Telenovela-World:   summary of Dec 23 gran final   Author: Kevin (---)  Date:   01-03-06 09:19 PST

In the hospital, Isabel tells Patricio that she doesn't want to have his baby. He tells her she is crazy and that he will see to it that his child is born. He has plans for his child to carry on his "work." Patricio takes a scalpel and cuts Isabel's face.

Soledad gives her speech as new rector. She wants to thank Felipe, but he isn't there. Mariana goes to look for him, but outside, Patricio pulls a gun on her. Patricio pulls out the other half of the necklace and tells her he is her other half. A student walks by and Mariana runs away.

Felipe arrives in the auditorium. Soledad has him come up on stage. While giving a speech praising Soledad, Felipe has visions of Mariana running to the roof where she fell in his dream. On the roof, Patricio insists that since he is in possession of the necklace, he is meant for her. Felipe falters in his speech and runs out of the building.

Felipe arrives on the roof and Patricio says that if he can't have Mariana, no one can and pushes her over. She manages to hold on to the ledge with one hand and Felipe pulls her to safety. Patricio, seeing the two of them together, shoots himself in the head, the necklace falling beside him.

Time shifts, it is now night. There are candles where Patricio died. Uriel is there speaking into the air. He wonders when Patricio will learn his lesson. He says that Patricio will come back and this time Uriel hopes he will be a different person. He says that one day the world will end, but love will be eternal. He snuffs out one candle, and the camera focuses on the other candles being blown out by wind. When the camera comes back to Uriel his clothes are in a pile. His bare feet and shins are all that are visible and Uriel starts rising up into the sky. His toes point downward (in a Jesus on the cross pose) and there is a great white light as Uriel disappears.

German goes to a therapy group for codependants. He sits down and the camera, panning around the other memebers, stops on Soledad who starts laughing to see him. He starts to laugh and soon they are both laughing unable to control themselves but still respectful of the others.

Poncho is walking at school. In voiceover we hear that man who helped him recognize his powers. Poncho must learn to use his power and to make people believe in what he says. As Poncho walks, a student brushes by touching Poncho. Poncho gets a glimpse of that students home life. A girl touches Poncho as he helps her gather her books which have fallen. He tells her her boyfriend doesn't love her. He sees Dulce and touches her. He sees the two of them with a young boy named Santiago (not Felipe and Soledad's Santi). They kiss.

Isabel is on a horse ranch. It seems she has taken over for her father. She gets news from various areas of the country. A baby cries. The nanny tells Isabel the baby is hungry, but Isabel tells the nanny to take the child out of her sight. Isabel turns and there is a scar on her face from ear to mouth.

Diego and Ines have breakfast. They kiss and are close but it isn't clear if they are married.

Santiago shows Margarita that he found the other half of the sun painting he made a while ago. He tells her that Felipe cried when Santiago lost half of the painting. Margarita tells Santiago that people cry to heal their souls and there is a montage of various characters crying in the novela-Felipe, Mariana, Diego, Soledad, Patricio, Isabel, Dulce, Amanda, Jose, Marta, Modesta, Lucina, Luz's father, German, and Santiago.

Margarita tells Santiago that his father's soul was broken but it is now healed. Uriel says in voiceover that from the top of the tower only the light of the complete sun can grant eternal love. Modesta calls out that it is time to come in, the sun is about to set.

On top of the mountain where Uriel took Felipe, Mariana and Felipe join their necklaces. They say the sun is now complete like they are. Felipe takes the complete necklace and throws it over the edge. They kiss and the sun shines brightly between their faces.

The necklace is in the sand. The wind blows sand. Eventually the necklace is buried in sand. There is a quote by Maria Zambrano: "Cada instante de amor verdadero, revive nuestro pasado."
