En su juventud, trabajó como sirvienta. Llega a ser dueña de una prestigiosa casa de modas. Vive amargada por haber abandonado a su hija y no le presta suficiente atención a su esposo.

2º fase (Helena Rojo) - Apesar do sofrimento de ter abandonado sua filha, Luciana se transforma em uma proprietária de uma loja de roupas de grife. Ela se casa com André, a quem ama muito, porém nunca tem muito tempo para ele. André é um ator viúvo que tem um filho chamado Vítor Manuel. De seu casamento com Luciana, nasce a filha Elizabeth.

At one point, agrees to marry Alonso because of his love and support and the knowledge that he is dying. In the end, learns who her real parents are and forgives them both.

Juan de la Cruz [JDLC] - Sacerdote que vive grandes conflictos cuando se entera de que --- como resultado de una relación amorosa que tuvo en su juventud, antes de irse a estudiar al seminario --- es padre de una hermosa joven. son of AJ. before entering the seminary, succumbs one night to the charms of Luciana, a maid in his house. doesn’t learn that she became pregnant until his daughter, Cristina, was grown up. never seems to fully understand the depths of depravity into which his mother has fallen. In the end, he, Luciana and their daughter Cristina are able to forgive each other.

Lizbeth Duval - hija de Juan Andrés y Luciana, novia de Mauricio. wild, proud, selfish. becomes paralyzed in a car accident. falls in love with and marries Artemio. surgery is unsuccessful and, very unusual for a novela, she remains paralyzed in the end. But she and Artemio are happy and adopt a child.

Madre de Cristina. hides the secret of the child she gave away from all but Miriam. the novela is essentially the story of how she unknowingly makes her own daughter’s life miserable by denying her the love of her adopted son Victor Manuel, how she meets JDLC again, looks for and, near the end, finds her child. Her marriage is almost destroyed by the affair Andrés has with Lorenza, helped along by Nicolas and Ofelia who, unknown to her, hate her. in the end, she saves the life of Cristina, reconciles with her husband and all her children.

Nicolás - actor who has always envied Andrés. amante de Tamara and father of her child. has always hated Andrés because he “stole” both the women he loved in his life (Barbara and Luciana) as well as roles he wanted. pretends to be a friend to Andrés and Luciana; the truth doesn’t come out until near the end of the novela. takes Ofelia as his accomplice. also uses the increasingly unstable Tamara to effect his revenge. is killed by Tamara in the last episode during a performance of Otello.
