ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT: The novela must have aired in America on Azteca America, Telefutura, Telemundo or Univision and must have ended between October 8, 2003 and October 8, 2004.

We are less than two months away, from revealing who will be the contenders for this covetted award. This is the equivalent of the Oscars to Telenovelas....I have decided that this year, you all can campaing for a telenovela or an specific actor. The entry is that the telenovelas eligible had to be aired in the United States via Azteca America, Telefutura, Telemundo, and Univision. Caracol, Globo, and TV Colombia don't count since those are premium and not many people have them, until they are accessible like the four major spanish networks, then we can talk. Also the telenovela had to finish between October 8, 2003 and October 8, 2004. The official nominations will be posted on October 11 throughout the day.

This is the fourth year that these awards have been held and each year has been a success. I look forward for your participation this year, and let's have fun, and give the price to who deserves.

THE AWARD CEREMONY

The awards ceremony was a success. The winners were happy and the ones that didn't win, simply said that they would work harder next time and they were happy with the nomantion.

There surprises since many thought Pasion de Gavilanes would take everything but it didn't happen. Juan Pablo Raba, who for La Niña de Mis Ojos said that when he first heard Daniela Escobar, Maysa from El Clon and last year's winner for Supporting Actress read thename Juan, he thought for a second is Juan Sebastian Aragon from Gavilanes, to his surprise it wasn't him. Another surprise winner was Jorge Poza from El Manantial, he claimed that he thought Raul Arrieta would take the award for Ladron de Corazones. Angelica Rivera was not surprise with her win, she said "When Salvador Mejia offered me this role, I knew this would win me the Golden Victor Award and that is why I took, plus it was a great comeback for me."

Giovanna Antonelli, who lost last year Best Actress, manage to snag a win this year for her portrayal as Capitu, a prostitute who supports her family without her parents knowing in Globo's Lazos de Familia "I am so happy, thanks Globo, thanks Golden Victor Awards, thanks Maneco". Deborah Secco stole the show when Jonathan Montenegro, last year winner's for Best Young Actor, called her name as the winner, Deborah practically kissed him in the mouth, tongue and all, she was jumping up and down, and laughing, she later explained that is how Iris would have reacted. Carolina Dieckman was more civilized and got up to stage to pick up her award for Best Newcomer Female for her outstanding tour de force perfomance in Lazos de Familia. Natasha Klauss who won Best Female Characterization was crying of excitiment as she gave her acceptance speech. Jose Angel Llamas who picked up honors for Best Actor, also said that he appreciated the trust and support Telemundo has given him throughout his career. Giulia Gam who won for her role as the psychotic Heloiza took home Best Actress and said that she thought Vera would take it. Lorena Meritano was another winner, her role of the infamous Dinorah Rosales earned her a Best Guest Actress Award and said "To those that hated me in PDG and called me PPT, in your face."

A funny moment occurred when Rocco gave out the award for Best Non Human Performance, all of Rocca's competition, Chupi the Dog, the Horses and Lionel, were surrounded by Rocca's relatives and all had their mouths open, after Rocco called Rocca's name as the big winner, the relatives closed their mouths and returned to their seats.

Two major scandals occurred, one was Catherine Siachoque, who before handing out the award fro Best Villain to Humberto Zurita said that she was leaving Miguel Varoni for Victor F. and the other happen when Cesar Evora picked up his Award for Best Guest Actor, and said that he was leaving his wife for a forista name Christine, who was backstage making out with brazilian hearththrob Reynaldo Gianechinni. How about that?

The Banquet was a success, Miguel Varoni, was seen with Tuly, Rocco with Jayde, to our surprise Rocco was eating alot along with their relatives. We talked to Mother Fluffy, Rocco's mom, she said that the execs at Lunivision and Telemundo were all boney and the only one that had meat didn't full them enought.

However, Mr. Victor F considers the event a success, he is already getting campaings for next year awards. "Azteca is already talking to me about La Heredera y Belinda, and it looks like Los Sanchez and Las Juanas will also be in contention. RCTV, VV, Televisa, and Telemundo are already trying to convince me that their novelas shoudl be considered. Although Telemundo is putting emphasis on Prisionera and Gabriel Porras only. I am telling them as I am telling you, we have a lot of time for next year, and let's simply enjoy tonight and worry about tomorrow." He also said "I want to thank the committee of the Golden Victor Awards like DD, Maritere, Jayde, Janet, and Christine, who made this year's awards show a success."

Surprising news from the red carpet at the Golden Victors Gala… Author: Janet (---) Date: 10-20-04 17:15 PDT

Looks like there was a bit of a scuffle because El Gordo y La Flaca were barred from broadcasting from the red carpet or alfombra roja at the Golden Victors! When questioned, Mr. Victor F. responded that of course he hadn’t banned television’s Odd Couple Of Notorious Chisme – “We have great respect and affection for your contributions to television – without you, the wonderfully hysterical parodies of you that Angelica Vale and Arath de la Torre do on ‘La Parodia’ wouldn’t exist.” Production staff for the Golden Victors insisted that they had personally escorted El Sordo y La Placa off the premises for their own safety; as rumors abounded that many of Rocco’s female relatives had shown up simply because they had heard that the rounder half of the EGYLF team would be there – one young enticing croca, who refused to give her name but looked luminescent in all her greenosity in the string bikini she was sporting, said as she wiped the drool from her powerful jaw, that she had “been so looking forward to being invited into el Gordo’s hot tub for an interview…”

At the last minute, Lorena Rojas graciously accepted the invitation to take over red carpet duties (Paty Chapoy and Daniel Bisogno from “Ventaneando” had been asked, but already had previous commitments due to Azteca involving them in the promotion of the latest L’Academia concert tours). It was hard for Lorena to work this event in between her current appearances in the theatrical work “Aventurera,” but as Lorena said, “I wouldn’t miss the Golden Victors for anything in the world!” She was also completely gracious about being overlooked for the nominations this year – “Well, I confess – there were so many other wonderful competitors in the ‘best actress’ category this year, and I’ll admit my work in ‘Ladron de Corazones’ wasn’t my best – and it’s done nothing to dispel the notion that I’m a ‘table dancer’ actress [editorial note: Lorena had starred in “Como en el Cine” for Azteca, the idea for the novela being based on the American movie “Coyote Ugly” and “Ladron” featured Lorena in some scenes in which her character’s undercover cop work included pole dancing]. That’s why I recently did the historical mini-series ‘Zapata’ – sure, it’s difficult to work under hot lights in those heavy period costumes, but it certainly adds a patina of respectability to one’s resume, and though the costumes still require occasional ample display of “the twins,” at least I didn’t have to spend the entire novela in midriffs and belly shirts…. And of course I completely understand why I wasn’t nominated for my work in ‘Zapata’ – six episodes does not really qualify as a telenovela.”

Lorena did say she was extremely happy that Humberto Zuritas had won the “best male villain” Golden Victor for his work in “Ladron de Corazones.” At this comment, a reporter immediately hounded her, asking about the rumors of her supposed romance with her handsome, older costar. Lorena laughed as she explained, “Of course we weren’t romantically involved – we just have a very close working relationship and friendship of many years – those photos of us together have been completely misinterpreted! I have enormous respect for both Humbero and his wife Christian…” Lorena said she was very much looking forward to next year’s Golden Victors, where she hopes she might have the chance to qualify for a nomination, as she’s scheduled to go into production on a novela for Telemundo once her current theatrical commitments end sometime this December. Lorena then politely excused herself to resume her red carpet duties – another former LDC costar, Manolo Cardona, had just shown up with his current flame Barbara Mori and both were being mobbed by frenzied male and female fans, and Lorena felt her chances were pretty good of getting an exclusive interview…

For me, the best moment of the entire ceremony was the surprise presentation of a Golden Victor Award - for the most prolific poster to the Telenovela-World forums (beating out the second place poster by over 500 messages) - to our very own Victor F. himself!

When I called out Victor's name and Diane presented him the award, it was, I think, one of tha most pleasant duties we have performed on behalf of Telenovela-World.

Seriously Victor, thank you for the more than 16,200 posts (and still counting). I think the most amazing thing about it all is the quality of those posts. Gracias.
