Barnette: A brief synopsis about "Tres Mujeres" (Not really a
summary)... by Robyn Barnette Hi, Shannen, "Tres Mujeres" is a really strong and serious novela
that you really have to pay attention to in order to understand. The novela
approaches strong subjects such as neurosis, infidelity, and marriage. I have
seen small previews of it on another network, and as tremendous a story that it
is, "Tres Mujeres" is one that people will be talking about. This novela
would be perfect for a Sociology class at college. The lives of the three women are as follows (taken from an
article I wrote about this novela earlier this year): - Fátima Uriarte (Karyme Lozano): She loves nature intensely. She
is respectful with the form of thinking of the people. The sinus of her family
grew, in which the social standards are more important than communication and
love, motivates through which it has conflicts upon trying to reconcile both
points of view. With the result that marriage is not her goal, Fátima wants to
get married and have a family. -
Barbara de Espinoza Uriarte (Erika Buenfil -- I think this is the name of the
character she plays): She is inflexible and demanding with herself and her
resemblances. She repeats without questioning traditional schemes imposed by
her mother. She is discreet and represses her sensuality and her desires. The
obsession to have a son has turned Uriarte into a neurotic woman, which causes
constants to her problems with Mario (Alejandro Tommasi). - Greta Saraldi de Uriarte (Norma Herrera)
is an arrogant woman from a good family. She follows the social rules of the
family faithfully. Her philosophy in life is how much you have, how much is
valuable. She likes to demonstrate her domain. Her objective is to conquer the
admiration of the social medium in which she develops. And to top it all, she
is in bitter favor of a loving relation that branded her in her youth. The lives of these three women will untie a
story with love, deceit and treason, in which they will be surrounded by the
spouses Mario (Alexander Tommasi), Gonzalo (Patricio Castillo) and Adrián
(Sergio Sendel), as well as Daniel (Alexis Ayala), Sebastián (Jorge Salinas)
and Federico (Pedro Armendáriz).

desean. Esta telenovela narra cómo
estas protagonistas están sujetas a las normas sociales que les impedirán vivir
y amar como lo desean; al igual que refleja a quienes alguna vez han vivido un
amor que llegó fuera de tiempo. Fátima
es la más joven de la familia Uriarte, constituida por su madre Greta, su padre
Gonzalo y sus hermanos Bárbara y Santiago. La familia Uriarte tiene una armonía
y comunicación aparentes pero en la intimidad, solo se respira el desamor, la
envidia y la frustración. Fátima solo cuenta con el apoyo de su padre, mientras

old style summary doesn't work too
well. I ran some of the scenes together by topic. Anyway, here's what I
came up with. -Erick
In the opening scene, Fátima and Adrian
are having a romantic dinner. He asks her to close her eyes as he gives her a gift: an engagement
ring. He declares his love for her. Later, he shows her the place where they will be leaving, and
off camera, they make love, and for her it's the first time. He tells her it was marvelous, and that he
hopes she never forgets him. Barbara
is at her room. Mario (her husband) returns after puting their daughter to sleep.
Barbara tells her husband she plans to
go to the doctor tomorrow. Mario gets amorous, but Barbara doesn't want to do it that night. He get upset about
leading their love life by the a doctor's planned schedule. He tells Barbara to forget being a mother
again, but she cannot. Fátima returns
home and tells her father to take care of his health. She also about him about
her engagement with Adrian and that he
bought an apartment for them. The next morning, Greta (Fátima's mother) and Fátima's father have an argument about his
attitude with their son Santiago. Greta
spoils Santiago, and Fátima's father prefers Fátima as being the more
reponsible one. Fátima walks in and
shows the engament ring to her mother. She compliments in and begins a materialistic rant which includes a lecture
on making sure her daughter signs and gets the
apartment for herself before marrying. Fátima's dad gets a bit upset.
Greta hopes Fátima's upcoming marriage
is as good as her sister Barbara's.
Barbara is at the doctor's office. He suggests more studies, and also
for her and her husband to have
relations before her visit. The doctor also wants Mario to show up to the next
visit. Adrian shows up with a bunch
of flowers. She tells him she has to leave cause she has an appoinment with her thesis advisor. Brenda walks into Adrian's office with
some papers for him to sign. She updates Adrian on Don Alfonso's (a high ranking guy at the office)
medical conditions. He comments that if anything happened to him, he'd likely get the vice-presidency. They agree
to go to lunch and he brushes a kiss at
her. Andrea (Fátima's friend) and
Fátima are having coffee and she tells Andrea about her "first time. She was nervous about it, but she's content
and she's really in love with Adrian. Andrea is skeptical and warns her friend about Adrian's jealousy,
and that maybe he'll want her to quit her job at the store. Fátima loves her work and won't give it up for
anything.
Greta wakens her son Santiago. He asks
for money, and his Mom agrees. She tells him to wake up. Later, his Dad walks into his room and sees Santiago
oversleeping and walks away. The maid
tells him that the new flowers he sees are from Adrian to Fátima. He
comments on the fact that at least
Adrian has a a reponsible job. In another room, Greta is holding a ring and has
a flashback of when she received it.
The maid comes in and tells Greta to forget "that"man and forget the
past, but Greta tells her that memory
is what keeps her going. Adrian and
Brenda are having lunch. Fatima and Andrea go into the restaurant and even
though full, they manage to get in. As
they go upstairs, Fatima realizes her diamond on the ring is missing and she misses seeing Adrian kissing Brenda, but
Andrea manages to see it, and Adrian sees them
both. He runs up and tries distracting Fatima, and he makes some excuses
and convinces Fatima to leave. Andrea
walks up and talks to Brenda to try to find info from her, and she finds out
that Adrian's excuses were lies. Later,
Adrian get into an argument about the incident. Barbara tells Mario about her doctor's visit. Her husband
doesn't care for her doctor's orders and
regimentation of their love life. Barbara later goes to talk to her
priest and she tells him she's angry with
Mario's disintereted attitude toward her attempts at pregnancy. She also feels
dissapointed with God for not giving
her another child. The priest counsels her not that maybe it's God's plan,
and to be careful not to destroy her
marriage in her goal.
Fatima and Andrea look for and find her
diamond in the car. Andrea later tries asking Fatima what she would think if she ever found her lover
cheating. Fatima tells Andrea she'd only believe if it was for certain, and that she'd cut off the
relationship if she found out. Later, Andrea follows Brenda at the office (they both seem to work at the
same office). She overhears and sees Adrian in his office making up with Brenda (and making out). She
runs out and runs into a coworker. Adrian sees the commotion, and asks the coworker who it was, and the coworker
tells him it was Andrea. He gets a
determined look on his face.
Fatima tells Renata (her university advisor) about her previous night,
and shows off her ring. Renata
congratulates Fátima on her thesis work and tells her how proud she is
and how she wishes she'd had a daughter
like Fátima. Fátima reciprocates the feeling. Santiago and friend get surprised drinking at home by his Dad.
He makes up some excuse about not being
at University, and his friend leaves. His father reproaches him on his
drinking. Andrea drops by and tells
Fátima that she caught Adrian cheating. Adrian walks in just as she says it, and he denies the whole story. He makes
up the excuse that he was comforting Brenda, who's father happened to be ill and at the hospital. Andrea convinces
Fátima to go with Adrian to the
hospital, and Adrian initially agrees, but he tells Fátima that such a
lack of trust will affect their
relationship. Fátima relents and decides not to go. Adrian leaves.
Andrea tries to counsel her friend, but
Fátima tries to explain things away and tells her friend that maybe she
misunderstood what she saw. Andrea gets
frustrated and leaves. On the phone later, Adrian reproaches Fátima for her lack of trust, and they seemingly make
up. Her dad hears her on the phone and after the call, he tells her he will miss her deeply when she
leaves when gets married.
Don Alfonso is busily working. Adrian
seees him, and they talk. Adrian reproaches the older man for his "old-fashioned" way of running
the business. Adrian wants to modernize, but as he says so, Don Alfonso gets some chest pains or something
and collapses. Adrian calls an ambulance. Later, famliy and a friend drop by the hospital and Adrian relates what
happened. Barbara and Mario make up,
and she tries to pursue her doctor's orders to have relations with her husband before her appointment. Mariop gets
defensive and reproaches her wife for making their love life a mechanical thing.
Adrian apologizes to Brenda in the parking garage, and tries to use Don
Alfonso's illness as his excuse for
leaving her in the office before. Brenda accepts because she knows he'll be the
next vice-president when Don Alfonso
kicks the bucket. In the office, Andrea tries to confirm the story about Brenda's dad being ill with Brenda,
but Adrian walks in time to keep the story going. He and Brenda go to his office and she tells him
her dead has been dead for three years. He's willing to buy her help. Andrea stays outside the office
and asks other co-workers about Don Alfonso and at the same time, she finds that Brenda's father
has been dead for three years.

el Privilegio de Amar has been postponned (I won't say cancelled, one has to be
optimistic!). For those of you who have not been watching 3M, but plan to
start, here's a summary of the novela to date: As the name implies, Tres Mujeres is the story of three women:
Greta and her daughters Fatima and Barbara.
Fatima has just graduated from college and is making plans to marry her
long time beau, Adrian. She is torn between her feelings of duty and propriety
and her increasingly independent nature. Her mother, Greta, and her sister,
Barbara, are pressuring her to make a good marriage. They want Fatima to follow
in their footsteps as wife, homemaker, mother, and society diva. Fatima, however, is very committed to her
career as an art history major. She is an artist in her own right and works at
a gallery owned by Renata. Renata is a very together forty-something divorced
woman. Her philosophy that women should be independent and not feel bound by
traditional concepts of virginity, marriage and submission is very appealing to
Fatima. Fatima is not sure of her feelings toward Adrian and doesn't want to end
up in a loveless marriage like her mother. Fatima's best friend, Andrea, also
echoes Renata's ideas. Andrea works for Fatima's fiance, Adrian, and knows that
he's a jealous, violent and ruthless man who is having an affair with his
assistant and crony, Brenda. Fatima's other supporter is her father, Gonzalo.
Gonzalo is a caring and understanding father who only wants the best for his
daughter. He urges her to follow her own heart and do what she thinks is
right. Fatima's dilemma is further
complicated by the fact that she had sex with Adrian. After this happened ,
Adrian's attitude changed dramatically. From a sweet, solicitous beau, he
became abusive, jealous and chauvinistic. He violently forced Fatima to have
sex a second time. After this incident, Fatima really began to question her
feelings for Adrian. Then she meets Sebastian. Sebastian is the son of don Federico, owner of the bottling
plant where Adrian works. He was the lovechild of Federico and a Canadian
woman, who he married just to give Sebastian his name. Sebastian moved to
Canada with his mother, who later committed suicide. After her death, Federico
put Sebastian in boarding school and supplied him with material needs, but no
affection. Sebastian has been studying and working in Canada, where he lives
with his girlfriend Verania. Don
Federico wants to reconcile with Sebastian. He is also urged to do so by his
long time lover, Renata. He travels to Canada and tries to make amends - he
wants to make up for his past indifference and have his son take over the
business. Sebastian goes to Mexico for a visit and is convinced by his father
to work at the plant for six months and then take it from there. Sebastian's
girlfriend, Verania, decides to stay in Canada because of her modeling career. At
the plant, Sebastian is named Vice President, much to Adrian's chagrin. Adrian
had slyly forced the retirement of the previous VP by provoking a heart attack,
and seemed to be a shoo-in for the position until Sebastian entered the
picture. Fatima first sees Sebastian
outside the gallery, when Sebastian tries to stop a violent discussion between
Adrian and Fatima. They later meet and are instantly attracted to each other.
Both are in other relationships, however. A confused Fatima, pressured by her
mother and Adrian, goes through with the official engagement to Adrian.
Sebastian, on the other hand, makes a quick trip to Canada to pick up his stuff
and walks in on Verania and her trainer making love. A disillusioned Sebastian
returns to Mexico, realizing that his relationship with Verania was actually
over long time before he caught her in bed with another man. Sebastian sets
about to woo Fatima, but he is very careful not to pressure her because of her
commitment to Adrian. Fatima is confused. She is not sure of her feelings
towards Sebastian, but knows for sure that she does not love Adrian and tries
to break off the engagement of several occasions. She finally manages to make
Adrian see that she is serious, provoking such rage in him that he storms off in
his car and has an accident that lands him in the hospital. However, both Greta
and Adrian refuse to believe that Fatima is serious about not marrying Adrian
and continue with plans for the wedding.
Barbara is
Fatima's sister. She has been married to Mario for about ten years and has an
eight year old daughter, Montse. Barbara has been desperately trying to have
another child. She has been undergoing a series of fertility treatments and is
so obsessed that she has alienated her husband and ignores her little girl.
Mario is worried that their marriage is in serious trouble and continually
tries to reason with Barbara. He feels, and rightly so, that it's more
important that she be a good mother to her daughter than it is to have another
child. Meanwhile, Barbara convinces herself she is pregnant, in spite of a
negative pregnancy test. Mario's cousin, Daniel, is visiting during this time.
Daniel lives and works on his grandfather's cattle ranch. He is a relaxed,
charming and modern man who does not hold to the traditional macho way of
thinking. He is totally perplexed by Barbara and her obsessions and they are
constantly at odds with each other during his visit. Daniel starts to feel
sorry for Barbara when he has to deal with Barbara's grief when she finds out
she's not pregnant after all. Underneath his charming exterior, Daniel is
tormented by the death of his fiancée in a riding accident three years prior.
In spite of a series of casual affairs, he desperately wants a lasting
relationship, but is convinced that love and marriage aren't in his future. His
current lover is Maricruz, a sweet girl from the neighboring ranch. When Barbara's daughter Montse is diagnosed
with asthma, Mario thinks it's a good idea for Barbara and Montse to get out of
the polluted air of Mexico City and go spend a month at Daniel's ranch. Barbara
is against the idea, even after her plans to take Montse to Canada fall
through. Barbara is a stubborn woman
with very old fashioned ideas of propriety and duty. She is shocked when Fatima
confides that she is no longer a virgin. Barbara is convinced that marriage to
Adrian is Fatima's only option. She doesn't change her mind even when she
catches Adrian kissing his assistant Brenda, stating that Fatima still has to
marry Adrian, in spite of his cheating, because she slept with him before
marriage. Barbara is very much her mother Greta's daughter. Greta is shallow, strident, class-conscious
and selfish. She and Gonzalo have a sham of a marriage and are constantly at
odds over how she's raised her daughters and over her constant spending , in
spite of the precarious state of his business. Greta's favorite is her no-good
son Santiago. After six years of university, Santiago is finally expelled for
trying to fix his grades. He steals money and jewelry from his mother to feed
his gambling and drinking habits. He has a gold-digger girlfriend named Carla,
and his latest scheme is to steal money from his father's account to finance a
trip to Cancun. Gonzalo, though, thinks Santiago has turned a new leaf, and is
trying to be a good son by working for him at the family resin factory.
Fatima's friend, Andrea, is hopelessly smitten with Santiago, even though she
knows he's a cad. There is a
mysterious man in Greta's past, however. She has a man's ring that she caresses
on the sly. An old flame has also entered Gonzalo's life. Gonzalo's health is
not the best, but finding his old friend has put some zip in his step. Adrian is back on his feet after spending three
weeks convalescing. At work, he's been replaced on the current advertising
campaign by Sebastian. With Brenda's help, he's doing everything he can to
undermine Sebastian's authority. He insists that the best model for the
commercial is #4, who just happens to be Verania, Sebastian's old girlfriend.
He's also been searching high and low for Fatima, who has not had the courage
to see him or confront him with her feelings. Fatima has been going out with
and getting to know Sebastian during this time. When Adrian finally finds
Fatima at home, she again refuses to marry him. A livid Adrian blames Sebastian
and raises his arm to hit her, only to be stopped at the last minute by
Gonzalo. To be continued

El Universal Summaries starting 3/21/99: Adrián entrega el anillo de compromiso
a Fátima. (They become lovers for the first time.) Fátima tells her
friend Andrea. They enter a restaurant where Andrea sees Adrián kissing
Brenda After she sees them kissing
again, she tells Fátima, and Adrián walks in. He says he was just comforting
her. Fátima believes Adrián. Bárbara is obsessed with having a child but
doesn’t want to make love with her husband except according to the medical
treatment plan. (She and Mario have an adopted girl.) Gonzalo tiene
problemas con Greta por su indiferencia durante 23 años. Unknown to him,
Greta has never forgotten the love of her youth. Greta está segura de que su
hija Fátima sería incapaz de entregarse antes del matrimonio. Greta’s
favorite child is Santiago, a neér do well. La obsesión de Bárbara provoca
dudas en Mario. Renata congratulates Fátima for her thesis. Adrián tells
don Alfonso that the business must change to survive. Alfonso has a chest pains
and Adrián calls an ambulance. Gonzalo
cancela las tarjetas de crédito de Santiago. Adrián pide a Fátima vuelvan
amarse. Santiago reprueba los exámenes. Federico le hace ver a Sebastián, que
tiene obligación social y moral con la empresa.
Sebastián no
convence a Verónica de que lo acompañe a Detroit. Fátima se enoja con Adrián,
porque la forzó a hacer el amor. Santiago roba a su mamá para comprar los
exámenes. Bárbara se porta amable con Mario. Greta cree que Bárbara está
embarazada. Santiago tiene problemas con Verónica. Greta espera el nombramiento
de Adrián. Gonzalo se entera de que expulsaron a su hijo de la escuela.
Sebastián admira la escultura que hizo Fátima. Andrea ama a Santiago.

Diario de
Yucatan, 3/28/99 - Fátima se enoja porque Adrián platica sus intimidades a la
secretaria. Greta sospecha que Bárbara
está embarazada y ésta le pide que no diga nada hasta que Mario regrese. Adrián se emociona cuando Federico le
ordena convocar a junta para designar al nuevo vicepresidente de la
compañía. Santiago tiene problemas con
Verania y coquetea con su antigua novia, que ahora es la mejor amiga de
Andrea. Fátima dice a Adrián que irá
con su padre ese fin de semana al rancho de un amigo. El trata de impedírselo,
pero ella le advierte que no permitirá que controle su vida. Federico le insiste a su hijo que ya es
tiempo de que tome el lugar que le corresponde en la empresa. Federico trata de
vencer el resentimiento de Sebastián, quien de momento se niega a aceptar el
trabajo que le ofrece. Tomás dice a
Santiago que puede hacer que apruebe sus materias a cambio de una buena
gratificación para el maestro. Fátima
advierte a Adrián que no permitirá que maneje su vida. El la cela con Daniel y
le "ordena" que regrese del rancho.- 5 de la tarde, Canal 9 (6 de

El Universal, 3/29/99: Alejandra simula preocupación por Sofía.
Elsa se hace la víctima y le echa la culpa a Andrea de que Juan Carlos no esté
con ella. Federico pide a Mercedes y Laura que lo ayuden con Sofía. Federico le
dice a Alejandra que no la quiere. Leticia sale libre y Sofía le da una carta

hospital. Montse tiene asma, Bárbara no la quiere llevar al rancho. Sebastián
le declara su amor a Fátima. Maricruz confiesa a Daniel que lo ama. Mario
aconseja a Fátima que no se case con Adrián.

4/18/99 - Sebastián se opone a que contraten a Verania, como modelo. Fátima se
niega a ver a Adrián. Adrián le da dinero a Santiago para que lo ayude con
Fátima. Adrián descubre que Verania era la amante de Sebastián. Bárbara no
acepta ir al rancho. Gonzalo descubre que Santiago no llegó a Morelia. Adrián
confiesa que Fátima ya tuvo relaciones con él. Maggie insulta a Fátima. Gonzalo
se entera que Santiago le robó un cheque y se fue a Cancún.

Yucatan, 4/16/99 - Adrián se mete a la casa de Gonzalo con las llaves que le
dio Santiago, ve que Fátima se está bañando e intenta ultrajarla. Jesusa, sin
quererlo, salva a la joven, quien acusa a su hermano de prestarse a la infamia
de Adrián. Bárbara está indecisa y no
sabe si debe cumplir la promesa que le hizo a Montse de ir al rancho. Argumenta
que tiene que arreglar el problema de Fátima y Adrián, pero Mario la compromete
a viajar con ellos. Santiago, en
estado de ebriedad, cuenta a Carla que le atormenta la muerte de su amigo
Manuel, ocasionada por la imprudencia de obligarlo a manejar alcoholizado. En el rancho, Vicente y Daniel bromean con
Lucía, quien está emocionada por la llegada de Montse, a quien quiere como si
fuera su nieta

has just brushed her teeth and is getting ready for bed when she's suddenly
grabbed by Adrian, who has sneaked into her room. Fatima is shocked and scared.
Adrian drops the house keys and Fatima recognizes them as belonging to
Santiago. Adrian first pleads with Fatima and then suddenly grabs her and
throws her violently on the bed with every intention of raping her. At that
moment, Jesuza runs in and manages to scare off Adrian. She comforts a
distraught Fatima. At Mario and
Barbara's house, Barbara has just returned from the theater. Mario comments
that Montse is really looking forward to the trip to Daniel's ranch. Barbara
remarks that she may not be able to go because Greta needs help in dealing with
Fatima. A disgusted Mario asks "What about your daughter". He accuses
Barbara of being a bad mother and he's sick and tired of defending her to
Montse. After attempting to rape
Fatima, a crazed Adrian goes to the apartment. He remembers their lovemaking
and is becoming more and more demented. "Am I going crazy?" he asks
himself. The chandelier seems to be really bugging him. He suddenly sees
Fatima's painting on the wall and proceeds to wildly smash it to smithereens. In Cancun, Santiago and Carla are at a
disco. Santiago is drinking and brooding. He tells Carla he's thinking about
his friend Manuel. He tells Carla the story about how he had a car accident
when coming home from a bar and his friend Manuel died. Shallow Carla just
brushes it off and tells Santiago not to think about it, that it wasn't his
fault. Montse is in her flower costume.
Mario tells Barbara they'll be going straight to the ranch after the school
festival. Barbara hems and haws, but finally relents and agrees to go. Sebastian
and Fatima are spending the morning at Chapultepec Park. Sebastian asks her
about her relationship with her mother. Fatima says it's not good because she
can't be like her sister Barbara and Greta has trouble accepting this.
Sebastian responds that at least she has a wonderful and supportive father.
Unlike his own relationship with Federico, which is rather strained. Sebastian
tells Fatima he's always felt neglected, but now he's happy that it finally
seems he is important to his father after all. They then lighten up and flirt a
little bit. Adrian tells Brenda that
Fatima is the only woman who interests him. "And who interests
Fatima?" asks Brenda. "She only has eyes for me" responds Adrian.
"Oh, really?" retorts Brenda. She goes on to ask him where he's going
and why. Adrian responds that suffice it to say he's going to Canada. At Chapultepec Park, Fatima and Sebastian
are having a blast riding the roller coaster and eating cotton candy. At home, Gonzalo is on the phone with the
Morelia office. He and Jesuza are concerned because Santiago hasn't arrived yet
and think something may have happened. He tries to locate Santiago by calling
his cell phone and Antonio. At the
beach in Cancun, Santiago is on the phone with Gonzalo. He gives him a line about
how his car broke down and he's stuck in a pueblucho in the middle of nowhere.
He tells Gonzalo he'll get to the recinera ASAP. He hangs up and he and Carla
burst out laughing. Greta is in her
living room chatting with Montse. She throws cold water on Montse's excitement
about going to the ranch by telling her it's full of dust and ants. Gonzalo ask
Mario about the Guadalajara project. Before Mario can answer, Fatima comes in
and says hello. The family chats happily.
An enthusiastic Sebastian is gushing about Fatima and the good time they
had at Chapultepec. Federico is surprised because he thinks Fatima and Adrian
are still engaged. Sebastian tells him not any more and admits he's fallen hard
for Fatima.
At lunch,
Mario informs the family that he lost the Guadalajara project. Barbara starts
to sputter but is interrupted by Jesuza saying that Adrian is at the door.
Gonzalo refuses to allow him into his house. Greta goes outside to talk to him.
A very sly Adrian says that he has something to tell her that impinges on the
honor of her family - that he and Fatima must marry because they've been
intimate. Fatima has just approached and hears this exchange. A livid Greta
asks her if this is true and slaps her. "Better dead than dishonored! I
order you to marry him!" she screams. Fatima again refuses to marry Adrian
and says no real man discusses intimacies. As Greta continues to scream, a
frustrated Fatima says "Don't you understand? I won't marry him!"
Greta says that she will or she'll tell Gonzalo. Fatima begs her not to because
of her father's ill health. Greta doesn't care and storms away. Fatima slaps
Adrian. Greta has stormed into the
dining room and drags Gonzalo outside, followed by Fatima. She tells Gonzalo
that his daughter has hit bottom - that she and Adrian have been intimate. She
goes on to say that Adrian is doing the honorable thing and is still willing to
marry Fatima, but Fatima refuses. Gonzalo supports Fatima by saying that Fatima
has to do what she thinks is best. He goes on to say that Adrian is at fault
because no man should discuss his intimate relationships in this way. Gonzalo
is upset but continues to support Fatima in her decision not to marry Adrian.
In the car, Mario and Barbara discuss the
scene back at the house. They suppose it was because Adrian told them he and
Fatima had had sex. Barbara goes on to ask Mario why he hadn't told her about
losing the Guadalajara project. "Because you never asked me and you're not
interested in me - there is no communication between us anymore" Mario
replies. Federico and Renata are
discussing Sebastian and Fatima's relationship. Federico hopes it doesn't
worsen the already strained business relationship between Adrian and Sebastian.
Renata clarifies to Federico that Fatima had broken up with Adrian the day of
the accident, but Adrian refused to accept it. The phone rings. Renata picks it
up and, again, there is no one on the line. She looks worried and Federico
offers to have her number changed. Back
at the Uriarte garden, Fatima approaches Gonzalo and asks for forgiveness.
Gonzalo says he's disappointed in her. Fatima explains that she thought she was
in love, but now knows she made a mistake. Gonzalo says that we all make
mistakes, but that the situation is very uncomfortable for him. He was brought
up a different way and can't change his belief that a woman should remain a
virgin until marriage. Fatima replies that she's not trying to change is way of
thinking, but trying to explain that she thought Adrian was the man of her
life. Gonzalo says he understands - that he was also young and passionate at
one time. He goes on to say that her happiness is the most important thing and
he loves her as much as always. That she is still, and always will be, his
little princess.
Henry has
arrived to visit Sebastian and gives him a letter from Verania. As Henry goes
into the other room to shower, Sebastian reads the letter. Verania tells him
she misses his coffee and orange juice (models always think about food, you
know). She goes on to ask what she can do to be with him again because she
still loves him. The letter doesn't seem to affect Sebastian one way or the
other. Up in Canada, Adrian has come
knocking on Verania's door. He asks her about her relationship with Sebastian.
Verania tells him they've been living together for two years and they're
planning to move to Detroit. She says she wants to join him in Mexico and
that's why she applied for the modeling job. Adrian tells her he'll convince
them to cast her in the spot and she can surprise Sebastian in Mexico. At the gallery, Fatima tells Renata about
her conversation with Gonzalo. Fatima doesn't want Sebastian to find out that
she slept with Adrian. Renata thinks otherwise and says that lasting relationships
only happen if you confide in one another. Besides, she says, it's important to
know how he feels about sex and his attitudes towards women.. Night has fallen and Mario, Barbara and
Montse have arrived at the ranch. They are welcomed warmly by Daniel, the
abuelo and Lucia. Barbara coldly refuses all offers of hospitality and takes
Montse to bed. Mario says to forgive her, it's the full moon….just kidding! The
three gents glance up at the moon and laugh.
Sebastian has called the house and asks for Fatima. Greta yells at him
and tells him to get lost. Back at the
ranch, Barbara infoorms Daniel that she doesn't want Montse around any animals.
Daniel looks at her as if she's from outer space and retorts that it's about
time she started thinking about her daughter and husband. He bluntly tells her
that if she's going to live here, she has to try to get along. Back at Greta's, she and Maggie are going
over wedding details as Fatima walks in. Maggie starts to discuss the wedding,
but Fatima interrupts and abruptly tells her there will be no wedding. Before
Greta can say anything, she tells Maggie that she and Adrian have had sex. And
that he is such a little man that he's told her parents. Maggie is aghast and
slaps Fatima.

una escena de celos a Daniel. Gonzalo sale a pasear con su amiga. Fátima
termina su relación con Sebastián. Salvador dice a Renata que la sigue
queriendo. (Renato continues to refuse to tell Federico that she is being
threatened by her former husband). In the hospital where Gonzalo has been taken
after discovering that it was, indeed, his son Sanitago who cashed forged
checks, Federico reconoce a Greta como la mujer que amó. Santiago es
detenido. Bárbara confiesa a Daniel que lleva mala relación con su esposo.

Yucatan, 4/25/99: Fátima discute con Verania, quien se burla de la primera
diciéndole que se irá de viaje con Sebastián.
Maricruz le hace una escena de celos a Daniel, porque anda muy atento
con Bárbara. Esta los escucha y decide cambiar su actitud, sobre todo porque en
el rancho ya sospechan de la relación.
Brenda advierte a Adrián que ya se cansó de ser su
"incondicional" y le exige que se hagan novios oficiales, que
anuncien su compromiso, si quiere que le entregue la clave de acceso a los
archivos de Sebastián. Gonzalo
descubre que su hijo Santiago le roba, tiene un ataque de dolor y se desmaya.-
Henry and
Andrea are very attracted to each, go walking in the park, and kiss. Later, on
a date, he tries to make love to her but she runs out. Sebastian explains to
him that Mexican women like Andrea are different. Henry apologizes to her and
she explains that she is a virgin and wants to be one when she marries. She
accepts his apology. Greta and Federico talk. He thought she was dead, which is
what she had Jesusa tell him when he left her for another woman, but she lies
and says somebody else (Gonzalo?) made up the lie. She refuses to tell him why
she married Gonzalo, only that she had powerful reasons.

le comenta que Sebastián hace buena pareja con Fátima, y que Carla le parece
insignificante. Diego ha hecho buena amistad con Fátima, con quien come en un
restaurante cuando aparece Sebastián acompañado de Carolina. Fátima se encela. A
pesar de que Sebastián quiere demostrar a Fátima que la ama, con apasionado
beso, ella le prohíbe volver a tocarla.-

10/18-20/99. Daniel confesses to his mother that he and Bárbara love each
other. She is shocked; Mario is his cousin. But he says this is something they
must resolve themselves. They become lovers. Meanwhile, Mario is being
blackmailed by Jackie, the one-night stand he had. He and Gabriel talk: he says
that he would never forgive Bárbara if she were unfaithful and she would never
forgive him if she knew.

5/9/99: Gonzalo regresa a México knowing he has a heart problem as well as
an ulcer and must be operated on. Greta seems secretly happy at the news of the
gravity of his illness. Verania regaña a Adrián. Maricruz sospecha que hay
algo entre Bárbara y Daniel. Greta se hace la liposucción. Salvador quiere
matar a Federico. Santiago presenta a Carla como su esposa. Carlos asalta a
Carolina (on orders of Adrian so Verania will be the model rather than
Carolina. Sebastian leaves immediately for the coast to help her). Bárbara
confiesa que es amante de Daniel. Sebastián quiere hablar con Fátima. Fátima le
cree todo a Sebastián. Santiago tiene 48 horas para pagar sus deudas.

Yucatán, 5/9/99: Santiago presenta a Carla como su esposa ante toda la familia,
Greta se pone como loca y Gonzalo quiere sacar a la pareja. Carla se da cuenta de que Santiago la engañó
al decirle que la familia de él la aceptaría.
Adrián comenta a Fátima que Sebastián anda con una modelo. Ella no hace
caso de los comentarios y va al cine con Diego

sobre la muerte de Gonzalo. Daniel está dispuesto a aceptar el hijo de Bárbara.
Sebastián es herido por Salvador y Fátima lo auxilia. Federico pide a Adrián
que lo ayude a salvar la compañía.

Yucatan, 5/15/99: Greta dice a Federico que Bárbara es hija de ambos, pero que
Gonzalo no lo sabe. Mario comenta a Luis que ya le depositó el dinero a Jackie
para ver si así lo deja en paz. Adrián reclama a Greta que no haya hecho nada
para que Fátima vuelva a su lado y ella le contesta que Sebastián es mejor
partido que él y que es mejor que se olvide de Fátima. Por Petra, Maricruz se
entera de que Daniel ya no está en su casa y le dice que cuando fracase su
relación con Bárbara ella lo estará esperando. Fátima lleva a Sebastián al aeropuerto y ahí Verania le dice que
ella se encargará de alegrarle la via a Sebastián en Cancún. Verania niega a
Sebatián que haya estado antes en las playas del Caribe. Adrián busca a Fátima
con el pretexto de comprarle una escultura. Bárbara dice a Daniel que su amor
no tiene futuro, pero él la toma en sus brazos y la hace suya una vez más. Verania trata de que Sebatián la lleve a
cenar, pero el prefiere recluirse en su habitación. En la filmación, Verania
abraza a Sebastián y él le dice que no lo haga. Santiago escucha cuando Greta
dice a Jesusa que una de sus hijas es de Federico, no de Gonzalo. Montse
telefonea a Mario y le pide que se las lleve ya a Guadalajara. Bárbara entra y
le pregunta con quien hablaba.-

queda inconsciente. Federico descubre que Brenda y Adrián están aliados para
perjudicar a Sebastián. Bárbara sospecha que el hijo que espera es de Daniel.
Adrián miente a Fátima. Bárbara le pide a Mario el divorcio. Dora asegura que
Carla está embarazada y no le dará el divorcio a Santiago. Adrián culpa a
Brenda de todo. Claudio acepta ser socio de Fátima en la resinera. Sebastián
duda que Federico sea el padre de Bárbara.

Yucatan, 5/23/99: Greta asegura a Santiago que el padre de Bárbara no se llama
Federico. Fátima pide ayuda a Vicente para tratar de salvar el negocio de la
resinera. Fátima avisa de la situación
a Renata, quien renuncia a la galería para dedicarse a los asuntos de la
compañía. Sebastián reclama a Adrián
que esté actuando en su contra y le advierte que nunca llegará a ser
vicepresidente de la empresa.
Sebastián confiesa a Fátima que la mamá de él intenta separaralos. Ana reclama a Greta que diga a Bárbara que
no es hija de Gonzalo y le grita que sólo lo hace para chantajear a Federico.-

información acerca de Greta. Jackie manda un anónimo a Bárbara. Sebastián acusa
a Brenda. Adrián engaña otra vez a Fátima. Bárbara insiste en divorciarse.

Yucatan, 5/30/99: Vicente corre a Daniel del rancho, mientras Bárbara quiere
ayudar a Mario. Este la rechaza y se desahoga, pues cree que no es suyo el hijo
que va a tener su esposa. Bárbara
quiere llevarse a su hija. Mario la acusa de infiel, perola niña los escucha se
angustia, sufre otro ataque de asma y decide irse con su papá. Santiago descubre que Carla y su madre sólo
quieren sacarle dinero y las corre de la casa. Luego se queja de que nadie lo
quiere, pero su hermana Fátima lo consuela.
Bárbara está desesperada, quiere irse de México para que Mario no le
quite a sus hijos. Fátima informa a
Sebastián que Verania vive en el departamento de Adrián y le pide disculpas, ya
sabe que las fotos que le tomaron al joven en Cancún fueron ordenadas por
Adrián. Sebastián teme volver con Fátima porque siempre duda de él. Bárbara dice a Mario que recibió un anónimo
acusándolo de tener otra mujer, el se hace el desentendido. Bárbara insiste en divorciarse, Mario
acepta, pero hasta después de que nazca el bebé. Greta cita a Sebastián urgentemente, él le dice que duda que
Federico sea el padre de Bárbara. No se dan cuenta que Fátima los está
escuchando, la joven pregunta ¿quién es el padre de mi hermana?-

Bárbara que escapen, ella confirma que no está embarazada. Adrián ofrece a

a Federico que vuelvan a ser amantes. Adrián quiere seducir a Brenda. Mario
amenaza a Daniel. Verania descubre el pasado de Carolina.

Yucatan, 6/6/99: Bárbara no acepta que sea hija de Federico, exige a Greta la
verdad y le reprocha que haya sido tan dura con sus hijas. Greta se defiende y
dice que Gonzalo era un desgraciado que inventó la versión de un supuesto
suicidio. Renata confiesa que ella
sabía de la relación entre Greta y Federico y asegura que ambos se siguen
viendo a escondidas. Sebastián habla
de amor a Fátima, quien le contesta que también lo ama pero que su relación es
imposible por el momento. Greta pide a
Federico que vuelvan a ser amantes, propuso matrimonio.- pero él le dice que ya
no la ama. Sin embargo, Greta dice a Fátima que el joven le

Andrea que sea su amiga. Sebastián logra atrapar a Carlos. Santiago se enfrenta

Daniel tendrá que hacer una nueva vida si se casa con Bárbara. Adrián paga la
fianza de Brenda. Adrián intenta violar a Fátima. Andrea está indecisa entre
Santiago y Angel.
Diario de
Yucatan, 6/13/99: Fátima pide a Claudio que no se precipite, ya que ella sigue
enamorada de otro. Claudio sabe que se trata de Sebastián. Greta ofrece a Fátima comprarle un estudio
lejos de la casa, supuestamente para que se sienta libre, pero en realidad lo que
quiere es alejar a sus hijos para que pueda ver a Federico. Los judiciales detienen a Brenda y Adrián
le manda un abogado. Verania amenaza a Adrián con revelar todos sus negocios
sucios si no ayuda a Brenda. Ana
cuenta a Renata la verdadera historia de Greta y Federico y le pide que se unan
para desenmascarar a la mala mujer.
Fátima se arrepiente de haber dudado de Sebastián, pero no lo busca
porque teme que ser rechazada. Luego llega Sebastián con el ojo morado, Fátima
lo acaricia con ternura y él la besa, mientras Renata los contempla emocionada.-

6/20/99: Mario amenaza a Bárbara y a Daniel. Sebastián visita a Fátima y le
dice que se peleó con Adrián. El conserje encuentra a Adrián malherido y es
atendido por paramédicos. Carolina visita a Verania y le advierte que no trate
de chantajear a Sebastián. Adrián llama a Fátima diciéndole que la ama y muere.
Renata entera a Greta que Sebastián es sospechoso por la muerte de Adrián.
Claudio le declara su amor a Fátima.
Diario de
Yucatan, 6/20/99:Detienen a Sebastián, acusado de asesinato, aunque él asegura
que es inocente. Brenda se asusta al
saber que Adrián está en la Cruz Roja. El joven insiste en que Sebastián trató
de asesinarlo. Adrián toma la mano de Fátima, le dice que "la
perdona" y muere. Mario se alarma
cuando se entera que Montse preferiría morir si sus papás se divorcian.
Telefonea para hablar con la niña. Bárbara se entristece porque Mario ni
siquiera pregunta por ella. La mujer aprovecha para decirle que le dolió mucho
la separación y que ahora no está segura de que ame a Daniel. Brenda se emborracha, confiesa que ella
mató a Adrián y exige a Lilí que la ayude o también la matará

Yucatan, 6/26/99: Renata ofrece su casa a Fátima luego que Greta la sacó de la
suya. También Claudio invita a la joven a vivir con él. Greta saca a Santiago de su casa porque le
robó sus joyas. El le pide trabajo a Antonio, quien acepta contratarlo. Bárbara dice a Sebastián que ahora sí se
hará los análisis para saber si realmente es hija de Federico. Federico aclara a Greta que entre ellos no
hay ni habrá ninguna relación de amor. Ella trata de dejar mal a Renata, pero
él no la toma en cuenta. Entonces Greta exige a Bárbara que le diga a Federico
que quiere vivir con él y su mamá. Greta intenta convencer a Federico para que
la deje vivir con él, pero el joven la saca delante de Sebastián. Greta,
enfurecida, atropella a Renata.-

11/15-19/99. Greta becomes increasingly crazy. Barbara and Federico have
blood tests and learn that Greta lied; Bárbara is Gonzalo’s daughter. Ana has a
letter that proves that Greta knew it and shows it to Federico. Santiago moves
in with the family of Antonio and the nurse who heard Greta tells Gonzalo that
Bárbara wasn’t his daughter. The nurse tells Santiago who tells his sisters.
They all confront Greta and she denies everything. Santiago breaks definitively
with Carla. Vernaia is still in the hospital, disfigured by Adrian. She
agrees to have plastic surgery and apologizes to Sebastian for the harm she did
him. Fátima accepts Claudio’s proposal
of marriage.

7/4/99:Rodrigo aconseja a Fátima que no debe casarse hasta estar segura que ya
no ama a Sebastián. Lucía pregunta a Daniel que si cree que Bárbara es su mujer
ideal. Daniel y Maricruz se encuentran. Paloma, sobrina de Claudio, pide a éste
que le dé trabajo para que pueda terminar sus estudios. Bárbara dice a Mario
que tal vez sí puedan darse una oportunidad por Montsé y su hijo. Daniel busca
a Montsé.
Diario de
Yucatan, 7/4/99: Federico admira a Gonzalo, le duele que haya muerto por un
engaño y promete desenmascarar a Greta.
Los muchachos exigen a Greta que confiese la verdad, pero ella sólo dice
que no han sabido entender su "sacrificio". Greta quiere vender la
resinera para despojar a sus hijos de todo.
Fátima decide confesar su amor a Sebastián, pero cuando se dispone a
hacerlo él está acompañado de Carolina. Sebastián quiere seguir a Fátima, pero
ella le dice que sólo fue a informarle que se casará con Claudio. Bárbara siente celos cuando ve a Mario con
Olivia. Enojada se va a San Hipólito, donde Daniel le dice que ahí construirán
su nuevo hogar. Ella se muestra insegura, ya que no quiere tener más hijos. En la boda de Angel y Andrea, Claudio se da
cuenta que Sebastián y Fátima se miran con amor desde lejos. Siente celos y
pide a Sebastián que se aleje de la joven porque se va a casar con ella.-

7/11/99: Bárbara teme que Mario haga algo en contra de Daniel. Santiago
descubre que Carla trabaja de desnudista en un cabaret. Maricruz asegura a
Daniel que lo ama con toda el alma. Fátima salva a Santiago de morir ahogado.
Sebastián confiesa a Fátima que es su socio en la resinera. Maricruz quiere
vivir con Daniel y tener un hijo suyo.
Diario de
Yucatan, 7/11/99: Fátima asegura que está muy enamorada de Claudio, que es el
hombre que la hará feliz. Por su lado, Sebastián desearía que Fátima le diera
al menos una esperanza, para que pudiera confesarle su amor y cancelar la boda
que le parece absurda. Santiago se
mete borracho a la alberca, sufre una congestión alcohólica y pierde el
conocimiento. Claudio logra que lo internen en una clínica de rehabilitación. Rosa María, madre de Mario, llega a México,
luego de enterarse de los problemas entre su hijo y Bárbara.-

11/21-26/99. Federico asks Renata to marry him and agrees to adopt a child.
Bárbara decides to definitely divorce Mario. Maricruz tells Rosa Maria about
Bárbara and Daniel. Fátima tries to stop Sebastian at the airport but just
misses him. When Claudio tries to make love to her, she refuses...until after
they are married. Greta apologizes to Renata when she hears of the engagement. El Universal, 7/18/99: Sebastián le propone
matrimonio a Fátima. Bárbara le dice a Fátima que ya no soporta a Mario.
Federico le dice a Renata que ha desistido en la idea de adoptar un niño. Mario
le dice a Montse que Bárbara es perversa. Maricruz le pide a Daniel que
platiquen sobre su relación. Claudio acosa a Fátima para que tengan relaciones,
pero ella se opone. Diario de Yucatan,
7/18/99: Fátima habla con Renata cuando llega Esther y le advierte que Claudio
no es buena persona como aparenta. También le dice que su hija Macarena no
quiere que él se case. Sebastián se
encuentra con Verania y le cuenta que ya no hay ninguna relación entre él y
Fátima. Bárbara y Mario discuten. El le
dice que ya no le dará dinero. Con
lágrimas en los ojos, Montse reclama a Bárbara que ya no la quiera y le avisa
que se irá con su papá. Rosa María
insulta a Bárbara y le dice que Mario le quitará la casa donde vive y también a
sus hijos. Montse escucha la discusión y le comienza un ataque de asma. Daniel llega a casa de Bárbara y lo recibe
Mario, quien le dice que si se conforma con las "sobras" le deja a la
joven, pero le advierte que algún día ella le hará lo mismo que a

USA. 11/21-26/99. El Universal, 7/25/99: Claudio le reclama a
Paloma haberlo delatado con Fátima. Sebastián se entera que Fátima no se casó
con Claudio. Fátima le pide a Greta que no intente vengarse de Claudio. Bárbara
le informa a Greta y a Fátima que se irá a vivir al rancho con Daniel. Fátima y
Sebastián se reconcilian. Fátima le dice a Greta que Federico y Renata se
casarán pues adoptarán un bebé. Bárbara está a punto de dar a luz. Diario de Yucatan, 7/25/99: Claudio reclama a
Paloma que lo haya delatado con Fátima y la culpa de que lo dejaran plantado en
la boda. Federico advierte a Claudio que la familia Uriarte no está sola, que
no permitirá que la dañe. Sebastián se entera que Fátima no se casó. Bárbara informa a Greta y Fátima que se irá
a vivir al rancho con Daniel. Greta se disgusta y advierte a Bárbara que no
permitirá que viva en amasiato con Daniel.
Bárbara dice a su mamá que en cuanto se divorcie de Mario, se casará con
Daniel, para que no nadie se avergüence de ella.-
USA. 11/26/99. Rinconlatino: Subject: Friday's Summary I & II Author:
Lorena Date: 11-27-1999 17:53 Inside the courthouse with Fatima and
Barbara at her side Greta starts a shouting match with Rosa Maria, as Mario and
Mario’s lawyer try to help Rosa Maria. Barbara’s lawyer comes and calls Barbara
and Mario to another room around the judge’s headquarters. There, while Mario
and Barbara are alone, Barbara tells Mario that because she doesn’t want to
hurt Montse anymore than he’s already hurt, she’ll give her custody to Mario.
She says she is doing that because that is what Montse wants. She says, “Let’s
get divorced ‘de comun acuerdo’ instead of fighting over everything.” Mario
asks about the baby. Barbara says that Mario can see the baby as much as he
wants and when the baby is older, they’ll arrive at a reasonable solution.
Mario accepts. At the ranch the doctor
tells Lucia and Daniel that Vicente will get better and because his blood
pressure jumped too high, he fainted; however, he should rest and avoid getting
too emotional. Later Vicente tells Lucia that he wants her to call Rosa Maria
to the ranch. At the court, Mario and
Barbara come out of the room. Barbara tells of her decision to Greta and Fatima
in tears. Greta and Rosa Maria go at each other again. Montse brings her report card to Barbara
which isn’t very good. Montse says she isn’t studying because the other
children make fun of her because parents getting divorced. Then Barbara tells
her of her decision that she’ll let her live with her father. - Barbara tells
Montse she'll let her live with her dad. Greta tells B. to behave at Fati's
wedding and not to tell anybody she is getting a divorce. Daniel calls her and
tells her his grandpa was sick but that he is better now. He says he'll be
going to the wedding with her. - Fatima
tells Barbara that Federico wants her to call him because he'll help her with her
job. The hair dresser and "manicuristas" arrive. - Fatima is ready in her bedroom. Everybody
tells her she looks beautiful but she doesn't look too happy. - Rosa Maria tells her dad he needs to take
care of himself and find a new doctor. He says his real illness is that
"his soul hurts" from seeing his daughters fighting. He asks them to
make up and they hug. - Greta gives
more money to the man who's helping her with Salvador to bribe the guards.
- Paloma
scolds Claudio for betraying Fatima with the business. She can't believe he's
only interested in the resinera. He tells her that he can make a lot of money
by marrying her and he will never forget he saw her kissing Sebastina recently.
Fatima has arrived at Claudio's house to have her pictures taken and was on her
way up the stairs when she heard the whole conversation. Paloma is dissapointed
at Claudio and tells him so. He goes on to say that Fatima is not the innocent
woman she portrays and that who knows with how many men she's slept. - Fatima goes to the parking lot where
Claudio has his collection of cars. The photographer is getting ready. Andrea
tells her she's going to change for the wedding. Claudio arrives and tries to
kiss Fatima but she tells him she just put her makeup on. During the picture
session, Fatima is very stiff and serious. Claudio looks at her annoyed. - Sebastian reminisces about the times he's
had with Fatima and decides it can't be too late for them. - Fatima asks Barbara if she had her doubts
when she was going to get marry. B. tells her she didn't because she had been
with Mario for years and it was the next logical step. "But if you have
doubts don't marry him," she tells her. Santi walks in and tells his
sister she looks beautiful and he's nervous for having to walk her down the
aisle. They all agree that Gonzalo should have been there. Greta walks in the
room and says that's why they need a new man in the house. She tells them that
seeing Fatima in her dress makes her want to be married again. They are all
supportive to her except for Santiago.
- Esther tells
Claudio their daughter doesn't want to put her dress on or go to the wedding.
He tells her he'll make her. Esther makes some remarks about how typical that
is of him and that she has a feeling Fatima won't let him get away with
everything he wants. - Fatima is in the
car going to the church. Sebastian is driving along yelling at her not to get
married. Both cars stop and Sebas gets in Fatima's car. He begs her not to get
married and tells her they can still make it. She says "but I have to go to
the altar" Sebas kisses her and tells her he loves her. She admits she
loves him too. - Barbara arrives to the
church with Daniel. Greta tells him to get lost. - Sebastian watches from a corner as Fatima and Claudio kneel on
the altar. Angel sees him and goes to talk to him. Sebas says he had to see her
for the last time and leaves. - Carla
is at the wedding with her lover giving weird looks to Santiago. - The priest asks Claudio if he accepts Fati
as his wife. He says yes. Then he asks Fatima. Fati turns towards Claudio and
tells him: "I will only accept if you admit in front of God and everybody
that you are not using me for the resinera" Claudio doesn't know what to
say and tells her to stop that scene. The guests all look at each other uncertain
of what's going on. The priest tries to talk to Fati but she tells him that
this is very important. Greta approaches her and tells her that everybody is
watching her and to stop that. Fati tells Claudio she heard his conversation
with Paloma and she knows he's a liar.
- Santiago confronts Claudio and tries to fight him. He tells him who is
he to judge him after all he's nothing but an alcoholic, his mom a loonatic and
his sister an adultress (is that a word?) "adultera" in Spanish. - Fatima leaves upset and Andrea and Renata
go after her.
- Rosa
Maria and Lucia get in an argument over Barbara and their father tells them
that subject should be prohibited between them. He says that if they want to
get along they better not talk about Barbara.
- Fatima is crying in her room and tells her friends that that was a
sign that Claudio wasn't the man for her. They praise her on her courage
because not many people would have been strong enough to do what she did. Greta
walks in and Andrea and Renata leave. She talks about what scandal this is
going to be but she says she thinks she calmed the reporters at the wedding.
Then she starts treating Fati like she was a little girl saying she wants to
put her in bed. - Daniel tells B. he wants
her to move with him. He tells her there's nothing to keep her here and that he
will take her to see Montse any time she wants. - Montse tells her dad about the wedding and tells him she
ignored Daniel all the time. - At the
ranch, Vicente hears about the Fatima news and calls Claudio to insult him but
he doesn't answer the phone. - The
Uriartes are trying to figure out what to do with the business. Greta reads the
gossip column in the paper and is embarassed about the scandal. Barbara arrives
and tells them she's decided to move with Daniel. Greta yells that in her
family nobody has lived in sin before and that Monste will never forgive her.
B. says she'll try to gain her back. -
Renata tells Fede about the adoption process. He thinks it's too soon to do it
and they should enjoy each other a little longer. - Sebas finds out that Fati didn't get married and wants to call
a business meeting with all parties involved. Angel and Andrea tell him Claudio
was making business for his own resinera by selling resins at a lower price to
Fati's clients. Sebas says he won't let him destroy the Uriarte's
business.
- Barbara
tells Montse of her decision to move with Daniel. Monste says that if she
leaves, she never wants to see her again. - Maricruz tells Rita that Barbara
better not move to the ranch or she'll make her life a living hell. - At the gallery, Rodrigo is talking Fati
into applying to an Art School in New York.
- Sebas goes to warn Claudio that he is going to sue him. Claudio tells
him that without his contacts they won't be able to compete with him then he
tells him to leave before he "kicks him out" - Daniel goes to the Uriarte house. Greta
tells him he is shameless to propose Barbara to move with him. He tells her he
loves her and is excited to hear Barbara has accepted. Greta tells her that if
Barbara moves with him, she'll disinherit her. B. walks in and tells her she
doesn't care about the money and she won't loose Daniel. They kiss. - Renata meets a little girl at the
orphanage. - Santiago asks Paloma to
help him sue Claudio for fraud but she declines. - Fatima is still talking to Rodrigo when someone brings and
package for her with a note. It says something like: Maravilla, do you accept
to marry me and share your life with me? Fati smiles as a mariachi walks in
playing "Si nos dejan". Sebas walks behind them with flowers and
kisses Fatima. To be continued......

Maricruz culpa a Gabino por el incendio. Fátima quiere convencer a Greta de que
consulte un psiquiatra. Fátima se va de luna de miel. En la cárcel matan a
Salvador, por encargo de Ricardo. Los mafiosos quieren secuestrar a Federico.
Maricruz le hace brujería a Gonzalito.
Diario de
Yucatan, 8/1/99: Carolina se niega a casarse con Sebastián, mientras Verania
amenaza con suicidarse si él no la acepta como amante. Claudio pide a Paloma que le ayude a que la
resinera de los Uriarte se vaya a la quiebra. También ofrece dinero a Greta a
cambio de que Fátima se case con él.
Daniel y Mario pelean, supuestamente por el amor de Maricruz. Bárbara se
enoja y reclama a Daniel que tenga la ropa de la joven en su casa. El se
disgusta y se va a la cantina, donde Maricruz le mancha la ropa con pintura de
labios.-

12-07-1999 03:02 Here's tonights summary... Andrea tells Angel of her guilt at keeping the secret of
Carolina's baby from Fátima. At the wedding store, Carolina barely avoids
running into Fátima. Babs and Mario get
into one of their typical arguments, and Maricruz walks in and invites Mario to
stay with her. He accepts, and MariCruz kisses him on the lips. Sebas visits Carolina and makes his
"theoretically hypothetical"'marriage proposal. She gets insulted by
it (rightly so) and by his lack of love in the proposal. Sebas doesn't want the
child to pay for their errors, but to Carolina, the child is not an error. Maricruz and Mario discuss their poor luck
in love. Mari tells Mario of the arson attempt and tries to pin the blame on
Anselmo, who according to Maricruz, has a thing for Barbara and is bitter at
Barbara for rejecting him. Back at the ranch, Babs makes some insulting
comments about Maricruz to Daniel. Montse walks in while they're kissing, and
she acts coldly toward Daniel, who leaves. Outside, Anselmo tells Rita that he
plans to tell Daniel the truth, and Daniel overhears and wants to hear all of
it. Anselmo finally tells Daniel about Mariruz's arson attempt. Daniel storms
out and Rita and Anselmo are left wondering which of them will be losing their
ranch job. Greta sees some of her
"wedding"trinkets on a tray on her bed, and she has a flashback of
her past with Federico. She starts putting on the trinkets and singing a
wedding march, and is interrrupted by Jesuza. Greta finally blurts out her
obsessions for Federico and vows to marry him no matter what. Sebas asks his father for advice, and
Federico suggests the truth, but Sebastian's wishy-washiness wins the day yet
again. Fátima and Santiago talk to Babs
about Greta, and they both get a look at their new nephew whom, Barbara informs
them, will also be their godchild. Montse indirectly calls her Mom a cow.
Santiago gets a call from El Chino's aide, who proposes some sort of illicit
deal for Santiago. Santiago is relunctant to return to his old life, but the
aide makes a veiled threat on Palomita. Santiago walks out and tells himself he
wants a peaceful life.
Daniel shows up at the bar and grabs
Maricruz, punches Mario (who's trying to be chivalrous), and accuses Mari of
the arson. She tries to pin the blame on Anselmo. Mario breaks a bottle and
tries to stab Daniel, but Mr. Ranchhand successfully knocks out Mario. Daniel
warns Maricruz to never approach Barbara again, and being the sociopath she is,
Maricruz taunts a fallen Mario for his lack of fighting skills. Babs promises Fátima to try to get Greta to
continue her psychiatric treatments. Mario walks in in a rage for getting
pummeled, and hands Babs a pair of boxers of Daniel's that he found at
Maricruz's place. He storms off...
Claudio drops by the Recinera office to see Fátima, but Paloma tells him
she's away at a ranch. Claudio tells Paloma that he wants to see the Recinera
go bankrupt cause it would force Fátima to ask for his help, but Paloma doubts
Fátima would ever do that. Claudio wants Paloma's help to steal the Recinera
client list, and makes some veiled family threats to Paloma. He leaves, and a
scary associate of El Chino drops by with a small box that he wants Paloma to
give to Santiago. He too makes some veiled threats and scares poor Paloma. Anselmo denies being an arsonist to Daniel.
Daniel believes him and he tells Anselmo about Barbara's suspicions about
María's death and Maricruz's role in it. Turns out that Anselmo has himself had
suspicions, and he tells Daniel that María's saddle had been tampered with the
day of her death, and that Maricruz had been seen hanging around María's horse
that day. Babs comes out with Daniel's boxer shorts and the happy couple get
into a nice argument about the role of fidelity. A slighted Daniel storms off
with Anselmo to go smoking...
Mario tells Vicente about his sorrows,
his anger, and his hatred and bitterness. He tells the older man that he plans
to go away with Montse, and Vicente wishes peace for his grandson. Maricruz
drops by as Mario leaves, and tries to convince him to stay. He refuses, and
Maricruz insults him as being a weak man.
Babs tells Fátima that she hates living in the ranch, and that Daniel
doesn't want to move elsewhere. Fátima tells Babs that she seems to be making
the same mistake as before in centering her universe on a man. Santiago drops
by, but he gets a call from the "associate" reminding Santiago of El
Chino's wishes. The "associate" threatens Paloma, and hangs up before
Santiago can respond. Montse has a talk
with her brother about her past happy family. Babs and Fátima drop by, and Babs
promises to visit Montse. The little girl is still confused and unhappy about
the breakup of her parents, and Babs promises to find a way to spend time with
her daughter. Claudio thinks to himself
about getting revenge on Fátima.
Greta's lawyer comes by with a document that she can use to protect
herself from her kids'attempts to have her committed. The lawyer suggests a
lawsuit against her kids, but shehjas other plans. The lawyer leaves after
Greta avoids the germs on his hands. Claudio then drops by and asks for Greta's
help in convincing Fátima to marry him, offering Greta a lot of money for her
help. Sebas looks over Claudio's
agreement, and he gets angry at Claudio trying to sell the company shares to
him at twice their market value. He vows not to let Claudio get away with it.
Back at the Recinera office, Santiago
drops by and asks the secretary for some paperwork. The secretary also barely
remembers to give Santiago a small box that Paloma wanted him to have. He reads
the message inside, a message telling him to deliver something. Santiago
murmurs to himself about not wanting to go back to his old life. Lucia visits Babs and offers to bring the
new mother a meal. She also tells Babs to give Daniel some space. Babs gets a
bit miffed with jealousy, and then tells Lucia about Mario being with Maricruz.
Lucía assures Babs that regardless of everything, Daniel loves her. Back at the
bar, Anselmo tells Daniel that Mario left earlier, and Daniel reacts by asking
Anselmo to go get a Mariachi Band. Elsewhere in the same bar, Maricruz pays
some trampy looking woman some money, and the woman then drops by Daniel's
table and begins singing and kissing him. Maricruz captures these wonderful
sounds on the telephone, with Barbara on the other end. Fátima is a online chat with DaVinci, who
somehow now has plans to visit Mexico for a course in sculpture. Fátima won't
be around to meet him because of her impeding marriage and honeymoon, but she
promises to continue chatting with him after her return. DaVinci goes off with
another of his tirades against artists who sell their works (ironically
forgetting his namesake). He also tells Fátima about an exhibit of his in
Brooklyn... ;-) Daniel (with that damn
cigar) sings to Barbara (forgetting some of the words), and Babs looks out the
window and seems pleased. Vicente and Lucia get annoyed at the ruckus, and
Barbara comes out as well, but on seeing the lipstick on Daniel's face, she
slaps him... -Erick

12-08-1999 01:20 *****SUMMARY – TUESDAY, 12/07/99***** Barbara slaps Daniel while he’s bringing her a serenade – he’s
drunk and has pink lipstick all over his face. Daniel is stunned and wonders
aloud to Lucia and Vicente why she hit him. Lucia tells him that he’s got
lipstick all over his face and Vicente sarcastiscally asks Daniel if he kissed
the barman. Daniel’s response is “ay, abuelo . . .” and Vicente shakes his head
disgusted at Daniel. ? Fatima comes in
to Greta’s bedroom and reminds her that it’s her last few days at home and she
wants to get along with her during that time. Greta tells her that they (her
children) are the ones with all the problems and not her. Fatima tells her that
they would never do anything to harm her, that all they want is for her to be
well and not do things that she will later regret. Greta is skeptical of this
and tells Fatima that now she’s going to tell her that they all love her and
they’re all saints. Fatima denies this and tells her that they’re very worried
about her. Fatima also tells her that they’re not going to insist that she
check into the psychiatric clinic, but she asks her instead that she see the
psychiatrist at home instead. Greta insists she’s well and she doesn’t need
help – she claims that the one that is crazy is the psychiatrist because she’s
gotten divorced three times already – how can someone like her help her if she
can’t handle her own life? Fatima insists that she does need the psychiatrist
but not because Greta is crazy, but because she doesn’t want anything bad to
happen to her. Greta gets tears in her eyes and asks Fatima if she would really
be hurt if something bad happened to her and Fatima reassures her she would.
Fatima goes on to tell Greta that she knows Greta’s not bad, that it’s been
others that have taken advantage of her kind heart and that she won’t ever let
anyone harm her – she’s been the best woman, the best wife, the best mother,
but they haven’t valued her. Greta is glad that Fatima recognizes all of this.
Fatima tells Greta that she now knows Greta’s been the victim and she asks
Greta to let her protect her, take care of her and stop any harm from coming to
her. Greta agrees and begs Fatima to take care of her – she lets Fatima hold
her as if she were a child – as Greta continues to say that everyone, including
Barbara and Santiago, have always tried to harm her. Greta suggests that she
and Fatima become allies against everyone so they won’t harm her. Fatima
follows Greta’s line and tells her they will be accomplices and no one will be
able to beat them. However, Fatima stresses that Greta still needs the
psychiatrist’s help. Greta changes the subject and tells Fatima that now that
she’s marrying Sebastian and Federico will be her father-in-law, she could
intercede on her behalf and Federico could be persuaded to break up with Renata
and marry Greta. Fatima tells Greta that of course she will do this, she will
make sure that her father-in-law knows what a good person Greta is and she will
somehow see to it that Federico goes back with Greta. Greta is very grateful to
Fatima and thanks her for loving her so much. Fatima then tells Greta that all
she has to do is obey her in everything she tells her so that Federico and
Sebastian will support them. Greta once again agrees and lets Fatima hold her
again.
Barbara is crying in her bedroom thinking to
herself how badly Daniel has paid her back after all she’s given up for him;
she thinks she should have stayed alone and just devoted herself to her
children. Daniel knocks on the door and asks Barbara to let him explain.
Barbara doesn’t open the door and tells him to go away, that she doesn’t want
to hear any explanations, doesn’t want to talk to him and that he should go to
“those women” to console him. Vicente walks up and tells Daniel to wait ‘til
tomorrow to talk to Barbara because he won’t get anywhere tonight and he should
just let her rest. Vicente also advises Daniel to get some rest himself because
he really needs it. ? Daniel goes back
to the cantina to speak to the singer and demands to know why she got him all
full of lipstick. The singer tells Daniel that she was only doing her job and
he should demand the explanations of the person that paid her to do it. It
finally dawns on Daniel that Maricruz is behind all of this and the singer
confirms it. She tells him that now she’s indebted to her and Daniel takes out
some bills from his pocket and pays her off.
Fatima tells Sebastian over the phone how
worried she is over Greta and tells him that she made Greta believe that she
was the victim and everyone else was the “bad guy”. Sebastian tells her that
this game could be really dangerous because even in her demented moments, Greta
is very intelligent and she could figure out what’s going on. Fatima answers
that she has no choice because she needs Greta to trust her so that she’ll go
back to therapy and she’ll ask Jesuza, Barbara and Santiago to support her in
this plan. Sebastian wants to know when Fatima will have Greta admitted to the
psychiatric clinic and Fatima tells him she’ll do it when they get back from
the honeymoon. Sebastian suggests that Barbara and Santiago handle the
admission to the clinic, but Fatima tells him that Barbara can’t do it because
she’s trying to build her life out at the ranch and Santiago is not ready to
handle this burden. Sebastian tells Fatima that she’s always taking care of
everyone else’s problems and Fatima says she feels better doing things that
way, but when she’s on their honeymoon, she will recharge her batteries so she
can handle everything that’s going to happen with Greta. Sebastian tells her
that in their honeymoon, he won’t let her think of anyone or anything else,
except himself, and he, in turn, will think only about her. Daniel POUNDS on Maricruz’s door and, when she finally opens, he
takes her by the arm and tells her that he’s going to file a complaint against
her so that they will open up an investigation. Maricruz asks him what for and
Daniel tells her that it will be for setting fire to the cabin and for causing
Maria’s accident. Maricruz tries to pretend she doesn’t know what Daniel is
talking about, but Daniel is not buying it. He tells her he’s been putting 2
and 2 together and Barbara’s suspicions are probably right and warns her to be
careful. Maricruz responds that “that snotty blonde” (referring to Babs, of
course) has poisoned Daniel against her. Daniel ignores this comment and tells
Maricruz that he already knows that he gave the cantina singer money to get
lipstick all over him, but her intrigues won’t separate him from the woman he
loves, instead now he knows what type of woman she really is. Maricruz, in a
raised voice, tells Daniel not to insult her. Daniel, who has also raised his
voice by this point, tells her she’s been warned – if she does something else
to Barbara, he will open an investigation against her.
The next day, Fatima tells Andrea how cool it
is that she had a chat with this guy from New York over the internet. Andrea
agrees that this is exciting and tells Fatima that there are even webpages on
sex and that she’s going to get herself a computer as well. Fatima hugs Andrea
and tells her how much she’s missed her. Andrea tells her she’s been very busy
at work and today she was able to come see her because the meeting at the plant
finished early and since her appointment with the gynecologist is still an hour
and a half away, well, she decided to come and visit. Fatima tells Andrea how
glad she is that Andrea is going to see Dr. Balero and asks her how it’s going
with the birth control pills. Andrea tells Fatima that it’s not only her birth
control pills, but that she’s also having problems with Angel. Fatima asks her
if it’s over Santiago again, but Andrea tells her that they just haven’t really
hit it off well. Fatima asks her if she’s talking about “in bed” -- Andrea
confirms it and jokingly tells Fatima, “why do you think I want a computer?”
Fatima tells her that, seriously, she will try to help her any way she can.
Andrea tells her that, after waiting for so long, it’s been really frustrating
not to feel good with Angel. Fatima reminds her that when she came back from
her honeymoon, she was happy and Andrea tells her that she was happy with the
simple fact of finally having had sexual relations and, since both she and
Angel were rookies, she thought things would change and they would eventually
hit it off with time, but . . . the truth of the matter is, that she hasn’t had
an orgasm yet. Fatima is surprised at this and Andrea asks her how it feels to
have one. Fatima says that she’s only ever felt it with Sebastian, it’s really
unexplainable, it’s like a bunch of sensations all at the same time . . . like
an explosion. She tells Andrea that it’s beautiful and wonderful. Andrea tells
Fatima that she doesn’t feel anything; that she and Angel have bought several
books and have followed the instructions step by step (geez!) and nothing
happens. Andrea further wonders if this is punishment for having gone out with
so many guys and now she’s going to remain frigid for the rest of her life.
Fatima tells her she is exaggerating and tells Andrea to calm down.
Lucia tells Daniel that he’s got to convince
Maricruz that it’s all over. Daniel says he’s already told her a thousand
different ways and he doesn’t know if she’ll listen to reason. Further, Barbara
has told him a few things that are making Daniel doubt Maricruz in other ways –
Daniel tells Lucia that Anselmo saw Maricruz the day of Maria’s accident
playing with the horse and the saddle that Maria used that day and that Anselmo
checked the saddle and that it was loose and Maria would have fallen with any
slight movement of the horse and the snake story is probably just an excuse.
While Lucia looks at Daniel with disbelief, Daniel goes on to tell her that
Anselmo also saw Maricruz hanging around the cabin the day of the fire and that
everything points to Maricruz being the guilty party. Daniel thinks that
Maricruz is not in love with him, she’s just obssessed. Lucia insists that
Daniel talk to her, and Daniel tells her that he already did, but she denied
everything and acted all righteous. Lucia tells Daniel she will talk to
Maricruz and, if it becomes necessary, she will forbid her from coming to the
ranch anymore. ? Santiago comes to see
El Chino and tries to give him back the business card holder with the drugs. El
Chino says that he can’t give it back, the instructions are in it, Santiago is
running late – the client called him and is waiting. Santiago tells El Chino
not to take him into consideration for this job or any other job in the future.
El Chino tells Santiago that whoever comes in to this business doesn’t go back
out, unless they (the mafia) decide that they should, but Santiago can’t decide
that on his own and he will obey El Chino. Santiago tells El Chino that he
can’t do it and asks him not to call him again. As Santiago is ready to walk
away, El Chino tells him that he’s not playing a game and that if he wants to
verify this, he should call his girlfriend at the resin factory and ask her if
she hasn’t noticed anything strange going on. Santiago calls Paloma on his cell
phone and asks her what she’s doing there so late. Paloma tells him that she’s
finishing up some documents that she hadn’t had the chance to finish yesterday.
Santiago asks her if she’s all right. Paloma answers that she is, but that
she’s worried because she thinks someone wanted to mug her because some guys
had followed her and they were still hanging around outside at the corner and
that’s why she hadn’t left. Santiago tells her not to move from there and that
he’s on his way – he hangs up the phone. El Chino tells Santiago he’s under
orders and he should know whether he’s going to comply – he slides the business
card holder across the table back to Santiago.
Elvia brings Paloma a cup of tea and Paloma
asks her if she knows if the guys are still hanging around outside. Elvia tells
her she thinks they’re still there, but she asked the courier/gopher to get a
police squad car to come by. Paloma tells Elvia that she already told Santiago
what’s going on and he asked her not to move from there because he’s on his
way. Elvia asks Paloma if she’s sure they were following her and Paloma says
she thinks so, but she may be getting a little paranoid. Elvia urges her to
drink her tea and leaves her some documents for Santiago and Sebastian to look
over – a list of clients that have placed orders since Claudio left the resin
factory. As Elvia walks away, Paloma picks up the documents, then puts them
back down, and says to herself that she can’t double cross either Santiago or
Fatima. ? Back at the ranch, Daniel
knocks on the door of Barbara’s room and asks if he can come in – Barbara says he
may since he’s already inside and it’s his house, not hers. Daniel comes in
with a bouquet of flowers and tells Barbara that it was outside, they it had
her name on it and the flowers were dying of cold, so he brought them in to her
– he places the bouquet on her dresser. Daniel turns to Barbara and asks her to
forgive him – he now knows what happened. Barbara sarcastically asks if all of
a sudden his amnesia has been cured. Daniel says it’s not amnesia and the
lipstick and makeup he found on his clothes belonged to the cantina singer.
Daniel explains that Maricruz gave the singer money to get her lipstick and
makeup on him without him being aware of it so that it would cause a fight
between them. Barbara tells Daniel she’s fed up with Maricruz, it’s always
Maricruz. Daniel tells her that they’ve got to be more intelligent than
Maricruz, but Barbara replies that Maricruz holds all the cards -- she has the
support of the town and takes every opportunity to cause problems between them.
Daniel tries to hug Barbara and she tells him to let go; she’s upset and has
had it. Daniel pleads with her to give it a try and love each other. Barbara
suggests that maybe leaving the ranch and going elsewhere where no one knows
them would be the solution. Daniel tells Barbara he can’t leave the ranch and
leave his mother and his grandfather on their own. Barbara insists she can’t
continue living there. Daniel asks her that if their love was strong enough to
beat Mario, why shouldn’t it be strong enough to beat Maricruz or anything else
– or is it that life with him is not what she had imagined?
Barbara reassures Daniel that life with him
is beautiful and wonderful, but not the place (referring to the ranch and the
town). Daniel wants to know what’s wrong with the place, and Barbara answers
that Maricruz won’t sit back and let them be and will continue to get the town
people against her. Daniel asks Barbara to stop thinking of Maricruz and tells
her that if they are united, Maricruz will sooner or later give up and stop
bothering them. Barbara tells Daniel that if Maricruz has waited for him since
Maria died, what makes him think she won’t wait longer? Daniel tells Barbara
that he already spoke to Maricruz and told her he will open an investigation
about Maria’s death and the cabin fire. He then tells Barbara that if she’s
willing to turn tail and run at the first obstacle in the road (sorry, bud, but
this is not the first obstacle!), then they’re in bad shape – there will always
be people who will try to separate them. Barbara insists that it’s not easy to
handle this situation, then leans over and kisses Daniel, asks him to forgive
her and asks for peace between them.
Santiago comes to Carla’s apartment and
demands to know why Carla didn’t tell him that Hector was involved with El
Chino. Carla tells him there are a lot of things she can’t tell him for his own
wellbeing. Santiago tells her that because of her El Chino is calling him
again, pressuring him and demanding that he deliver drugs – but he doesn’t want
to do that anymore, he’s changing. Carla apologizes and says that she called
him to help her out, but if they’re asking him to deliver drugs, then he should
do it. Santiago can’t believe that Carla is saying this to him – doesn’t she
remember how much he suffered because of that stuff? He tells her that he
doesn’t want to see her or hear from her again until they sign the divorce
papers. ? At the gynecologist’s office,
Andrea tells the doctor she was recommended to him by Fatima. The doctor asks
what birth control pills she’s using and Andrea gets the pills from her purse
and hands them to him. He asks her if she’s had a pap smear and she says that
it’s the first time she’s been there and she’s terrified. The doctor wants to
know who gave Andrea a prescription for the birth control pills and Andrea tells
him that she went to the drug store and there they recommended them to her
(things are sure different in Mexico!!!). The doctor tells Andrea that taking
birth control pills as if they were aspirin for a headache is not a recommended
procedure. Andrea asks what could happen – aren’t they all to avoid having
children? The doctor confirms this but tells her that exposing her hormones to
abrupt changes without having the correct knowledge could cause damage. Andrea
confesses that she’s never been to a gynecologist before because she is
terrified, but since she hasn’t been feeling well, she wanted to overcome her
fear, and there she is. The doctor asks her what’s going on. Andrea responds
that she doesn’t know if it all started when she started being sexually active
or when she started taking the birth control pills, but she just hasn’t felt
well. The doctor asks Andrea what her symptoms are and Andrea says she get
headaches almost every day, her legs not only hurt her but they get very
swollen, and she’s extremely irritable, especially a few days before her
period. The doctor asks her if this had happened to her before becoming
sexually active or taking birth control pills. Andrea says she’s always had
strong cramps and she always knew when “it” was coming because she would become
very sensitive, would cry over everything, become irritable, but never like
now. The doctor explains that sometimes a certain birth control pill works for
one woman, but the same one will have horrible effects on another. He then
tells her that he will have to give her a checkup – she should go to the
adjoining room, take off her clothes and put on a robe, and he and Margarita
will soon be with her. Andrea, who has this REALLY terrified look on her face,
asks “take off all of my clothes?”, and the doctor jokingly tells her she can
keep her shoes on if she wants. As the doctor walks out of the office, Andrea
sighs and tells herself this is what she hates about being a woman.
Lucia tells Fatima over the telephone that
she regrets she can’t make her wedding, but she will be on her annual trip to
the “Sierra Taraumara” – she tried to postpone it, but she couldn’t. Fatima
tells her that she’s very sorry to hear that because she’s very sure she will
be happy with Sebastian. Lucia tells her that if they have overcome so many
obstacles it’s because their love is stronger than the entire world. She then
wishes Fatima all the happiness in the world and tells her to fight to protect
what she worked so hard to attain. Fatima assures her she’ll do that and sends
her love to her and Vicente – and asks Lucia to remind Vicente and Daniel that
she expects them at her wedding. Lucia tells her that of course she will and
sends her blessings. ? Paloma is on the
phone with her mother telling her she will see how she can send her some money
when Antonio walks in and asks what’s wrong. Paloma tells him that her mother
is ill and that she needs to send her money – she’s in a delicate condition.
Antonio regrets that he’s not in a position to lend Paloma money to send her
mother, but Paloma says that she’ll figure it out with her paycheck. Antonio
suggests that she ask Claudio for the money and Paloma tells her that she
wouldn’t want to ask him for one more favor. Antonio says that since it’s his
sister, he doesn’t think he will say no. Paloma is skeptical and tells Antonio
that Claudio may come back and ask her to repay the favor – Antonio asks how,
and Paloma says she really doesn’t know, but she’ll see how she can handle it
on her own.
At the ranch, Barbara asks Lucia if she spoke
to Fatima and Lucia tells her that she already told Fatima she won’t be able to
go to her wedding. Barbara then asks Lucia if she goes to the “Sierra
Taraumara” every year and Lucia tells her that she’s been going every year for
the last 10 years for 2 to 3 weeks – she helps with literacy and also with
health issues. Barbara is impressed and Lucia tells her that she enjoys her
work very much, she likes feeling useful and she likes to help. Lucia asks
Barbara if she will return after the wedding and Barbara tells her that she
won’t; she will stay at her mother’s house while Fatima is on her honeymoon.
Lucia says that will work out because Daniel can stay with Vicente until she
returns. Barbara tells her she will be away for a month or longer because
Fatima and Sebastian are going to the Middle East and, while Fatima’s away, she
can’t leave Greta alone because she’s not well and she wants Fatima not to
worry during her trip. Lucia asks if that’s the only reason she’s staying in
Mexico City and Barbara tells her that she really doesn’t want to come back at
all until the house Daniel is building in San Hipolito is finished because
she’s not wanted in town and she’s not going to risk herself or her child’s
life. Lucia asks if she still has a notion that Maricruz is plotting something
against her and Barbara tells her that they are not notions and she is sure
that Maricruz had something to do with the fire at the cabin and with Maria’s
death. Lucia tells Barbara that Daniel mentioned this to her, but she finds it
hard to believe that Maricruz would do these types of things. Barbara agrees
that maybe no one will be able to prove anything against Maricruz, but that
won’t prevent her from taking her precautions. Lucia agrees and tells her that
since Gonzalito was born she has realized the great love that exists between
her and Daniel and, everything else notwithstanding, Daniel is her only son and
she won’t move away from him because of this or anything else. Lucia asks if
Daniel knows Barbara is not coming back and Barbara tells her that she hasn’t
told him yet and she doesn’t know how he will take to the news. ? Hector tells El Chino that Santiago came
over to the apartment where he and Carla are living and he returned the
“merchandise” to Carla. El Chino says that Santiago won’t understand they mean
business until they really give him a scare; they are already following his
girlfriend, but he still doesn’t listen. Hector tells El Chino that Santiago
told Carla that if they want to kill him, they should just get it over with.
Hector wants to know what the next step is. El Chino tells Hector that because
of his investigation many things about Santiago and his family came out – that
Greta is now having dealings with Flavio Lozano, someone whom he trusts and
that he would like Hector to meet because they can do business together and
also pressure Santiago a bit more. El Chino snaps his fingers at one of his
“bodyguards” and asks him to call Flavio and tell him to come over; that it’s
imperative that they see him right away.
As Antonio, Paloma and Santiago are walking
into the resinera, Antonio asks Paloma why she didn’t mention anything to him
(about the guys following and stalking her). Paloma tells him she didn’t want
to make it seem more important than it was. Santiago tells her he’s been
investigating those guys that followed her -- they’re not around anymore so she
should calm down and he will take care of everything else. Antonio asks
Santiago if he has anything to do with those guys and Santiago asks Antonio to
let him talk privately with Paloma – Antonio mutters that it’s as he imagined.
Santiago explains to Paloma that a while back these were guys that he used to
do business with and they are now pressuring him because they want him to go
back to do the same thing. Paloma asks Santiago why they are after her and
Santiago tells her that they probably found out that he’s interested in her,
but the less she knows the better. Paloma insists that she wants to know and
Santiago tells her that part of his alcoholism problem was that he was also a
criminal and dealt in drugs. Santiago further tells her that he doesn’t like
her knowing all of this, that he shouldn’t be with her, he shouldn’t love her –
not because of him, but because her life’s at stake. Paloma tells Santiago he
should report those people to the police but Santiago retorts that these are
the mafia and you can’t toy with them. He asks her to calm down and maybe go
away for a few days to Mazatlan to be with her family and he will call her when
everything is quiet again. Paloma tells him that if those people are from the
mafia, he won’t get anywhere unless he turns them in and that she’s not going
to Mazatlan in case he needs her to go with him to turn the thugs in. ? El Chino tells Hector and Flavio that
Salvador wories him because today he’s supposed to escape from jail. Hector
says that Salvador is no longer useful and he has lost all “prestige” (funny
word to use when referring to a mafioso!) because he’s made a lot of mistakes.
Flavio says he owes Santiago and Hector tells him that, “in this business,
there are no debts,” and that he doesn’t owe Santiago anything. Hector asks
Flavio to call Salvador (call an inmate in jail????) and Flavio dials his cell
phone and tells Salvador that everything is ready – today he will be free.
Fatima asks Sebastian what he would like to
have – a boy or a girl. Sebastian’s gets a faraway look on his face (thinking
about Carolina and her situation, of course!) and doesn’t answer Fatima right
away. Fatima asks him again and he says, whatever, as long as it’s healthy.
Fatima tells Sebastian the baby will be named “Sebastian”, just like him, or
“Sebastian Federico Gonzalo Eduardo”, but Sebastian says he likes simple names
– just not his name. Sebastian interrupts Fatima and tells her he needs to tell
her something . . . “I have to tell you that . . .” and now it’s Fatima’s turn
to interrupt and she says, “You have to tell me that you love me, right, that
you love and adore me passionately” . . . and then she hugs Sebastian and they
kiss . . . opportunity lost, Sebas! ?
Verania is in Angel’s office demanding to know the time of Sebastian’s wedding
on Saturday – she needs to make sure that Sebastian won’t ever be hers again.
Angel at first says he won’t tell her, but he finally gives in and tells her
it’s Saturday at 8:30 p.m. – satisfied? Verania thanks Angel, leans over the
desk and kisses him on the mouth (are Canadians always this friendly?) . .

12-09-1999 12:22 Fati is asking Sebas if he would like a boy or a girl.
To him it doesn't matter. She would like a boy and name him Sebas, but he does
not like his own name so it would have to be something else. Sebas gets serious
and wants to tell her something; she playfully interrupts saying that she loves
him with passion. They start kissing.
Verania is in Angel's office demanding that he tell her at what time
Fati and Sebas wedding is going to be held. Verania claims she needs to
convince herself that Sebas won't be for her. First Angel refuses because she
has no reason to be there but since she will find out anyway he says it is at
8:30pm. Verania leaves very happy.
Angel and Sebas (in Sebas office) are talking about the export contract
to Venezuela and Guatemala. Angel lets him know Verania was looking for him to
know when the wedding was going to be. Sebas hopes Angel did not say anything
to her but Angel tells him he gave her the wrong time because he is sure she is
going to try something. Verania, alone
is saying there are two more weeks until Sebas' wedding. She is going to stop
the wedding any which way she can something has to happen. The thugs (el Chino, the lawyers and one
more guy) are saying Salvador is dead and everything went as planned. The
lawyer thinks they can keep getting money from Greta as long as she thinks
Salvador is still alive. The lawyer shows them the photo of Renata and Federico
and explains Greta wants Renata dead so she can stay with Fede. The others want
to know why Salvador wanted Fede dead. The lawyer tells them that Renata was
Salvador's ex-wife and Fede was the one who sent him back to jail. They mention
that a dead Federico wouldn't do them any good but alive he could be very
useful and Santi is the way to get to him. The lawyer mentions Greta is full of
money and of course very crazy. For now they are going to concentrate on Fede,
later they will see what to do with Greta. They want all the information they
can get on Federico.
Santi (at his house) is telling Sebas
(waiting for Fati) about the money problems Paloma is having and asks for a
loan for her, Sebas agrees. He then tells him of the problems he's having with
el Chino. Sebas wants to know if Santi quit. Santi explains he's quit but the
people he used to deal with are very dangerous. Fati overhears the dangerous as
she walks in and wants to know what they are talking about. They lie saying
they are discussing some risky investments. Sebas asks Santi to go to his
office the next day so they can keep talking.
Angel and Andrea get home and he wants to know what the gynecologist
said. She tells him she had a Pap smear, blood work and the pills where
changed. Angel asks if she told him about the "other" problem. She
was too ashamed to. Angels wants to know how they are going to solve the
"other" problem. Andrea mad says he should give the "other"
problem a name, her frigidity. Angel doesn't want her to get mad, he wants a
solution, he doesn't want her to suffer every time they have relations, and he
wishes she'd enjoy it. She doesn't understand why she can't feel everything
when she loves him. Angel thinks they should look for someone who can help them
but she is too ashamed, she will think about it though. The phone rings and
it's Babs calling Andrea to organize the bachlorette party for Fatima on Friday
afternoon at Greta's house. Andrea is in charge of the guest list and will be
showing it to Fatima the next day. They hang up and Angel walks back in saying
he is going to take a bath, if she would care to join? Andrea would rather
start the guest list. Angel gets mad and tells her to at least be honest and
tell him she doesn't want to. Sebas,
Fati, Renata and Fede are toasting. Fede would like all of them to meet up on a
cruise in Medio Oriente. Fati and Sebas love the idea but a 15-day cruise is
too much since Fati has to put Greta in the hospital. The 3 try to convince her
that Greta can wait 2 months, it really isn't going to make a big
difference.
Rita goes to Maricruz's house so they
can talk and eat mole. Maricruz is not allowed to go by the house anymore. She
takes out some baby-clothing item wrapped in a red handkerchief with dried
flowers/herbs in it. Maricruz thinks this witchcraft is going to work, Rita
tells her if she had paid her, hers would have worked too. Rita asks how she
got the baby's clothing, Maricruz stole it from the clothing line when it was
drying. She wants Rita to put the handkerchief with the clothing under the
baby's' mattress. Rita refuses, she does not get involved with children.
Maricruz insists nothing is going to happen to the baby it is just to make him
leave, this way his mom will go too. Rita refuses and leaves. Babs and Dani are in their bedroom, the baby
is finally asleep. Babs heard the commercial is going to be filmed the next
day. Dani mentions that the model does not know how to ride a horse and he will
have to teach her. Babs get jealous. She will be there watching how commercials
are done. Dani tells her she is the prettiest. Babs lets him know she will be
staying with her mom while Fati is in her honeymoon and she will stay there
until their house in San Ipolito is ready.
Fati has a very real dream of her Dad. She tells him how much she misses
him, he tells her he is proud of her because she has character and is doing
things well. Gonzalo tells her to take care because now comes the hardest part.
She wakes up crying for her dad, she needs him and misses him very much. Rita walks into Babs' room and tells her to
go to the stables so she can watch as they film the commercial. Babs is waiting
for Lucia to come take care of the baby. Rita is willing to take the baby but
Babs picks him up and decided to take him to Lucia's room. Maricruz sneaks in
and puts the red handkerchief under the baby's mattress. Babs is walking around, looking at the crew
and walks straight into the camera shot, the director scolds her. She sits with
Dani, they talk about the model, we see the behind and legs of the model and
guess who she is?………VERANIA. They all introduce each other. Verania tells Dani
she thought he was single and Babs interjects he is attached. Verania notices
that Babs' last name is Uriarte and says she know another one: Fatima, Babs
acknowledges it is her sister and asks how they met. Verania explains she was
Sebas woman for a long time. Of she goes horseback riding with Daniel.
The lawyer is at Greta's asking for more
money, now that Salvador is out. He explains he pretended he was dead and at
the funeral home escaped. She insists she wants to talk to him but the lawyer
thinks it is too soon for now. Greta wants to know what the money is for,
answer: to finish the job. Greta gives him the money but she won't give him
anymore unless she talks to Salvador. Fati
(at the rustico) is telling Andrea about her dream. Andrea is afraid of things
like that and doesn't understand what Gonzalo meant by things will get harder
now. The phone rings and its Babs asking about Verania. Fati warns her to be
careful. Babs is looking at Verania and Dani on the horse smiling. Fati asks
her not to mention anything about the wedding to Verania. Sebas, in his office, advises Santi to
denounce those thugs to the police. Santi is afraid because they are very
powerful men and doesn't want to cause any problems. He thinks if he talks to
the police they will take it out on Paloma, Sebas tells him to think because
next time it could be his sisters or mother. Sebas advises him to call Carla
and get the goods back so he can buy some time to think. Sebas would like to
help him before he leaves on his honeymoon.
Dani thinks it is strange that Sebas ex is there. Babs asks if he thinks
she is attractive. Dani wants to know what is going on and Babs tells him he
noticed how Verania is taunting him just to make her mad because she is Fati's
sister. Babs is afraid someone is going to steal his love. Renata and Fede just finished eating and he
asks her to go with him to the travel agency. First he tells her that Salvador
tried escaping from jail and died. Finally Renata won't be afraid of finding
him in her house when she awakes every morning. Fati is on-line with Da Vinci, he would like her to visit him at
the museum when she is in NY. She reminds him she'll be on her honeymoon but
will try and stop by. Esther calls
Fati, she would like to be invited to the wedding to be close to her and Sebas.
Fati didn't invite her because she thought she wouldn't be interested. Esther
tells her she is lucky to marry someone like Sebas since he is such a wonderful
guy and would never betray her (yeah, let's just sit back and watch). Fati
invites her to the wedding. Sebas goes
to Carolina's house and hands her an envelope to help pay for the medical costs
and other things she might need. At first she doesn't want the money but then
accepts it because their agreement was that he would help take care of her and
the baby. If she needs him she can call Andrea or Angela. Caro thinks she'll be
okay without him and asks if Fati knows. She tells Sebas not to worry, she
won't tell. Caro knows the baby is a boy and wants to name the baby Sebas, if
that's okay. He just sits there and smiles. (Arghhh, what a slimeball). Santi and Paloma at the office, he wants to
make sure she is not at risk. He calls Carla but she has already handed the
goods to el Chino who is furious. Santi's message is that the plans have
changed and he is interested. Paloma doesn't want him to do this and tells him
she loves him. They kiss. Dani is
leaning on a tree watching the filming of the commercial while Babs is sitting
on a bench not too far away. Filming wraps up and everyone is going to town.
Verania invites Dani but he declines saying he has a lot of work to finish up.
To thank him Verania kisses him on the mouth……. Previews: Claudio, in his

He agrees to do the job for Chino rather than run the risk of hurting Paloma.
He phones Karla and tells her he'll pick up the packet he'd taken to her. She
says she looks forward to seeing him. Paloma and Sebastian kiss. At the ranch, the head of the filming crew
thanks Daniel and assures him that they will put everything back the way if was
found. Verania invites Daniel to go to town with them. She begins to kiss him,
and he pushes her away (at last a man in this novela resists Verania!) She
slaps him and yells a threat about what will happen at Fatima's wedding. Barbara
and he hug and kiss. Mario and Olivia
discuss Montse. Perhaps he should send her to Canada with his mother. But he'll
miss her very much. He suggests that he and Olivia begin to go out together
with Montse, like a family. Olivia tells him that Montse isn't really ready for
this. Mario says that he fears that Montse will run to Barbara. And, Montse
needs to see that Mario too must have a social life. They embrace. Sebastian and Fatima enter his apartment
with packages. She tells him that Ester wants to come to the wedding. Fatima
then tells him that Verania has been at the ranch, flirting with Daniel. Fatima
is afraid she will do something at the wedding. Sebastian reassures her,
telling her that Angel has cleverly given Verania the wrong time. Fatima asks:
why do people want to prevent this marriage? They embrace. To the sound of loud opera music, Claudio
smokes and drinks. He is wearing a silk, patterned robe from his nightwear
collection. He looks menacing and crazy.
Back at the ranch, Barbara is packing. Daniel sneaks up on her and they
kiss. She tells him that his action with Verania made her feel like the most
beautiful woman in the world. She'd felt so insecure because of her doubts that
they could ever make a real family with their many problems. She promises that
she won't be jealous again. Lucia
prepares to go to the sierra. She says goodbye to Vincente, warning him to take
his medicine, not to drink. Daniel will be there with him.
Greta and Fatima enter their living
room, decorated for the shower. (This starts Norma Hererra's tour de force
performance of the evening!) She begins yelling and screaming about the tacky
decorations. She kicks the balloons, pulls down more balloons, sneers at the
beefcake poster. Her daughters look shocked, but laugh, it's all so outrageous.
Greta goes into her room, throws herself on the bed, while Jesuza follows.
Fatima and Barbara come in. She cries that she wanted to have an elegant party.
Fatima thanks her but says that above all she must keep the wedding plans
secret. Barbara is looking increasingly shocked at this, seeing her mother in
full craziness for the first time. Greta says that she will be so happy when
she and Federico finally marry. When she leaves, Jesuza chastises Fatima for
keeping this fantasy going with her mother. Fatima says it's the only way to
keep her calm. Santiago and Paloma are
in Sebastian's office, discussing with his lawyer the process by which Santiago
will appear to cooperate with Chino, while preparing to denounce him. Sebastian
insists that security be provided all around. Sebastian and his lawyer leave
for a moment, and Paloma says she wants to be his novia again. They kiss. Lucia finds under the bedding of the baby
the bundle of herbs that Maricruz put there. She calls for Rita. She finds
Maricruz and Rita outside. Maricruz denies any involvement. Lucia says that
Daniel found something similar among his own things. She insists that Maricruz
stay away from ranch. Maricruz calls her an insulting name. Montse and the baby are at Greta's, in a
bedroom while Fatima and her friends are in the living room enjoying the
shower. She is speaking to Mario, who invites her to go out with him and
Olivia. Montse questions why Olivia has to be there, and anyway, she wants to
stay with the baby. Tomorrow will be Fatima's wedding and she will stay the
night. Mario calls Olivia and invites her to Cuernavaca for the weekend. Back to crazed Claudio. The maid comes in
and tells him that Sebastian has called, Ester is looking for him. He wishes to
talk to no one. He makes a threatening remark about the wedding. Hilarious scene of the shower, that sets the
almost comic tone for much of what is to follow. The party includes three male
strippers. Jesuza and Greta look scandalized,but are laughing and enjoying
themselves as well. At the Urieta home,
the hairdresser woks on Fatima's hair. Fatima and Jesuza agree that her dad
would be so happy that she is marrying Sebastian. Fatima tells Jesuza about her
dream in which Gonzalo warned her that the coming days would be the most
difficult.
Greta, Montse and Barbara enter. Greta
is dressed in black, with a white pearl chocker over the high collared dress.
She has on a big black hat, and eye shadow that is both purple and red. Barbara
and Montse both look pretty and Montse tells Fatima that she looks prettier
than she did the last time she was getting ready to get married. Fatima has a little daydream about the first
time she and Sebastian met, their first kiss, the first time the mariachis
appeared, his fighting with Adrian, the pictures from Cancun, his explanation,,
the second time the mariachis came, his proposal. Fatima and Sebastian arrive separately at the church. Claudio,
dressed in black, sits in his black sports car, holding a pistol. His limp is
quivering as he remembers Fatima accepting the proposal and then leaving him
during the wedding. Sebastian takes
Fatima's hand and they walk toward the church. Claudio approaches and yells
"Fatima". Federico's bodyguard and two others grab Claudio and get the
gun away from him. Claudio walks off, head down. Ester approaches him and asks
where the dominating, controlling superhero is? He's acted shamefully, like a
child. And he's drunk. Federico tells
Sebastian that his guy, Claudio,must be removed from the resinera. He'll take
care of buying the shares since Sebastian is leaving town. Angel and Andrea run
to Sebastian. Andrea suggets that this is an opportunity to postpone the
wedding so that he can tell Fatima about Carolina's pregnancy. Sebastian says
that the wedding will go on. Greta
approaches Fatima, yelling about why these men all go crazy over her. She
reviews the history of bad wedding related events in poor Fatima's life.
Another embarrassment today before her society friends. She credits Federico with
putting it all in order. Barbara urges calm while Fatima cries about the bad
luck she has had.
Claudio is at home, obviously thinking
about Ester's words. He thinks about Fatima refusing to sleep with him. If only
he'd won there, it would all have been different. Santiago, Antonio and Paloma are discussing what a vengeful jerk
Claudio is. They discuss Santiago's
efforts to get away from Chino. Chino
and Karla's gangland boyfriend talk. Santiago worried the boyfriend. He still
loves Karla. Chino counsels him to wait and see what happens as Santiago
completes the job. They warn Karla, who is sitting there sullen and afraid, to
not tell Santiago a thing. Renata and
Federico stand by the church, along with everyone else, waiting to calm down
before they try to conduct the ceremony again. Greta approaches and plants a big
kiss on Federico's lips, calling him her in-law. She runs after him as he moves
away. Daniel and Vincente, also outside
the church, discuss what will happen next. Vincente says taht the Uriate family
has no luck in love. If Gonzalo were alive to see what has happened with his
three children in this regard, it would kill him! Daniel buys two roses for Montse, one from him and one from
Vincente. She accepts as Barbara looks on, smiling. Mario and Olivia are in Cuernavaca, looking like any other
middle-age couple. She thinks he invited her only to have some company. And,
besides, she says, he is really not separated from Barbara. He tells her that
the separation will happen as he grows closer to Olivia, as they kiss. Renta is approached by the little flower
girl. Renata asks her questions and says she reminds her of a girl she lost.
The child has no parents, is six years old, doesn't attend school. Renta is
obviously thinking about adopting this child.
Outside the church, poor Fatima is crying and very nervous. Sebastian
tries to calm her. The priest apporaches and they agree to go in and try
again. The church is lovely, the
ceremony very nice. It proceeds smoothly. They pan the crowd, and Greta looks
like she may swoom she is so overcome by the romance. But she is fine and with
everyone else smiles at the couple as the ceremony is completed.

12/13-17/99. Verania turns up at the wedding and makes a scene, destroying the
wedding cake, before she is taken away. Then Fatima’s mother makes a fool of
herself by trying to sing a love song. Sebastian leaves Fatima alone in New
York to attend Carolina at the birth of his baby. Verania finds out that
Carolina has given birth to Sebastian’s child and tells Fatima that Carolina
has given birth to Sebastián’s child. Renata continues to look for Belén. Greta
overhears Santiago and Bárbara talking about an insane asylum and knows that
Fatima lied to her about the psychologist she is seeing. She continues to
scheme with ? to get Federico away from Renata (though she doesn’t know that
Salvador’s objective is to kill him). Daniel meets Maria Sandra,, a friend of
Bárbara’s who needs a vet, and is immediately attracted to her. Bárbara and her
husband Mario sign the divorce papers.

8/7/99:Mario pide a Olivia que le dé otra oportunidad. Daniel le da una
explicación a Maria Sandra María y decide quedarse en la granja. Paloma cuenta
a Vicente el problema que tiene con Claudio y él le promete ayudarla. Verania
se asombra al saber que Carolina tuvo un hijo y piensa que es papá de Sebastián.
Federico ofrece a Carolina ayuda económica para ella y su hijo. Flavio asegura
a Greta que ya tiene el plan para deshacer el matrimonio de Federico.
Diario de Yucatan, 8/7/99:Verania desiste de
su intento de suicidarse. Maria Sandra
necesita un veterinario para su granja y Daniel se ofrece de buena gana, pues
le ha impresionado la belleza de la joven.
Vicente se quedará en México como encargado de la resinera. Daniel
también vivirá en la capital, al lado de Bárbara. Mario vuelve a fallarle en la cama a Bárbara. Ella le dice que
mejor se quede sólo hasta que supere el trauma de su divorcio. Mario se
emborracha y entra a la recámara de Bárbara para decirle que la ama. Bárbara aconseja a Maria Sandra que enamore
al hombre que acaba de conocer, pero no sabe que se trata de Daniel. Federico comunica a Sebastián que Carolina
está en peligro de muerte. El joven cancela su luna de miel, le inventa a
Fátima que hubo un incendio en la planta y la convence para que se quede en
Nueva York. Carolina se pone muy grave
durante el parto. El médico dice a Sebastián que tendrá que decidir entre la

8/22/99: Greta se sorprende al ver a Federico. La policía detiene a Santiago
por estar implicado en el narcotráfico. Leonardo le pregunta a Fátima si no es

de Claudio. Carolina desesperada acude con Sebastián para informarle que
robaron a su hijo. Este investiga dónde está Verania, a quien le reclama el
intento de robo.

8/29/99:Bárbara sorprende a Daniel con Maria Sandra. Verania le jura a
Sebastián que no tuvo injerencia en el robo de su hijo. Santiago le informa a
Bárbara que Mario se cayó de un andamio. Daniel le reclama a Bárbara que haya
ido a ver a Mario al hospital. Sebastián acompaña a Carolina al doctor para que
vacune a su hijo. Sebastián le advierte a Fátima que aún es su esposa.

Yucatán. A pesar de que ama a Sebastián, Fátima lo abandona. El doctor informa
que tal vez Mario quede paralítico de los hombros hacia abajo. El hace prometer
a Bárbara que nadie lo sabrá. Greta se molesta al enterarse que los teléfonos
están intervenidos, cuando sabe que es idea de Federico, supone que lo hace
porque la sigue amando. Leonardo no logra pintar el cuadro de Fátima porque ella
está deprimida, extraña a Sebastián, quien sospecha del pintor y ordena que lo
investiguen. Flavio pide a Carla le avise a Héctor que lo acusará con su
familia de ser narcotraficante y que lleva una doble vida. Hay epidemia entre
las vacas del rancho y Daniel tendrá que quedarse más tiempo. Maria Sandra
llega a visitarlo. La joven le confiesa a Daniel que lo ama. Rita dice a Maria
Sandra que Daniel es un mujeriego, pues engaña a Maricruz y a Bárbara. Carolina
acepta que Sebastián se lleve al niño un día completo. Se presenta un problema
en la oficina y Renata se hace cargo del bebé, Fátima está encantada con el
niño, pero no sabe de quién es. En ese momento llega Carolina y le pregunta

Fátima. Claudio amenaza a Fátima con una pistola.

responde que nadie lo comprende y que además no necesita la lástima de nadie.
Sebastián le dice a Federico que Carolina le llevará al bebé para que lo cuide
pues ella acudirá a un cita de trabajo. Fátima le comenta a Andrea que ha
decidido irse a Nueva York para olvidar a Sebastián pues se enteró que ya vive
con Carolina para estar cerca de su hijo. Sebastián le reclama a Leonardo que
se aproveche del estado anímico de Fátima y que a pesar de que estén separados,
él siempre velara por ella y no permitirá que le haga daño. Greta invita a
Federico a su casa para festejar su cumpleaños, éste le dice que no podrá ir,
por lo que ella la amenaza con suicidarse si no acude a la fiesta. Carolina le
dice a Sebastián que si quiere estar al lado de su hijo tendrá que divorciarse
de Fátima. Claudio amenaza a Fátima con una pistola para que le devuelvan las acciones
de la refinería, pues no está dispuesto a quedarse en la ruina por su culpa.
Daniel y Sebastián conversan de sus problemas con Bárbara que en complicidad
con Federico quieren internarla en un manicomio.

que sólo la busca por interés. Sin embargo, Greta está entusiasmada con él,
cree que es millonario y que se ha enamorado de ella. Se organiza la boda de
Eva con Vicente. Bárbara se pone celosa al ver cómo Maria Sandra recibe
afectuosamente a Daniel. Hace una escena de celos a pesar de que él le jura que
la quiere y que jamás la volverá a engañar. De pronto aparece Yamil del brazo
de Paulo. Las mujeres se miran con furia, mientras Paulo contempla con
admiración la belleza de Bárbara. Entra Diego, mira con rencor a Paulo y
piensa: ¿Acaso este es el hombre que enamoró a mi hermana sin decirle que era
casado?, Míriam llega acompañada de Fátima. Ahora son buenas amigas, pero
Míriam no se atreve a contar su tenebroso pasado y vive temerosa de que un día

Eva y Vicente están entusiasmados por su próxima boda. Bárbara le advierte a
Paulo que no intente seducirla. Greta le dice a Santiago que ella no se saldrá
de esa casa. Mariana le aconseja a Fátima que se mantenga alejada de Leonardo.

su matrimonio. Lorena reprocha a Leonardo que sólo piense en Fátima. Vicente se
angustia y llora al entrarse de la muerte de Eva. Sebastián descubre que
Carolina y el bebé se han ido de su casa y Susana se niega a decirle dónde
están. El advierte a Fátima que llevará el caso a los tribunales. Daniel llega
a dar el pésame por la muerte de Eva. Maria Sandra lo abraza, angustiada, en el
momento en que llegan Bárbara y Santiago. Bárbara le recomienda a Fátima que

Valentín discutiendo. Andrea se siente deprimida y admite ante Fátima que no ha
sabido ser mujer para Angel. Greta visita al "vidente", pero no le
agrada lo que escucha de Frank. Santiago y Lorenzo tienen un fuerte altercado.
Sebastián informa a Fátima que saldrá con Raquel, pero lo hace sólo para
despistarla. Santiago le dice a Andrea que no está realmente enamorado de

drunk Daniel. She getsout of the car, crosses the street and is hit by a car.
She loses her baby which turns out to have been twins and is in serious
condition. Angel and Andrea get back together which makes Santiago go back to

enfermo. Loren, Fátima y Miriam se unen en contra de Leonardo. Maricruz y
Bárbara se reencuentran. Andrea jura que ahora sí recuperará el tiempo perdido
con Santiago. Ángel promete que jamás hablará con nadie de sus tendencias
sexuales. Leonardo aborda a Fátima y pretende vengarse de ella. Ángel pide a

Daniel. Fátima abandona a Sebastián porque lo encontró besando a Raquel, a
quien considera una hipócrita. Lorenzo es contagiado de "misteriosa"
enfermedad por mujeres de la calle y está asustado. Manuel lo regaña por no ser
precavido. También aconseja a Verónica, pero no sabe cómo hablar de eso con sus
hijos. Maricruz reprocha a Daniel que por su culpa sea una prostituta. Valentín
aconseja a Angel disimular sus preferencias y tener mucho cuidado, ya que hay
mucho peligro en el mundo homosexual. Sebastián se entera que violaron a

then Miriam. She tells the police that Nicole was responsible. Daniel dice a
Maria Sandra que continuarán como amantes. Ella está muy enojada, se presenta

and/or Daniel. Angel is badly beaten by a man he picked up. Greta tells Frank
they are through: he never told her he’d been married five times or had a
child; all he wanted was her money. Frank cries when she gets out of the car,
saying to himself that for the first time he was really in love. Fátima sees
Raquel kissing Sebastian.

sufrir por nadie. Greta informa a sus hijos que se olvidará de Franck. Andrea
escucha cuando Ángel propone a Valentín que tengan una relación. Franck pide a
Miriam que interceda por él con Greta.

queda consternada con la muerte de Maria Sandra. Daniel cree que Bárbara jamás

Sebastián se pone triste porque Fátima se fue de su lado. Raquel
aprovecha la situación y le coquetea a Sebastián. Renata dice a Fátima que si no
reacciona perderá a Sebastián. Por decepción, Sebastián tiene una aventura con
Raquel, pero se arrepiente. Greta se
decepciona de Frank. Sebastián acepta ante Fátima que se enredó con Raquel.
Fátima promete no volver a sufrir por nadie. Greta asegura a sus hijos que se
olvidará de Frank y se dedicará al negocio del restaurante con ellos. Angel y
Santiago riñen. Este promete a Andrea que no volverá a beber. La licenciada
notifica a Fátima que prácticamente está divorciada de Sebastián. Daniel dice a Bárbara que nunca será libre.
Manuel hace una propuesta indecorosa a Bárbara. El doctor Valero dice a Fátima
que necesita hacerse un estudio para saber a qué se deben los dolores que

Fátima mentions the lumps in her breast to Renata who insists on taking her to
the doctor. Greta uses Federico to make Frank jealous and asks him to give up
his part of the business to prove to her that he has changed: el amor o el
dinero. Sebastian and Angel talk; the latter is finally reconciled to being
gay.Maricruz tells Raquel that she will win Sebastian and succeeds in bedding
him. Barbara doesn’t know what she feels toward Daniel and Manuel. During a
fierce argument Fátima learns she has
two tumors that may be cancerous and tells Greta. During a furious argument
with his son Lorenzo, in which Lorenzo extolls the virtues of his mother,

revela a Yamilé sus verdaderos sentimientos hacia Bárbara. Sebastián visita en el hospital a Fátima,
pero ella lo saca. Raquel informa a Brenda que Sebastián la despidió de la

juntos a Greta y Federico. Andrea comunica a Santiago que acepta vivir con él.
Mario conoce a Míriam y se le gusta.
Bárbara discute con Yamilé. Más tarde, Montse desaparece. Un policía

una demanda en su contra por acoso sexual. Montse se accidenta. Manuel sufre una cornada. Un pariente de
Frank le deja una herencia, por lo cual tendrá que viajar a París para

no se atreve a manifestar sus sentimientos. Adolfo prohíbe a Maricruz volver a
ver a Sebastián y amenaza con matar al joven. Sebastián promete a su padre que
jamás volverá a fallarle. Brenda pide ayuda a Adolfo para salir de la cárcel.
Renata va al médico y éste le da una buena noticia. La familia Uriarte celebra
la Navidad.
Flashback
weeks (5/1-5/12). Greta and Frank argue about whether they should
marry before or after he gets his inheritance: he wants to marry before, she
after. Greta visits the psychologist Alejandra to discuss her feelings about
Fátima and she recalls many scenes with her family. Manuel plans to go to Spain
but Verónica wants to go to Acapulco with friends and he agrees. Lorenzo has
left the house and asks Gina to return to him. Daniel is furious when he
discovers Verónica talking with Bárbara and forbids her from having anything to
do with that family. She tells him that he has no right to control whom she
sees. Mario decides to go to Canada for treatment and tells Miriam he loves
her. She tells him that she is not certain of her feelings. Diego
asks Fátima to marry him before he goes to Italy. She says no. Bárbara recalls
her past, how desperate she was for a child, how she fell in love with Daniel,
how conflicted she was when she discovered she was pregnant, etc. Sebastian, in
his apartment, recalls scenes from his past with Fátima. Santiago talks to the
psychiatrist about his alcohol and drug abuse, how he made fun of Andrea’s
virginity, about his stealing and taking drugs, how he married Carla and then
discovered she was interested only in his money but then died protecting him
from Héctor, how Paloma helped him and they fell in love but it didn’t work
out, how he has now found happiness with Andrea. Now, Greta feels guilty,
Bárbara feels peace, Santiago is glad that the family is unified, that he is
happy, tranquil, has a partner who loves him and a business that is doing well.
Fátima finally has looked at herself in the mirror and cried and is beginning
to accept the reality. There is a New Year’s Eve party at which Valentín and
Angel and Sebastian turn up accidentally and join Greta, Fátima, Bárbara, etc.
Most of the family departs for Paris. Daniel becomes angry with Bárbara when
she accidentally calls him Manuel. Manuel decides to follow her there.

refresquera de Sebastián. Sebastián llega de improviso a París en busca de
Fátima. Ángel dice a Maricruz que Sebastián se fue a París. Bárbara acude a la
cita con Manuel. Adolfo planea quitar de su camino a Sebastián. Greta y Franck

a París en busca de Fátima. Manuel localiza a Bárbara y la cita en un
restaurante. Fátima y Sebastián se besan. Adolfo planea quitar de su camino a
Sebastián. Greta y Frank por fin se casan.Raquel comenta a Maricruz que Adolfo
está interesado en otra mujer. Manuel vuelve a buscar a Bárbara y Fátima se da

México y le devuelve a Diego el anillo de compromiso.

Yucatan, 1/9/00: Manuel se enfrenta a Lorenzo porque se entera que vive con
Gina. Míriam invita a Montse a escaparse de la escuela, pero ella le solicita
permiso a Mario. Adolfo pide a Maricruz que se ponga la gargantilla que le
regaló. Sebastián se despide de Fátima,
a quien Andrea regaña y advierte que si mantiene una actitud negativa alejará a
todos los hombres de su lado. Fátima
rompe su compromiso con Diego y le devuelve la sortija. La madre de Gina se la
lleva contra su voluntad, mientras Lorenzo grita a Manuel que lo odia. Yamile
aprovecha la ocasión para seducir a Lorenzo.
Greta advierte a Bárbara que si se va a vivir al rancho con Daniel
perderá a su hija. Mario pide a Daniel que si muere en la operación se haga

que se aleje de Maricruz porque teme por su vida. Fátima se sorprende al ver a

encontrado juntos a Bárbara y Daniel. Yamilé aclara a Lorenzo que no podrá
haber nada entre ellos. Greta visita en su nueva casa a Andrea y Santiago.
Maricruz forcejea con Raquel. Yamilé abofetea a Bárbara

Yucatan, 1/16/00: Bárbara se va
llorando, jura que sigue amando a Daniel, pero Vicente no le cree, pues la vio
cuando besaba a Manuel. Valentín está
celoso, porque Angel anda de novio con "otra". Yamilé está dispuesta a todo con tal de ser
la esposa de Manuel. Le propone a Daniel que se unan para impedir que el torero
sea feliz con Bárbara. Magda está
contenta de ver a Ramiro feliz y le pide que le presenta a la causante de su
dicha. Adolfo envía una obra de arte a
Fátima. Ella no quiere aceptarla, pero el "guarura" se la deja porque
si la devuelve lo matan. Sebastián
disfruta con la compañía de su hijo. Carolina lo chantajea, le pide que se
casen para que pueda ver al niño diariamente.
Federico está muy animado con la nueva ejecutiva Diana. La invita a
viajar, cuando aparece Renata, embarazada, quien no simpatiza con Diana. Míriam confiesa que ama a Mario. El le dice
que ha decidido operarse para volver a caminar y dedicarse a ella. Fátima va a devolver el cuadro que le mandó
Adolfo y se encuenta con Brenda, quien la recibe a bofetadas.

Ramiro. Franck deja plantada a Greta por ir a buscar a la madre de Miriam.
Ángel tiene una discusión con Valentín. Santiago dice a Greta que Franck está
haciendo fraude en el restaurante. Daniel se va de la casa de Bárbara. Brenda
se encuentra con Fátima y discuten. Federico se preocupa por el embarazo de
Renata. Brenda sorprende a Maricruz y Sebastián besándose. Brenda confiesa la
verdad.

Yucatan, 1/23/00: Sebastián se pone
celoso de Ramiro. Frank deja plantada a Greta por ir a buscar a la madre de
Míriam. Angel tiene una discusión con Valentín. Santiago dice a Greta que Frank
realiza operaciones fraudulentas en el restaurante. Santiago comunica a Bárbara
que se tendrán que hacer cargo del establecimiento para evitar que Frank los
deje en la ruina. Daniel se va de la casa de Bárbara. Brenda se encuentra con
Fátima y discuten. Federico se preocupa
por el embarazo de Renata. Brenda sorprende a Maricruz besándose con Sebastián.
Maricruz confiesa que ella mató a Raquel. Brenda dice toda la verdad a Adolfo
sobre la relación entre Maricruz y Sebastián, después le propone planear la
muerte de ambos. Un "guarura" avisa a Maricruz que quieren matar a
Sebastián, quien se casa otra vez con Fátima. Federico regala a Sebastián un
arma para se defienda. Mario se somete
a una operación y Monse se siente feliz porque muy pronto su papá podrá volver
a caminar. Sebastián se pone de acuerdo con Maricruz para viajar a Tijuana y
Estados Unidos. Brenda escucha el plan de Maricruz. Los "guaruras" de
Adolfo siguen a Sebastián y a Maricruz, cuyo auto se voltea. La escolta de
Adolfo encañona a la pareja. Sebastián toma la pistola que le dio su papá y
dispara contra un "guarura"

1/30/00: Brenda se entera por las noticias que Sebastián y Maricruz tuvieron un
accidente. Vicente está feliz porque en menos de 72 horas los médicos dirán si
Mario podrá volver a caminar. Brenda se burla de Fátima. Federico se entera de
lo sucedido a Sebastián. Federico informa a Fátima y Renata que Sebastián está
muerto. Carolina también se entera de lo sucedido. Todos se encuentran
consternados por la muerte de Sebastián.
Diario de
Yucatan, 1/30/00: Sebastián tiene un
grave accidente. Fátima, quien se encuentra con Brenda y Renata, tiene un mal
presentimiento y trata de comunicarse con el joven. Por las noticias se entera
del trágico percance.Ramiro, al saber la noticia de la muerte de Sebastián,
consuela a Fátima y le confiesa su amor. Carolina culpa con enojo a Fátima de
la muerte de su novio y la abofetea.Entre Ramiro y Adolfo hay un enfrentamiento
por Fátima y se produce un disparo.También hay un pleito entre Daniel y Manuel
por las atenciones que tiene éste con Bárbara, quien a su vez siente celos de
Paulina.Finalmente operan a Fátima y queda "como nueva". Ramiro,
emocionado, la besa.

besa a Ramiro. Paloma dice a Santiago que su madre murió. Paulina expresa a
Daniel que es muy feliz a su lado. Bárbara se pone feliz porque se entera que
Manuel regresa a España. Frank pide ayuda a Miriam, pero ella se niega. Fátima
muestra a Miriam la escultura que realizó en honor de Sebastián. Daniel besa a
Bárbara. Marcela comenta a la tía de Ramiro que desea recuperar su amor.
Bárbara dice a Manuel que está dispuesta a vivir con él. Fátima y Ramiro se
gustan.

la tía de Ramiro que desea recuperar su amor, pero él no quiere saber nada de ella.
Bárbara dice a Manuel que está dispuesta a vivir con él. Daniel comenta con
Vicente que desea entrenar a Paulina para que se convierta en la mejor
rejoneadora de México. Greta se enfurece cuando Bárbara le comenta que vivirá

comenta a Ramiro que la actitud de Fátima tal vez se deba a que vio a Marcela.

Manuel y que cuando se convierta en una actriz famosa abandonará a
Lorenzo. Eduardo comenta a Ramiro que
la actitud de Fátima tal vez se deba a que vio a Marcela. Bárbara dice a Manuel
que no desea ir a la corrida en San Miguel de Allende, porque no quiere ver
juntos a Daniel y Paulina. Mario visita
a Bárbara y ella se queda impresionada al verlo caminar y al enterarse de que
se casará con Míriam. Fátima abofetea a Ramiro. Federico sueña con Sebastián y
despierta muy asustado. Bárbara y
Míriam discuten por Mario. Greta busca a Federico y lo besa. El le dice que a
quien ama es a Renata. Santiago confiesa a Fátima que Ximena empieza a
interesarle. Por su parte, ésta dice a Santiago que regresó para quedarse con
él. Fátima se siente desconcertado al
ver abrazados a Ramiro y Marcela. Bárbara y Lorenzo riñen y él trata de
golpearla. Fátima comenta a Marcela que está dispuesta a dar una oportunidad a
Ramiro. Marcela declara "la guerra" a Fátima, quien se entrega a
Ramiro. Ramiro visita a los enfermos

un paciente suyo sufrió un accidente. Ramiro observa a Sebastián. Paulina
decide volver a rejonear. Ramiro se da cuenta de que el paciente del que le
habló Tavo es Sebastián, el gran amor de Fátima. El padre de Paulina le reclama
a Daniel por haber tenido relaciones con su hija. Marcela lee el diario de la
tía de Ramiro. Paulina y Bárbara tiene un altercado por culpa de Daniel. Fátima
se desanima al ver juntos a Marcela y Ramiro. Brenda planea comprar todas las
obras que se expongan en la subasta que organiza Fátima. Frank le da dinero a
Greta y se despide de ella.
Diario de
Yucatan, 2/20/00: Eduardo exige a Ramiro revelar a Fátima que Sebastián está
vivo. Ninguno de los dos se da cuenta de que los oyó Sonia, quien va con el
chisme a Marcela. Fátima descubre que
Brenda compró sus esculturas y ve cómo las incendia. Le avisan a Ramiro que Sebastián movió una mano. Lorenzo acepta internarse en una clínica de
desintoxicación y pide perdón a Manuel.
Fátima abofetea a Santiago por engañar a Andrea. El recapacita y
advierte a Ximena que Andrea es su pareja y que esperan un hijo. Angel dice
Santiago que Andrea no quiere volver a verlo.
Montse pide a Bárbara que la acompañe a la boda de Mario. En la
ceremonia se encuentran con Daniel.
Renata sugiere a Federico que se adelante a México para que pueda ver a
su nieto, pero él está muy entusiasmado con Diana. Greta convence a Frank para que regrese con ella. Marcela y Magda investigan y se enteran que
Sebastián era hijo de Federico y murió calcinado en un accidente. Ramiro ofrece matrimonio a Fátima y ella
acepta. En el hospital, Sebastián sale del estado de coma. =========

2/27/00: Magda le dice a Marcela quién es Sebastián. Fátima informa a Bárbara
que se casará con Ramiro y que Santiago anda de romance con Ximena. Ana y
Eugenio se enteran de lo sucedido a Andrea. Eduardo le avisa a Ramiro que
Sebastián salió del estado de coma. Santiago va a ver a Andrea, pero ella no
quiere oírlo. Daniel expresa a Lucía que no puede olvidar a Bárbara. Paulina
rechaza a Eduardo. Magda informa a Marcela que Ramiro y Fátima se
comprometieron. El padre de Paulina exige a Daniel que le cumpla a su hija.
Franck sufre de problemas cardiacos.

Yucatan, 2/27/00: Magda revela a Marcela la identidad de Sebastián. Fátima
informa a Bárbara que se casará con Ramiro y que Santiago anda de enamorado con
Ximena. Ana y Eugenio se enteran de lo sucedido a Andrea. Eduardo avisa a
Ramiro que Sebastián salió del estado de coma. Después contesta que mientras no
sepa en qué condiciones despertó Sebastián no le dirá nada a Fátima. Santiago
va a ver a Andrea, pero ella no quiere oírlo. Daniel dice a Lucía que no puede
olvidar a Bárbara. Paulina rechaza a Eduardo. Magda comunica a Marcela que
Ramiro y Fátima se comprometieron. El padre de Paulina exige a Daniel que
"le cumpla" a su hija. Sebastián llora yla enfermera decide ayudarlo
a recuperarse. Frank tiene problemas cardíacos y Greta se siente alarmada.
Andrea y Ximena tienen un altercado. Magda pide a Ramiro que se decida entre
ella y Fátima. Andrea visita al médico, quien le dice que tiene que cuidarse
porque su embarazo no va del todo bien. Federico regresa de Europa y se entera
que Fátima se casará con Ramiro. Angel se ofrece a acompañar a Andrea al
médico, "todas las veces que sea necesario". Paulina propone a Daniel
irse a vivir con él. Andrea reitera a Santiago que nunca lo perdonará y que su
hija llevará el apellido de Angel. Marcela propone a Eduardo "unir
fuerzas" para separar a Fátima y Sebastián. Daniel busca a Bárbara para
decirle que no consigue olvidarla. Sebastián sugiere a Ramiro que llame a

informa a Manuel que vivirá con Daniel. Greta discute con Andrea y se pelea con
Ana. Manuel dice a Bárbara que se irá a Perú a una corrida. Sebastián se
impacta cuando Marcela le habla de la relación de Fátima y Ramiro. Diana
confiesa a Magda que se enamoró de Federico.

Yucatan, 3/5/00: Fátima se casa con
Ramiro. Por su parte, Marcela desea ayudar a Sebastián, a quien Tavo explica que estuvo en estado de coma durante
tres meses y que su familia, incluida la misma Fátima, creen que está muerto.
Sebastián se impresiona cuando Marcela le dice la verdad sobre la relación
entre Fátima y Ramiro. En tanto, Diana confiesa a Magda que se enamoró de Federico. Por su parte, Magda
se enfurece cuando Ramiro le comunica que se casó con Fátima. Verónica comenta
con Manuel y Bárbara que escuchó decir a Ramiro que Sebastián estaba vivo. A su
vez, Sebastián se presenta en la casa
de Fátima y, por Greta se entera, que la joven se casó con Ramiro y se fue de
luna de miel. Greta telefonea a Federico y le dice que Sebastián está vivo,
pero éste no le cree. Sin embargo, Sebastián decide acompañar a Marcela a Chihuahua, donde Ramiro y Fátima pasan su
luna de miel.

actitud de Bárbara. Yamilé le hace una escenita a Manuel. Paulina y Verónica
discuten. Daniel le lleva serenata a Bárbara. Fátima reitera su amor a Ramiro.
Santiago termina con Ximena. Ramiro dice a Fátima que por amor le ocultó que
Sebastián vivía.
Diario de
Yucatan, 3/12/00: Ramiro confiesa a Fátima que ya sabía que Sebastián estaba
vivo y por eso adelantó la boda. Meche avisa a Frank que se divorciará y le
pide que huyan del país. Bárbara ve una
foto comprometedora de Manuel con Yamilé. El quiere cancelar sus compromisos en
Perú para explicarle que todo fue una trampa.
Angel confiesa a Diana su verdadera identidad y que no perdonará a
Magda, quien le hizo creer que era culpable de la muerte de sus padres. Ramiro se justifica con Fátima pero ella,
dolida, le exige regresar a México. Al llegar, Fátima y Sebastián se emocionan
y se abrazan, mientras Ramiro y Marcela los observan celosos. Carolina informa a Sebastián que se casará,
pero seguirán siendo amigos y podrá ver al pequeño Sebastián. Montse dice a
Mario que convencerá a su mamá para que los deje ir a vivir a Cancún. Bárbara
no quiere volver a ver a Manuel, pero el torero anuncia su regreso a
México. El Dr. Valero aconseja a
Federico que entre al parto para animar a Renata; éste sale feliz de la sala de
operaciones pues el bebé nace sano y fuerte. Luego llama a Sebastián para pedirle
que él y Fátima sean los padrinos.
Bárbara le grita a Daniel que no vlverá con él pero tampoco tendrá otra
pareja. Andrea se pone grave. Fátima cita a Ramiro y a Sebastián, pues ha
tomado una decisión.

visitar en el hospital a Federico, quien acaba de ser padre. Santiago y Ángel
riñen en pleno hospital. Manuel busca a Bárbara para darle una explicación. Santiago
se pone feliz porque Andrea lo perdonó. Marcela goza diciéndole a Fátima que ya
hizo el amor con Ramiro.

Yucatan, 3/19/00: Brenda se presenta
con Ramiro y Eduardo como si fuera Berenice. Mario se lleva a los niños a
Cancún. Yolanda aclara a Bárbara que Yamilé planeó todo para alejarla de
Manuel. Se pelean y Yamilé sale lastimada. Manuel está ofendido por la
desconfiaza de Bárbara y rompe su relación con ella. Yamilé termina con la cara
marcada y saca a Yolanda de su casa, pero Manuel le ayuda a llevarse a la niña
sin que Yamilé lo sepa. Diana insiste en ver a Federico, pero él no acepta y le
da a Renata el anillo de compromiso. Andrea ruega a Santiago y Angel, antes de
morir, que sean amigos y cuiden a su hija. Fátima confiesa a Ramiro que
Sebastián es el hombre con el que desea compartir su vida. Greta aconseja a
Bárbara que busque a Manuel para que le aclare su situación. Diana comete una
imprudencia al visitar en el hospital a Federico, quien acaba de ser padre.
Marcela goza al decirle a Fátima que hizo el amor con Ramiro. Marcela confía a
Sonia que si Magda no obliga a Ramiro a casarse con ella lo mandará a la
cárcel. Valero informa a Fátima que está embarazada. Ella supone que el bebé es
de Ramiro

no le avisara su boda con Renata. Ramiro exige a Sebastián se aleje de Fátima.
Jesusa avisa a Greta que se casará con Vicente. Marcela convence a Fátima de
que no mandó el anónimo. Miriam avisa a Mario que está embarazada. Brenda se

the gun she was holding goes off and kills her. Fatima is taken to the hospital
but loses her baby. Barbara goes shopping and meets Yamile; she lies and tells
Yamile that she is buying clothes for a trip to Spain with Manuel. Greta begs
Jesusa not to marry Vicente, not to leave her alone. Daniel says goodbye to
Paulina who tells him he won’t be happy with Bárbara. Ramiro tells Sebastian
that Fatima and the baby are fine. Federico tells Renata that Diana resigned.
Barbara tries to give her engagement ring back to Manuel but he won’t take it.
She tells him that Daniel has proposed and asks what she should do.
USA, 8/11/00. no

USA, 8/14/00. Bárbara and Manuel talk. She doesn’t know
what to do. He tells her that he has always loved her and always will but
realizes that she never loved him the same way but also tells her that she
doesn’t love Daniel enough either. Rogelio? arranges for Yamile to go out with
another viejo. Bárbara visits Daniel who shows her pictures of where they will
vacation and the house he will buy for them. Santiago, Angel and Valentin talk.
Sebastian decides to return to Toronto. Marcela asks him for help with her
education and he promises to get her a grant.Jesusa tells Vicente she can’t
marry him; she can’t leave Greta alone. Renata invites Diana to lunch, asks why
she resigned and if she and Federico were lovers. Diana says they weren’t and
later tells Federico about the conversation. He thanks her and she leaves.
Angel tells Sebastian the truth, that Fatima lost her baby. Sebastian visits
Fatima and Ramiro and offers his condolences, late because he didn’t know.
Fatima confronts Ramiro and suggests that they should separate. He begs her to
give them a chance. Paulina encounters Barbara in a bank line and tells her
that she and Daniel won’t be happy together. Miriam tells Mario and the
children that she is pregnant; they are thrilled. When Bárbara hears about it,
she suggests to Montse that Miriam probably is less loving with her now but
Montse says that isn’t true, that Miriam is more wonderful than ever. Sebastian
invites Marcela to the wedding of his father Federico and Renata. Santiago and
Frank talk. Frank admits that he was a gigolo who went after Greta for her
money but really fell in love with her and now has his own money. He reminds
Santiago that he had done a lot of bad things in his life too (drugs, alcohol,
theft, etc.). Both of them had changed but Greta has to apologize. Veronica and
Lorenzo, now in AA, read the dedication to Barbara in Manuel’s book. Daniel
visits Barbara and Montse. She becomes
angry when she learns that Bárbara is getting back together with Daniel whom
she has never liked. Later, Daniel and Bárbara argue; he says that Montsé has
always been the problem between them. Montsé tells her father Mario that she
doesn’t want to visit Bárbara and Daniel; he tries to explain that her mother
loves her, has a right to choose her own partner (as he chose Miriam), and that
she must accept it. Sebastian visits Fatima to say goodbye. She tries to talk
to him but he refuses to listen.
USA, 8/15/00.
Greta visits Renata and Federico before the wedding and gives her the ring he
gave her many years before and apologizes for what her obsession caused her to
do. Renata accepts the ring. Renata tells Fatima about her conversation with
Diana, that she is sure there was something between them but she has forgiven
him. Mario and Barbara argue about Montsé’s feelings for Daniel. Jesusa tells
Greta that she will stay with her.
Santiago arranges a reconciliation between Frank and Greta. With Frank
hiding behind a bush, he gets Greta to admit that she is sorry for what she
did, etc. Frank appears, they stare, each takes a step, they reconcile. Yamile
goes to the office of Rogelio? and takes money and a gun from the safe. It
appears that he calls the police because Manuel gets a call from a lieutenant
and rushes to Barbara’s home but arrives too late. Yamile has shot Barbara.
Frank and Greta visit Vicente and tell him to seek out Jesusa. Sebastian and
Marcela talk. When Vicente learns that Barbara is in the hospital, he goes to
Daniel and finds him drunk.
USA, 8/16/00.
Before the wedding, Federico tries to tell Renata about Diana but she doesn’t
let him. They are married. Barbara survives the operation. Vicente learns that
Daniel was drunk because Bárbara had told him she wouldn’t marry him. Her
children were more important than her love for him. Manuel overhears. Marcela
tells Ramiro that she still loves him but is going to Toronto. There is a long
deathbed scene with Bárbara interspersed with other scenes. She asks Greta to
look after her children. Daniel tells her that Yamile is in jail and that he
will stay alone with her memory. Manuel tells her he loves her. She begs Mario
to forgive her. Montsé and her brother tell Bárbara that Daniel is ok. Greta and
Fatima return. Bárbara tells them that she loved 3 men: Mario, her first love;
Daniel, who taught her passion; Manuel who gave her security. Fatiman says she
thought she had found everything in one man but was wrong. Bárbara tells Fatima
she isn’t wrong, that she should fight for Sebastin; Ramiro overhears. In
Toronoto, Sebastian runs into Verania on the streets, she apologizes for all
the harm she did, and they go off together. Barbara dies.
USA, 8/17/00.
ULTIMO CAPITULO. Recap of last part of Barbara’s death scene. Angel calls
Sebastian and tells him. Ramiro asks Fatima to stay with him. Sebastian calls
Fatima to give her his condolences but Fatima hears Verania say something to
him and hangs up. Manuel and Daniel grieve, separately. Manuel confronts Yamile
in jail; he won’t let her escape from justice on the grounds of insanity.
Marcela talk: he is with Fatima and she is going to Toronto. Fatima arrives and
Marcela says goodbye. Time passes. At the ranch, Jesusa is with Vicente.
Paulina talks to Daniel. He tells her that he can’t love her and says goodbye.
Then he takes his leave of Jesusa and Vicente saying that Barbara was the love
of his life and there will never be another woman for him. Sebastin, with
Verania calls Marcela and hears her crying. Greta, Frank, Santiago and Fatima
share a meal and hold hands. Ramiro eats alone and thinks about Marcela and
Fatima. Montsé talks to her father Mario about her mother Barbara. Federico and
Renato return from their honeymoon. Ramiro tells Fatima, wearing overalls, that
he has a surprise for her and drives her to the airport where he gives her a
suitcase and a ticket to Toronto. She goes. On his way out, he bumps into
Marcela, tells her that he has just sent Fatima to Toronto and suggests that
they give each other another chance. They embrace. Verania and Sebastian are
visiting Niagara Falls. Verania goes off looking for something. Fatima sees
Sebastian and walks toward him. They kiss. Verania sees them and walks away.
The kiss continues. FIN.
