la personalidad de su esposo. Diana es una joven obsesionada con encontrar el secreto de la eterna juventud; su esposo Alejandro es un exitoso abogado que ama a su pareja. Sin embargo, ella está a su lado por conveniencia pues al mismo tiempo vive una aventura con Pablo, un guapo vividor. Doña Cecilia es una señora que vive feliz casada con Jorge, un corrupto policía que comienza a involucrarse sentimentalmente con una estudiante, lo cual le traerá serios problemas en su vida matrimonial y laboral. Paola es una chica provinciana que está muy enamorada de César, con quien planea casarse y formar una familia feliz. Es así, como poco a poco comenzará a entretejerse la madeja de historias que tiene como tema principal el engaño entre las relaciones amorosas y el posible triunfo del amor.

USA 8/7-11/00. First week. At the market, Vicky tells Yolanda she has just learned that her husband has been unfaithful to her for two years. Yolanda can’t believe it; Javier has never betrayed her. Erasmo, the owner, doesn’t believe her. All men are unfaithful sooner or later. She doesn’t know that Javier has been deceiving her for years with Mónica, the mother of his son Javiercito. He does love Yolanda and doesn’t know why he began seeing another woman but he also loves Móncia and his son who doesn’t understand why he is so rarely around. Jessica is ashamed of her mother Yolanda and they have a huge fight when Yolanda sees her kissing her boyfriend Armando in his car. Her mother asks if they have had sex and Jessica says “yes” although they haven’t (they have talked about it). Yolanda tells Javier and says she feels guilty, she has never gotten along with Jessica and worries about the fact that she has never told her the truth, that she is not Javier’s daughter. Maria Rosa overhears and almost tells Jessica but doesn’t. Yolanda tells María Rosa that when she was 17, she went to work and met Ramiro, a man in his early 20’s. She was ingenuous and desperate to get away from her poor and abusive house. He left her when he learned she was pregnant. Javier is Maria Rosa’s real father but he has always loved Jessica equally. Maria Rosa promises not to tell her sister. Jessica confesses to her father that she and Armando have not have sex and apologizes to her mother. Yolanda learns that her father is dying and goes to visit him where she forgives him. Jessica overhears her father on the phone with Mónica and is suspicious, in spite of his explanations. Sebastian lusts after his step-daughter Paola who is engaged to Edmundo. Edmundo shows her the home he has bought for them and tries to make love to her but stops when she asks him to. Paola admits to her cousin that she doesn’t love Edmundo and is marrying him to get away from her stepfather but is sure that she will learn to love him. Alejandro has a nightmare that his son Carlitos is killed in a bike accident; he wakes up. He is married to Diana and has no child although he wants one. Diana has had a miscarriage and uses that as an excuse not to get pregnant again so soon. They have been married for 8 years. While shopping for a mink coat, she meets Pablo, an attractive young man and has coffee with him. She pretends to be single and tells her mother that she could be unfaithful to Alejandro whom she has never loved. She married him for his money and is tired of all the lies: the gifts, the notes, everything she has done to demonstrate a love that she does not feel. Her mother is worried; Alejandro has paid for the expensive apartment in which she lives. Her mother accuses her of having lost her baby on purpose because she didn’t take care of herself. Pablo is interested in Diana because she is beautiful and rich. Alejandro is completely deceived. He loves Diana very much. César is the rich and spoiled son of Jorge and Cecilia. He has many girlfriends and one of them, Adriana, has just told him that she is pregnant. He tells his father who promises to take care of matters. He is attracted to Jessica the first time he sees her and, similarly, to Paola the first time he sees her. Sr. Gutierrez tells Alejandro that he has received threats because of the fraud case that Alejandro is handling; he has decided to leave the country for a while and advises Alejandro to be careful. Maclovio is unhappy. It has been 2 years since his oldest son died. He is married to Concha, who works for Diana and Alejandro. She has always been sorry that she married him because she considers him to be a failure. They have several children. Ricardo and his friends rob an empty house and the police arrive.

La maestra de Javiercito advierte al papá que el niño necesita más atención.Ricardo va a la cárcel y Maclovio, su padre, pide a Alejandro Lizárraga que lo ayude. Jorge conoce a Ivette, quién le presenta un proyecto de desarrollo turístico.Javier se entera de la muerte de su hermano. César apuesta con Raúl a que puede conquistar a Paola. Javier comunica a Yolanda que su hermano se suicidó. El licenciado Manríquez avisa a Javier que hay una acusación de fraude en su contra.Yolanda y Javier encuentran anticonceptivos entre las cosas de Jéssica. César y Edmundo se enfrentan por Paola. Mónica tiene un reencuentro con un amor del pasado.
USA 8/14-18/00. Ricardo is arrested. Roberto loses all the money his brother gave him and commits suicide. Jorge feels old, tells Pastraño that he has been faithful for 30 years. Pastraño tells him he needs an adventure. That day, he meets a beautiful young woman, Ivette who is trying to get the government interested in a project. At the beauty parlor, Cecilia reads an article about infidelity to Diana. César is not happy with the model hired to start in the promotional advertising he is working on. He sees Paola, introduces himself, and convinces her to do the advertising shoot. Maclovio asks for, and gets, Alejandro’s help with Ricardo. Diana gets a new look: hairdo, clothes, etc. Paola is a success in the ad. Javier learns that not only is he bankrupt but he may be accused of fraud. Paola and César have lunch; ? sees them and tells Edmundo who confronts Paola. At first she lies then tells the truth and begs forgiveness. Ivette visits Mónica and they talk. Ivette says that she is tired of having doors closed in her face, that she is ready to do whatever it takes to get ahead. She asks Mónica why she continues to put up with Javier, tells her it isn’t fair to her son. But Mónica says that she loves Javier and he is a good father. Lupita, a neighbor of Maclovio and Concha is interested in him. Alejandro tells Concha that there will be no bail for Ricardo: he was found with the stolen goods in his hands. Cecilia tells Jorge about the man she saw Diana with. Yolanda walks in on Jessica and Maria Ruth: Jessica is holding birth control pills. Both Yolanda and Javier talk to Jessica about sex, that it should be between a man and a woman, that she is too young, etc. Finally, Jessica says that she won’t have sex with Armando but, to herself thinks only that she will have to be more careful in the future. Adriana confronts César; he tells her he never loved her. Both Mónica and Yolanda offer their savings to Javier. At the funeral, a priest arrives. It is Francisco, Javier’s other brother.

Diario de Yucatan, 11/7/99: Unos tipos amenazan a Alejandro con hacerle daño a Diana. Doña Cecilia encuentra a Ivette en la oficina de su marido. Diana se encuentra con Pablo, quien decide llevarla a Acapulco. Esteban dice a Mónica que la sigue amando. En el velorio de Roberto, doña Catalina hace evidente su desprecio por Yolanda. Javier y Francisco se tratan fríamente porque compraten un secreto "terrible" del pasado. Mónica cuenta a Esteban que tiene un hijo con Javier. Mónica presenta a Esteban con Javier y Yolanda. Casilda comenta a Paola que Edmundo es quien los mantiene. Ivette pide a don Jorge que la contrate como su asesora. Alejandro está preocupado por Diana, mientras ella está en Acapulco. Alejandro hace un préstamo a Maclovio para que vea a su hijo en la cárcel. César regresa a Veracruz. Mónica advierte a Javier que no está contenta con "las migajas" de su amor y le propone que se separen. Heriberta, Concepción y Maclovio discuten; él, enojado, se va con Guadalupe. Mónica advierte a Javier que si no deja a Yolanda, el pequeño Javier sabrá que no están casados. Diana llama a Alejandro para avisarle que se quedará a dormir con su mamá. Diana siente una preocupación que después se disuelve porque está feliz con Pablo. Ivette insiste en pedirle trabajo a Jorge. Lupe aconseja a Maclovio que no deje que Concepción "lo haga menos". Don Jorge pasa por Ivette para llevarla a un desayuno de negocios en Acapulco. Pablo y Diana se encuentran frente a don Jorge e Ivette. Mónica solicita trabajo a Alejandro, quien le comenta que conoce a Javier desde la Universidad. Ricardo confiesa a su padre que sí cometió el robo por el que está preso. Catalina ignora las condolecias de Yolanda y le dice frente a Javier que nunca la aceptará. En Acapulco, Jorge alquila una suite para Ivette. Ella lo invita a pasar.
USA, 8/21-25/00. Cesar confronts Paola on the street; Adriana arrives and tells her she is expecting his child. At the funeral, Yolanda tries to make peace with Catalina but fails. Francisco tells Javier that in spite of his being a priest, he still hates him. César and his parents argue about Paola. Cecilia has never approved of any of his girlfriends. Jorge is furious when he discovers that she won’t be available for the rest of the campaing. Paola confesses to her priest that she doesn’t love Edmundo. Mónica runs into Esteban, her old fiancée. He confides to her that he married only to forget her and is now divorced. Mónica tells him that she is still with the man that she left him for and has a son but isn’t married because he is. Outside the funeral home, Javier sees Mónica and Esteban and he and Yolanda greet them. Men come to Alejandro’s office and threaten him and his wife if he continues with the lawsuit. Alejandro is worried when he can’t get in contact with his wife but she, unknown to him, has been taken by Pablo to Acapulco. Javier insists that Francisco give him confession as a priest; Francisco does and javier admits his infidelity. In Acapulco, Pablo overhears Diana on the phone with Alejandro. Jorge goes out with Ivette. Mónica gives Javier an ultimatum: leave Yolanda or leave her. She, a lawyer, asks Alejandro for a job and she tells him about Javier who turns out to be an old friend with whom he has lost touch. Adriana goes dancing and agrees to be Raúl’s novia so she can stay close to César. Cesar goes to Paola’s house to try to change her mind; Edmundo arrives. César and Edmundo fight. Mónica goes to Alejandro’s office, he discovers that she has been working for an old friend, Javier. He offers her a job and calls Javier to talk to him about a position in his office. Javier and Yolanda visit his mother Catalina; Yolanda tries again to make peace but it is no good. Catalina hates her. Javier defends his wife.

11/14/99: Ivette luce su bikini frente a don Jorge. César está dispuesto a
evitar que Paola se case. Pablo espía a Diana. Edmundo descubre que Paola no lo
ama. Javier y Yolanda venden su casa. Edmundo le dice a César que no se casará
con Paola. Yolanda y Javier hablan con Armando sobre Jessica. Edmundo ahoga sus
penas en el alcohol. Florinda le recomienda a doña Cecilia que le aplique un
test a don Jorge para descubrir qué le pasa. En busca de Javier, Mónica habla
con Yolanda y le dice que tiene un hijo.
Diario de
Yucatan, 11/14/99: Jorge y Diana se pusieron de acuerdo para ocultar que
andaban en Acapulco con sus respectivos amantes, pero Cecilia nota sus miradas
cómplices. Le hace a Jorge el examen de la infidelidad y él manifiesta
culpabilidad. César sugiere que Casilda acompañe a Paola a México. Francisco
aconseja a Jéssica que se cuide del Sida e investigue la vida de su novio.
Javier reclama a Catalina por insultar a su esposa. La abuela responde que
Yolanda es una ignorante. Cata permite que Jéssica salga con Armando, porque es
de "buena familia. El pretendiente prepara una noche muy "amorosa"
a la joven, pero a la mera hora la niña se espanta, el joven se enfurece y la
quiere forzar. Ella le pega con un cenicero en la cabeza y sale corriendo.
Javier descubre que su hija tiene un golpe en la cara
USA 8/28-9/1/00. Javier and Yolanda sell the house. Alejandro offers Javier a job. Edmundo overhears Paola’s mother telling her stepfather that it is his fault she is marrying without love. Paola admits it to him. César sees him alone in a park and Edmundo tells him that Paola is free. On the beach, Jorge tells Ivette he would like her to become his assistant. She is thrilled. Pablo follows Diana and sees her meet and kiss Alejandro. Cecilia suspects that somthing is wrong. Javier and Yolando talk with Armando who swears that he loves Jessica and would never do anything to hurt her. César takes flowers to Paola’s house; the stepfather notices his expensive watch. Pablo questions Maclovio about Diana and gets him to say that she is married. Edmundo’s father is worried when he discovers that Edmundo is calling Ramón to tell him what happened. Edmundo gets drunk. César wines and dines Paola, says that Adriana told him she was taking pills and got pregnant just to trap him, that he doesn’t love her. Paola, a bit tipsy, seems to believe him. Cecilia goes out with Diana’s mother and tells her of her worries. Javier visits Alejandro and they talk of old times. Jorge kisses Ivette in her room. She acts shocked and disillusioned and he begs her forgiveness; she knows she has him where she wants him. Pablo tells Sergio that Diana is different, he’s never felt like this before. Maclovio tells Diana and her mother Florinda that a young man was asking about her. She tells her mother it must have been Pablo. Concha overhears Florinda call him her amante. Javier starts working with Alejandro. Somehow, Mónica and Yolanda end up talking on the phone and Mónica realizes that she doesn’t know she has a son. She goes to the office and complains to Javier; she had to make up a lie on the spot because she didn’t know Javier told Yolanda that she was single. She threatens him again to make a decision, they kiss, she leaves the office. Alejandro notices her behavior and confronts Javier who tells him the whole story. Diana and Pablo meet, she admits she is married, they make love again. When she returns home, her mother is drunk, calls her a cualquiera, admits that her father left him because she cheated on him and didn’t realize how much she loved him until she was gone. Diana is shocked. Pastrana warns Jorge to treat his wife with consideration or she will suspect. Jessica tells her grandmother about her mother finding the pills. She is shocked and goes to Yolanda’s home, tells her she didn’t raise Jessica properly, argues with Yolanda, then tells Jessica that her mother with pregnant before she married her father. Jessica calls her mother a liar and goes to live with her grandmother. A man turns up in a lawyer’s office; he wants him to find somebody, a Yolanda ?. He isn’t interested in her but in his daughter. Edmundo asks Paola to marry him; he is sure he can make her happy. She refuses. Diana and Alejandro visit Jorge and Cecilia. While their spouses are out of the room, Diana tells Jorge not to tell Alejandro about their meeting in Acapulco or she will tell Cecilia about Ivette. Catalina lets Jessica go out with Armando after learning his last name. Javier arrives and tells her she had no right to insult his wife, tell his daughter the truth, or take her home. When he learns that Jessica has gone out, he tells her that she isn’t doing this to help Jessica but to hurt Yolanda. Jessica arrives at Armando’s house, ready for her first night of love. But as he kisses her on the bed, she recalls the words of her parents and changes her mind. Armando tells her it is too late, he is tired of waiting. They struggle. She hits him over the head with an ashtray or something, runs out of the house, back to her grandmother’s where she runs into her father’s arms.

USA 9/4-8/00. Javier and Mónica argue. Jessica has a nightmare that Armando is dead. Paola, her mother and César go to México. Concha finds Maclovio with ?. They talk. He tells her he can’t take the insults anymore. She tells him she really does love him. He tells her he doesn’t know; he is going to leave her. She goes on the tv show Mujeres Engañadas and tells him she will win him back. Jessica calls Maria Rosa and tells her what happened. Catalina overhears, goes with her chauffeur to Armando’s home, wakes him up, threatens him with jail for attempted rape. His mother arrives later and he confesses, honestly, what happened. She decides they should leave immediately for New York where his father is on business. Ramiro tells Elena/Alina? that since his wife and son died, he has had only one desire: to find the daughter Yolanda gave birth to. César sees Ivette hugging his father, later introduces Paola and her mother to his father. Then he demands to know who Ivette is and why she has an office next door. His father doesn’t really answer, just gets angry. César visits Ivette’s office and warns her that his father is married and he won’t stand for his mother being hurt. Afterwards, she seems interested in him. Yolanda meets Mónica in a grocery store and introduces herself to Javier. Mónica dashes away after Javierito tells Yolanda that his father’s name if Javier. Mónica and Ivette talk. Ivette is happy because she will be making a presentation to an important person. Little does she know that the jealous Pastrana has just wiped out her presentation. Javier and Alejandro talk honestly about their lives and their pasts; Alejandro is deeply grateful for all the help Javier gave him in the beginning. Yolanda visits Jessica and finds her crying but Jessica refuses to talk to her. César takes Paola and her mother to meet his mother who, on seeing them, says to herself that she knew the girl would be common. Diana and Pablo take a motorboat ride together. Florinda gets drunk again. Yolanda asks Javier about Mónica and he tells her that Mónica is a bit crazy: she lies and doesn’t know that she is lying. Diana tells Pablo she won’t divorce Alejandro. Edmundo gets drunk again, drives, is in a terrible accident. Maclovio and Concha reconcile. Lupita (Guadalupe) tells Maclovio she will fight for him. Ivette tells Jorge how César behaved. Right before it is time to give her presentation, Ivette finds that it has been erased but has a backup. It is a big success. Adriana and Jessica discuss Armando and César. Jessica learns that Armando has slept with half the girls in the school. Adriana admits that she got pregnant on purpose and is using Raúl to stay near César. Pablo plots a way to end Diana’s marriage.
USA 9/11-15/00. Adriana learns that Paola is in Mexico. Diana meets Javier and is attracted to him. Móncia tries to use Esteban to make Javier jealous. Pablo sends a tape of him and Diana to Alejandro and tells Alejandro to go to a penthouse at a certain time. César sees his father and Ivette kissing in a restaurant. The two talk, Jorge tells his son that he can no longer stand to be with his wife, that he has a right to his own happiness. César agrees to keep quiet. Javier goes to his mother’s house, learns from her what happened to Jessica, takes Jessica away, tries to see Armando and learns that he and his mother have left the country. Jessica returns home, they tell Yolanda what happened. Jessica and Yolanda embrace. Adriana visits Paola and slaps her. Alejandro watches the tape, goes to the hotel room where Diana and Pablo are making love, sees them, walks out the door, goes home, drinks and calls Javier who comes over. When Diana arrives and wants to know what happened, Alejandro hits her repeatedly and viciously while Javier just stands by and looks. Diana realizes that it must have been Pablo who told Alejandro. For some reason, she goes to Cecilia for comfort, tells her the truth, and spends the night. Paola tells César about Adriana. César talks to his mother: she doesn’t approve of Paola who has never gone to college or wanted anything in life except to be a wife and mother. She also agrees that César has an obligation to his child. Concha tells her mother to behave differently toward Maclovio or leave. Maclovio returns home and she is super sweet to him. César tells Adriana that he will support the baby. Alejandro and Javier visit Pablo. Alejandro beats him so badly he ends up in the hospital. Alejandro tells Javier that he will destroy Diana and Pablo. Casasuelo finds Jessica’s address for her father but when he arrives at the house, the family has left for their new apartment. Jorge doesn’t want Diana to stay in his apartment but agrees when she reminds him that she knows about his lover. César gives Paola a ring. Jorge buys tons of exercise equipment. Sergio visits Pablo in the hospital. Ramón visits Edmundo in the hospital.

Jéssica e inventa que Ramiro es su pretendiente. Este último está dispuesto a
ganar el cariño de su hija.Lucy confiesa a Alejandro que se siente fascinada
por él. Jorge esconde a Ivette en el baño para que no la descubra Cecilia.
Paola acepta casarse con César. Javierito pide a Javier que se quede a dormir
en su casa y él acepta.Alejandro Lizárraga sale con Lucy. Esteban visita a
Mónica y la encuentra con Javier. Don Jorge avisa a Maclovio que su hijo saldrá
de la cárcel. Doña Cecilia amenaza a César con dejarlo sin apoyo económico si
se casa con Paola.Alejandro y Lucy van a un hotel. Alejandro advierte a Javier
que Yolanda puede descubrir su relación con Mónica, pero él asegura que eso
nunca pasará. María Rosa avisa a Javier que Ramiro le dijo toda la verdad a
Jéssica. Diana visita a doña Cecilia. Pablo sale del hospital. Javier acepta
ante Jéssica que Ramiro es su padre

9/18-22/00. César and Paola become novios. Diana visits Pablo in the hospital
and agrees to move in with him if he pays for her mother’s apartment, her
credit cards, etc. He agrees. Jorge tells Alejandro that he is obsessed with
Ivette. Alejandro tries to dissuade him, to make him think how hurt Cecilia
will be when she finds out. Cecilia opposes Cesar’s engagement but can’t get
Jorge’s support. Jessica convinces Adriana to tell the truth about her baby and
she does: first to César and then to the real father Raúl. Raúl agrees to marry
her. Javierito needs a psychologist. Ramiro arrives at Yolanda’s door. She
talks with him outside. He tells her he is sorry, he wants to get to know his
daughter. She refuses and tells her daughters it was just a man she met at a
store who was interested in her. Later, she tells Maria Rosa the truth. Javier
buys an expensive bracelet for Ivette. When Cecilia arrives at the office to
see him, he hides Ivette in the bathroom. Alejandra’s secretary, Lucy, invites him to lunch and later to bed. Diana
moves in with Pablo. Jorge tells Maclovio that his son will be released. César
meets Jessica in the elevator and is attracted to her; she thinks he is
handsome. Javier spends the night with Mónica. Pastrana tries to convince Jorge
that Ivette is taking advantage him: she’s got an office and a job but she
hasn’t given him anything. Ramiro goes to Jessica’s school and tells her the
truth. She thinks he is crazy, runs to the bathroom where she tells Adriana,
and faints. Taken to the nurse’s room, Maria Rosa calls her father. He tells
Mónica he can’t go with her to the psychologist because of Jessica. When he
sees her, he admits that Ramiro told her the truth. She is destroyed and won’t
go home with him. She goes to her grandmother’s. Alejandra takes Mónica to the
doctor appointment. Mónica tells her that it is time to change her life, that
she is always last with Javier and that there is a man, Esteban, who cares for
her. Mónica tells the psych the truth and the psych tells her that Javierito is
in danger of becoming autistic! Alejandra takes her and Javierito for something
to eat; she likes the way he is with her son. Javier is furious with Yolanda
for not telling him about Ramiro’s visit (Jessica told him that Yolanda had
seen Ramiro and told them he was a suitor). Javier has his secretary locate
Ramiro, finds him and beats him severey but Ramiro is determined to gain his
daughter’s love. Paola and César go to a romantic place and she has to keep his
hands off of her. They will be married in two weeks. Ramón, dressed as Edmundo,
barges into Paola’s apartment, kisses her and tells her he will win her back.
Then he leaves. She notices something different but doesn’t know that Edmundo
has a twin. Ramiro’s father tells him that Edmundo is still in a coma. Ramón
tells his girlfriend that he is going to make Paola fall in love with him,
break her engagement and dump her. His girlfriend doesn’t like the idea. Maru
tells César that she likes him a lot and kisses him. He is disconcerted. Paola
calls him and tells him about Edmundo’s visit; Maru listens in on the extension
and smiles. Javier goes to his mother’s home and tries to talk to Jessica. His
mother wants to know what happened but he doesn’t say so she visits Yolanda and
asks what Yolanda did. Yolanda tells her that her favorite, the granddaugher
that it totally a Duarte isn’t and throws her out. She returns to her home and
tells Jessica she knows everything. Jessica is fearful that she won’t love her
anymore but her grandmother embraces her and tells her she is her granddaughter
and always will be. Cecilia visits
Yolanda and finds her crying just as Javier enters. He packs a suitcase and
leaves. He takes Javierito to a movie and on the way out meets Jorge and
Ivette. Taking Jorge aside, he explains that the boy is his son but his wife
doesn’t know and to keep the secret. Jorge agrees.

insultos. Lucy pasa la noche con Alejandro. César va al cuarto de Maru. Doña
Cecilia pide a Paola que posponga su boda. Jorge propone a Ivette ser su
amante. Ricardo, el hijo de Maclovio, sale de la cárcel.

Yucatan, 12/12/99: Ramiro asegura que matará a Javier. Alejandro, Javier y César
advierten a don Jorge que Ivette sólo anda con él por interés. César dice a su
padre que no sabe cómo reaccionará si daña a su madre, doña Cecilia. Ivette
aconseja a Mónica que deje a Javier y le haga caso a Esteban. Don Jorge llega a
su casa y se dispone a dormir en el cuarto de huéspedes, pero su esposa le dice
que antes tienen que arreglar sus problemas.Yolanda exige a Javier que le pida
perdón por sus insultos, si es que quiere regresar a la casa. Doña Cecilia dice
a Jorge que siente que ya no la ama ni la desea. También le reclama que no la
apoye en su negativa de que César se case.César pide a su papá que se aleje de
Ivette. Lucy pasa la noche con Alejandro. César recomienda a Paola que posponga
la boda.Don Jorge propone a Ivette que acepte ser su amante a cambio de un
departamento y auto de lujo, entre otras cosas. Javier descubre que Ivette es
la mejor amiga de Mónica.Doña Catalina sufre una embolia.
USA 9/25-29/00. Ramiro tells his sister he is going to kill Javier and goes out searching with a gun. His sister warns Yolanda but won’t tell her her name. Yolanda tells Javier and he recalls the woman who tried to stop him from beating up her brother. He realizes the warning must be about Ramiro. Ramiro follows him in a car but can’t get a clear shot at him. Then, somehow, he meets up again with Jessica and she agrees to talk with him. He again asks her to forgive him, explains that he was young, he wants another chance. She sort of leaves it up in the air and goes to see her grandmother whom she finds unconscious in the garden. She has suffered a stroke. Lucy spends more time with Alejandro. Marú tells César she likes him and almost succeeds in seducing him. Cecilia asks Paola to postpone the wedding and she agrees but César becomes furious when he hears and tells her to marry him in 2 weeks or forget him. Maclovio’s son gets out of jail and promises to change. Jorge offers Ivette an expensive apartment and car in exchange for sex. Offended, she walks out of him and calls Mónica. But later, when she meets Mónica, she tells her that she had decided to accept Jorge’s offer: she was born poor and all that matters to her is power and money. Mónica is shocked: Ivette is a professional who doesn’t have to sell herself. A young model, Pedro, introduces himself to Diana while she is shopping (similar to the scene in which she met Pablo). Alex is in the same store with Lucy and when he sees Diana and Pedro he becomes angry, goes over and calls her names. Lucy takes him away. Diana seems a bit abashed but explains, fairly honestly, the situation to Pedro. Ivette tells Jorge he doesn’t have to buy her anything to sleep with her; she is very attracted to him. They become lovers. The doctors blame Catalina’s stroke on receiving bad news so Jorge blames Yolanda. Diana, in Pablo’s apartment, opens the door and finds an older woman there who tells her that Pablo is a gigolo. She is shocked. He admits it but says he has changed. She tells him he makes her sick but when he threatens to cut off her credit cards, she tells him she will try to forgive him. Cecilia advises her to be tested immediately. Pablo agrees and both have blood tests. Cecilia advises Diana to leave Pablo but she says she can’t, and then there is Pedro. Cecilia is shocked by her attitude. Maru and a drunk César have sex. Ramón tells his novia he loves her but secretly wonders why he can’t stop thinking about Paola.

12/19/99:Javiercito le pide a su mamá que localice a su papá. Doña Cecilia y
Jorge le reclaman a su hijo porque no llegó a dormir. En el hospital Doña
Catalina recupera la conciencia, pero se angustia al darse cuenta que no puede
mover las piernas. María Rosa le dice a su mamá que no soporta verla enojada
con su papá. Doña Catalina le pide a Francisco que ya perdone a su hermano.
Sergio le dice a Pablo que Diana jamás se enamorará de él. César encuentra a su
papá besándose con Ivette. Ricardo se topa con Jéssica.
USA 10/2-6/00. Francisco arrives at the hospital and his mother begs him to forgive his brother. Jessica overhears and tells Maria Ruth; they wonder what their father did. Ramón arrives at Paola’s apartment with a fancy, catered dinner and when César calls, calls her his love very loudly. César hears, recognizes the voice, and becomes angry. Alejandro wonders why he can’t stop thinking about Mónica. Jessica and her sister decide to help their parents reconcile. When Paola calls César, Maru answers and lies to her saying that he isn’t home. César sees his father kissing Ivette in front of the car he has just bought her. He calls her names. Pedro and Diana have a date. She learns he doesn’t earn a lot of money but still goes to bed with him. Alejandro confesses to Jorge that he is falling in love with Mónica. Jorge waxes eloquently over how wonderful Ivette is; Alejandro suggests she is interested in what he can do for her and that he is risking his marriage to a wonderful woman, that women, trust him, can fake sexual passion and enjoyment. Jorge tells him he is wrong, that Ivette makes him feel alive, that he can no longer stand Cecilia. When Jessica and Maria Ruth arrive home, they both see and are attracted to Ricardo. He introduces himself and says that he lives there too; his father can’t believe what he is hearing. Javier and Yolanda reconcile and the girls are happy. Jessica tells Yolanda about her meeting with Ramiro, how he was badly beaten, swore he had loved Yolanda but was too young to accept responsibility, wants to be friends, etc. Ricardo visits and takes Jessica out for a soda. Maria Ruth is jealous. Ricardo lies about going to a private school. Paola calls Ramón and they go out dancing. Raúl sees them together and calls César. He goes to the dancing hall and hits Ramón but Paola tells him to get lost. Ramón kisses Paola at her door. She seems to feel something different. He can’t believe he is falling in love with her. César gets drunk again and Maru goes to his bedroom and has sex with him again. Alex visits Mónica’s son again. After they play, Mónica gives him dinner and he tells her about his unhappy childhood, how his father was insanely jealous of his mother and beat her, how much he wanted a son to love as he wasn’t loved. He cries and Mónica comforts him, tells him that one day he will find the right woman and have a family of his own. Jessica tells her father about her talk with Ramiro, promises that nothing can change her love for him. Javier tells her that Ramiro threatened his life, isn’t the right kind of person for Jessica to be involved with. Jessica tells him that is all the more reason for her to get to know him better. She visits Ramiro and tells him he had better not hurt her father. Ramiro says that he is her father and shows her his present for her: a brand new, very expensive car. Jessica is thrilled with her new car. Mónica tells Ivette that she is attracted to Alex and v.v. Catalina leaves the hospital and wants to spend el noche bueno with Javier, Francisco, and her nietas but not Yolanda. Javier refuses: he will spend the night with his family. Jorge gives Pastrana Xmas presents that include money. Francisco tells his mother he doesn’t understand her hatred of Yolanda, that if she is alone on Xmas eve it is because of her pride. Then she has the nerve to accuse him of not being a real priest because he can’t forgive his brother. Neither is able to apply their advice to their own, personal hatred. César and Paola make up. Mónica entices Alex into a kiss in his office but he withdraws and says that he can’t betray his best friend. Ricardo gives Jessica perfume. Ivette enters a room and gives a gift to a small boy, her son.

le dice a Yolanda que no quiere volver a ver en su casa a Ricardo, porque está
"jugando" con sus hijas. Alejandro y Mónica festejan juntos el Año
Nuevo. Paola comenta a Carolina que el papá de César dejó "plantada"
a su esposo por irse con otra mujer.Ramón se hace pasar por Edmundo, le desea
feliz Año Nuevo a Paola y le dice que la ama. Ramón no se da cuenta que Edmundo
está escuchando. Maclovio le platica a Concepción que Ricardo sale con las dos
hijas de Javier porque está enamorado de ambas.Jorge, quien está en Cancún con
Ivette, llama por teléfono a doña Cecilia, pero ella se niega. Esteban
encuentra a Mónica y Alejandro besándose. Alejandro reclama a Mónica que le
haya ocultado la existencia de Esteban.Ramón confiesa a su papá que se enamoró
de Paola. César va a buscar a su papá, lo encuentra con Ivette, le reclama su
ausencia en la cena de Año Nuevo y le advierte que le va a decir toda la verdad
a su mamá. Javier regaña a Esteban porque tiene relaciones con Mónica, pero
éste le dice que mejor se preocupe por "un tal" Alejandro.Ramón
confiesa la verdad a Edmundo, le dice que se hizo pasar por él para vengarse del
desaire de la boda.
USA 10/9-13/00. El Noche Bueno. Ivette visits with her son Manuel, later tells Mónica how she had to give him up to Barbaran and Alfonso 7 years before and gets to see him, as his aunt, once a year on Xmas eve. Diana’s mom gets drunk. Pablo tells Diana he wants to marry her, have kids. Maru seduces a drunk César again. Ramón visits Edmundo in the hospital and he responds for the first time. Ramiro gives Jessica new clothes and a new car, tells his sister he is still attracted to Yolanda. She fears he is going crazy. Javier gives his son a bike. Mónica tells Javier she is going to date Alex. Javier asks Alex if it is true and he says no. Pedro won’t accept a gift from Diana because it was bought with Pablo’s money. He helps her get a job. Edmundo’s memory returns. Javier tells Jorge that Mónica is interested in Alex and what Mónica said about his proposition to Ivette. Jorge denies the proposition but says things have changed and they are lovers now. Javier congratulates him. Alex confronts Mónica and she tells him she is attracted to him and could love him, convinces him to see her in secret. César denies to Paola that there was anything between him and Maru. Javier returns the clothes to Ramiro but agrees to let Jessica keep the car. Ramiro agrees that Jessica should continue living with her family. César agrees to postpone the wedding until June, 2000. Mónica and Alex become lovers. Paola picks up her first paycheck and decides to get an apartment in the building. Jorge and Ivette go to Cancún for the new year. Edmundo recalls a fight “to the death” between Ramón and him. Javier finds a note about a hotel room and almost walks in on Mónica and Alex but somehow doesn’t. Maru tells Concha about César. Ricardo decides to make Jessica jealous by taking Maria Ruth out but Jessica guesses what he is doing. Rosita is sure he really has changed his mind and likes her. Paola tells her cousin Carolina that Edmundo seems different now. Pedro and Diana take gifts to poor children. Pablo discovers he is almost out of money. Javier tells Ricardo he must choose between the sisters and introduce his parents.

la vida de Javier.César no quiere volver a ver a su padre y amenaza a Ivette
con "hundirla". Doña Cecilia comienza los trámites para divorciarse

10/16-20/00. NEW YEAR’S EVE. Javier and his family spend it with Yolanda’s
parents. Diana and Pablo spend it with her mother. Mónica and Alex go away
together. Jorge stays in Cancún with Ivette and leaves Cecilia alone at the
huge millenium party she had arranged. Jessica and Rosita fight over who
Ricardo really loves. Ramón confesses to his father that he loves Paola
and later confesses the same to Edmundo, explaining about the deception. In the
new year, Esteban sees Alex kissing Mónica and, confronted later by
Javier, tells him. César meets his father at the airport and makes a scene.
Edmundo tells his family he has decided to fight for Paola. Alex breaks up with
Lucy. Javier and Mónica talk; he doesn’t understand how her feelings could
change so much in just 8 days. Then he confronts Alex and accuses him of
betrayal and lying; Alex says he is willing to step aside, but to Javier that
is not the issue. Cecilia and Yolanda are having lunch together when Humberto,
Javier’s boss, greets them...and Ceci learns that he didn’t order Jorge to
Cancún. Jessica’s tio won’t tell her why he hates her father. Ramiro hires a
detective to follow Javier; he tells his sister he plans to destroy Javier.
Jessica tells her abuela, who is recovering, about the car and clothes. Jessica
sees Ricardo kissing Maria Rosa and tells her parents; the 14-year-old tells
her parents she has a right to her sexuality! Pedro tells Diana he couldn’t
love a woman such as she; but he likes to help people improve, better
themselves. Ceci confronts Jorge about Cancún and he finally confesses the
truth. She tells him to get his clothes and leave; she will call a lawyer to start
divorce proceedings. Ramón tells Edmundo he loves Paola and won’t give her up.
Edmundo goes to the hotel but Paola has left; he starts looking for her,
tells Ramón he never wants to see her again. Humberto reprimands Jorge in front
of Ivette for involving him in personal matters and warns him not to let it
happen again. Ceci tells Ivette she can have Jorge, then she breaks the news to
César. When Mónica tells Alex that Ceci has asked for a divorce (Ivette called
her), he is surprised and visits Ceci, agrees to recommend a divorce attorney.
Ceci is hurt because Jorge didn’t try to change her mind. Ramiro gets photos of Javier and Mónica leaving the
building and sends them to Yolanda with an anonymous note. Pablo takes up with
older women again. Diana tells her drunk mother she’s in love, again. Javier
and Mónica visit their son’s psychiatrist and tell her they are separating.
Javier refuses to forgive Alex. César meets the twins outside of the studio and
tells Paola. Jess and Rosita fight over Ricardo. César threatens Ivette. Pablo
learns about Pedro.

1/9/00: Pablo descubre que Diana tiene un amante. Paola ya no quiere casarse
con César. Javiercito descubre a su mamá besándose con Alejandro. Ivette le propone
a Jorge que se vaya a vivir a su lado. Yolanda y Doña Cecilia sospechan que el
hijo de Mónica es también hijo de Javier.

Yucatan, 1/9/00: Pablo descubre que Diana tiene un amante. Ella lo admite sin
ningún reparo y le pide que de una vez por todas terminen su relación.A pesar
de que es novio de María Rosa, Ricardo besa a Jéssica y vuelve a estar indeciso
porque siente que las dos hijas de Javier Duarte le gustan por igual.Jorge se
muda a otro departamento. Javier habla con Ricardo y le dice que quiere conocer
a sus papás, sin sospechar que son Maclovio y Concepción.Paola ya que no quiere
casarse con César. Mientras maneja, Ramón la intercepta y ella descubre que es
él quien la ha llamado fingiendo que es Edmundo.Ivette propone a Jorge que se
vaya a vivir a su lado. Javier se altera, cuando se entera que Javierito vio a
Mónica besándose con Alejandro y amenaza a la mamá de su hijo, con quitarle al
niño. Paola dice a César que no está segura de querer casarse con él porque
quiera conocer más a Ramón

10/23-27/00. Jorge tells Ceci the truth about Diana’s seeing him in Acapulco
with Ivette and Ceci kicks both of them out. Pablo kicks Diana out when she
admits the truth. Javierito sees Mónica and Alex kissing. Javier questions
Ricardo again about his intentions and parents. Ramiro buys Jessica cd’s and
she tells him about Ricardo. Javier and Ceci’s divorce lawyers become partners.
Ramón takes Paola and her cousin Carolina out and confesses everything,
including his planned vengeance and love. Paola is confused because of the way
he kisses and breaks with César who, meeting Jessica in the elevator just
afterwards, asks her out. Catalina talks with Francisco and thanks him for his
support since the day her husband left her for a younger woman. The secretary
takes Ivette out to lunch and the two become “friends”. Ceci and Yolanda talk
about Mónica and devise a plan for finding out the truth. They go to her
apartment and there find a photo of Mónica with her son and Javier.
When Maclovio addresses Ricardo as “hijo” on seeing him
with Maria Rosa, Ricardo lies and Maclovio pretends he was using the word as a
generic term. Jessica and César have dinner. Paola and Ramón go on a picnic.
Yolanda waits in Mónica’s apartment. Javier arrives with his son and confronts
Yolanda and Cecilia. He sends his son out and there is the usual scene one
would expect. Diana finds her mother collapsed on the floor of the empty
apartment, surrounded by bottles, and takes her to the hospital.

Javier se siente deshecho y le pide a Mónica que lo apoye. César le cuenta a su
madre que Paola lo cortó porque quiere salir con sus amigos y vivir su vida.
Los médicos diagnostican que Florinda tiene cirrosis hepática y requiere un
trasplante de hígado. Lupe dice a Maclovio que está dispuesta a ser su amante.
Yolanda desgarra con una navaja la ropa de Javier. Diana está en la ruina y
pide ayuda económica a Alejandro.

1/16/00:Yolanda dice a sus hijas que su padre tiene una amante y un hijo.
Javier se siente desecho y le pide a Mónica que lo apoye para salir
adelante.César cuenta a su madre que Paola terminó su relación con él porque
quiere salir con amigos y "vivir su vida".La madre de Diana se
encuentra muy grave en el hospital. Los médicos le diagnostican cirrosis
hepática y requiere un trasplante de hígado.Fingiendo ser Ramón, Edmundo llama
a Paola y la incita a acostarse con él, pero ella se resiste y él termina
abusando de ella.

10/30-11/3/00. Yolanda tells her children about Mónica and Javierito. Alex
finds a drunk Javier in Mónica’s apartment and consoles him. Javier spends the
night in Mónica’s bed and wakes up wit her. She admits that she loves him. He
tells her he can’t promise anything. Diana’s mom has cirrhosis and needs a
liver transplant. Ramiro calls Jessica and she tells him about her father and
Móncia. He is thrilled. Diana calls Alex and he agrees to pay her mother’s
hospital bill but won’t pay for a transplant. Cecilia recommends her attorney
Ernesto to Yolanda. Ramiro arrives at the apartment and offers Yolanda his
support. She tells him she hates him, for leaving her and for letting her fall
into the hands of a man like Javier. The crazy Ramiro tells his sister he now
will be able to form a family with Yolanda and Jessica. Mónica breaks up with
Alejandro, tells him that she believed what she told him at the time but was
lying to herself. He is furious, sure she was just using him and he, like a
fool, fell for her. Jorge reads the divorce terms and objects to them all.
Ernesto invites Cecilia out. Ramón calls Paola and invites her to a special
dinner. She arrives at an apartment and he rapes her brutally. It turns out
that it wasn’t Ramón but Enrique who arranged the whole thing with Ramón’s
girlfriend. Jorge names Ivette head of the department. She has bigger plans.
Alex confronts Javier who is talking to Jorge who acts as peacemaker. Javier says he doesn’t know what he is going
to do but he loves Yolanda. They finally agree that friendship is more
important than women, but Javier and Alex both warn Jorge that Ivette will
leave him. Jessica and César discuss their mutual family problems. César tells
his mother about Jessica and she is worried because Jessica is even younger
than Paola. Cecilia tells Yolanda about them. Jorge tells his mother about
Mónica; she is thrilled that Yolanda wants nothing to do with him, especially
since Mónica is obviously a professional woman of the right class. Lupe tries
to seduce Maclovio again, even taking him to a hotel room, and he almost falls
for her. Paola, badly bruised and with torn clothes, goes to Cecilia’s
apartment and is cared for by her and Yolanda. Jessica reprimands Javier. César
meets Jessica’s abuela and she is pleased by the relationship. Maria Rosa tells
Ricardo what happened. Jorge finds Mónica in the office with Ivette and they
are introduced. Lucy tries to console Alex. Ivette assures Jorge that she loves
him. Catalina is not pleased by the news that Lic. Ernesto Siera Torres will be
handling Yolanda’s divorce. She hates him but doesn’t tell her son why. A
new character appears: Joana Siera. Joana is returning from Spain after 14
years and a broken love affair. She blames her father for her mother’s death.
Diana goes to a call-girl service and must have sex with the owner to get a
job. Ramón is arrested. Francisco talks to Jessica and María Rosa but the
former can’t accept his advice since he has never forgiven her father either.
Cecilia tells César about Paola. He visits her and promises vengeance. Ivette
goes out to dinner with Humberto and they begin an affair. A worried Jorge
calls Mónica, expecting to find Ivette there.

Catalina and tells her she will be returning to México. Ernesto tells Yolanda
he can’t take her case. Javier tells Maria Rosa the entire truth about his
relationship with Mónica. She asks him why he always loved Jessica better than
her. He says perhaps because he knew that he was not her biological father and
wanted to make up for that but that he loves them equally. Maru offers to
replace Paola in the campaign; Humberto is indifferent about what happened to
Paola. A classmate, Gerardo, offers Jessica pills to raise his spirits but she
refuses. Ramiro declares his love to Yolanda and Javier sees him. Yolanda
defends Ramior. Javier gets a new apartment. Ernesto is married and is having
an affair with Carmen. Yolanda decides to date Ramiro and not to prejudice her
children against Javier. Jessica asks Gerardo for pills, goes to his apartment
and gets high. Maclovio’s friend introduces him to a young woman. Maru models,
tries to seduce César. Joana arrives and is surprised to find her madrina in a
wheelchair. She overhears a telecon between Javier and Mónica in which he tells
her that only his wife and children matter to him. Ramiro tells Yolanda he
loves then says he at least wants to be her friend. Diana has trouble on the
job: not lively enough. Ivette advises Mónica to depend on her head, not her
heart. Yolanda goes on a talk show, tells her story, and asks help in forming a
club for deceived women. Joana helps Catalina get on her feet. Alex tells
Yolanda that Javier does love her and admits he knew about Mónica and Ivette.

madre. De manera sorpresiva llega Yolanda, con sus hijos y Ramiro.Alejandro
descubre que para ayudar a su madre Diana se prostituye. Decide ayudarla
económicamente. Ella le pide una oportunidad para recuperar su amor y lo va a
buscar a su departamento, pero lo encuentra con Lucy.Doña Cecilia acepta la
invitación a comer del licenciado Sierra, pero le aclara que sólo pueden ser
amigos. El, a su vez, le miente al decirle que es viudo y que nunca volvió a
casarse. Por su parte, don Jorge se entera por el chofer que su ex esposa salió
con el licenciado Sierra.Javier va a buscar a su hija María Rosa y se encuentra
con Yolanda, a quien le pide perdón. Ella lo rechaza y le dice que nunca lo
aceptará.

Ivette sends an anonymous letter to Cecilia telling her all the times César saw
Ivette with Jorge. Cecilia guesses the letter was sent by Ivette and calls her;
she admits it. When Jorge finds out, he is furious and leaves Ivette. Cecilia
tells César how disappointed she is that he too betrayed her. Joana and Javier
meet and talk and exchange life histories. Ernesto tells Cecilia that he isn’t
married. César tells Yolanda that Jess is on drugs and Jess finally admits it
to both parents then flees to Ramiro. He reads her information about the drug
from the internet and she promises she won’t take it again but inwardly plans
to. Javier threatens to arrest Ramiro for kidnapping. Yolanda threatens to take
Jess away from both men. Ramiro convinces Jess to go home and to see a
psychologist. Diana begs Alex’s forgiveness; he says he may be able to forgive
but not forget. She goes on the show Mujeres Engañada and tells her story. Alex
sees it. He asks Jorge why Diana should be punished but not him (Jorge);
Jorge says it is because he is a man. Javier discovers it was Gerardo who
probably gave Jess the drugs and beats him up at school. The police take him in
and Gerardo plans to tell his father. Joana criticizes Javier for always
resorting to violence. Though she apparently hates men who deceive women, she
is attracted to Javier. Joana goes to work for Paulina?, Ernesto’s second wife
and tells her how her mother died of a heart attack on seeing her father in
their bed with another woman. Paulina doesn’t know that Ernesto is also
cheating on her but asks him why he didn’t tell her and how she can ever trust
him again. Carolina tells Eduarda about the DNA results. He flees. But Ramón is
still in jail because he killed an inmate in a fight. Paola sees the promo with
Maru and accuses her of sleeping with César to get the job. Chena’s mother
tells Javier and Maria Ruth that Ricardo was in jail. She owns the apartment so
the three (Chena, Mac and Ricardo) move out with the help of Jorge. César pays
Pastraña to follow Ivette so they can both avenge themselves. Ivette gets
another message from Humberto and tells herself she must get out of this
situation.

USA 11/20-24/00. Mónica asks Alex to forgive her, she doesn’t want money or luxuries, just wants to be a good wife and bear his children. He tells her he may be able to forgive her but can’t forget. Javier and Joana go to a concert. When they return home, she kisses him goodnight. César tells his father that Ivette is sleeping with Humberto. Jorge beats her. She says that Humberto forced her to. Jessica and Paola discuss César while he makes love to Maru. Jessica tells Paola she is interested in him. Paola visits Ramón in jail and he calls her his love but she still isn’t sure of her feelings. Jessica gets more pills from Gerardo. Jorge accuses Humberto of forcing Ivette. Humberto denies it and fires Jorge and Ivette. César tries to intervene for his father but Humberto tells him not to worry, his job isn’t in jeopardy and Jorge has many connections. Pastraña suggests that Jorge visit Montserrat, a woman who tried to win him away from Cecilia. He visits her. César tells his mother about Ivette and she tells Yolanda she can’t help being pleased. But Jorge believes Ivette’s lies. Mónica asks Alex for another chance. He can’t believe her nerve. At least Diana had suffered. Alex and Javier discuss Mónica and Diana. Like Jorge, Javier believes the rules are different for men. Ceci offers Diana a job in the club. Ceci hears the news of Jorge’s resignation. Javier asks Alex to help him get proof against Gerardo. He tells Yolanda to take Jessica out of the school but Jessica insists that Gerardo was not the source of the drugs. Chench finds Mac and Lupe on the roof. Paulina leaves Ernesto. Alex finds Mónica in her office packing and all of a sudden she starts to bleed. He takes her to the hospital. She loses his baby and is in danger of dying because she needs AB Neg blood. 11/27-12/1/00. Mónica dies, begging the forgiveness of Alex, swearing her love
for Javier, and asking Yolanda to raise her child. Ivette is distraught. Diana
tries to comfort Alex, but he rejects her, says he no longer feels anything for
her. Jorge takes the advice of Pastraña and visits Montserrat who recalls their
attraction while both were happily married and how they decided not to be
unfaithful. She discovered at the funeral of her husband Octavio that he was a
bigamist but has never told her daughter Sonia, who is not pleased to find her
kissing Jorge in the office. Sonia’s boss has offered her a promotion in
exchange for sex and threatened to close all doors in the business is she makes
an accusation. Jorge gives her Alex’s name and suggests that she work for César
when his assistant can’t go to Guadalajara with him. Maru leaves the house and
goes to stay with Concha. When César finds her, she agrees to go with him to
Guadalajara only if he will promise to try to love her. He tells his mother how
she blackmailed him. Montserrat and Jorge becomes lovers. Ivette tries to see
her son again. Jessica moves out of the house when Javierito moves in; she is
now 18. Javier tells Catalina that Jessica is doing drugs. Jessica swears she
won’t use them again but Catalina tells her that the chauffeur will accompany
her everywhere. Gerardo suggests to her that she get an apartment on her own;
he will introduce her to his boss who will show her how to earn the money she
needs. Javier gets drunk and misses an important appointment at the office.
Joana comforts him and laters tells Paulina that, in spite of her hatred for
infidelity, she feels sorry for Javier. Yolanda signs the request for a divorce.

12/4-10/00. Pablo, in cahoots with Gerardo and Demetrio, offers Jessica an
apartment and she accepts. Diana tells Paola, Yolanda and Cecilia that Alex
rejected her. Joana’s father asks her to forgive him, swears he’s been faithful
to his second wife (not true); she won’t forgive him. Maru tells Soñia to keep
her hands of César. Javier proposes a quick divorce to Yolanda and tells her he
will take charge of his son. Montserrat tells Sonia what she has learned about
Alex from Jorge. Javier gives flowers to Joana. Yolanda and Ramiro have dinner.
Ivette sets up Jorge’s computer and meets Montserrat. Sonia calls Alex but then
loses her nerve. Jessica escapes from her house and goes to Pablo’s apartment
where a drug party is going on. Javier and Joana go out to dinner and she tells
him that she found her husband in bed with another man; he was bisexual and
never told her. Javier serenades Joana. Cecilia’s divorce is final. Ivette asks
Jorge when they will marry. Pablo convinces Jessica to try cocaine. Demetrio
wants her but Pablo tells him to give him a couple of more days to get her
ready. Ramiro hires a detective to find Jessica. Joana and Javier follow
Gerardo to a restaurant where they see him eating with Humberto. Gerardo tells
his father that “those two people want to hurt him”. When Javier goes to the
bathroom, Humberto’s goons follow him and savagely beat him. Soñia invites Alex
out and asks him about Jorge. Alex doesn’t tell her that Jorge and Ivette are
lovers. Sonia tells Alex she likes him. He is disconcerted. Joana tells
Catalina and Yolanda that Javier is in the hospital. When Yolanda and Maria
Ruth arrive, they see Joana and Javier kissing. Jorge tells Alex that he had to
sleep with Montserrat but now feels something for her and she is wonderful in
bed, better than Ivette. Ivette sees Jorge kissing Montserrat in the parking
garage and confronts him; he insists that he is being sexually harrassed, that
it is the price of the job. She pretends to be devastated but accepts it.
Maclovio asks Yolanda’s help with Ricardo but she tells him she doesn’t want
her daughter involved. Esteban meets Ivette at Mónica’s gave and they go out to
eat. Afterwards, Ivette tells him the whole story about her ambition, Jorge and
her son. He still tells her he would like to be her friend. Catalina
confronts Humberto and tells him she will ruin him, that he can’t hurt a Duarte
and not suffer. Ramiro and Yolando go dancing. When they come home, he kisses
her and Maria Ruth sees them. Ricardo and his friends rob a man in a car. The
man identifies Ricardo and he is arrested. He tells the police he was with
Maria Ruth.

acude al Ministerio Público para solicitar la búsqueda de su hija. El Club de

Yolanda se ponen celosos al verse con otras parejas. Alejandro se enfurece
cuando Sonia le cuenta que César estuvo intrigando en su contra. Paola queda
libre de Edmundo y acepta casarse con Ramón. Javier le pide a Joana que se
quede en el departamento. María Rosa declara que ella estaba con Ricardo al
momento en que se supone que el delinquió.

Yucatan, 2/27/00:Pablo deja a Jéssica en manos de Demetrio, un abusador de
menores que pretende obtener fotografías de Jéssica desnuda. Javier está
desesperado porque no encuentra a su hija. Sonia "manda a volar" a
César, porque éste le asegura que Alejandro Lizárraga sólo quiere jugar con
ella. Pistola en mano y totalmente trastornado, Edmundo obliga al sacerdote a
declarlo marido de Paola. Como Jéssica se niega a posar desnuda para Demetrio,
Pablo decide privarla de la droga que tanto necesita. "La Chupitos"
informa a Maclovio que la policía se llevó a Ricardo, su hijo. Agentes
judiciales llegan a salvar la situación entre Paola y Edmundo. Don Jorge
advierte a Montserrat que Alejandro Lizárraga ya cambió su posición frente a
las mujeres y, efectivamente, sólo quiere sacar ventaja de a relación con
Sonia. Jéssica necesita droga y le ruega a Pablo que le proporcione cocaína. En
el elevador del edificio Javier y Joana se encuentran con Yolanda y Ramiro.
Ramiro y Joana perciben que Javier y Yolanda sienten celos al verse con otras
parejas. Alejandro se enfurece cuando Sonia le cuenta que César habló mal de

Joana que se quede en el departamento con él. María Rosa declara que ella

USA 12/11-15/00. Edmundo kidnaps Paola and takes her to a church at gunpoint. Diana and Cecilia follow. Maria Ruth is questioned by the police and lies, saying that Ricardo was with her. Javier tells Alex not to use Sonia but he’s determined to have the upper hand for once. Jorge tells César that Soñia likes Alex but he only wants to sleept with her. At the church, Edmundo shoots the chauffeur. The two are “married” and the police arrive. While the police keep him occupied, Diana goes up behind him and hits him over the head with a vase. Ramón asks her to marry him; she asks for time and tells Diana that he is the twin of Edmundo and she can’t stand to have him touch her. Diana tells her to fight for her love and she tells Diana to do the same. Javier and Yolanda sign the final divorce papers. Jessica, desperate for drugs, poses nude for Demetrio but won’t sleep for him. Ricardo promises to Maria Ruth that he will never rob again, tells her he loves her while thinking that he must keep her happy to keep her quiet. After Yolanda and Ramiro find her kissing Ricardo, she goes off to Javier’s home. Javier tells Ernesto that he and Joana are serious. César tells Soñia about Alex’s plans but she doesn’t believe him and tells Alex who laughs it off but later yells at Jorge for betraying a confidence. Jorge also warns Montserrat but she, too, doesn’t believe it. Diana visits Alex; they talk about old times and make love. Ricardo sees Jessica, drugged out, at Pablo’s apartment but swears to say nothing. He is going to carry drugs for Pablo and Demetrio. Maru gets her first check, sees herself on TV, and celebrates with Concha and her husband. César sees Ivette dancing with Esteban and tells his father; Ivette swears that they are only friends.
2 hour episodes starting 12/13/00. Jorge finds Diana in Alex’s apt. As she leaves, Sonia arrives and gives Alex a big kiss. Diana cries on Cecilia’s shoulder and tells her these are her fertile days. Alex and Sonia become lovers. Concha, Maclovia, Ricardo, MR and Ruth go on an outing with César. Concha finds Maclovia kissing Guadalupe. Mónica and Javier become lovers. Jessica tosses a rock out of the window, a woman picks it up and calls the number. MR answers: Jessica has written for help and given her address. (Pablo has her locked in a room. ) Javier takes a gun, follows Gerardo, gets Pablo’s name from Demetrio. He arrives at the apartment and rescues Jessica. Shortly thereafter, Yolanda, Ramiro, Maria Ruth, Joana arrive. While Jessica tells them all that happened, Ricardo arrives with cocaine and hides, listening. Maria Ruth leaves for a moment for some reason. As the group begins to walk out, Pablo arrives with a gun pressed agains Maria Ruth’s head. He shoots Javier. Then we see him fall out of the window. The police (José Luis Ortega and Antonio) arrive and question everybody, including Ricardo who says he came with Maria Ruth. They find cocaine in the apartment. Nobody says anything about how Pablo fell out of window. Finally, Yolanda confesses that she did it. Montserrat asks Jorge if he has another woman. Alex makes love to Lucy in the office; Diana arrives afterwards. He tells her the truth, she can take it or leave it. She can’t believe he’s changed so much. Distraught, she cries on Paola’s shoulder. Maclovio moves in with Guadalupe. Concha joins the club of Mujeres Enganadas. Soñia tells her mother she didn’t use any protection when she was with Alex.

USA 12/18-22/00. All tell the police they are guilty. They are all jailed. Alex gets Jessica placed in a drug rehab center and gets the others out of jail. Jorge tells César that Jessica is in love with him. Montserrat sees Ivette and Jorge kissing. He confesses all. She says that he can keep his job but Ivette must go. He resigns. Ricardo admits to MR that he was carrying drugs, promises to go straight, again. She asks him to make love to her but he refuses; she is too young. Sonia reprimands César for not telling her about Jorge and Ivette. He tells her that Alex knew too and she confronts him. Alex says he couldn’t betray a friend. Yolanda overhears Ramiro and his sister talking about how he was responsible for the anonymous letter to Yolanda. At first she is very angry with him, tells him she could never trust him.....then goes out to dinner with him! Javier arranges a special date with Joana and proposes to her. She accepts. The police arrest Demetrio and find drugs. Later they find Gerardo and drugs and arrest him too. Ramiro proposes to Yolanda and at first she refuses but later, at home, when Maria Ruth tells her that Javier and Joana are engaged, she says that she loves Ramiro and accepts his ring. Esteban and Ivette dine. Jorge has a heart attack at the impromptu reception Javier arranged to celebrate his engagement. Esteban convinces Ivette to go to the hospital where she “saves” his life by calling him back from the dead! (one of those visiting heaven sequences in which Jorge hears her telling him she loves him). Jorge recovers and goes home. Maria Ruth visits Jessica and they talk about Pablo and their parents. Both are convinced that their parents still love each other. José Luis Ortega tells Ricardo he knows that he was the one who pushed Pablo. Ricardo admits to working for Pablo but not to carrying drugs or pushing him, tells the policeman that they all made a pact of silence and nobody would talk. The president forces Humberto to resign. Javier is pleased by the news. Alex tells Diana about Pablo. Maria Ruth tells her mother that she lied to keep Ricardo out of jail for the robbery he committed. Yolanda forgives him because of what he did. Somebody is taking photos of Javier’s children. Alex and Sonia date but, per her rules, do not sleep together. Javier gets the photos and an anonymous letter threatening his children. Diana tells Alex that she is pregnant. He becomes furious, tells her he doesn’t love her and will never go back with her but will be responsible for the child and try to love it. Carmelita, a widow in black, moves into the apartment building and Maclovio flirts with her; there is something strange about the way her husband died. César, as advised by Jessica’s doctor, tells her that he cares for her but doesn’t love her. She tells him that she will recover and win him. She participates in group therapy. We discover that it is Humberto who took the photos and is intent on vengeance. One of his men throws a rock through Yolanda’s window. Yolanda has Maria Ruth read the note attached (!): it is a tombstone with her name on it. Diana tells Sonia about her pregnancy and is convinced that she can win back Alex. Sonia calls César to cry on his shoulder; she saw Alex before she ran into Diana and he told her nothing. She doesn’t understand. José Luis Ortega goes to question Javier again and finds Yolanda there. He is told about the threats. (After a long conversation with Joana the dense Javier finally realized that Humberto must be behind the threats.). Ortega still seems more concerned about finding Pablo’s killer than protecting Javier’s family. Catalina finds the word “death”written on the rear window of her car and tells Javier. Ivette leaves Jorge in the apartment and has dinner with Esteban. Afterwards, they go to his home and make love. Javier and Alex, with armed men, go to Humberto’s home. 2/22/00 - no episodes.
12/25-29/00. No episode on the 25th. 1st hour of the 26th was repeat of last hour of 21st. Javier and Alex, with guns and goons, go to Humberto’s. Javier beats him up, threatens to kill him, Humberto’s man overpowers Alex, the goons come in and shoot Humberto’s man. Alex tells them to forgive each other and they do. A ridiculous end to a violent scene. César sees Ivette and Esteban together and she confesses that she never loved his father. He asks the doctor what to do and they decide to hide the truth from Jorge for a while. Ramiro and Maria Ruth go to Javier’s home and learn that she is safe. Both couples discuss their honeymoons. Alex tells Javier that he still loves Yolanda. Ivette confesses to Esteban that she loves him. Javier and Joana discuss their wedding. Montserrat won’t let Alex talk to Sonia. Esteban goes home...to his wife and two children. He has lied to both Mónica and Ivette. Carmen visits the Club and confesses that she killed her unfaithful husband. Ernesto sees Montsy at a restaurant and is attracted to her. Lucy breaks up with Alex; she has a novio. Ivette tells Jorge the truth; he beats her up and kicks her out, doesn’t let her take anything from the apartment. Ceci sends a letter to César; she is going to stay in New York where she has gotten a job. Ernesto tells Montsy he is separated and they begin dating. Jesscia confronts César and Sonia. Jorge regrets leaving Ceci and César overhears him talking to her picture. Javier admits to his friends that he still loves Yolanda. Yolanda’s parents arrive after learning of her divorce and find Ramiro in her house. Jorge tries to apologize to Montsy but she doesn’t accept it. Diana is hospitalized but doesn’t lose the baby. Yolanda’s father talks to Javier but he says their marriage is over; both have new partners. Alex tells Sonia he loves her. The wedding day arrives. Sonia is late and is afraid she is pregnant. Maria Ruth and Jessica implement a plan to prevent the two civil ceremonies: with walkie-talkies, they each tell one parent that the other refused to sign the papers. But it doesn’t work and both couples are married and the girls confess what they did. At the wedding Sonia discovers that Jessica kissed César and leaves with Alex who wonders what she is doing with him. She says she cares for both him and César. Alex makes up with César and tells him that Sonia is mixed up. She confesses to César that she cares for both of them and he tells her to make up her mind then let him know; he may or may not still be interested. He decides to go out with Jessica to get to know her better. Sonia is pregnant and doesn’t know what to do; she doesn’t want Alex back just because of the pregnancy. Francisco comes to the wedding and finally makes up with Javier, who seduced his novia years before. He has learned to forgive and the brothers make up for lost time. Demetrio escapes from jail and plans vengeance. Javier and Joana have a wonderful wedding night; Yolanda and Ramiro don’t - she can’t make love to him because she feels nothing. He gets drunk. Jorge works on a campaign for Montsy and she keeps him working till late at night. Finally, he accuses her of still caring for him and kisses her. Ivette meets with another minister about a job but after making the offer he asks her out and she accuses him of being just like all other men. If the job is dependent on sex, she wants him to tell her straight out.
USA 1/1-5/00. FINAL WEEK. no episodes on the 1st. Maria Rosa has a huge quinceanera which Catalina calls vulgar (arranged by Yolanda). Ricardo is her partner. Jorge proposes to Montsie and she accepts. Demetrio appears with guns and goons at Maria Rosa’s party. Ramiro is shot. Demetrio kidnaps Javier and Yolanda and beats up the former. Sonia learns that she is going to have twins. Concha sees Maclovio with Carmen and tells Guadalupe. The captive Javier and Yolanda declare their love for each other. He manages to overcome his captors, the police arrive and they are freed. Montsie says goodbye to Ernesto and he admits that he was only interested in getting her into bed. Yolanda visits the recovering Ramiro in the hospital. Guadalupe visits Carmen and tells her the truth about Maclovio. Carmen decides on revenge and starts to poison him with arsenic. Sonia tells Alex she is pregnant with twins. He admits he still loves her and asks her to marry him; she asks for time to think. Yolanda confesses to Francisco that she married Ramiro without love. Ivette, beginning to wonder about Esteban, searches his wallet and finds the picture of his wife and children. She visits his wife and tells her about herself and Mónica. Esteban returns home to find her there. His wife kicks him out. Lupe joins the club and tells the members about Carmen. Yolanda tells her that Carmen admitted to the club that she had killed her first husband. Worried, they find Maclovio very ill and take him to the hospital. Yolanda denounces Carmen to the police and she is arrested for the murder of her first husband and attempted murder of Maclovio. Concha asks the hospitalized Maclovio to return but he tells her he doesn’t love her anymore. Jorge and Montsie are married in the church (somehow Ceci got their marriage annulled). Ivette makes a fool of herself, walking down the aisle and begging Jorge to come back to her. Alex, etc. take her out. Sonia moves in with Montsie, Jorge and César while she makes up her mind. Ernesto visits Joana and gets her forgiveness. César runs into Paola and they talk. She tells him that Ramón still wants to marry her but she isn’t ready to commit to marriage and that Edmundo is in an insane asylum. They pledge to be friends. Maclovio rejects Lupe. Javier and Yolanda reminisce and make love. She feels guilty, goes home and tells Ramiro she doesn’t love him and must leave him. He goes crazy, tries to strangle her, drags her out of the apartment. Jessica and Maria Rosa call Javier who gets there in time! to follow them to another building where Ramiro drags Yolanda to the roof and threatens to throw her off. Instead, he trips over the edge and Javier saves his life (as well as Yolanda’s) of course. He does, however, have Ramiro arrested. Yolanda tells her daughters that it was her fault because she was unfaithful with Javier. The girls are thrilled. Javier confesses to Francisco that he had sex with Yolanda; Francisco tells him that he is now pledged to Joana and owes her fidelity and love. Sonia tells César that she had decided: it is he she loves. He asks for time to think it over and tells Alex Sonia’s decision. Alex is upset, decides to give up smoking, and in almost the next scene tells Javier that he is relieved. Jessica visits Ramiro in jail and he admits that he was responsible for the anonymous letters that told Yolanda about Mónica. Jessica and Maria Rosa tell Joana that Javier was unfaithful with Yolanda. She doesn’t believe them but then she visits Javier’s office and overhears him telling Alex about the sex and the fact that he loves Yolanda and Joana. She almost faints and, after Javier discovers her, tells him that she can’t accept his being unfaithful and never wants to see him again. She goes away with her father. A young woman seeking a job from Jorge locks the office door and takes off her blouse. He looks but says no and escorts her out. Montsie asks why the door was locked and he tells her what happened and swears that he will always be faithful to her. She believes him. Yolanda leaves a letter saying that she must go away to get over Javier. He and the girls go to the bus station and see her leaving in a bus but too late to stop her. César tells Jessica he loves her and proposes. She says she loves him too but is too young to marry. He says that’s good because it was a joke. They decide to take the time to really get to know each other. In the restaurant, Maru appears and introduces her novio Oscar, the producer of her telenovela. Ivette confronts Jorge and Montsie in a restaurant, apologizes, says that she was deceived by the man she loved and has learned her lesson. Teniente Ortega calls a meeting of the suspects and says that he knows the truth: Ricardo came out from hiding, surprising Pablo, so Ramiro was able to wrestle away the gun. Pablo confessed to having sex with Jessica so Javier ran into him and pushed him out the window. He says that Ramiro confessed. But Javier says everybody knows Ramiro hates him, is in jail for attempting to kill Yolanda and that his confession is worthless. Ortega swears that he won’t let the murder of Pablo rest but that’s the last we hear of it. Diana and Sonia give birth at the same time in the same room. Both have girls. In the park with his three daughers, Alex meets another Diana and, at her request, tells how he became the father of 3 girls by two different women. Catalina tells Joana to return and fight for Javier and she agrees. Javier gets a call that Yolanda died in an accident and visits the morgue. Time passes. Joana, very pregnant, arrives and tells Javier that she is willing to give him another chance when Yolanda appears. Joana leaves. He tells her he will always love her but also loves Yolanda. (the time frame here seems completely whacko). Javier and Yolanda declare their love for each other and the final scene is a picture of them with Jessica, Maria Rosa and Javiercito. FIN.
