Danny the Bunny’s Story

Danny the Bunny - by request Author: Zecca (---) Date: 08-17-04 20:41 PDT
By request I am posting a recap of previous Danny the Bunny episodes, plus a new one in this thread, so if you are not interested, just skip it, but I need to lighten the mood here, so here goes....

Re: Recap - Danny the Bunny Author: Zecca (---) Date: 08-12-04 10:37 PDT
Yes, Danny the Bunny is still alive, but he has had an incredible time at the Moncada's house. I supose I can give you a quick recap in case you missed the subplot involving Danny the Bunny. Danny the Bunny was a gift from DD to Veal, but Veal angrily returned Danny the Bunny to DD when she found out DD was planning to marry Lupe. This, of course, broke poor Danny the Bunny's heart, as he was secretly in love with Veal, a truly impossible love, of course.
Nevertheless, DD handed Danny the Bunny to Carmela to care for him, and that, of course, is when the trouble started. Carmela was terrified of Danny the Bunny, since she knew witches use cats and bunnies as familiars for their spells, and she believed Lulu was a witch. Danny the Bunny could sense the fear and loathing from Carmela, but finally found solace in the form of Gustavo, the butler, who took over the chore of feeding poor Danny the Bunny.
But when Lulu killed Gustavo, Danny the Bunny had lost his last friend. Then Lulu approached him and showed him a stewpot, and said she was planning to have rabbit stew for dinner, as soon as she came back from her picnic with Rosalia and Veal. Thankfully, Lulu never returned, and Danny the Bunny's life was spared. Being the owner of a lucky rabbit's foot probably didn't hurt him either.
But Danny the Bunny is still in peril. Gallardo has returned to the Moncada house, depressed over losing Mona Lisa to Cabello, and Penguin overheard him say that the only thing that might cheer him up would be some rabbit stew like his dear mother used to make back home in Cucamungacitrallela. The episode ended with Danny the Bunny backed up against his cage, bunny buck-teeth bared and a terror-filled look in his eyes.

DANNY THE BUNNY - Important News! Author: Zecca (---) Date: 08-12-04 21:29 PDT
Telemundo is spinning off the popular Danny the Bunny into his own novella, which will air in the 8:55 - 9pm slot. Titled "Pasión del Conejito," the story will follow the lovelife of a rather prolific bunny (aren't they all?) who leaves behind the heartbreak of his unrequited love for Veal and hops forth on a fishing boat in the Miami harbor. The boat then sails away to a village of gypsies, who have a custom involving rabbit stew. Yet despite this new danger, Danny the Bunny meets a female rabbit, Daniela, owned by a gayo in the pueblo.
"Pasión del Conejito," an original Telemundo production, has all the great features you've come to expect from Telemundo: cheesy special effects, sporadic captioning, and irrational plot twists!
"Pasión del Conejito" -- you'll never look at bunnies the same way again. Muy Pronto on Telemundo!!

Stunning Shocker Tonight!!! Author: Zecca (---) Date: 08-13-04 16:22 PDT
The shocking twists and turns continue on tonight's episode of "Pasión del Conejito," as Danny the Bunny's relationship with Daniela the Gitana bunny heats up.
Still on the rebound after his "impossible love" for Veal was rebuffed, Danny the Bunnny has found the ubiquitous Telemundo slut in Daniela, who has never rebuffed any of his advances. But tonight he learns why, and the shocking secret may changed his life forever!!
Danny the Bunnny discovers Daniela's horrible secret! Daniela is really a porcelain bunny!!
[4] Danny the Bunny - Mona Lisa Arrives Author: Zecca (---) Date: 08-17-04 20:47 PDT
Este Lunes en "Pasión del Conejito":
Monalisa, disguised as a female bunny, tracks down Danny the Bunny on the island of Gitanos, hoping for a chance to reunite him with Veal (who, with her buck-toothed rabbit-face is looking more and more like a perfect match for Danny the Bunny after all).
But Danny the Bunny is suspicious of Monalisa's disguise.

Este Martes en "Pasión del Conejito":
Danny the Bunny discovers that Daniela the Bunny is in reality the illegitimate porcelain pet bunny of Santa Sara, the porcelain goddess of the Gitanos.
Danny the Bunny now realizes that all his prolific attempts at bunny sex with the porcelain ornament were both futile and sacreligious!
Ashamed, Danny the Bunny decides to return home with Monalisa.
[6] BRAND NEW: Danny the Bunny Author: Zecca (---) Date: 08-17-04 20:49 PDT
Este Miercules en "Pasión del Conejito": Separated At Birth?
On the trip back to Miami, Monalisa mentions to Danny the Bunny that she overheard Lupe tell Mate that Danny the Bunny and his unrequited love Libertad were actually separated at birth!!
While Veal's rabbit-teeth should have given it away long ago, this revelation comes as a complete shock to Danny the Bunny, who now realizes that his impossible love for Veal is now even more impossible, and in fact, incestuous, as Veal is his long-lost sister.
A flashback to Danny the Bunny's birth at the convent in Mexico, titled "Danny the Bunny: The Convent Years" is shown. Obviously the young prisoner Lupe was very lonely in the nascent years of her budding sexuality. She shied away from all men after her rape, but she was befriended by a furry 6 foot rabbit named Harvey, who had a passion for Jimmy Stewart movies.
Alas, Harvey was never seen again (you might even say he became invisible) and upon his birth, little Danny the Bunny was shipped to Miami as part of the convent's Easter bunny exchange program with less fortunate churches in Aventura and Boca Raton. Several years later, Daniel Moncada came across young Danny and purchased him as a gift for Veal.

Damn, Telemundo left off the captions on "Pasión del Conejito" so I have no idea what happened on tonight's episode! Sorry, everyone, but you can blame Telemundo!!
Fortunately, the captions came back on in time for tonight's episode of "Child of Pain."
[8] Danny the Bunny Star in Sordid Sex Scandal! Author: Zecca (---) Date: 08-17-04 21:24 PDT
Danny the Bunny Star in Sordid Sex Scandal!
Word just in -- breaking news is that Danny the Bunny, star of the popular novella "Pasión del Conejito," had a sordid affair with a younger bunny also appearing on "Pasión del Conejito"!
Danny the Bunny was often rumored to have a prolific sex life. "He f#@*ed like a rabbit!!," one of his co-stars volunteered, asking to remain anonymous.
The younger bunny, who played the role of Jalebate on the show, was unavailable for comment. As a respectable publication, we cannot reveal her name since she is a minor (but we did post her picture below).
However, since the gestation period for rabbits is 30 days, the litter, (photo below), would seem to substantiate the claim.
"She was just after bunny sex," commented one co-star."It was all her fault."
But another co-star disagreed. "They knew what Danny the Bunny was like when they hired him! This isn't the first time, you know! He has liters all over town!'
[9] THE END of Danny the Bunny? Author: Zecca (---) Date: 08-17-04 23:50 PDT
Este Viernes en "Pasión del Conejito":
A cast change may threaten continuation of filming on "Pasión del Conejito"!
Due to a sex scandal, a new actor has been chosen to play Danny the Bunny on the popular novella. The actor, who formerly played Ernesto on Prisonera, will assume the lead role of Danny the Bunny on "Pasión del Conejito"
No word yet on how fans may react to such a major cast change in a popular series. Producers are especially worried whether the new actor is up to the task, given the added demands of playing a live bunny instead of a dead man.

Cast Reacts Badly to Replacement
UPDATE: Tempers flared on the set of "Pasión del Conejito" as the diva formerly known as G.R. refused to accept the new actor in role of Danny the Bunny.
"No way! I won't do it with THAT rabbit," the young diva was overheard screaming on the set.
She then made an obscene gesture with a carrot and stormed off the set.

Bunny Diva Backs Down
UPDATE: Filming resumed on the set of "Pasión del Conejito" after the diva formerly known as G.R. agreed to accept the new actor in role of Danny the Bunny.
When told she was in breach of contract, would forfeit her million dollar salary, AND HAVE TO RETURN TO HIGH SCHOOL, the diva quickly rushed to make amends.
"You wascally wabbit," the young diva cooed, promising to behave herself from now on.
[12] Pasión del Conejito summary: Author: Zecca (---) Date: 08-27-04 13:37 PDT
This episode took place at the doctor's office, where we find young Jalebate, accompanied by her father, El Tigre:
Doctor: I'm sorry to tell you this, but the rabbit died*
Jalebait: Oh No! Not Danny the Bunny!!!!
***
*(They used to inject the urine of a woman into a rabbit. If the rabbit died, the woman was definitely pregnant. If the rabbit lived, she was not.)
Re: [12] Pasión del Conejito summary: Author: B. (---) Date: 08-27-04 14:38 PDT
it's not DtB -- it's NOT. the dead rabbit is his heretofore unknown twin brother, who, poor thing, was hard of hearing (and a bit feeble-minded). he thought they said "rest bunny" when they were telling him about the job, not "TEST bunny."
RIP Donny the Bunny.
[13] Pasión del Conejito summary: Author: Zecca (---) Date: 08-27-04 19:29 PDT
El Tigre, father of Jalebate, is enraged upon learning the rabbit has died and demands to see the body of that "carne muerta." But when the doctor returns, he tells Jalebate and El Tigre that the body has disappeared! Is the bunny truly muerte? Has he fled? Was he kidnapped? What has happened to el Conejito? Donde esta Danny the Bunny?
Scenes from tomorrow's episode: Jalebait holds a TV press conference, holds up a photo of Danny the Bunny and begs for his safe return, while El Tigre vows vengeance on el Conejito pobre!
[14] Pasión del Conejito summary: Author: Zecca (---)
Date: 08-28-04 11:29 PDT
Suspicion grows that El Tigre is responsible for Danny the Bunny's disappearance. Meanwhile, thank's to Jalebate's appearance on TV pleading for the safe return of Danny the Bunny, she has been approached by a discount department store to appear in their commercials. Jalebate asks her cousin Pate to join her in the commercial.

[15] Pasión del Conejito summary:
Fear mounts as not only Danny the Bunny, but also Pancho and Daniel are missing! Suspicion now falls on Cobra, who was seen talking with El Tigre. However, there is some relief when Daniel Moncada reappears, until it is discovered he has merely been replaced by a lifeless mannequin!
Carmela believes that Danny the Bunny has been abducted by aliens-- illegal aliens from Mexico, which obviously has a shared border with Florida right near Homestead.
Rosalia, sick with grief over the missing bunny, imagines she sees rabbit droppings all over the floors of the house.
Finally, Danny the Bunny appears at the conclusion of the episode. He is being held in what appears to be a very uncomfortable position, as his legs are being twisted and the camera pulls back and reveals that Danny the Bunny is in the hands of... Enrique!!
And wait! What is Enrique doing with that chocolate bar? Oh no!!
[16] Pasión del Conejito summary: Author: Zecca (---) Date: 09-11-04 00:16 PDT
[16] Pasión del Conejito summary:
Jalebate and her cousin Pate (pronounced "Pah-tay") continue filming their TV commercials for Route 69 jeans at Que Mart.
Danny the Bunny is recovering from chocolate poisoning.
Five rabbits and a possum were run over by Ronny on his way home from turning Berenice into roadkill.
On a sidenote, the entertainment newspaper Variety reported today that Pasión del Conejito has surpassed both the show that precedes it, Pasión de Gavilones, and the show that follows it, Prisonera, in the Neilsen ratings.
Even more evidence of the show's popularity is the constant references in Te Voy Ensenar a Querer by Deborah to her "conejito."

Danny the Bunny! Author: Zecca (---)

[18] Pasión del
Conejito - SPOILER - Final Episode of Danny the Bunny!
Danny the Bunny
is reunited with Daniel Moncada. But as the camera focuses, we see it is not
Daniel Moncada but Gabriel Porras! Danny the Bunny blinks and Gabriel Porras
slowly morphs into Mauricio Isles.
Then he is
surrounded by a sea of familiar faces -- Lupe, Mate, Mona Lisa, Carmilla,
Gustavo, Lulu, Veal-- then they all disappear and the walls begin dripping red
with blood. The blood swirls down a shower drain, as Jennifer Robinson's
screams are drowned out by Lulu's laughter. Then silence. And darkness.
Sometime
later....
Danny the Bunny
opens his eyes. He is back in his rabbit hutch at the pet store where he first
met Daniel Moncada, who bought him as a gift for Veal. Or did he? Was it all
a.... a dream?
A man approaches
his hutch. Is it Daniel Moncada? No, it is a stranger. He gently lifts Danny
the Bunny out of the hutch. Shortly after that, we see the man entering a house
with Danny the Bunny.
"Honey, I'm
home," the man cries out.
"Kico,
where have you been?," a woman's voice asks.
"Not to
worry, Mrs. Olivieri, mi amore! I just stopped off for a surprise. You just
relax, I'm fixing dinner tonight. I'm making my special rabbit stew tonight!
Fin?

Oh my God,
Zecca. Your writing parallels a very 'prominent' novela, Prisionera and and
also the real life story of Kiko O. Shock after shock in Prisionera, shock
after shock in Kiko O's life.
Not only does
Pasion del Conejito equal, but it even surpasses Prisionera, in each and every
way. In Pasion del Conejito, shock after shock in the final episode. You took
me by surprise.
But of course,
Pasion del Conejito is number one with me. So sorry it had to end that way.

Final Episode of Danny the Bunny!
Author: Zecca (---) Date: 09-27-04 20:29 PDT
Thanks Zalez,
for your kind and insightful words.
Throughout
"Pasión del Conejito" I have tried to stick to the definition of
parody - "the conveyance of two simultaneous but contradictory messages –
it must target the work but be apparent that it is not the original."
If you look back
at the other 17 Danny the Bunny posts, you'll see that I've tried to parody
both the show and the behind the scenes events (Danny being replaced by a new
bunny and Jalebate & Pate doing a Route 69 commercial for Que Mart).
I'm sorry Kiko
chose to kill off Danny the Bunny. But I think interest in the forum in
"Pasión del Conejito" has pretty much waned the last month or so, so
I guess it was time for Danny to go to that big bunny hutch in the sky.
Of course,
Daniela the Bunny, the Gitana porcelain bunny goddess, could always arrive in
Faux Florida, searching for Danny's murderer....
... or Jalebait
could find out the reason she is so promiscuous is because of the rabbit blood
that flows through her veins (recall that she and Danny the Bunny are siblings
- the buck teeth gave it away).
So many
unresolved plot threads, so little time.
R.I.P. Danny the
Bunny

Zecca, I admit I
was shaken by this post. The fluffy little guy was fun and often lightened the
obscurity of the actual program on this forum. To see him now as an entrée
bothered me more than I ever imagined it would, given the carnage on
Prisionera. Did something really happen to him on the show? I have stopped
watching.

ITA, Kathy.
but as it
happens, poor Danny the Bunny actually did die (see Maris' summary below my
request, a few threads further down).
Re: Whoa! Now

Kathy, most of
your questions are answered in my previous post
but the short
answer is I decided to kill him off in Pasión del Conejito because (1) yes,
they killed him on the show (even showed the corpse!!!) and (2) nobody (except
B) seems to be reading my Pasión del Conejito posts.
You wrote:
"To see him now as an entrée bothered me more than I ever imagined it
would, given the carnage on Prisionera." Yup, that's what I was aiming
for, parodying the carnage Kiko has unleashed and outdoing him one step
further.
Re: Whoa! Now this hurt. Author: zalez3 (---) Date:

Well, Zecca, you
succeeded in your aim at parodying the carnage of Prisionera. I, for one, was
shocked and very saddened.
I also enjoyed
reading all your episodes of Pasion del Conejito. It was a lot more fun to
follow than watching Prisionera. Can Danny the Bunny come back to life in a
further future episode of Pasion del Conejito? Pleeease, Zecca.

I will accept
the blame for failing to post. Many times, before I stopped watching the
novela, I would be so disgusted by what I had seen, that I would read, chuckle
and leave. I want you to know Pasión del Conejito was appreciated and I will
never look at bunnies the same way again. But...forgive me if I pass on the
